- sisters. I don't know, are you a fan of
- that 1x5 or 6 cm object that, somehow,
- has never stopped being used since way
- back when? It's so cool. Cool in what
- way? Just cool, yes. Well, today, after
- a long absence, our guest is here to
- discuss something that some people
- might wonder about. He is Mr. Fuad
- Baraja. Peace be upon you, and Allah's
- mercy and blessings. And peace be upon
- you, and Allah's mercy and blessings.
- Thank you for taking the time to come
- to Rasil to talk about this particular
- object. When you arrived, you asked a
- question: "Are you a smoker?" If so,
- then why? Do you truly love Allah and
- His Messenger? Smokers might feel like
- they've been slapped in the face by
- that question. Is this what we will be
- discussing?
- God willing.
- MasyaAllah. Are you a smoker? How deep
- is your love for Allah and His
- Messenger? Let us listen. With the ears
- of the soul, of course. Please, go
- ahead.
- In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious
- , the Most Merciful. Peace be upon you,
- and Allah's mercy and blessings.
- And peace be upon you, and Allah's
- mercy and blessings.
- All praise is to Allah, and peace and
- blessings be upon the Messenger of
- Allah, Muhammad bin Abdillah, and upon
- his family, companions, and followers.
- To proceed. All praise is due only to
- Allah, who grants us health, and so
- many other blessings that we could
- never count one by one. As Allah states
- , if you try to count the blessings of
- Allah, you will never be able to
- enumerate them. One of them is the
- blessing of health. The blessing of
- health is one of two blessings from
- Allah that are often neglected by
- mankind. Yes, the other one is the
- blessing of free time. Indeed, the
- blessing of health and the blessing of
- free time are two of Allah's favors
- that are often neglected by man. God
- willing, we are not among those who
- neglect these two blessings. Because
- with health, we can live our lives well
- . And we can perform our acts of
- worship properly. The blessing of free
- time, yes. If we are too busy dealing
- with the world, when will we take care
- of the hereafter? God willing, we
- belong to those who remain mindful and
- grateful for these immense blessings
- from Allah. Yes. Very well, may prayers
- and peace also always be bestowed upon
- our liege, the Great Prophet Muhammad
- sallallahu alaihi wasallam, the last of
- the prophets and leader of the
- messengers. Let's get straight to it so
- we don't have too much of a prologue,
- Ms. Nuning. Essentially, if you heard
- earlier, Ms. Nuning read the title: "
- You are a smoker, then do you love
- Allah and His Messenger?" Of course,
- this is not just for those who smoke.
- We all, God willing, love Allah and His
- Messenger. It is just that we are
- discussing the issue of smoking. The
- connection is this. A person who loves
- Allah and His Messenger will certainly
- do anything to gain the pleasure of
- Allah. Allah is pleased, God willing,
- with people who strive to provide the
- best in their worship. Because as I
- often say, regarding the verse
- frequently recited, "Wa ma khalaqtul
- jinna wal insa illa liya'budun."
- Meaning, "And I did not create the jinn
- and mankind except to worship Me." Now,
- this form of worship involves many
- things taught by the Messenger, such as
- prayer, fasting, zakat, pilgrimage, and
- so on; these are forms of purely ritual
- worship. However, it is not just that;
- everything we do lillahi ta'ala, which
- we intend for Allah, is an act of
- worship. A simple example. If you see a
- nail in the road, in the middle of the
- road, and you remove that nail. That is
- one form of worship. It would certainly
- be very narrow-minded if worship were
- defined only as prayer, fasting, zakat,
- and pilgrimage. Yes, very narrow. But
- everything we do is this—if we intend
- it for Allah, lillahi ta'ala, then it
- is a form of worship.
- Another easy example is marriage.
- Marriage is the longest form of worship
- ; throughout our lives, we are
- worshipping through marriage. By
- marrying, we provide for our wives and
- children. We provide for our families.
- That is an act of worship, and it has
- no end until we die. And when we pass
- away later, if we leave behind good
- children because we intended everything
- for Allah, then Allah will record that
- as a continuous charity. Children who
- pray for us and the knowledge we have
- taught our children and others, all of
- that is a form of continuous charity
- whose rewards, God willing, flow even
- after we have passed.
- Amen.
- And the connection to the love for
- Allah is this. One thing taught by the
- Messenger is that we make sacrifices.
- This sacrifice (qurban) is a very noble
- teaching. Yes, qurban comes from the
- word qoraba yaqrobu. Meaning yataqarrab
- , becoming a form of drawing closer to
- Allah. Qurbanan. Perhaps if linked to
- the Indonesian language, the difference
- is vast. "Korban" means victim. Yes, if
- qurban is read with an 'O' versus a 'U'
- , it is different. "Kurban" with a U
- refers to a victim of an accident, a
- murder, and so on. But "kurban" with an
- O, even though spelled similarly, is a
- way of drawing closer to God. Actually,
- in the original Arabic, it is more
- precisely our way of drawing closer to
- God by sacrificing what we own and love
- . One way is by performing a sacrifice
- during the Eid al-Adha holiday. We
- slaughter a goat, or a cow, or even a
- camel if it’s available or if we are
- able to afford it. Whatever we
- sacrifice shows how much we love God.
- If we can only afford to sacrifice a
- goat, that is perfectly fine. That is
- already a great form of sacrifice for
- someone who can only afford a goat. But
- there are others who might be more
- capable. For just seven times the price
- of a goat, they can sacrifice a cow.
- Then their love for God is valued as
- more profound, or shall we say? Even
- closer to God. Their love for God is
- even greater. Yes, if someone is able
- to slaughter a camel, then it is even
- greater. Of course, everything must be
- intended for God alone, not for vanity
- or to show off to others. "Look, today
- I am slaughtering 15 goats," for
- example. Hopefully, that is not
- intended for vanity or to be seen by
- people. We must intend it for God alone
- . If we sacrifice 100 goats, it is for
- God alone. If you can only afford a
- goat, then a goat it is. What does this
- have to do with cigarettes? Many of my
- friends and people around me can afford
- to spend the price of a cow on
- cigarettes in a year, yet they cannot
- afford to perform a sacrifice. This is
- truly awful, yes, very poor. If you
- love God, how can you waste so much of
- your money on buying cigarettes? If
- calculated, for instance, a goat costs
- between 2.5 to 3 million rupiah. Yet,
- if the daily cost of cigarettes is, say
- , only 20,000 rupiah. 20,000 a day
- means 600,000 a month. In just 5 months
- . In 5 months, they have 3 million
- rupiah. Meaning, if that money wasn't
- used for cigarettes and was saved
- instead, in 5 months they could afford
- a fairly large goat worth 3 million
- rupiah. Not huge, but a decent size.
- Yet, they can afford to spend enough on
- cigarettes for 3 goats in a year, but
- they cannot afford to sacrifice even a
- single goat. This makes you question
- their love for God. Furthermore, uh...
- there are so many people who are, well,
- addicted. I always say that people
- smoke because they are addicted.
- Everyone in this world smokes because
- they are addicted. Now, if cigarette
- addiction ends up being greater,
- drowning out our love for Allah so that
- we are unable to sacrifice a goat or a
- cow for His sake, then we must question
- how great your love for Allah really is
- . Then, loving Allah and His Messenger
- also means that we obey, that we are
- obedient to Allah and His Messenger.
- Waman yuti'illaha wa rasulahu. There
- are often verses about those who obey
- or follow the commands of Allah and His
- Messenger. Now, Allah's command is
- clear: we are ordered to perform
- sacrifice if we are, of course, capable
- . So, never say you are not capable if
- you can afford to buy cigarettes equal
- to the price of a cow in a year. Never.
- The accountability for this is very
- great, you know. So, calculate the cost
- of your cigarettes per day. Just
- calculate one pack. One pack per day is
- 20,000 Rupiah, which is probably the
- cheapest one now. Let's say 20,000
- Rupiah, that means 600,000 Rupiah a
- month. That means in 5 months you are
- able to sacrifice a large goat, or if
- calculated over 1 year, 3 million plus
- 3 million, almost 7.5 million or 8
- million Rupiah for one year. You could
- get a cow. Yes. So once again, never
- think that I am sufficient to just
- sacrifice my feelings. Oh, this is
- often joked about, sir. Yes. I
- it's often joked about by people. "Oh,
- I, because I can't afford it, I'll just
- sacrifice my feelings." Sacrifice your
- feelings how? He says he sacrifices his
- feelings because his job is currently
- down, so he is not capable. Meanwhile,
- he's saying that while holding a
- cigarette. Please, let us return to
- introspecting within our own hearts.
- Never. Even though the Prophet has
- stated that the sacrificial animal we
- slaughter for the sake of Allah will
- become our vehicle in the hereafter to
- reach Allah's paradise. If you are
- still far from thinking about the
- hereafter, well once again, I say that
- this life has its limits. The limit of
- life is death. The limit of health is
- sickness. The limit of wealth is
- poverty. There is no one who is always
- healthy, there isn't. Everyone at some
- point will get sick. Now, if this
- illness eventually makes it so he is no
- longer able to worship properly. His
- worship is only prayer while on a bed.
- Even though at an age like his, he
- should still be able to, what do you
- call it? Worship perfectly and well.
- But because of smoking too much,
- eventually stroke, heart disease, and
- so on. This is what we are worried
- about. Don't let us sacrifice our
- hereafter just for our worldly life.
- Once again, we return to our topic,
- which is sacrifice to Allah.
- Sacrificing something that we love.
- Sacrificing something we love means
- this: if we feel we have something
- greater to sacrifice for the sake of
- Allah, why do we sacrifice with
- something small? Yes. Now, for the
- price of just one goat, we can—it
- doesn't have to be too big—what can
- we do? Perform Qurbani for the sake of
- Allah. Don't let the fact that you
- smoke make you unable to perform
- Qurbani. Yes, once again, the
- accountability for this is truly
- massive. Don't ever think that "oh,
- Qurbani is only for people who have
- money." You have the money, and I say
- you have more than enough; why? Because
- you are able to buy cigarettes, in a
- year at least you spend millions, right
- . Let's say 8 million, for instance,
- 105 a month, that's around 8 million to
- buy cigarettes. And you say you can't
- afford Qurbani? Inna lillahi wa inna
- ilaihi raji'un. Return to your heart.
- Ask your own heart. Do I truly love
- Allah and His Messenger? Don't ever
- think that Allah won't account for this
- . No. Allah accounts for everything;
- even the smallest things, Allah
- accounts for them. Yes, don't wait
- until you're in the afterlife to feel
- regret. Because the Quran provides so
- many examples of the regrets of those
- who, while they were alive, were unable
- or failed to draw closer to Allah.
- Drawing closer is not just about
- Qurbani; for example, in obeying Allah
- and His Messenger, yet they chose to
- obey their own leaders instead. Yes,
- this is exemplified so many times in
- the Quran through verses that begin
- with "ya laitani." Remember, every time
- you come across a verse while reciting
- or reading the Quran, every time you
- meet a verse starting with "ya laitani"
- or "ya laita," it means "if only I."
- Yes, for example: "ya laitani qaddamtu
- lihayati." If only I had prioritized my
- life for the hereafter rather than the
- life of this world. Then "ya laitani
- kuntu turaba." If only I had been mere
- dust. Because those people, because
- they didn't have the chance or didn't
- do anything useful for their religion
- while alive. So when they die, on the
- Day of Judgment, they will say "ya
- laitani kuntu turaba." Meaning, if only
- I were just dust so I wouldn't have to
- be held accountable; that is impossible
- . Yes. "Ya laitanam fulanan khalila."
- If only I hadn't taken so-and-so as a
- close friend, as a companion, and so on
- . So once again, let's calculate what
- we spend our money on today. If you
- spend so much money on things that are
- secondary or even useless. Remember, if
- you say smoking is beneficial for you,
- it's only because you are already
- addicted. Meaning, once you are
- addicted, you feel you must smoke. If
- you don't smoke, you claim you can't
- work. Exactly. Because you are already
- addicted. But if you don't smoke, you
- can do things normally without needing
- to smoke first. Yes, so once again, God
- willing, this will also motivate you.
- It will motivate you to quit smoking.
- Because, after all, everyone will
- eventually stop smoking. What's the
- difference, Maseng? Quitting smoking
- voluntarily, or being stopped by the
- cigarettes. God willing, we won't be
- stopped,
- due to sickness or death. Right, so
- moving back to the qurbani issue. Once
- again, qurbani is a form of our love
- for Allah. When we have plenty of money
- , we sacrifice more for Allah. A bigger
- cow, or moving from a goat to a larger
- cow. Yes, meaning if you were able to
- sacrifice a goat, once our economy
- improves, we sacrifice a cow. Why not?
- Why not? Yes. Or if you want to go
- bigger, like a camel or others. If we
- want to sacrifice a camel, for instance
- , and maybe it's not available here, we
- can go through foundations that help
- you sacrifice in other countries or
- places. Of course,
- it's best if it's done locally. But if
- you want to sacrifice elsewhere besides
- your own country, you can get in touch
- with foundations that can help us
- sacrifice in other nations, like Yemen,
- Syria, Africa, and so on. There are so
- many options. Well, I think that's all
- for my conclusion this afternoon, Ms.
- Nuning. But we aren't closing the door
- to further developments based on your
- questions. Of course, to remind you
- that qurbani is a form of our love for
- Allah. Don't let it be said that you
- don't love Allah and His Messenger just
- because you can afford cigarettes but
- not a sacrificial animal.
- Mashallah. So even if you can't afford
- a pack, half a pack still adds up to an
- incredible amount.
- But regarding whether it really means
- your love for the Messenger and Allah
- is gone, that feels quite bitter,
- doesn't it? But that's another
- perspective we just heard that might
- open up a new understanding for us. Now
- , as you reflect on that and think, "
- Yeah, that's true," let's watch this
- next segment. We'll be back in your
- living room shortly. Yes. Thank you for
- staying with Rasil. For one Islam, on
- the health program discussing qurbani
- and cigarettes with Fuad Baraja, and we
- can go straight to the questions. I
- One thing you need to note, brothers
- and sisters. Mr. Fuad Baraja is someone
- who can help and make it easier for us
- to quit our habits, addiction, or
- behavior,
- this dependency behavior on cigarettes
- using methods that have helped many
- friends who want to stop smoking. You
- can note the number, I will provide it
- again at the end, so that the
- difficulty of parting with this habit
- can be overcome: 0811 866 411. Once
- again, 0811866411. And regarding
- yesterday, it happened to be World No
- Tobacco Day, May 31st.
- May 31st.
- Yeah. Congratulations to our guest
- speaker, Mr. Fuad Baraja. Because for
- him, it's not just about May 31st being
- tobacco-free, but every day, every
- moment, every time, which hopefully
- will persuade, influence, and motivate
- everyone to be tobacco-free every
- single day. Okay, the number has been
- noted. Let's move on to the question
- that appeared here. "I am a small
- vendor on the side of the road.""I
- really want to not provide, not not
- provide cigarettes.""But I'm sorry,
- they are the best sellers.""Do you have
- any advice, Ustaz?""I actually feel
- ashamed hearing this, but what should I
- do?" Okay.
- Yes. Yes. Yes. Uh, this is probably
- just a matter of perspective, Ma'am.
- Maybe what, Ma'am? Is it a gentleman,
- sir? Does he have a name?
- No name. Oh.
- Okay. A small roadside vendor who sells
- cigarettes. They ideally don't want to
- sell cigarettes. But because cigarettes
- are the best sellers, right? Cigarettes
- have become the best-selling item. Not
- just the best-selling; during the COVID
- pandemic, while all products or
- industries collapsed, cigarettes
- remained triumphant. There is almost no
- such thing as a recession for
- cigarettes. Yes. So here is the thing,
- Ma'am. The issue is you just have to be
- convinced, okay? Strengthen your faith.
- Provision is arranged by Allah. It is
- impossible for Allah to provide
- sustenance from something bad,
- something dirty, something that in this
- case brings disease. Yes.
- It's not that He won't provide
- sustenance, but what kind of sustenance
- ?
- Good sustenance is sustenance that we
- intend for the sake of Allah. And it is
- impossible for you to sell cigarettes
- for the sake of Allah. So if you really
- want to sell something else, sell other
- items or goods, if you sell, if you
- sell what do you call it? Uh, there are
- so many things currently in front of
- you, cigarettes are just one of the
- many, right? You only say that
- cigarettes are the best sellers. True.
- Because cigarettes are addictive. They
- will always be sought after by people.
- Yes, it's just that the difference
- between us and other countries is that
- they strive as much as possible to keep
- their young generation away from
- cigarettes. Why? Because this young
- generation is what the tobacco industry
- is looking for. The tobacco industry
- targets our teenagers, our children are
- targeted. Because if they start smoking
- , they will be customers forever until
- they die. Now, let's think about that.
- Make the intention, "O Allah, I am
- leaving this cigarette trade for the
- sake of Allah." Why? The hadith is very
- clear, Ma'am. Whoever leaves something
- for the sake of Allah, whoever leaves
- something because of Allah, then Allah
- will replace it with something better.
- Now the problem is, do you believe in
- the Messenger of Allah? Do you have
- faith in the Messenger of Allah?
- Because our faith varies, you know. It
- means not just in Allah, but in the
- angels, the scriptures, the books of
- God, the Last Day, and the messengers.
- We are obligated to believe. Not just
- trusting, but truly believing. Because
- we may be convinced, we believe that
- the Messenger of Allah existed, but
- believing is different. His teachings
- must enter our hearts. Especially when
- one of them says that if we leave
- something for the sake of Allah, Allah
- will replace it with something better.
- There have been so many, Ma'am. So many
- people already. So many people have
- confessed to me. "I no longer stock
- cigarettes in my shop, Sir." Everything
- still runs fine. There are no problems.
- It is impossible for your shop to go
- bankrupt just because you don't sell
- cigarettes. It’s impossible, Ma'am.
- Not possible. Because Allah loves what
- is clean, Allah loves what is good,
- Allah loves what is pure, Allah loves
- what is right. Yes, because cigarettes
- are already clear. I mean, if you talk
- to someone who smokes or someone who
- profits from a cigarette factory, for
- example, they will say, "Ah, who ever
- died because of cigarettes? Nobody."
- That is how they always look for
- justifications. Even though the data, I
- am telling you, from the Ministry of
- Health, people who die from diseases
- caused by cigarettes number more than
- 200,000 a year. This is data, I am not
- just talking nonsense. Now, what if one
- of those people who died did so because
- they bought cigarettes at your place?
- What would the accountability be? So,
- from now on, set your intention.
- Set your intention. It is not about
- leaving something that we actually need
- . Not at all. You are provided
- sustenance by Allah through good paths.
- There are many paths. Sustenance comes
- in many ways. Yes, for a thief,
- stealing is their source of income. A
- thief gets income from the goods they
- steal. Meaning, they steal, they get
- income. That is income, but it is bad
- income, evil income, and certainly not
- lawful. So, let us strive, one of which
- is by not doing anything that brings us
- closer to what is forbidden. Yes, many
- scholars have issued fatwas that any
- forbidden item—even selling it
- carries the impact of that prohibition
- or sin. Yes, if you ask clerics who
- might still say that smoking is makruh
- (disliked), because currently there is
- a split, as some say it is makruh and
- some say it is haram. But those who say
- it is haram are far more numerous.
- During the fatwa deliberation on
- smoking in Padang Panjang about 11 or
- 12 years ago, it was very clear that 83
- %of scholars declared smoking
- absolutely haram. Only 17%said it was
- makruh.
- So, that can be a consideration.
- Therefore, smoking is haram. Why is
- that? Because the object itself,
- cigarettes, can cause diseases and so
- on. So anything that is dangerous and
- causes disease is considered*khabit*,
- or in plural, *khabaits*. Now, in Surah
- Al-A'raf verse 157, it is mentioned
- that the Messenger of Allah—the
- unlettered prophet—leads them to do
- good and forbids them from doing evil.
- "He makes lawful for them what is good
- and prohibits for them what is evil."
- The Messenger permits all that is good
- for them and forbids all that is evil.
- So, if you can believe and be convinced
- that cigarettes are a bad thing and
- their nature causes disease, then
- cigarettes are haram. Clear. Because
- they fall under those*khabaits*. *
- Khabit*, the plural is*khabaits*, right
- . But if you talk to a smoker who
- benefits from cigarettes, they'll say,
- "Oh no, cigarettes are not haram." Well
- , you decide whether you trust them
- more or trust the Messenger. Because
- the Messenger said—or rather, the
- verse explains—that the Messenger
- leads people to do good, forbids them
- from doing evil, permits what is good,
- and forbids what is bad. The verse is
- very clear. Al-A'raf verse 157. You can
- look at Al-A'raf 157. Yes, that's right
- . Please open your Quran and its
- translation again. You will find that
- anything bad is considered haram or
- forbidden by Allah and His Messenger.
- Okay, let's move to the next question,
- which likely represents others since
- this isn't the only WA message like
- this. From Ibu Juni or Yuni in Ciputat.
- My husband is an extremely active
- smoker because, even though he just
- recovered from a mild stroke,
- cigarettes and coffee have become his
- consumption again.
- Allahu Akbar.
- Even though it's forbidden. He even
- becomes someone without empathy when I
- forbid him from smoking inside the
- house. Since I happen to have
- bronchitis, he gets angry at my
- prohibition. I feel upset. And I feel
- like I just want to stop caring about
- his illness. How is this, Pak Fuad
- Sukron?
- Oh my God. Yes, perhaps if you are
- someone in this position, you shouldn't
- feel discouraged, may Allah help you.
- There are many other people, may Allah
- help them. And what is clear is that
- there are millions of people like you
- in this republic. Yes.
- Once again, ask for help from Allah.
- There are many ways, I will discuss
- them later. But pray, pray for your
- husband, ask Allah to give him guidance
- . "O Allah, help my husband to be freed
- from this cigarette addiction." Keep
- trying not to forget that prayer after
- every obligatory prayer. God willing,
- never tire of praying until Allah
- grants it. Yes, there are many examples
- in the Quran. But what is clear is that
- a person who has already had a "mild"
- stroke— "mild" is our human term,
- right? Mild stroke, severe stroke. If a
- stroke is still mild, people say it's
- mild and you can still recover. But
- recovery is actually a warning. You
- were given a warning in the form of a
- stroke, but granted recovery because it
- was just a mild one. You shouldn't go
- back to the things that caused that
- stroke. How can you be given recovery
- or a mild stroke, yet go back to the
- activities that bring you closer to
- another one? Yes, cigarettes clearly
- cause strokes. Don't think it only says
- it causes cancer, heart attacks, or
- impotence. There are so many losses
- caused by smoking. If they wrote it all
- down, the pack would be full and there
- would be no room left. That is just
- what is written. So, once again, if you
- have a mild stroke and recover, you
- should be truly grateful. One way to
- show gratitude is not to get close to
- the things that caused that stroke.
- Unfortunately, the wife is the one
- asking, but the husband is the one
- smoking.
- But I am talking to you here, and there
- are probably thousands of people
- listening, right?
- Yes. Yes. Yes, yes. It means perhaps
- there are people who have been given an
- illness due to smoking. Let's realize
- that
- uh
- there is still time.
- It is true that God is giving you a
- warning that, God willing, can still be
- managed and corrected. Don't let it get
- worse, which could restrict your daily
- activities and, of course, limit our
- acts of worship later on. Yes, this is
- similar. Uh, Ustaz, I want to force my
- husband to listen to Rasil's YouTube
- since he is not at home. So he realizes
- —believe it or not, he didn't buy
- milk when his wallet was empty, but he
- bought cigarettes instead. I'm sorry,
- and he is a teacher, too. How do you
- deal with this? Yeah.
- How do you deal with it? So, Ma'am, you
- are...
- Yeah. Yes. Tell me.
- I'm sorry, Ma'am. Smoking doesn't
- discriminate, Ma'am. It doesn't care if
- you're a teacher or anyone else. I know
- that for a fact, Ma'am. Many
- specialists are smokers too, Ma'am.
- Yes. A lot of them. So,
- smoking knows no boundaries of social
- status, profession, or age. Yes, I have
- handled a child as young as two years
- old who smoked, Ma'am. And there are
- many such cases. If you search on
- YouTube for "baby smoker," you will see
- a cute, chubby, dark-skinned little kid
- . His name is Aldi Rizal. This child
- had been smoking since he was 11 months
- old, Ma'am. It sounds like a fairy tale
- , right? I met his mother, the child,
- and his father in person. I met them at
- the National Commission for Child
- Protection years ago because the child
- was brought from Musi Banyuasin, South
- Sumatra, to Jakarta to get help to quit
- smoking. Thank God, he has stopped
- until now. But he started smoking at 11
- months old, right? So, these cigarettes
- are not ordinary objects, they aren't
- just anything. These are
- extraordinarily powerful things. It’s
- just that because cigarette companies
- always use deceptive tactics, they make
- it seem like smoking is cool, exciting,
- and great. Just look at those cigarette
- ads; they are all misleading. Every
- single cigarette ad is misleading. Yes,
- I say the goal is to trap new smokers.
- That is the purpose of cigarette
- advertising. Because the whole world
- has banned them; yes, countries all
- over the world have banned cigarette
- ads. Why? Because they don't want their
- younger generation poisoned by the
- tobacco industry. Yes. Uh, back to the
- previous question, which is, uh...Maybe
- like this, ma'am. If we keep being,
- what? Too confrontational, fighting
- them, saying don't smoke, do this, do
- that, eventually they get tired of
- hearing it. Later, they might smoke
- even more outside, it could get worse.
- But clearly, provide understanding; you
- can use YouTube, like Rasil's YouTube,
- or books. I have many books on the
- issue of smoking; please contact my
- mobile number if you need them. I have
- three books about the smoking problem,
- you can see them on my WhatsApp.
- Then, most importantly, is prayer,
- ma'am. A wife's prayer for her husband
- is, God willing, a prayer that will be
- granted and answered by Allah. Because
- you are praying for your husband to
- draw closer to Allah. Because someone
- who smokes is moving away from Allah. A
- person who smokes is in the process of
- moving away from Allah because they
- commit something forbidden hundreds of
- times a day. Meaning, if you count one
- puff, one cigarette is smoked about 20
- times. If they smoke 16 cigarettes, 16
- times 20.
- Usually 25, so about 400 puffs. Just
- imagine, every puff distances us from
- Allah because it is an activity
- forbidden by Allah. Because we are
- plunging ourselves into the abyss of
- destruction. Yes, in the Quran it is
- clearly stated, "Do not throw
- yourselves into destruction." So, the
- verses presented here, ma'am, are not
- verses intended specifically to stop or
- ban smoking. No. Because in the time of
- the Prophet, when the Quran was
- revealed, there were no cigarettes. So
- there are no verses that explicitly say
- smoking is forbidden. But it forbids a
- person from throwing themselves into
- the abyss of destruction. Verses that
- show one should not do anything that
- causes disease or harm and so on are
- very numerous. So, ma'am, once again,
- don't forget to pray. Ask Allah, don't
- get tired, ma'am. Don't get tired of
- praying so that when the time comes,
- Allah will answer it. There are many,
- ma'am. Very many.
- Let me give you one example before I go
- back to Ms. Nining.
- There was once a famous band member,
- right? I forgot his name. Oh my God,
- I'll forget it if I don't write it down
- . He played in a famous band. He was a
- heavy smoker. Then he went on the Hajj.
- What did he do? This story is in my
- book. He prayed and asked Allah at the
- Kaaba. In front of the Kaaba, he asked,
- "O Allah, keep me away from things that
- are bad for this world and the
- hereafter." Notice his prayer, "keep me
- away." He asked to stop smoking. Maybe
- he couldn't stop smoking on his own. "
- Keep me away from bad things in this
- world and the hereafter." Subhanallah.
- After he left the Kaaba and headed to
- his hotel, every time he smoked, it
- tasted terrible. The cigarette tasted
- bitter and, basically, there was no
- enjoyment at all.
- He was confused, wondering why he was
- fine smoking earlier, then suddenly he
- remembered his prayer.
- He.
- Could this be the answer to my prayer?
- He immediately threw the cigarette away
- and hasn't smoked since.
- So, there is nothing, Ma'am, nothing
- that can stop Allah from doing what He
- wills. So Allah can do anything, you
- see. Including stopping the smoking
- habit, as long as you ask for help from
- Allah. Amen.
- Yes. Wasta'in bisobri wasalah. Seek
- help through patience and prayer. That
- is clear, right. Please, Ma'am.
- Yes. This is the last one, Ustaz. In my
- opinion, smoking has a bad impact on
- health. A preventive measure for
- individuals that is just as important
- is prevention through government advice
- and appeals. Closing tobacco factories,
- because that is the source of the
- problem. If the government is truly a
- proper authority, just close the
- cigarette factories. Okay, that may be
- the desire of many people, even though
- regarding the application and
- implementation, we have to wait, who
- knows when, and
- before the closing statement from...
- No, no, I need to answer this first.
- Okay. Yes, please.
- Just a little bit, Ma'am.
- I don't know if it's Ma'am or Sir. Oh,
- perhaps a Sir. Triabani. Okay, Mr. Tri
- Rabani.
- All over the world, Sir, there is no
- country that closes cigarette factories
- . None. There are no cigarette
- factories closed by force. None. Yes,
- let me tell you. But they provide clear
- rules, regulations, or laws. First, the
- price of cigarettes is made very
- expensive.
- One stick for 100,000 Rupiah.
- It can be more. For example, a pack of
- cigarettes that costs 25,000 or 30,000
- Rupiah here, in Singapore it's already
- 130,000, and in Australia, it reaches
- 400,000 to 450,000 Rupiah per pack. A
- pack that costs 30,000 here is 130,000
- in Singapore and over 400,000 in
- Australia. It's not that they don't
- close the factories. They don't do it,
- so why? So that our children cannot
- afford to buy cigarettes. So cigarettes
- aren't sold individually like here.
- It's not allowed. Imagine if a single
- cigarette cost 40,000 or 20,000 Rupiah.
- And even then, they aren't sold
- individually. And that is one of the,
- uh, rules they implemented, the
- convention they adopted regarding
- cigarette prices. Second, cigarette
- advertising is prohibited because the
- purpose of cigarette ads is to ensnare
- new smokers. That is why almost every
- country in the world bans cigarette
- advertising. Then the third is the
- restriction of smoking areas. People
- are allowed to buy cigarettes. They
- might afford to buy cigarettes for
- 400,000 rupiah, but they are not
- allowed to smoke just anywhere. The
- penalties are clear. The fines are
- extremely high, reaching millions, if
- people smoke in prohibited places. Yes,
- that's it. Now, these things will make
- people stay away from cigarettes, and
- eventually, the number of smokers will
- decrease because why? There is no
- regeneration of new smokers. That is
- the goal. There’s no need to shut
- them down. If our children don't smoke,
- cigarette factories will go bankrupt on
- their own. Let me repeat that, sorry.
- If our children don't smoke, cigarette
- factories will go bankrupt. This was
- stated by the tobacco industry itself,
- you know. In one of their secret
- documents, they said that today's
- teenagers are tomorrow's customers. If
- today's teenagers don't smoke, then the
- tobacco industry will go bankrupt, just
- like a society that does not produce a
- successor generation. It will go
- extinct. Think about it. So once again,
- while we wait for a smarter government
- that can protect the public from the
- dangers of smoking, let us protect our
- children. One way is by providing
- information about the dangers of
- smoking regularly and continuously.
- Don't ever get tired of it, okay? Then,
- by, uh, setting an example. If you are
- still unable to quit smoking, keep your
- children away from exposure. Don't let
- your child see you smoke, let alone
- send your child to buy cigarettes. This
- is a tremendous act of stupidity. Yeah.
- Sending a child to buy cigarettes is
- stupidity. I ask why? Later, if they
- want to smoke for themselves, they will
- say to me, "My father told me to." Yes,
- once again, do not ask children to buy
- cigarettes. Do not smoke in front of
- them, as they will imitate your
- behavior. The children I mentioned
- earlier, smoking from the age of two,
- even as young as 11 months, it all
- happened because they saw their parents
- smoking, you see. So do not sacrifice
- your children, but let's save our
- children from this cigarette addiction.
- If our children do not smoke, the
- tobacco industry will close on its own,
- as has happened in many other countries
- . Yes, go ahead.
- Yes, yes. This is from, uh, Mrs. Nur
- Jamah. "I feel like giving up on
- advising my family—my siblings—
- about smoking, Sir.""Sometimes when
- they are sick and ask for medicine, I
- just say, 'Once the cigarette factories
- close, only then can you be cured of
- your sickness.'""And guess what their
- answer is?""Well,""'Even goats don't
- smoke, and they still get sick anyway.'
- ""If we get an answer like that, what
- should we do?""Well, Mr. Fuad, thank
- you very much for the beneficial
- knowledge and advice for us." We all
- pray, don't we, that those families who
- still have an ashtray and like to sniff
- around other "ashtrays" besides the
- real ones, well, you know what that
- means. Okay, let's summarize today's
- discussion regarding still smoking
- while supposedly loving Allah and His
- Messenger. Go ahead. Right. Uh, let's
- repeat from the start. The goal—sorry
- , the title of this episode is loving
- Allah, specifically for those who smoke
- . It relates to the Qurbani, the animal
- sacrifice, for the upcoming Eid al-Adha
- which is not far off now, maybe in a
- month and ten days.
- Oh, more like ten days away, God
- willing, we will be able to perform
- Qurbani with sincere love for Allah,
- sacrificing lillahi ta'ala. To show our
- love for Allah and His Messenger. Yes.
- Now, how does this relate to what we
- mentioned earlier? Our ability to
- afford these sacrificial animals is
- hindered by our spending on something
- useless. Yes, if you say cigarettes are
- useful to you, it's only because you
- are already addicted. If smoking is
- truly useful, why don't you tell your
- wife to smoke? If cigarettes are good,
- why don't you tell your children to
- smoke? So, there’s no need to look
- for justifications. Let’s think,
- let’s return to a healthy mindset
- that smoking is globally recognized as
- causing so many health problems. It has
- been proven by over 70,000 scientific
- studies that smoking is linked to at
- least 26 types of health disorders.
- Therefore, let's move away from these
- health risks and closer to Allah by
- sacrificing the best animal we can
- afford through our wealth. If we don't
- smoke, we save at least 6 million
- rupiah or even more. If you smoke two
- packs a day, you could sacrifice a cow.
- Try calculating it yourself. It’s
- very clear, isn't it? So, don't try to
- find justifications. Yes. Then, protect
- our children from exposure by not
- letting them see people smoking. Keep
- your home free from smoking behavior by
- not allowing anyone to smoke inside the
- house. You are the homeowner. You have
- the authority there. Don't be defeated
- by a guest. If a guest wants to smoke,
- say, "Please, sir.""You can smoke
- outside.""I am protecting my children
- so they don't see people smoking.""If
- you want to smoke, please go outside."
- There's no problem with that. It is
- perfectly fine for you to keep your
- home smoke-free. In fact, I saw, Ms.
- Nuning, in West Sumatra, in the city of
- Padang Panjang,
- there are many houses with signs on
- their doors, written with digital
- printing, not just with a marker.
- Uh-huh. "
- We do not accept guests who smoke."
- Uh-huh. Their awareness of the dangers
- posed by becoming passive smokers due
- to someone else's cigarette smoke is
- extraordinary; it has reached that
- level.
- Buying cigarettes is buying disease and
- the like. Those words are written so
- often on the front doors of their
- houses, aren't they? So once again,
- let's keep away, let's keep the dangers
- of cigarettes away and draw ourselves
- closer to Allah. One way is by not
- smoking, and then using the money we
- saved to buy a sacrificial animal. The
- more useless things we leave behind,
- the more we can afford a bigger, better
- sacrifice. Meaning, instead of a goat,
- we could sacrifice a cow, or maybe even
- a camel, and so on. Come on, let's draw
- even closer to Allah. Show an even
- greater love for Allah Subhanahu wa
- ta'ala and His Messenger by leaving
- behind bad behavior, dirty habits, and
- useless things. Yes, because one proof
- of someone's good Islam is by leaving
- behind things that are not useful. The
- hadith is clear. Min husni islamil
- mar'i. Of course, this hadith is not
- specifically about cigarettes. Once
- again, there is no hadith revealed or
- conveyed by the Messenger of Allah
- regarding cigarettes. There isn't one.
- Because in that era, there were no
- cigarettes. Yeah. So again, there are
- no hadiths or Quranic verses directly
- related to the act of smoking. But it
- is well established that smoking causes
- diseases, making it something "khabith"
- or in the plural, "khaba'ith". There is
- "do not, do not," so to speak, "cast
- yourselves into destruction.""Wala
- tulqu bi-aydikum ila at-tahlukah,"
- there is the verse. Then, as an example
- , the signs of a believer. What is one
- of the signs of a believer? It is in
- Surah Al-Mu'minun, "Qad
- aflahal-mu'minun, alladhina hum..."
- those who turn away from useless things
- . Those who turn away from things that
- are not useful. That is one proof of
- your love for Allah. Yes, if we love
- Allah, we must leave what is forbidden.
- Yes, if we are still doing things
- forbidden by Allah and His Messenger,
- it means we don't yet love Allah and
- His Messenger. That's enough, right?
- Yeah, that's really cool. Hopefully,
- your love for that one thing has
- already ended. Right. Earlier, Mr.
- Fuad's number was 0811. 866. 411 again,
- 0811866411. He will...
- For those who perhaps have not been
- able to quit smoking and want to quit,
- God willing, it can be helped by...
- It will be facilitated through...
- Helped by therapy.
- Therapy here, yes. Yes.
- Okay. But before I leave this room,
- there is information that some time ago
- , it was very difficult for Dr. Bobi,
- he was far from Jakarta, in Oslo—oh
- wait, in Solo, right? He happens to be
- at the Aryaduta Apartment, Tower 9,
- unit 9E, treating knee pain, stroke,
- and also spine issues. Please, if you
- happen to be...he is still at the
- Aryaduta Apartment Tower 9 Unit 9E,
- please contact 0822. 6527. 707 7099.
- Once again, 082265277099. With Umi Eli.
- Once again, I hope that our time
- together in this health session today
- will provide benefits, making it much
- easier to move forward, especially for
- those who are addicted to that one
- thing. Billahi taufik wal hidayah.
