0:16 In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious 0:16 , the Most Merciful. May the peace, 0:17 mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon 0:18 you. 0:19 And may the peace, mercy, and blessings 0:19 of Allah be upon you too. 0:20 O Allah, bestow blessings upon our 0:21 master Muhammad and upon the family of 0:22 our master Muhammad. Praise be to Allah 0:24 , we meet again today, Friday, the 14th 0:27 of Jumada al-Akhir 1447 Hijri, or 0:29 December 5th, 2025. We meet again for 0:33 the program "Reflections Under the 0:34 Shade of the Qur'an" with Ustaz Husin 0:35 bin Hamid Alatas for our Q&A edition. 0:38 Please, if you have any questions, feel 0:40 free to send them to 0811999720. Also 0:45 present here are Ondi and Algi. Peace 0:48 be upon you, Ustaz. 0:49 And peace, mercy, and blessings of 0:50 Allah be upon you. Very well, let us 0:51 begin this program by reciting 0:52 al-Fatihah. I seek refuge in Allah from 0:58 the accursed Satan. In the name of 1:04 Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most 1:05 Merciful. All praise is due to Allah, 1:11 Lord of the worlds. The Most Gracious, 1:17 the Most Merciful. Master of the Day of 1:22 Judgment. It is You we worship and You 1:27 we ask for help. Guide us to the 1:32 straight path. The path of those upon 1:38 whom You have bestowed favor. Not of 1:42 those who have evoked [Your] anger or 1:44 of those who are astray. Praise be to 1:53 Allah, we have finished reciting 1:54 al-Fatihah. May Allah make it easy for 1:57 us to grasp the answers given by Ustaz 1:59 Husin bin Hamid Alatas. Very well, the 2:03 first question comes from Mr. Dadang in 2:06 Cikampek. Greetings. 2:09 Peace be upon you, Ustaz Husin. 2:11 Ustaz, may the peace, mercy, and 2:12 blessings of Allah be upon you. I am 2:14 someone who finds it difficult to 2:15 memorize. So, whenever I pray, I always 2:17 use a prayer book. Is my prayer 2:20 sufficient? Ustaz, just reading the 2:22 question from Mr. Dadang in Cikampek. 2:27 In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious 2:29 , the Most Merciful. All praise is due 2:34 to Allah, Lord of the worlds. Abundant, 2:39 good, and blessed praise as our Lord 2:43 loves. O Allah, bestow blessings upon 2:48 Muhammad and the family of Muhammad. 2:53 Our Lord, increase us in knowledge and 2:56 wisdom. O Allah, grant us mercy from 3:01 You and bestow upon us beneficial 3:04 knowledge. Our Lord, increase us in 3:10 knowledge and wisdom. Peace be upon you 3:13 , O Messenger of Allah. Peace be upon 3:15 us and upon the righteous servants of 3:17 Allah. And may the peace, mercy, and 3:19 blessings of Allah be upon you. 3:22 Answering Mr. Dadang's question. Mr. 3:26 Dadang, you are free in how you pray. 3:30 Whether you pray without reading a text 3:33 of the prayer or by reading from a book 3:38 , provided that those prayers are 3:40 entirely in accordance with Allah's 3:43 provisions and guidance. We offer our 3:47 prayers only to Allah Subhanahu wa 3:49 ta'ala. Then, before we ask of Allah, 3:54 we precede it with salawat (blessings 3:56 upon the Prophet). As we know that the 4:01 role of our Prophet is to bring 4:04 guidance from Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala 4:07 . Allah made him a guide, made him a 4:12 light, and he has done such a great 4:15 service for all of us believers. So, 4:21 after we praise Allah, send blessings 4:23 upon His Messenger, then we seek 4:25 forgiveness, we petition to Allah. 4:28 Whether it is a prayer we have 4:30 memorized or one recorded in a book, we 4:33 offer it entirely to Allah, and we do 4:36 not associate partners with Allah 4:38 Subhanahu wa ta'ala in our prayers. But 4:43 the important thing in reciting a 4:46 prayer is that we understand the prayer 4:48 we are reading. We understand the 4:52 prayer that 4:52 we read. Because we are speaking to 4:55 Allah. If we pray just by reading words 4:58 we do not understand, it means it is 5:00 not coming from our hearts. Now, if you 5:04 understand some of the prayers from the 5:06 Qur'an, understand their meanings, or 5:08 prayers from our Prophet Muhammad 5:09 sallallahu alaihi wasallam. Then that 5:12 is good. Now, if you cannot speak 5:15 Arabic, pray in Indonesian. Either 5:20 outside of prayer or when we are in 5:22 prostration during prayer after we 5:24 recite "subhana rabbiyal a'la 5:26 wabihamdih." When you are praying a 5:31 voluntary prayer not in congregation, 5:33 where you are not bound by 5:34 congregational rules, you may perform a 5:36 long prostration. After praising Allah, 5:39 we make our supplications to Him. If 5:42 necessary, shed tears with full focus, 5:44 humility, and sincerity. Supplications 5:48 like these are highly answered. So the 5:52 purpose of this prayer is for us to 5:54 convey all our needs and desires to 5:56 Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, our Most 5:58 Merciful and Compassionate Lord. 6:02 Therefore, these prayers should come 6:04 from our hearts, understood in 6:06 accordance with our specific needs and 6:08 desires. How rich are the believers 6:12 even when they are destitute and poor. 6:15 They beg from the One who is 6:16 All-Wealthy. How strong are the 6:18 believers even when they are weak. They 6:20 seek refuge in Allah, the All-Powerful. 6:24 So, in our prayers, we should truly 6:27 feel that we are speaking and lifting 6:30 our hopes to Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, 6:33 the Most Generous and Merciful, who 6:36 hears our whispered prayers. And Allah 6:40 knows best. 6:42 Alright, next is from Mr. Dodi Suwondo. 6:47 Peace be upon you, Ustaz Husein. 6:48 Yes. Ustaz, is the door of ijtihad 6:51 still open in this modern era, and who 6:53 has the right to practice it? Hmm. 6:57 In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious 6:58 , the Most Merciful. The Quran is the 7:03 holy book that Allah has made our guide 7:08 for life. Allah established it as our 7:11 guide. Allah established it as our 7:14 direction. Allah established it as the 7:16 Furqan, the separator between truth and 7:19 falsehood. Allah established it as the 7:22 light that illuminates our path through 7:24 the darkness of life. Allah also 7:27 established it as a cure, a healer, and 7:29 a mercy. Therefore, based on what Allah 7:34 Subhanahu wa ta'ala explains regarding 7:37 the role of the Quran, its validity 7:40 lasts for all time. It is not just for 7:45 the time when our Prophet lived or when 7:48 the companions lived, but the Quran's 7:51 role as a life guide, a direction, a 7:54 light, and a separator between truth 7:57 and falsehood—as a standard and value 8:00 system—is valid for all time. Now, 8:06 the companions, in accordance with the 8:08 challenges they faced, returned to the 8:10 Quran. Then came the Tabi'in, and 8:16 various events and incidents emerged. 8:20 They also referred to the Quran, asking 8:24 Allah about the rulings on new problems 8:27 they faced which did not exist in 8:30 previous times. The Quran provides 8:35 guidance and signposts for us to answer 8:39 the challenges of the times. Likewise, 8:44 the Tabi 'al-Tabi'in and the great 8:46 mujtahid imams came. They returned to 8:50 the Quran and the Prophet's Sunnah to 8:52 face the challenges of their eras. 8:56 Therefore, ijtihad continues to take 9:00 place in accordance with the challenges 9:02 of the times being faced. Now, if 9:05 ijtihad stopped during the era of the 9:07 mujtahid imams, then what? It would 9:11 mean that Islam would no longer be able 9:13 to answer the challenges of the times 9:15 that did not exist in those periods. 9:19 Thus, new ijtihad is needed from our 9:21 scholars who are truly capable and meet 9:24 the requirements for ijtihad. Yes, not 9:27 just mastering jurisprudence without 9:30 evidence, but mastering every law by 9:33 referring to its evidence, whether from 9:36 the Book or the Sunnah of our Prophet 9:39 Muhammad. peace and blessings be upon 9:41 him and his family, and he is capable 9:43 of developing his skills and abilities 9:45 to answer the challenges of the times. 9:48 He masters the language of the Quran 9:50 well. He also understands the various 9:55 disciplines of Quranic sciences. And he 9:59 also understands the traditions of the 10:02 Prophet related to the cases being 10:05 faced. So, if a person is truly trained 10:10 to do this, having the qualified 10:13 ability to return to the Book of Allah 10:15 and the traditions of His Messenger, 10:18 God willing, he will easily find 10:20 answers that are in accordance with the 10:23 challenges of the times being faced. 10:29 Because the Quran is the knowledge of 10:32 Allah which encompasses the unseen, the 10:35 present, as well as the past. There is 10:39 nothing hidden from Allah. And Allah 10:42 says, "Ma farratna fil kitabi min shay' 10:44 ." We have not neglected anything in 10:46 the Book. Everything that humans need, 10:50 whether in the past, present, or future 10:53 . The answers have actually been 10:55 prepared by Allah in the Quran. It is 10:58 up to the scholars to explore it, to 11:01 research it, until they can provide 11:03 answers that settle their hearts and 11:06 offer solutions for the community. But 11:11 if current scholars return to the 11:13 jurisprudence and opinions of past 11:15 scholars to face the challenges of the 11:18 times, this is an inappropriate 11:20 response. 11:22 Hmm. Because what is being faced today 11:25 is different from what was faced by 11:27 Imam Shafi'i, Imam Malik, Imam Ahmad 11:28 bin Hanbal, Abu Hanifah, and others. 11:31 And they did not know the unseen. So 11:34 let us not follow the words of some 11:37 irrational people who say, "ma akala 11:40 al-awwaluna lil-akhirin." The 11:44 predecessors left nothing for those who 11:46 are to come. This is a false statement. 11:50 If the holy Quran answers all the 11:52 challenges of the times, it is true. 11:55 And Allah will deploy people who are 11:58 truly what? God-fearing, people who are 12:01 deep in their knowledge to answer the 12:04 challenges of the times by referring to 12:07 the Quran and Sunnah. Because the Quran 12:10 is a standard of life that applies 12:12 throughout all time. So if people say 12:16 we are not justified in performing 12:18 ijtihad, and we are obligated to return 12:20 to the opinions of scholars in the past 12:23 . 12:24 Like those who hold to this opinion 12:26 among the followers of the salaf, this 12:29 is a disaster for the community. 12:33 And it freezes the role of the Quran in 12:36 the true sense. Whereas the Quran is a 12:40 pillar of our faith. 12:41 Yeah. So every challenge of the times 12:43 has its answer. From where? It is 12:46 impossible for us to return to past 12:48 scholars who did not witness them. For 12:50 example, if someone asks regarding 12:53 cloning, regarding transplantation, 12:58 of organs, and also regarding what? 13:02 Let's say, blood transfusion. Is it 13:06 possible for us to answer from the 13:07 jurisprudence of past scholars? It is 13:09 impossible. Because these cases did not 13:11 exist for the scholars of the past. So 13:14 by referring to the Quran and the 13:16 Sunnah of the Prophet, from the 13:17 guidelines that Allah Subhanahu wa 13:20 Ta'ala has provided, scholars answer 13:22 the challenges of the times. Therefore, 13:25 the validity of the Quran never expires 13:28 . Unlike the jurisprudence of scholars, 13:31 its validity might expire with their 13:34 passing. Heh. 13:36 Therefore, a mujtahid who addresses the 13:38 challenges of this era is a living 13:41 mujtahid. Now, this living mujtahid 13:44 observes whether the challenges of the 13:46 times they face have already been 13:48 addressed by scholars of the past. They 13:50 take a look. And if they find several 13:53 answers, they choose the one most 13:55 consistent with the guidance of the 13:57 Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet, 14:00 truly safeguarding the safety and 14:02 well-being of the Ummah. Because Allah 14:07 Subhanahu wa ta'ala, through His 14:09 religion, wishes to provide ease and a 14:12 more beautiful path for them. 14:16 Yuriidullahu bikumul yusra wa la 14:17 yuriidu bikumul 'usr (Allah intends for 14:18 you ease and does not intend for you 14:19 hardship). Likewise, He has not placed 14:22 upon you in the religion any difficulty 14:24 . So, to the gentleman who asked, 14:26 ijtihad cannot possibly be stopped. If 14:30 he stops ijtihad, it means he stops the 14:33 teachings of Islam, 14:35 which would then only be capable of 14:37 answering the challenges of the past. 14:38 It is no wonder, then, that the Muslim 14:41 community today is left behind or 14:43 abandoned and has no role, except 14:45 perhaps within the mosque speaking only 14:48 about rituals. Then what is it that 14:50 they are unable to answer? They call 14:51 things bid'ah (innovation) because they 14:52 did not exist in the time of the salaf 14:54 (predecessors). This means what they 14:56 follow is no longer Allah, not His 14:58 Messenger, not His Holy Book, but what 15:00 they worship is the salaf. 15:02 Whoever those salaf may be, the salaf 15:05 are people who preceded us, who 15:07 answered the challenges of their own 15:10 times. They are responsible for what 15:13 they did. H. 15:15 But to answer the challenges of this 15:18 era, a mujtahid must emerge who 15:20 addresses these challenges according to 15:23 the guidance of Allah and the Sunnah of 15:26 His Prophet. Wallahu a'lam (Allah knows 15:28 best). 15:29 Alright, next from Mr. Yahya in Serang, 15:31 Banten. Assalamualaikum, Husin. Ustaz, 15:34 is the task of revelation to correct 15:36 reason, or is the task of reason to 15:38 interpret revelation? From Mr. Yahya in 15:40 Serang, Banten. 15:41 Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. When Allah 15:45 Subhanahu wa ta'ala sent down our 15:48 forefather and grandmother, Allah 15:54 reminded them, and also reminded their 15:57 descendants. Fa imma ya'tiyannakum 16:01 minni hudan faman tabi'a hudaya fala 16:02 yawillu wala yashqa (Then if there 16:04 comes to you guidance from Me, whoever 16:05 follows My guidance will neither go 16:07 astray nor suffer). If My guidance 16:10 reaches you, then whoever follows My 16:13 guidance will not be lost and will not 16:15 be miserable. Wa man a'rada fa inna 16:20 lahu ma'ishatan danka (And whoever 16:20 turns away from My remembrance-indeed, 16:21 he will have a depressed life). Whoever 16:25 turns away and does not heed, does not 16:28 care about the lessons and warnings I 16:31 provide, will live in distress, in a 16:34 narrowness that will suffocate them. Wa 16:39 nahsyuruhu yaumal qiyamati a'ma. And We 16:42 will gather them on the Day of 16:44 Resurrection blind. Qala rabbi lima 16:49 hasyartani a'ma wa qad kuntu bashira. 16:52 He says, "My Lord, why have You 16:56 gathered me blind, while I used to be 17:00 able to see?" Answered by Allah, 17:04 kadzalika atatka ayatina fanasitaha. 17:09 That is your recompense. Before, when 17:12 Our verses came to you, you forgot them 17:15 . Now, you are also among those who are 17:17 forgotten. Likewise, Allah explains, 17:22 Allahu anzala al-kitaba bil-haqqi 17:24 wal-mizan. Allah who sent down the Book 17:26 with the truth. Yes, meaning the 17:29 absolute truth. Wal-mizan, also 17:31 functioning as a balance and the 17:33 highest standard. Allah who placed us 17:38 on this earth. As khalifah (stewards), 17:42 it is impossible for Allah to let them 17:44 live without guidance. If they do not 17:49 receive guidance from Allah, then their 17:52 deviations and incorrect behavior 17:54 cannot be blamed, because they have not 17:56 yet received guidance and warnings from 17:59 Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. So Allah 18:03 sent down His holy book and the sunnah 18:05 of His Messenger, yes. Uh, Allah 18:07 Subhanahu wa ta'ala sent down His book. 18:10 Then He made His Messenger the teacher 18:12 who practices the contents of the 18:14 Qur'an and explains it to them. Not 18:19 just as a lesson that we can take or 18:22 leave, but as the true guide for life 18:26 and the highest standard, where we 18:31 return all the values of our lives to 18:34 the noble Qur'an and refer to the 18:38 sunnahs of our Prophet Muhammad 18:41 sallallahu alaihi wasallam that are in 18:44 harmony and alignment with the Qur'an. 18:49 Because whatever is not in harmony or 18:51 alignment with the Qur'an, we can be 18:53 sure that it is not the sunnah of the 18:55 Messenger, but an infiltration 18:56 attempting to confuse our understanding 18:58 of the religion. Now, the question is, 19:03 does the Qur'an function to correct the 19:08 intellect? Does the intellect function 19:11 as what? As an interpreter that 19:14 interprets the Qur'an. Allah Subhanahu 19:18 wa ta'ala has made us His vicegerents ( 19:20 khalifah), Mas Krishna. Granting us 19:22 intellect. With the intellect that 19:26 Allah has given to humans. Humans are 19:27 responsible 19:29 for all their attitudes, actions, and 19:31 speech. If a human does not possess 19:36 intellect or loses their intellect, 19:38 they no longer function as a mukallaf ( 19:40 accountable person) or a khalifah. 19:43 Therefore, Allah's law does not apply 19:45 to those who are not sane. Yes, the law 19:47 is also suspended for those in a coma 19:50 until they awaken. Or a person who is 19:53 asleep, say they sleep in so late that 19:57 they unknowingly miss the Fajr prayer. 20:00 When they are asleep, they are not a 20:02 mukallaf; once they wake up from their 20:04 sleep, at that moment they are 20:06 obligated to perform the prayer they 20:08 missed. Because of what? Because they 20:09 were asleep. Even though it is already, 20:13 yes, let's say even though it is past 20:15 the dawn time, the moment they remember 20:17 , they perform wudu and pray at that 20:18 time. 20:20 Because of what? Because when they were 20:22 asleep, yes, at that time their status 20:24 was not in a state of possessing 20:26 intellect. Therefore, this role of 20:29 intellect determines whether a person 20:31 is a mukallaf or not, or responsible or 20:34 not responsible. So Allah Subhanahu wa 20:38 ta'ala speaks to humans according to 20:40 the intellect and knowledge that Allah 20:42 has given them. Allah also speaks to 20:46 them according to what? According to 20:49 their ability to absorb guidance and 20:52 instruction. Allah will not ask them 20:55 about what they do not know. Therefore, 20:58 if a person unintentionally, out of 21:00 ignorance even after having learned, 21:02 makes a mistake, they are forgiven by 21:04 Allah. "Tujaawiza an ummatii al-khat'a 21:10 ..."(forgiven from my ummah are those 21:12 who make a mistake), or they forget, or 21:15 they are forced into an act against 21:17 their will. But, actions performed 21:23 based on understanding, choice without 21:29 any coercion, that is what will later 21:31 be accounted for before Allah. So, 21:34 first of all, we have explained 21:37 previously that revelation is the 21:40 highest standard of values. It is 21:43 guidance that comes from Allah, not 21:45 from humans. He is also the light that 21:48 illuminates the darkness of our lives. 21:51 He is also a mercy that God has 21:54 bestowed upon us so that we humans do 21:57 not become guinea pigs. Becoming guinea 22:02 pigs for some other humans. But 22:04 directly 22:07 all the issues of our lives are 22:09 illuminated by the guidance of Allah 22:11 Subhanahu wa ta'ala regarding our 22:13 individual lives, our social lives. 22:17 Likewise regarding our economic life, 22:20 regarding rights, parents' rights, 22:22 children's rights, wives 'rights, 22:24 husbands' rights. There is not a single 22:29 issue in our lives that has not been 22:30 explained by Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala 22:32 in the Qur'an and elaborated upon, 22:33 detailed by our Prophet, and also 22:35 through the life practices of our 22:36 Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa 22:38 alihi wasallam. Then we ask, what is 22:42 the role of reason? 22:44 What is the role 22:44 of reason? I will give a simple analogy 22:49 for Mr. Yahya. 22:51 Mr. Yahya, if someone, Mas Krishna, has 22:57 healthy eyeballs. Everything is healthy 23:03 and sound, but if they are in darkness, 23:05 can they see? 23:06 No. 23:08 With the presence of light 23:10 Yeah. 23:10 our healthy eyeballs can see. It is the 23:14 same with reason. Reason on its own is 23:18 full of limitations. It is impossible 23:23 for us to be able to know our God well 23:25 through our reason alone. We are 23:28 certain there is a creator who created 23:30 the universe. But to know Him, His 23:34 attributes, and His names without 23:36 introduction from Allah is impossible. 23:40 And it is not possible for us through 23:42 reason to know what Allah desires from 23:44 us as His servants. placed on earth as 23:46 His caliphs. Therefore, Allah 23:51 intervenes to explain to us where we 23:53 came from, then where we will go, then 23:56 why we are placed in this worldly life? 24:00 And how we can live correctly in 24:02 accordance with what is desired by 24:04 Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. Everything 24:07 is informed by Allah in the Qur'an. 24:10 Allah explains where we came from. 24:12 Allah also explains Himself as the 24:14 creator with no partners unto Him. 24:17 Allah also explains us as His caliphs 24:20 on earth, responsible for our choices. 24:23 Then Allah provides guidance on how to 24:25 live properly and also explains the 24:28 final day when we are gathered, 24:30 resurrected, and held to account by 24:32 Allah. Allah explains the place for 24:34 believers who obey Allah is in paradise 24:36 , and those who are defiant and 24:37 disobedient are in the torment of His 24:39 hellfire. All that with absolute 24:40 justice. It is impossible at all for 24:42 our reason to be able to understand 24:44 that. Likewise, with just the reason 24:48 that Allah has given us, we cannot 24:51 ensure whether what we are doing is 24:55 right or not. 24:56 H 24:57 what is the proof? Differences of 24:59 opinion occur among humans in 25:00 determining the truth. 25:02 Hm. 25:04 So Allah sent down the true guidance. 25:07 The word "al-haqq" means that which is 25:09 certainly the truth. the truth which is 25:16 certain, which comes from your Lord. 25:18 So do not be among those who are 25:20 doubtful and hesitant. Therefore, in 25:24 the midst of differences of opinion, 25:26 differences also in what? Differences 25:29 in ways of life, where among humans, 25:32 each believes in their own truth. The 25:34 light of Allah arrives to provide 25:36 illumination. This is the true way of 25:38 life. This is the guidance that comes 25:42 from your Creator, explaining that in 25:44 the hereafter, you will be resurrected 25:46 by Allah and gathered to be held 25:48 accountable. When you need something, 25:51 come to Allah; pray to Him. Allah has 25:54 provided His names, which are so 25:55 beautiful. 25:57 When you are afraid of something, take 25:59 refuge in Allah. Therefore, Suratul 26:02 Fatihah is the essence of the Qur'an. 26:05 If a person understands it correctly, 26:07 what kind of life will they truly have? 26:10 Living in peace on the path and 26:12 guidance of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. 26:14 So, Mas Krishna, what is the intellect 26:17 (akal)? It is the greatest gift from 26:21 Allah to mankind. Because once our 26:24 intellect is taken away, even if we are 26:26 handsome, beautiful, or possess all 26:28 sorts of advantages, we lose the 26:30 meaning of our humanity. But the 26:33 intellect is a gift from Allah 26:34 Subhanahu wa ta'ala that Allah has 26:36 bestowed upon us. With the intellect, 26:38 we are held accountable before Allah 26:40 Subhanahu wa ta'ala. Therefore, in a 26:42 narration from the Ahlul Bait, "ma 26:45 khalaqallahu saaian afdola minal aqli." 26:48 Allah did not create anything more 26:50 noble than the intellect. Now, what I 26:53 mean by intellect is not just "trickery 26:55 " or whims. Yeah. 26:57 The intellect here is a gift from Allah 26:59 Subhanahu wa ta'ala that makes humans 27:01 worthy of being addressed by Allah and 27:03 responsible for their lives. Now, if 27:08 the human soul is governed by the 27:10 intellect, then life will surely be 27:13 righteous. But if this human soul is 27:16 governed by its desires and its 27:19 intellect is imprisoned, then it will 27:21 become more terrifying than a wild 27:24 beast. So in understanding the Qur'an, 27:28 Bapak Yahya, Allah has actually 27:30 provided a beautiful guidance and 27:33 method for us. Which is not followed 27:37 enough by most people. So, the 27:40 intellect receives light and 27:42 illumination from the Qur'an. It is not 27:45 meant to force the Qur'an to follow the 27:46 intellect. That is a big mistake. 27:48 Instead, the intellect is like an eye 27:50 that receives light. With the presence 27:53 of light, the eye can distinguish 27:55 between flat roads, holes, oceans, 27:58 hills, and mountains. Yeah. 28:00 Now, the intellect is the same. The 28:03 intellect does not control the Qur'an, 28:06 but the intellect is like an eye 28:08 illuminated by light so that it can see 28:12 . Likewise, the revelation of Allah 28:14 Subhanahu wa ta'ala serves as the light 28:16 illuminating the intellect, showing the 28:19 way. Regarding the method of 28:22 interpreting the Qur'an, Allah has 28:24 explained to us that we should not 28:26 interpret the Qur'an in fragments or 28:29 isolation, 28:30 but rather interpret the Qur'an by 28:33 connecting the related verses. Then we 28:36 draw a conclusion in what way? In a 28:40 comprehensive way, not by interpreting 28:41 verses piece by piece. Yeah. 28:44 Therefore, scholars of Tafsir, 28:46 including the Usulis and the 28:48 researchers, agree that "Al-Qur'an 28:51 yufassir ba'duhu ba'd," the Qur'an 28:54 interprets itself. 28:57 For example, Mas Krishna, 28:59 when we talk about destiny (takdir) 29:02 or about divine decree (qada), 29:04 we find that the scholars differ. 29:07 Hm. 29:09 There are the Mu'tazila, the Ash'ari, 29:10 and other groups as well. Let's say the 29:13 Jabariya or the Salafi; their 29:15 interpretations differ. Even though 29:18 this is a very important issue. Why? 29:23 They differ in interpreting the meaning 29:26 of destiny, or qadar and qada, because 29:29 they do not return to the Quran, which 29:32 explains the intent of those terms. If 29:37 we gather the verses that contain the 29:40 word "qadar," we understand that it 29:43 explains the laws and rules that govern 29:46 the life of the entire universe with 29:49 full wisdom. Such as regulating our 29:53 earth, rotating on its axis, orbiting 29:56 the sun along with its planets, and the 29:58 sun along with all its planets orbiting 30:00 the center of its galaxy. That is 30:03 explained clearly in Surah Yasin. And 30:05 the sun runs its course. Towards its 30:10 destination. So the sun is "destined" 30:20 —meaning determined by a perfect law 30:23 — 30:25 along with all its planets, to orbit 30:27 the center of its galaxy. Just as the 30:29 earth also orbits what? It orbits the 30:31 sun. Allah explains, "Everything 30:35 created by Allah has a perfect measure 30:37 and size.""Indeed, We have created 30:40 everything with qadar." Indeed, 30:42 everything We have created with a 30:44 measure and size. Allah also reminds us 30:47 to glorify Him so that we do not 30:51 misunderstand the decrees of Allah 30:56 Subhanahu wa taala which are so perfect 30:59 . In the name of Allah, the Most 31:00 Gracious, the Most Merciful. Glorify 31:03 the name of your Lord, the Most High. 31:07 Who created and perfected His creation 31:10 with complete balance. Then Allah 31:13 emphasizes, "And who has ordained and 31:16 guided." And He who established the 31:18 measure, the rules of law for all His 31:21 creations. And guided. Then Allah gives 31:24 us guidance to understand it. Various 31:26 scientific disciplines were born, 31:29 derived from these natural laws 31:31 established by Allah Subhanahu wa taala 31:33 . Physics, biology, geology, and 31:35 astronomy were born, all derived from 31:37 the natural laws established by Allah 31:39 Subhanahu wa taala. So, if we return 31:43 the word "takdir"(destiny) to the Quran 31:45 , it does not explain to us that human 31:47 deeds are determined by Allah without 31:50 any choice. This is the Jabariyah 31:52 ideology, which is far from the Quran. 31:54 But destiny explains to us that Allah 31:57 has established and created everything 32:00 with rules that are truly perfect. Now, 32:05 it remains for us to follow Allah's 32:08 rules; 32:08 if we do, 32:09 we will progress; if we violate Allah's 32:12 rules, we will perish. Therefore, when 32:15 people ask, "Mas Krishna, the events 32:19 happening in North Sumatra, whether in 32:21 Aceh, Medan, or West Sumatra in Padang, 32:23 is that destiny?" The answer is no. 32:26 That is a violation of Allah's destiny. 32:28 Allah created our earth with full 32:31 balance. 32:33 He created trees in the middle of 32:35 forests to absorb water to protect 32:37 against landslides and floods. Also to 32:40 keep our earth's temperature from what? 32:43 From heating up beyond its limits. But 32:47 human hands destroy Allah's destiny, 32:50 cutting down forests due to greed and 32:53 avarice. Ultimately causing our soil to 32:55 become fragile. The soil also no longer 32:59 absorbs water as a reserve. 33:01 The earth's temperature rises, and 33:03 natural disasters occur. Then Allah is 33:05 blamed for His destiny. 33:07 This is a violation of the destiny of 33:09 Allah Subhanahu wa taala. So, this is 33:11 the picture, Mr. Yahya. If we want to 33:14 understand a term in the Quran, we 33:17 should not interpret it separately from 33:20 the others. 33:21 But 33:22 we must gather the verses that speak 33:24 about destiny. 33:28 Then we can conclude that the use of 33:30 the word "destiny" in the Qur'an is 33:32 different from what is intended by the 33:35 Jabariyah school. 33:36 Hm. If the Muslim community returned to 33:39 the Qur'an and interpreted the Qur'an 33:41 with the Qur'an, such contradictions as 33:43 we see today would not happen. So, as 33:47 Allah reminds us in the surah, in which 33:51 surah? In Surah Al-Hijr. "Qul inni anan 33:55 nadhirul mubin." Say, O Messenger, " 33:58 Indeed, I am a clear warner.""Kama 34:01 anzalna 'alal muqtasimin," as We have 34:04 sent down upon the dividers. " 34:08 Muqtasimin" in Arabic means those who 34:10 divide. "Alladhina ja'alul qur'ana' 34:13 idhin." Meaning those who divide the 34:16 Qur'an and separate its verses instead 34:19 of interpreting them as a single unity. 34:22 "Fawabbika nas'alannahum ajma'in." So 34:25 by your Lord, by your Lord, We will 34:27 surely question them all. "Amma kanu 34:30 ya'malun," about what they used to do. 34:33 Because they interpret the Qur'an 34:35 separately, not as a single unity. 34:37 Ultimately, it creates contradictory 34:39 understandings. So many scholars who 34:44 interpret the Qur'an do not follow the 34:46 method of interpretation taught by 34:49 Allah. Now, if we interpret verses with 34:53 other verses, for example, when we ask, 34:56 "Who are the people referred to as the 34:59 pious?" 35:00 Hm. 35:00 What is piety (taqwa)? The Qur'an 35:02 explains it in Surah Al-Baqarah twice. 35:06 Even at the beginning of Surah 35:08 Al-Baqarah, when Allah says, "A 35:10 guidance for the pious," Allah explains 35:12 , "those who believe in the unseen," 35:14 and so on. Likewise, when Allah 35:17 Subhanahu wa ta'ala explains the true 35:19 meaning of righteousness (al-birr). 35:21 Allah mentions the criteria: "Laisal 35:24 birra wujuhakum." Until Allah closes 35:26 the verse with, "They are the pious." 35:29 Likewise in Surah Ali 'Imran. Who? And 35:41 so on. So if we interpret taqwa or the 35:44 pious without referring to the Qur'an, 35:46 the interpretation ends up being 35:48 confused. 35:50 Hm. 35:51 We usually interpret taqwa as someone 35:53 who performs commands and avoids 35:55 prohibitions. 35:56 Let's interpret it according to the 35:58 Qur'an's explanation so it is more 36:00 detailed, so people understand the 36:02 intent of the Qur'an. Likewise, the 36:05 words for denial or disbelief (kufr) in 36:08 the Qur'an are used for those who have 36:12 known the truth and then denied it. 36:15 Hm. 36:15 Likewise, faith (iman) is explained in 36:17 the Qur'an; what is the meaning of 36:18 faith? Not just believing, not just 36:20 being convinced, but belief and 36:22 conviction accompanied by what? By. 36:26 Actions that are in accordance with 36:28 their convictions. Like Allah's word: " 36:30 The believers are only those who have 36:31 believed in Allah and His Messenger and 36:33 then have not doubted but strive with 36:34 their properties and their lives in the 36:36 cause of Allah." Likewise, through 36:38 Allah's call, "O you who have believed. 36:41 " As in Surah Al-Hujurat, every time 36:44 Allah calls those who believe, Allah 36:46 explains the guidance and His commands, 36:48 which are the criteria for those who 36:50 believe. But if we go outside the 36:54 Qur'an, interpret the Qur'an separately 36:56 from what? The verses that explain 36:59 faith, it eventually creates an 37:02 understanding that is truly imperfect. 37:05 So, Mr. Yahya, the Qur'an or revelation 37:08 is the highest standard of values. When 37:12 we face problems, as the Messenger 37:15 commanded, we return to the Qur'an. 37:19 Then we return to His Messenger; 37:21 naturally, we examine the narrations 37:23 that come from the Messenger regarding 37:25 those issues. And we do not interpret 37:28 the Sunnah separately from the Qur'an, 37:30 but keep it integrated within the 37:32 Qur'an. Whatever is in harmony, in line 37:35 , and in rhythm, we accept; what is not 37:37 , we reject because we are certain the 37:39 Prophet could never oppose the Quran. 37:43 Now, reason is a tool Allah has given 37:47 us to understand the truth explained by 37:51 Allah. Just as the eye sees once it 37:54 receives light, it will not see in 37:57 darkness. So, the existence of this 38:00 revelation is vital, and it is what? It 38:04 is Allah's proof in the hereafter later 38:05 on. And humans could argue to Allah, " 38:09 You never gave us any guidance or 38:11 warnings at all." 38:13 Therefore, the speech of those with 38:15 insight belongs to Allah. 38:19 If he believes, he is among those with 38:20 insight for Allah. But if he acts 38:23 insolently before the Quran. Even 38:30 arrogantly he says, "Those who claim 38:32 the occurrence of environmental damage 38:35 is due to what? Due to 38:38 human behavior. 38:39 Human behavior. He says this is a 38:41 stupid view that shows no understanding 38:44 . 38:44 Innalillahi." And he says that as a 38:48 liberal Muslim, in his view, we hold 38:51 the position—according to him—that 38:54 if there are irrational verses of the 38:57 Quran they are all temporary in nature. 39:03 When needed, we use them; when not 39:05 needed, we abandon them. So he assumes 39:09 he is someone, yes, who judges the 39:12 Quran, who judges Allah. Just as easily 39:15 as he calls humans stupid, he assumes 39:17 his God is the same. 39:19 Hm. 39:21 This is truly a person blinded by his 39:24 love for the world; he is willing to 39:26 say to those who do not like Allah's 39:28 verses and His guidance at all, "We 39:31 will be tolerant with you." What fits 39:35 from the Quranic verses, we hold onto. 39:38 What is disadvantageous, we cast aside. 39:40 It is truly a great catastrophe for 39:43 Nahdlatul Ulama, which is an 39:45 organization founded by noble fighters. 39:49 It turns out there are people like this 39:51 . Waliyadubillah (May Allah protect us) 39:52 . May Allah save the Ummah from people 39:55 like this. And if he does not change at 39:59 all and repent to Allah, we pray to 40:02 Allah to show His power and His truth 40:04 to all mankind over the arrogance of 40:07 such a person. And I see, wali 40:11 iyadubillah, this person seems 40:14 difficult to receive guidance 40:17 because he is arrogant and his attitude 40:20 resembles that of Iblis. who spoke 40:22 before Allah even though he knew Allah 40:24 was his Creator. When asked, "Why do 40:27 you refuse to prostrate before Adam?" 40:28 He said, "I am better than him. 40:31 You created me from fire and You 40:33 created him from clay." If Adam and Eve 40:36 sinned, their sin was before their weak 40:39 desires, and once they realized, they 40:42 repented. But if one is brave enough to 40:45 commit the sin of arrogance against 40:47 their Lord, then such a person cannot 40:50 be held to or trusted. I intentionally 40:54 act or speak firmly on this matter to 40:56 remind the Ummah that this is not a 40:58 game. Speaking as if before Allah is 41:02 not a game. 41:03 If you want to be a liberal, go ahead. 41:08 But saying "liberal Muslim" does not 41:09 exist. A Muslim is someone who is 41:11 obedient, submissive, surrenders to 41:13 Allah, and accepts what comes from 41:15 Allah. But a liberal person lives 41:17 freely in their own way. They follow 41:21 whatever suits their desires, abandon 41:23 what doesn't, and easily view others as 41:25 stupid for not being like them. 41:30 May Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala show His 41:32 power and a lesson to those who are 41:35 defiant and arrogant. May Allah protect 41:38 us from this. Alright, this next one is 41:41 from Mr. Bambang in Jakarta. As-salamu 41:43 alaykum. 41:44 Wa alaykumu s-salam. 41:44 Ustaz, a friend apostatized after 41:47 watching a YouTube video that says 41:50 Muslims consider Jesus to be a Muslim 41:52 because he was circumcised and did not 41:55 eat pork. Whereas that pastor said 41:57 Jesus was also baptized in the Jordan 42:00 River. Please share your response, 42:01 Ustaz. 42:02 In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious 42:03 , the Most Merciful. Our Lord, increase 42:05 us in knowledge and join us with the 42:07 righteous. People can just speak as 42:11 they please. They speak whatever they 42:16 like. Just as many among Muslims speak 42:21 far from the guidance of Allah. 42:25 Fantasizing. And then also making grand 42:29 promises. Yes, that people don't need 42:31 to do good deeds. As long as people 42:34 love the Messenger and hold the 42:35 Prophet's Birthday celebration, the 42:37 Messenger will intercede for them. 42:41 Likewise, those who claim to be 42:43 followers of Jesus or followers of the 42:46 Messiah, peace be upon him. Some of 42:51 them say, "Whatever evil, deeds, or 42:54 sins we commit, as long as we believe, 42:57 Jesus is our savior, Jesus will save us 43:01 ." There is a similarity between those 43:05 people and the Muslims who feel they 43:07 don't need to do good deeds, even if 43:10 they commit evil, engage in corruption, 43:12 or perform immoral acts, as long as 43:14 they love the Prophet and celebrate his 43:17 birthday, they will be saved. These are 43:20 all just empty wishes. If religious 43:23 guidance is like this, then human life 43:26 will experience ruin. But Allah firmly 43:30 states, "As for him whose scales are 43:32 heavy [with good deeds], he will be in 43:35 a pleasant life." Those whose scales of 43:38 deeds are heavy with faith and 43:40 righteous actions will live a life full 43:43 of satisfaction. But on the contrary, " 43:46 And as for him whose scales are light, 43:48 his refuge will be Hawiyah." Those 43:49 whose scales are empty, filled with 43:52 evil, and far from righteous deeds, 43:54 their place of return is Hawiyah. "And 43:57 what will make you know what it is?" Do 43:59 you know what is called Hawiyah? "A 44:01 blazing fire." A raging fire of immense 44:05 heat. This is Allah's explanation. So 44:08 whoever does an atom's weight of good 44:09 will see it, and whoever does an atom's 44:11 weight of evil will see it. Allah also 44:14 confirms that those who will be saved 44:16 in the hereafter are those who believe 44:18 and do righteous deeds. "Indeed, those 44:20 who have believed and done righteous 44:21 deeds...""...they are the best of 44:28 creatures." 44:32 While conversely, "Indeed, they who 44:34 disbelieved among the People of the 44:36 Scripture and the polytheists will be 44:37 in the fire of Hell, abiding eternally 44:39 therein. Those are the worst of 44:41 creatures." So the best of humans 44:44 according to Allah are those who 44:46 believe and do righteous deeds, and the 44:48 worst of humans are those who deny 44:50 Allah their Creator and associate 44:52 partners with Him, which is clearly 44:54 stated in the Quran. So, that pastor 44:58 who said that Jesus is considered by 45:00 Muslims to be a Muslim because he was 45:03 circumcised and did not eat pork. Then 45:07 he said, "Jesus was baptized in the 45:09 Jordan River." We want to know, where 45:11 is the data from? Hmm. 45:13 Authentic data, that is. We ask, don't 45:17 you believe that before Jesus, there 45:20 were prophets and messengers sent by 45:23 Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala? Then where 45:28 do these oddities, deviations, and 45:29 irregularities come from? How could 45:33 Jesus become the Son of God? Whereas we 45:39 know that beforehand, there were 45:41 prophets, a chain of prophethood. Yes. 45:44 Then Jesus as the Son of God, and 45:46 afterwards it jumps to our Prophet 45:47 Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam as 45:49 a prophet and messenger again. 45:52 What is the basis for this? In Islam, 45:58 faith explains to us that Allah 46:00 Subhanahu wa ta'ala is the Creator, He 46:02 is also the Sustainer, the One who 46:04 controls, and He is also the One who 46:07 will eventually cause us to pass away 46:11 and end our worldly life. Then Allah 46:13 will resurrect us again. In the 46:15 Trimurti belief, what do they believe? 46:20 Hindus believe that the creator is who? 46:24 Brahma. The sustainer is Vishnu. While 46:30 Shiva is the destroyer, tasked with 46:32 destroying, let's say, a society, a 46:35 people, or a region because of the sins 46:38 committed by humans. In Islam, it is 46:43 not like that. Allah Subhanahu wa 46:45 ta'ala explains clearly that the entire 46:47 universe, the heavens, and the earth 46:49 are the creation of Allah; He maintains 46:52 and regulates them. Angels will not do 46:54 anything without the permission of 46:56 Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. So, angels 47:00 are not minor deities. Angels are 47:02 servants who obey Allah and carry out 47:05 Allah's commands. Even a single 47:07 raindrop does not fall except by 47:09 Allah's permission. Angels will not 47:11 descend to carry out something except 47:14 by the command of Allah Subhanahu wa 47:16 ta'ala. But among those who believe 47:21 that God is divided into three persons. 47:28 First, the Father in heaven, then the 47:30 Son who descended to earth on the 47:32 grounds of redeeming the sins of 47:34 humanity. Then the Holy Spirit. In 47:37 Islam, it is clear that the Holy Spirit 47:38 is a holy angel. Um 47:40 who was assigned by Allah to support 47:42 the Messiah and also support Maryam 47:44 alaihialatu wasalam, who brought the 47:46 good news that she would give birth to 47:48 a child and provided support to her 47:50 when the Messiah was still a child to 47:52 answer those who accused her of what? 47:55 As a woman who committed a shameful act 47:58 . The Quran clears her name. So if they 48:03 say as they please that Jesus is what? 48:07 Is someone who was also baptized. I ask 48:09 , who baptized him? Then if we open the 48:14 Gospel that exists today, there is not 48:16 a single indication stating what? That 48:19 Jesus is the Son of God. 48:24 So if we talk about this only based on 48:27 claims without evidence, without proof, 48:30 then that is something incorrect. We 48:34 ask, why is the Gospel divided into 48:36 four? If it is indeed a holy book 48:40 received by the Messiah alaihialatu 48:42 wasalam, it should be one book. But why 48:45 are the versions different? 48:47 Isn't that extremely strange? This is a 48:50 very strange thing. Therefore, we 48:53 invite our brothers and sisters of the 48:55 Christian faith, whether Catholic, 48:58 Protestant, or others. Let us seek the 49:01 truth for our own salvation. In Islam, 49:05 we are not taught or commanded to force 49:08 people to believe, but we are invited 49:11 to think. And Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala 49:14 values those who seek the truth. Not 49:17 those who follow traditions and their 49:19 own desires. But let us open ourselves 49:21 to listen to the truth that comes from 49:23 Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala in His holy 49:25 book. Read Surah Al-Imran, which 49:28 explains Maryam and her mother who 49:31 vowed themselves to Allah. Then the 49:34 birth of Jesus from a noble, holy woman 49:36 , and how the Messiah, in his life's 49:38 journey, invited humans to worship 49:40 Allah and not associate anything with 49:42 Him. And Jesus, or the Messiah, he also 49:46 worshipped Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. 49:48 And uniquely, from the time of Prophet 49:50 Noah until the last prophet, all 49:53 invited people to worship Allah and not 49:55 associate anything with Him. Now, if 49:58 someone apostatizes because they 50:00 listened to the statement from this 50:01 pastor, that is their choice. If they 50:05 can accept lies as what? As their 50:08 consumption, then this kind of person 50:11 is someone who does not deserve to be 50:13 respected at all. Therefore, you can 50:16 ask GPT about the truth of your words. 50:21 GPT, which is not a creature created 50:23 directly by Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, 50:25 although produced and generated by 50:27 humans created by Allah, turns out to 50:29 be able to testify honestly and 50:30 correctly. But these pastors, most of 50:35 them live...Live from where? From their 50:37 congregations. If their congregations 50:40 did not support them at all, where 50:42 would they live from? 50:44 The same applies to scholars who live 50:45 from their congregations. Sometimes, to 50:48 please their congregations, they betray 50:50 Allah and His Messenger. Instead of 50:53 conveying the truth, they actually 50:54 bully and lie to their congregations so 50:56 that the congregations remain loyal to 50:58 them. Whereas those who convey the 51:01 mission of the prophets and their 51:03 successors are those who convey Allah's 51:05 mandate without expecting any reward 51:07 from them. Say: "I ask of you no reward 51:09 for this, it is but a reminder for all 51:11 the worlds." Thus, brothers and sisters 51:14 who are blessed by Allah Subhanahu wa 51:15 ta'ala. So, we hear about various cases 51:19 like this, we do not need to be 51:20 surprised. People who want to, let's 51:25 say, accept these blind doctrines, 51:29 please go ahead. But the person who 51:33 seeks the truth, who expects the 51:34 pleasure of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, 51:36 they will not waver at all. Even when 51:39 faced with various kinds of doubts, a 51:42 heart that believes in Allah based on 51:45 truth will never doubt, even if they 51:47 are alone. Even if they are all alone, 51:51 they will not be shaken by the doubts 51:54 that circulate and spread. Because what 51:57 they yearn for is not this world, but 51:59 the true truth. Therefore, let us 52:01 purify our intentions, fully expecting 52:04 the pleasure of Allah. Seeking the 52:07 truth without arrogance, without 52:09 fanaticism, God willing, we will find 52:11 the true truth. As an example for those 52:15 who ask or for what? For the pastor 52:18 mentioned earlier or for those who 52:21 apostatized, let us shift, please read 52:24 Jeffrey Lang's book titled "Struggling 52:27 to Surrender." He is a professor 52:32 of mathematics, 52:33 mathematics at the University of Kansas 52:35 . You can read about his experience of 52:37 entering Islam. And many others, 52:40 including Prof. Maurice Bucaille. 52:44 who conducted research on the mummy of 52:47 Pharaoh, discovered factual truths, and 52:49 also performed comparative studies 52:51 among the existing holy scriptures. 52:54 Hopefully, this becomes what? It 52:57 becomes a lesson for us all. And in our 52:59 preaching here at Rasil, we do not 53:01 indoctrinate people at all. Revelation 53:04 is not doctrine. 53:05 Yes. 53:06 Revelation is light that comes from 53:08 Allah, our Creator. 53:09 Revelation is a light that comes from 53:11 Allah, not a doctrine. Doctrine 53:12 originates from humans. We do not 53:14 invite people to accept blind doctrine, 53:17 but rather invite them to enter the 53:19 light of Allah, His guidance, and His 53:21 path. May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala 53:24 guide us to live a better life. Keeping 53:28 our steps on the path that Allah 53:30 Subhanahu wa Ta'ala is pleased with. 53:33 Gathering us with His messenger, his 53:35 family, and his noble companions, and 53:37 may Allah save us from the torment and 53:39 punishment in the hereafter. 53:41 Subhanakallahumma wabihamdik, ashadu 53:43 alla ilaha illa anta, astaghfiruka wa 53:45 atubu ilaik.
