- Brothers and sisters who are blessed by
- Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. How are you
- doing this afternoon? May you all be in
- good health today. The Thursday edition
- of the afternoon lecture is here again
- to accompany you wherever you are. We
- will listen to a lecture and advice
- that will be delivered by Ustaz Zain
- Alhadi. Alhamdulillah, he has arrived
- at the studio. Peace be upon you, and
- Allah's mercy and blessings, Ustaz.
- And peace be upon you, and Allah's
- mercy and blessings.
- This afternoon, we will discuss
- sustenance, Ustaz.
- Good sustenance.
- Good sustenance. Does that mean if
- there is good sustenance, there is bad
- sustenance?
- Yes. But not from Allah.
- But not from Allah.
- Not from Allah.
- When talking about sustenance, we are
- talking about how to obtain it. There
- are many kinds of sustenance and its
- effects can be quite varied, right,
- Ustaz?
- Yes.
- Hmm. Alright, brothers and sisters.
- Later, before we delve into the Q&A, as
- usual, Ustaz Zain will first present
- his material regarding the topic to be
- discussed this afternoon. Good
- sustenance. Please, Ustaz.
- Alright, thank you. In the name of
- Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most
- Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of
- the Worlds. Praise and gratitude be to
- Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, our Creator
- who brought us into existence, who
- sustains us, protects us, and provides
- for all our needs. Allah Subhanahu wa
- Ta'ala is the Almighty, whose power is
- limitless. The Provider of sustenance,
- whose giving is limitless and whose
- ability is limitless. He is the Allah
- whom we worship. Peace and blessings be
- upon the beloved Messenger, and upon
- his family and his companions.
- Listeners and viewers who are loved by
- Allah. InshaAllah, on this occasion, we
- will discuss together regarding good
- sustenance. Good sustenance is
- sustenance that comes from Allah. We
- will discuss all of this based on the
- holy verses of the Qur'an. So,
- everything in this Islamic religion
- that we can believe in, follow, and
- trust is the holy word of Allah
- Subhanahu wa Ta'ala and the hadith of
- the Messenger sallallahu alaihi
- wasallam or the Sunnah. The first verse
- is in Surah Al-Baqarah, verse 168. In
- the name of Allah, the Most Gracious,
- the Most Merciful. O mankind, eat from
- whatever is on earth [that is] lawful
- and good and do not follow the
- footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to
- you a clear enemy. O mankind, eat what
- is on the earth that is lawful and good
- . So, Allah's command is not just
- lawful, but lawful and good. It is
- already lawful, the food is lawful, the
- way to obtain it is good, and spending
- it is also good; that is called "
- halalan thayyiban." What animal eats
- something good and produces something
- good? Bees, right? They visit flowers
- all day and produce honey. "Wala
- tattabiu." Do not follow the footsteps
- of Satan, the paths of Satan, or the
- deeds of Satan. So, why? Because the
- devil provides food that is not lawful,
- not wholesome. Why? Innahu lakum aduum
- mubin. Because the devil is your
- greatest, most manifest enemy. The most
- manifest enemy. So, Allah has
- guaranteed sustenance for all living
- things on earth, wherever they are.
- Those living in the soil, like worms,
- those in the air, on the ground, in the
- forests, in the oceans, on land,
- everywhere, all their sustenance is
- guaranteed by Allah. There has never
- been a bird found fallen because of
- hunger. Even if fruit trees have
- decreased, birds do not just wait in
- their nests for food to come. They fly
- to seek their sustenance. Many animals
- also seek sustenance for humans. Even
- swiftlets fly out early in the morning.
- Like here in West Java, Sukabumi, that
- bird, what is it called. Let's go,
- drink its water. Going to the southern
- sea over there. Drinking the sea water.
- Then it eats these insects. Insects. So
- , it makes a nest using its saliva to
- build a home for itself. Now, the
- saliva used for the nest before it
- hatches. It can be taken so it doesn't
- get dirty. That is expensive. If you
- wait until it hatches. The one that
- hatches will be mixed with the baby's
- feathers, it's a bit dirty, a bit
- cheaper. There are some in caves that
- have been used many times to breed and
- were never harvested until they were
- full of blackish hair. The price is
- lower still. There is a red one that is
- quite expensive in the cave. Well, that
- is sustenance for humans, who knows how
- many millions per kilo now. It used to
- be 12 to 15, it seeks its sustenance,
- leaving at dawn and returning in the
- afternoon. The ones who take that
- sustenance for humans get a high price.
- So there is a funny story, someone
- rented a house, the house had no
- swiftlets in Bangil, so he rented it.
- Not long after he moved in, the
- swiftlets came to nest there, and the
- results were plentiful. Once the
- contract finished, the landlord evicted
- him and wouldn't let him continue. In
- the end, what happened? That person
- left, and all the birds were gone. They
- all moved out to another place. It
- means that was the renter's sustenance.
- But because the landlord was perhaps
- greedy, he said, "Give it to me." That
- way it would be peaceful. That would be
- better. So, that means sustenance has
- been given by Allah, and he sought it,
- maintained the nesting place, cleaned
- it, and all that. My point in telling
- that is that sustenance is guaranteed
- by Allah. I also sometimes observe
- traders who, it doesn't make sense, but
- they still sell, like on one island,
- when I stopped there, I saw a person
- every day at the market selling bicycle
- valves. Those bicycle valves are long,
- so if you buy them, you can cut them
- into five pieces when you use them for
- the bike. So for years, you don't need
- to buy anymore because there are five
- of them. Just one valve, how long can
- that even last? And on that island,
- there were only a dozen or so bicycles,
- not many at all. But that person sold
- them every single day. Who was buying
- them? Why would people buy them? They
- certainly didn't need more bicycles.
- Once they bought those few, that should
- have been enough. So that is where he
- went to seek his sustenance. God
- provided that sustenance. There would
- always be someone buying on a whim,
- just seeing it, buying it, and leaving
- it somewhere in the house, forgetting
- about it. Because it was God who moved
- their hearts to buy, granting
- sustenance to this person because he
- had made the effort. It’s like that.
- So sometimes, the buyers aren't even
- human, sometimes they are supernatural
- beings. That is how God provides
- sustenance. The point is, whoever is
- diligent in going out, God willing,
- will receive sustenance. The most
- important thing is not to be lazy. Lazy
- people are those who procrastinate,
- saying "do it tomorrow" or "do it later
- ." That is a dangerous disease of the
- heart. Two weeks ago, or a week ago, we
- discussed that dangerous heart disease,
- it's important. Five diseases of the
- heart. Let me repeat them once more.
- Laziness, arrogance, selfishness, being
- easily annoyed, hating this and hating
- that. Holding grudges and envy. Ah, if
- you have any one of these diseases, a
- person cannot be happy even if they are
- rich, even if they live in a palace.
- Because the disease is in the heart.
- The place for happiness is in the heart
- , not in the physical. In the heart.
- The physical can feel comfort, it can
- eat and drink well, but that doesn't
- mean it's happy. Yes, a person might
- eat at an expensive restaurant, but if
- they are annoyed or upset, the food
- won't taste good. But when the heart is
- at peace, when there is no hate,
- laziness, arrogance, or selfishness,
- they find even simple food delicious.
- So, the key to everything is in the
- heart. Whether one is happy or not
- depends on whether the heart is clean.
- The enjoyment of food depends on
- whether the heart is calm. Therefore,
- if we want to be happy in this world
- and safe in the hereafter, we must
- cleanse that. Throw away that
- selfishness, throw away that arrogance,
- throw away that annoyance, that
- irritation, that envy, that grudge—
- throw it all away. How do we throw it
- away, Ustaz? It’s actually not
- difficult to get rid of them. The
- problem is, do you want to throw them
- away or keep nurturing them, holding
- grudges, hating, and unable to sleep?
- If you want to, it’s easy. Why? Just
- tell yourself. If my name is Zen, I
- tell Zen. Zen, let it go, don't hold
- grudges, don't be envious. We can't
- sleep, we're tired, our hearts are
- troubled. The person we hate is
- sleeping soundly. They are having a
- good time. Envy, hatred, and grudges
- are like burning embers. Burning embers
- consume wood; these consume our
- happiness, devoured by hatred, grudges,
- arrogance, selfishness, and so on. So
- it is very important to cleanse the
- heart; it is crucial in determining
- whether we can be happy or not. If that
- disease is present, one cannot be happy
- even if wealthy, even if holding a high
- position. But with a pure heart, God
- willing, even without much provision,
- life will be happy. Yes, true happiness
- is in the heart. Only a happy heart is
- a clean heart. We must discard all of
- that. The way to discard it is as I
- said earlier. If you want to discard it
- , then discard it. Ask yourself, do you
- want to suffer, be weary, tired, and
- troubled? That blocks happiness.
- Discard it. Yes, if you say yes, we
- discard it. Then just discard it. So,
- whether you can or not depends on our
- hearts. If our hearts truly want to
- discard it, everything will be cast
- away like water on a taro leaf, spilled
- completely, leaving nothing behind.
- Because it is our hearts that desire it
- . Next, the word of Allah Subhanahu wa
- ta'ala in Surah Hud verse 6. Allah says
- , "Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. Wama min
- dabbatin fil ardhi illa alallahi
- rizquha." Whatever crawls on this earth
- , whether humans or animals, everything
- is guaranteed its provision by Allah
- subhanahu wa ta'ala. Then, there is an
- ecosystem of provision here. The
- provision of something depends on
- something else; they are interconnected
- . That is an ecosystem of, for example,
- maintenance. That provision also
- includes being maintained. Our trees
- and plants are also forms of provision.
- Who is helping them? Our trees. Allah
- destined them to be helped by ants.
- Those small black ants. Now, the size
- of an ant walking in the yard or garden
- might seem like only a few hundred or
- tens of meters to us. But to them, that
- is exhausting and a long way. Because
- of the ant's size compared to the world
- . A drop of water from the roof, plop.
- That drop is like a bomb to an ant; to
- us it is small, but it is larger than
- the ant's body. Ant society, yes. So,
- how do they help humans? If not for
- those black ants, many of our trees or
- even the furniture in our houses would
- be eaten by termites. So if you see
- black ants, don't worry, just let them
- be; they don't disturb anything. They
- are helping. What is their help? They
- eat termites. So if there are black
- ants, there are no termites. That is
- how Allah created it. Everything
- depends on something else; this needs
- that, and that needs this. Let me give
- the clearest example regarding this
- provision. I have shared this many
- times, but it is okay to repeat it so
- it is better remembered. There is one,
- a small bird. Where do you think this
- small bird's provision is? Provision is
- supposed to be pursued, right? When
- provision is given to that small bird,
- its provision is in a crocodile's mouth
- . Go ahead and take it. If a human's
- provision were in a crocodile's mouth,
- that would be troublesome. But this
- bird is not troubled. Why? Because
- Allah guarantees its provision. Allah
- guarantees it will take it. So when
- that small bird arrives, the crocodile
- sees it and immediately opens its mouth
- . The bird goes inside, and the
- crocodile doesn't close its mouth. It
- knows that it needs this bird. The bird
- eats all the food stuck between its
- teeth until it's clean. The crocodile
- is happy. Why? It can't brush its teeth
- , and it eats carrion. If they weren't
- cleaned, its teeth would all fall out
- or ache. But you never see a toothless
- crocodile, do you? It doesn't have a
- clinic, and it doesn't have a dentist
- either. But why are its teeth all neat,
- clean, and white? Well, these are
- Allah's agents cleaning its teeth.
- Allah ordained it to only eat what is
- found on the crocodile's teeth. Then
- Allah says that humans consider that
- instinct. Oh Allah, who gave them that
- instinct? Allah is the one who gave the
- bird the instinct that its food is in
- the crocodile's mouth, ensured the
- crocodile wouldn't close its mouth, and
- moved the crocodile to open it. That is
- an ecosystem. So, people stop at just
- the ecosystem. Who created that system?
- Who gave the bird the instinct that its
- sustenance is there and must be sought
- there? Allah. So here we must be
- certain that sustenance comes from
- Allah, but it must be sought; there
- must be effort. That bird makes the
- effort to enter the crocodile's mouth.
- It isn't afraid of being bitten, right?
- Yes, that is how it was instilled by
- Allah. Now, there is something else,
- what kind of fish is that in the sea?
- Cleaner fish. Some also call them
- doctor fish. Even if a fish is in the
- sea, its body collects a lot of mucus
- and it feels uncomfortable. So it has
- to clean itself. But it doesn't have
- hands, so it can't clean itself. It
- goes to a certain area, a village of
- those doctor fish. Once there, it stays
- still, and many of those doctor fish
- come and eat everything off its body,
- you see. There is something even
- funnier. How about the gills? A fish's
- gills are inside and cannot be cleaned
- easily. There are other small fish or
- tiny shrimp. They come and the fish
- opens its gills. They go in, eat
- whatever is there, and clean it. That
- is mutual need, mutual benefit. Rhinos
- are the same; rhinos have many ticks.
- Now, there are birds that like to eat
- ticks on rhino skin, on buffalo skin.
- Rhinos and buffaloes are deaf. If
- there's a tiger, they don't know. The
- bird gives a signal, tap tap tap, it
- pecks at them. Then, they save
- themselves. The bird needs to be saved
- because its sustenance is there, right?
- That is what is called an ecosystem.
- Dependent on one another. So if the
- ecosystem is damaged, life is damaged.
- Nature is the same way. Trees on the
- mountain are being cut down. Many river
- stones on the mountain act as wedges to
- prevent landslides. If they are taken,
- of course it will slide. So, that is
- not a divine punishment, but human
- actions damaging the environment. There
- are many verses in the Quran about not
- damaging the environment. Protecting
- the environment means protecting the
- sustenance God has given. But people
- are often mistaken, taking stones and
- calling it sustenance while damaging
- the environment. It is the same when
- sand is taken. It can be managed so the
- environment isn't ruined while still
- taking the resources. So, in this verse
- , it is clear that God provides
- sustenance to humans everywhere. On the
- surface of the earth, and inside the
- earth. Inside the earth, there is gold,
- silver, tin, iron ore, coal, oil;
- it’s all in the ground. Take it. But
- take it using knowledge, yes. Learn,
- study, and you can take it all. God has
- already given it, so ask for that
- sustenance to be granted. When you pray
- to God, ask Him to show you where your
- sustenance is. Guide me to seek it,
- make it easy for me to take it; that is
- possible. That is indeed how sustenance
- from God works. But it has been given,
- we just need to grasp that guidance. "I
- haven't been nudged by an angel, I
- haven't received guidance so I can't
- pray yet." That is wrong. Guidance must
- also be sought. Go to religious
- gatherings at the mosque, listen to the
- radio, it's everywhere, and you will
- receive guidance. If you don't make an
- effort, if you don't seek it, how could
- you get guidance? Approach the teachers
- , ask the teachers questions. That is
- where God will grant you guidance. You
- cannot just wait around like that.
- Everything must be pursued. Those who
- want to embrace a religion, find a good
- religion, find the true religion, then
- discuss, search, read books, find out.
- Salman the Persian was looking for the
- true religion; he joined all sorts of
- religions and studied them all. He read
- that there would be a final prophet; he
- was from Iran, originally Persian,
- which is why he is called Salman the
- Persian. Salman from the Persian people
- . He traveled everywhere. Finally, he
- arrived in Mecca and looked for Prophet
- Muhammad. In his book, it said there
- was a seal of prophethood on the
- Prophet’s back. When he met him, the
- seal of prophethood was revealed. Then
- he recited the testimony of faith and
- became one of the best companions of
- the Prophet. A companion of the Prophet
- who was very loyal to the Prophet and
- his family. To the point that the
- Prophet said, "Salman is from our
- family." Salman minna ahlal bait.
- Salman is our family, the only one, and
- it is strange because the Prophet’s
- circle was Arab, but the one raised to
- be his family was an Asian person. Not
- an Arab; the hadith is clear: "Salman
- minna ahlil bait," Salman is from us,
- our family. Because he loved the
- Prophet and his family so much, his
- love was reciprocated by the Prophet.
- He was adopted as the Prophet's family.
- The family of the Prophet, the Ahl
- al-Bayt. When telling stories like this
- , I sometimes feel hesitant because
- many people don't like to hear things
- like this. But if I hide it, then I am
- sinning by concealing the truth. Yes,
- that’s it, the accusation is not like
- that.
- Yes. Don't be like that; we should be
- honest in practicing this religion.
- There must be honesty. Be honest. Just
- mention everyone. Why, for example,
- Caliph Abu Bakar, Caliph Umar, Caliph
- Uthman, Caliph Ali, they can all be
- mentioned. Don't cover things up, don't
- shun one and accuse those who mention
- them of being wrong.
- Astaghfirullahalazim. Why are we
- picking and choosing among the
- Prophet's companions? Well, you can
- choose. It's fine to favor one
- companion, but don't become hostile
- toward others. That's allowed. Feel
- free to love the companion on that side
- , and the one on this side, go ahead.
- They are all companions of the Prophet,
- aren't they? Sayyidina Ali was the
- Prophet's companion who was closest
- since childhood. He was the primary
- companion who slept, ate, and learned
- with the Prophet from a young age. Why
- aren't we allowed to praise him? We
- should praise him. "Ah, what school of
- thought are you?" Yes, like that. The
- strange thing is there. I don't belong
- to any specific school of thought. My
- school of thought is the Messenger of
- Allah. So what? If I don't have a
- school of thought, will I go to hell?
- Of course not. What do I follow? The
- Quran of Allah and the Sunnah of the
- Messenger. Moreover, regarding
- respecting scholars, I respect all
- scholars. Why not? What are their
- teachings? Well, I do pick and choose.
- It is allowed to pick and choose among
- scholars. But with Islam, you cannot
- pick and choose. Which one? We want to
- follow the Shafi'i school for ablution.
- In prayer, follow the Maliki school,
- fasting is fine, no problem. If you are
- Muslim in the morning and a different
- religion in the afternoon, well, that's
- not allowed. If you follow scholars,
- it's all fine. Why must it be picked
- and chosen? But if you want to follow
- the Shafi'i or Maliki school, go ahead,
- no problem. But don't abandon the Quran
- , don't abandon the Sunnah. That is the
- problem; sometimes, to be honest, we
- have actually almost abandoned the
- Quran. This community is no longer
- rational, no longer honest. Things that
- contradict the Quran are left alone.
- The Quran itself is no longer studied.
- It is only memorized, chanted, and sung
- . Understood. Sometimes a few continue
- to practice it. Now, this is the
- problem. There are many Quranic verses
- —if I were to collect them—that are
- currently being violated by Muslims
- today. I’ll give you one example.
- Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. Qurial Quran
- fastamiu lahu wansitu la'allakum
- turhamun. When the holy Quran is
- recited, sit quietly and listen. May
- you be blessed by Allah. Now, there is
- no blessing. Why? The Quran is being
- recited, but people keep chatting and
- smoking. Even worse, in the mosque,
- when the Quran is being read, it's not
- actually the holy verses being read.
- Then someone deemed honorable arrives,
- a high official or a scholar, everyone
- stands up to greet them, using the
- excuse of welcoming the scholar. But
- why violate the word of Allah? If the
- Quran is read, be quiet and listen, but
- this...everyone stands up. What is that
- ? Isn't that violating the Quran? That
- is just one example. There is no way
- for the Muslim community to be good and
- righteous other than returning to the
- Quran. Returning to the Quran—it can
- be memorized, it can be chanted, but it
- must be understood and practiced. The
- Quran must be brought to life. So, if
- there is a Maulid, Rajaban, or
- something in a mosque, and a reciter is
- reading the Quran, if the president
- arrives, do not stand up. But if you
- already know, usually if the president
- is coming, you are informed beforehand
- what time they will arrive. Well, read
- the Quran beforehand, or read it after
- the president has arrived. So don't
- stop reading the Quran when he arrives
- just so everyone stands up; that means
- you are not magnifying Allah. That is
- the Word of Allah, and you are
- magnifying a human being. Well, that is
- an example. Sometimes I feel reluctant
- to say this, but if I don't, it is a
- sin on my part. Let's continue with the
- issue of sustenance earlier. So, this
- sustenance must be dug up; there is
- still so much on our earth that has not
- yet been excavated. There is still so
- much that hasn't been utilized. So very
- much. But I wonder, why are there
- people who don't have work, to the
- point of being unemployed? Well, that
- is because they do not want to go and
- fetch their sustenance. Fetch what? How
- do you fetch sustenance? By providing a
- service. By providing a service.
- Whatever people need, provide it;
- sustenance is there in whatever it is.
- Like yesterday, I gave the example of
- pineapples last week; people find
- pineapples troublesome because peeling
- them is difficult. Well, I see many
- people already selling pineapples that
- are peeled; it sells fast and runs out
- quickly. Yes, that is also good; it is
- medicine for the prostate, medicine for
- all sorts of things. Many people can't
- stand those black spots, they are itchy
- , right? But many people cannot peel
- them. So if someone has a sharp knife
- and cuts those holes out, it will sell.
- There is so much that can be done. Take
- fruits from the main market. Make juice
- , buy a juicer; there are some very
- good ones. A new juicer is, what, a
- million something? Put a table there.
- Juice it in front of people, it's
- authentic. There are no other mixtures.
- People will queue up to buy. Fruits
- that have been sitting for 2 or 3 days
- and look like they are starting to wilt
- , you can buy them cheap, at half price
- from fruit vendors or fruit shops. Well
- , that makes for very good juice. So
- there is a lot of work there. On the
- side of the road, or in shops, or
- anywhere, juice will sell. People
- become healthy too. That is the
- sustenance of*khairur raziqin*, good
- sustenance from the Lord who is the
- best of providers. So it means humans
- are obligated to fetch their sustenance
- , by providing any service; any service
- will surely surely, God willing,
- receive a reward from others. As long
- as you sell something good and are
- honest, God willing, you will get it.
- Be honest, and eventually, your name
- will be well-known; moreover, food
- sells the best right now, food. So
- there shouldn't, there shouldn't be
- anyone unemployed. God willing. The
- next verse is Surah Al-Maidah verse 114
- . Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. Qala Isa
- ibnu Maryam. Allahumma rabbana anzil
- alaina maidatan minasama takunu
- lanaidan liawalina wa akhirina wa ayah
- mink warzuqna wa anta khairur roziqin.
- Son of Maryam, O Allah, our Lord, send
- down to us a table spread from heaven
- so that it may become for us a festival
- , for the first and the last of us. And
- this is a sign from You, a proof of
- Your goodness. And provide for us, for
- You are the best of providers. Good
- sustenance comes from Allah. The Best
- of Providers. The Giver of good and
- limitless sustenance. But it must be
- good. Now, if we snatch instead of
- taking from Allah, taking others '
- sustenance, taking what is their right.
- That is what is forbidden. That is not
- good sustenance. That is what ruins our
- lives. Feeding our families, our
- children, that is bad food because it
- is forbidden. Moreover, if someone
- steals an individual's right, that is
- called being a thief. They steal, but
- it is an individual's right. One in a
- house, so where is the person's right
- taken. One person owns it, two people
- own it. But corruption is taking the
- rights of society, the rights of the
- many. One must apologize to the many,
- and the sin is greater. That Because so
- much state money is corrupted, the
- state is unable to build some things,
- yes, in the villages there are many
- elementary schools that are in disarray
- , many are still unfit. Now, I will
- give an example, how many railway
- crossings in the outskirts of villages
- still have no one guarding them. Even
- though the salary for one person, two
- people, three people, to cover three
- shifts, right? It wouldn't be much for
- three railway guards. But why are there
- still so many, not a few, but many.
- Later we hear of cars hit by trains,
- dragged by trains, no gate, no guard,
- they are unable to provide that. There
- is still much more that they are unable
- to do. So, corruption ruins everything.
- But it never ends when I hear it on TV.
- Yes, maybe if every day, every week,
- many corruptors are arrested. Hopefully
- , it will eventually run out. But sorry
- if
- it continues
- It continues strangely, so perhaps it
- is everywhere in the world, in all
- countries it already exists. But I
- apologize again, why is it that in
- religious countries, corruption is
- higher, and the prisons are fuller? Hah
- , why is this? This is also a heavy
- topic to talk about, heavy indeed. But
- what can we do, we must be reminded not
- to be like that. We should be reminded
- that religious populations should be
- cleaner, the prisons should be somewhat
- empty because the people are faithful,
- the people are pious, the people are
- righteous. But if the prisons are full
- and corruption is rampant, it means our
- preaching has not been successful. What
- do you think? Do these preachers need
- to go preach in offices? Some are
- already in offices, but I cannot go to
- offices. Why? Well, many block me when
- I lecture in offices, calling me an
- infidel preacher, and blocking
- preaching is a great sin. Yes, the sin
- is great. I just want to remind you, if
- I’m dishonest or if my preaching is
- just to make money, then you are free
- to stop me. But for 30 years, my
- preaching has been for Allah, solely
- inviting people to Allah, never to a
- specific school of thought. In one
- place where I lectured, someone would
- always come afterward. "Oh, that’s an
- infidel Ustaz." There’s always
- someone coming from a certain group.
- But we don't need to name them. It’s
- a pity, one of the followers of some
- ideology. Hopefully, now they will stop
- and realize. Prevent others from doing
- evil deeds. Then, let us look at the
- next verse. This is all about
- sustenance from Quranic verses, yes,
- based on Quranic verses. Surah
- Al-Mu'minun, verse 72. In the name of
- Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most
- Merciful. "Am tas'aluhum kharjan
- fa-kharaju rabbika khair." Same as the
- one before, "khair." So, if you ask
- what is better, receiving or giving,
- then the provision from your Lord, the
- giving from your Lord, that is the best
- . Because He is the best of providers.
- Now, this is hard to understand, but it
- can be understood if we find another
- verse. That other verse is, in the name
- of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most
- Merciful. "Fabtaghu' indallahi-rrizq."
- Now, this is the most important part.
- Very brief. "Fabtaghu 'indallahi-rrizq.
- " Al-' Ankabut, verse 17. This is the
- most important. Very important indeed.
- Please, if you want to take notes,
- write down the verse. Al- 'Ankabut,
- verse 17. "Fabtaghu' indallahi-rrizq."
- Subhanallah. Allah is offering here.
- Offering what? Ask for it. Desire the
- sustenance that comes from Allah. Is
- there really sustenance that doesn't
- come from Allah? Yes. That is
- sustenance that is not good. Desire the
- sustenance that comes from Allah. So
- even if you are already rich, have a
- business, have a job, have anything,
- still hope for sustenance from Allah.
- You must. Otherwise, you are arrogant,
- you think this result is my own
- achievement. "I am diligent, I went to
- college, I did this, I did that.""This
- is all the result of my sweat."
- Astaghfirullahalazim. You must hope for
- sustenance from Allah so it becomes a
- blessing. Want to trade, want to do
- anything, ask Allah every day. Now,
- that sustenance becomes a blessing, it
- becomes good. If you rely on yourself,
- well, that is not from Allah. It is not
- good, it is not blessed. Here, "wabahu"
- Yes. Desire, desire the sustenance from
- Allah. Indeed all sustenance is from
- Allah, but you must seek it from Allah.
- How does this work? This is faith in
- the heart, there is a feeling that this
- is sustenance from Allah. Always talk
- to Allah. Sometimes food is in front of
- you, "O Allah, this fish, You are the
- one who created it." How many trillions
- of fish in the sea? No one feeds them.
- Even the Minister of Fisheries doesn't
- feed the fish in the sea. Doesn't take
- care of the fish in the sea. You are
- the one who guards the sea, the
- cleanliness of the sea. You sprinkle
- salt in the salty sea so the salt
- doesn't sink to the bottom of the sea.
- You send the wind, the sea is stirred
- up, so it stays clean forever. Even
- though all the flow from every river in
- the world goes into the sea, the sea
- does not overflow. It remains clean,
- fish keep living, and fish keep
- reproducing. Their food all comes from
- Him. So, it appears there are gardens
- on land, on the surface of the earth.
- There are also gardens under the sea.
- Those fish food gardens have many
- leaves, so much moss, all provided by
- Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, guaranteed
- that Allah created them for humans. Now
- , we humans eat that fish after it is
- processed, added with spices, made into
- pesmol, or whatever, we just enjoy it.
- People forget that it was Allah who
- created the fish, Allah who tends to
- the fish, Allah who feeds the fish, and
- Allah who maintains the fish's health.
- All those fish are served for us. So,
- what is the proof? The proof is that
- the fish we eat are near the surface of
- the water. They aren't deep, you see.
- Just a meter or a few meters down. But
- ornamental fish that are rarely eaten,
- just for decoration, are not staples
- for humans. They are deep down in the
- sea. It's rather difficult to catch
- them. But these fish are quite easy to
- catch. It is done intentionally. God
- also regulates the wind. When fishermen
- want to go out to sea, the wind blows
- toward the sea. When they want to
- return, the wind blows toward the land.
- Allah arranges all of that. The
- specific gravity of the boats, the
- sails, Allah arranges it all.
- Subhanallah, that is the power of Allah
- . So, sustenance is guaranteed by Allah
- , starting from fish to chickens;
- chickens keep reproducing even though
- they are slaughtered and eaten every
- day, their eggs never run out and keep
- increasing. That is why chicken and
- fish meat are cheaper. Because
- subhanallah, that is the power of Allah
- . Can you imagine how many trillions of
- fish and millions of chickens are
- slaughtered every day worldwide? How
- many of their eggs are cracked? So many
- . And so on. It is the power of Allah
- Subhanahu wa ta'ala. Humans do not
- realize, can humans create fish? No.
- Create chickens? Cannot. We can farm
- them. Raise chickens, feed them, and
- the chickens multiply. Cloning also
- exists, that is possible, it is fine.
- That all comes from Allah. Allah
- intentionally gave the knowledge to
- breed those food animals through a sort
- of evolution. Why? Because when the
- world's population was still small,
- there were few chickens, few goats, few
- cows. The population grew, how many
- billions now? 6.5 billion people on
- earth. Chickens multiply quickly, there
- are so many. Goats can be cloned, later
- as the population increases, as more
- humans arrive, they become even more
- abundant. No need to worry; before,
- when there were few humans, we
- harvested once a year, with more humans
- twice, and as more people grow, three
- times. Now it is three times, isn't it?
- Well, that is what is meant by
- sustenance being guaranteed by Allah.
- So it does not mean it is guaranteed by
- being hand-fed while still small. Yes.
- Like being fed in a mother's womb. Fed
- in a mother's womb, fed through an
- umbilical cord. When born, milk is
- already in the mother's chest; before
- we can seek sustenance, it is delivered
- right to us; that is guaranteed there.
- But once we are grown, we must go get
- it, now that we have the strength, that
- sustenance must be pursued. So if we
- want to take, want to take fish, just
- take them from the sea for free. Want
- rice? Just plant rice for free. Oh,
- sometimes there is a cost, what is it,
- fertilizer? That’s only now, the
- fertilizer. In the old days, without
- fertilizer, the rice still grew. That
- was all free from Allah. If you want to
- get it at the market or supermarket,
- you pay for the service. We take the
- rice by paying for the farmer's service
- , and the trader who moved the rice
- there. The rice itself is free from
- Allah. For fish, you pay the service of
- the fisherman and the trader. The fish
- itself is free from Allah. We must be
- convinced of that. Look at the clothes
- we wear, we all wear clothes, what is
- this we are wearing, the clothes, what
- is this cotton, where does this cotton
- come from?
- From Allah.
- From Allah, grown in the ground; the
- ground is brown or black, but the
- cotton is white, so how is that? If it
- were just earth, it couldn't be like
- that; that is Allah's creation, Allah's
- power, cotton grows, lots of cotton,
- turned into thread, thread woven into
- fabric. The fabric is cut, snipped,
- shaped into clothes, and all sorts of
- things. Can those who wear the clothes
- think like that? That is what is called
- contemplation (tafakur). Strengthening
- faith. Faith can be strong if one
- contemplates a lot. This shirt, look at
- our own shirt. From cotton, this cotton
- Allah grew. So these clothes are from
- Allah, right? We buy them, right? We
- buy, we pay for the labor of the person
- who planted the cotton, who turned the
- cotton into thread, who wove the thread
- into fabric, who dyed the fabric, who
- colored the fabric. Now it's not dyed.
- What is it that cuts it? The pattern.
- Making the pattern, then sewing it,
- then the merchant again. All the money
- is divided up. Ah. But all of this,
- humans only shape, process, weave, spin
- , but all of this is from Allah. And
- then humans sew, cut, using what? Using
- hands, using brains, using eyes. Those
- eyes, those hands, Allah made them all.
- Meaning all of this is from Allah. Do
- we want to be grateful? Do you want to
- have faith without contemplation? It
- won't work, it'll just float. Faith is
- not just on the tongue. Faith is in the
- head, in the mind. Dhikr is thinking.
- Thinking, yes, the mind performs dhikr.
- Now, that is the mind performing dhikr;
- just by looking at a shirt, one
- contemplates until one remembers the
- cotton. The cotton grew. Say
- subhanallah. Thank you, O Allah. Like
- that. Contemplate, look at a fish,
- contemplate. It is given bones so its
- flesh doesn't fall off. If there were
- no bones, how could it swim? Everything
- has been arranged by Allah. So
- remembering Allah everywhere, whatever
- we see, we remember Allah, right? The
- Creator is like that. Coffee, coffee
- beans. What is done to those coffee
- beans? So coffee becomes delicious when
- turned into charcoal. Charcoal from
- roasting.
- Yes. Until it's black. So it becomes
- charcoal.
- Until it's scorched.
- Scorched. Well, that's the charcoal
- coffee that people drink. So if you
- want real coffee, don't turn it into
- charcoal, roast it halfway. Just
- halfway, I drink it halfway while it's
- still greenish-yellow. Just a little
- yellow and it's done.
- Is the coffee good? With sugar, it's
- already good for me. If it's black
- coffee that's scorched or charcoal,
- that won't do.
- It doesn't get processed well.
- Yes. My stomach can't handle it. And
- it's hard to sleep.
- You can't sleep. But if you drink this
- green one that's still yellow, it's
- good, no problem. It tastes good even
- without sugar. Well, that's how it is.
- That's all God's creation, even when
- burned to charcoal, it's still good to
- drink and fragrant.
- It smells nice, how can seeds be like
- that? Everything God created has a
- benefit, nothing is useless. For
- example, ants. Ants can eat termites.
- Since there are no ants at home now.
- Many places there are hit by termites.
- Birds, what are those birds? Owls,
- people call them that. What is the name
- of that bird? A scops owl, right?
- Scops owl.
- Yeah.
- Owl.
- Owls.
- They chase away rats. Now there are no
- owls, and there are many rats. That is
- also an ecosystem. So this eats that,
- and this cleans that, everything is
- like that. Subhanallah. Even mosquitoes
- have a use. Maybe we just don't know it
- yet. If not, God wouldn't have created
- them. But at least in the past, when
- there were no alarms, what would wake
- you up to pray at night? The mosquitoes
- would bite you, and you'd wake up.
- That's good too. So here is a little
- bit: praying and asking for sustenance
- is mandatory, and ask for sustenance
- from God because God is the one who
- gives good sustenance. Even if we are
- already rich, we must still ask God,
- whether in trade or any endeavor, we
- must keep asking God. If not, it means
- we are arrogant. Feeling like we are
- the ones who create it ourselves. No.
- We don't create sustenance. Still, ask
- God. That is called having faith,
- making God the Lord. Everything to God,
- everything to God. That's how it is. So
- how do you say it? If you want to pray
- to God, you must always start with His
- Beautiful Names (Asmaul Husna). Yes. Ya
- Raziq, ya Allah, ya Razzaq, ya Raziq,
- ya Raziq, ya Allah. In Indonesian it's
- okay, but ya Razzaq. O God, the Giver
- of sustenance, give me halal and good
- sustenance. Ya Allah, ya Wahhab, O
- Great Giver, grant me knowledge, grant
- me peace of heart. Ya Basit, ya Basit,
- O God, bestow your sustenance upon me.
- That is ya Khairur Raziqin. Earlier
- there were two verses, ya Khairur
- Raziqin. Ya Khairur Raziqin. O Best of
- Givers, grant us sustenance, O God. Ya
- Khairur Roziqin, Ya Razzaq, Ya Razzaq,
- Ya Fattah is also fine. Ya Wahab, Ya
- Wahab, Ya Basit, Ya Basit. Let us
- recite the names of Allah regarding
- sustenance, the attributes of Allah.
- Then seek good sustenance, not that
- which is not good. And also, do not
- sell religion to obtain wealth; ask of
- Allah. Ask from Allah while actively
- pursuing it; that is possible. So, do
- not sell your preaching for wealth
- either. Do not sell your self-respect
- for wealth. Our self-respect is more
- valuable than all the wealth in the
- world. One human being is more valuable
- than the wealth of the whole world. A
- Muslim is more valuable than the wealth
- of the whole world. If a Muslim is
- killed, one person, one Muslim is
- killed, the Arsh (Throne) shakes. Do
- not play around with this. If a person
- worships Allah, bows down to Allah,
- they are deeply loved by Him. Let us
- not disturb them, let us not hurt their
- hearts. Hopefully, this is beneficial.
- So, in all things, we must focus on
- Allah. Allahus-Samad. Depend on Allah.
- So, hold on to two things. Ustadz often
- mention it, and it is indeed excellent.
- Raja and Khauf. Raja means to hope.
- Khauf means to fear. Both of those must
- be focused on Allah. Raja is to hope.
- Our greatest hope is in Allah; our hope
- in humans is small. We go to a doctor
- hoping for recovery from Allah through
- the doctor's hands. We get our
- sustenance from Allah through trade,
- through work, through services. But
- everything is focused on Allah. Raja,
- hope is directed only to Allah. Focus
- on Allah. Allah is the foundation of
- hope. The foundation of hope. Khauf,
- fearing that Allah may not love us,
- fearing that Allah may be angry. Now,
- those two we must hold on to. Keep them
- always balanced between Raja and Khauf.
- If we have too much Raja, thinking
- Allah is Most Merciful and Most
- Forgiving, we might become spoiled and
- reckless, eventually becoming
- disobedient. But if it is only Khauf,
- it leads to despair. So, between Khauf
- and Raja, between hope and fear, let
- there be balance in our hearts. We love
- Allah, we know Allah is Most
- Compassionate and Merciful, but He is
- also just, and He is firm in upholding
- the law. He is indeed merciful. But He
- upholds His laws, right? So, there is a
- balance in all of that, between hope
- and fear. Indeed, Allah is merciful and
- accepts repentance, but He is
- disciplined and the law is enforced. It
- is frightening, especially as we
- discussed two weeks ago. The torment in
- the hereafter is an internal torment.
- Uhuh. Oh, what kind of pain could that
- be? It is unbearable, so it is better
- that we just surrender to Allah, learn
- to know Allah, and learn to love Allah
- Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. Yes, we previously
- discussed the cotton, that is also
- knowledge to learn to know Allah. May
- Allah grant guidance to us all. Amin Ya
- Rabbal Alamin.
- Amin Ya Rabbal Alamin.
- Alright, that was the afternoon lecture
- regarding good sustenance, right, Ustaz
- ? Yes.
- So what is interesting is wabatil ardhi
- .
- This is about faith, right, Ustaz?
- Huh?
- This is about faith, right.
- Faith
- in all of Allah's creations.
- All
- not just humans, right, Sir.
- All of Allah's creations.
- No birds fall down from hunger. Even
- though fruit trees are now rare.
- Including the microorganisms that are
- actually inside our bodies too.
- Yes. Correct.
- Like germs. Yes.
- Actually, some of them are also
- beneficial, don't be deceived.
- Correct.
- Viruses and everything.
- In the soil, people used to get their
- water from wells.
- Yes.
- It is sterile inside the soil, it's in
- the ground, right.
- Yeah.
- There are creatures, I don't know what
- they are, that can
- can kill other germs.
- Those bacteria.
- Yes. That is why if you touch a dog,
- you are told to use soil, right. Well,
- that kills bacteria. Correct.
- Yes, Brothers and Sisters. We invite
- you to join our program. Please share
- your questions or comments regarding
- what was discussed earlier by Ustaz
- Zain Alhadi. Send your questions via
- the Rasil WhatsApp number at 0811999720
- . You can also use this number to send
- short messages or SMS. To speak
- directly with Ustaz Zain Alhadi, please
- call us at 0218451512. Stay with us.
- Yeah. H Rasil, connecting and visual
- results for a united Islam. Brothers
- and sisters blessed by Allah Subhanahu
- wa Ta'ala. Thank you for still being
- with us for our afternoon lecture. In
- the first session, we listened to the
- lecture and advice given by Ustaz Zain
- Alhadi regarding good sustenance,
- rizkon thayiban, right, Ustaz. Yes.
- There are already several SMS messages
- that have come in. However, before I go
- to the listeners 'questions, I would
- like to remind you that there is a
- verse where Allah has opened the door
- very wide
- for humans to ask, that is the meaning.
- Yes.
- To ask. Earlier there was an example of
- a prayer request from Ustaz Zain,
- always mention
- the attributes
- or the names of Allah.
- Yes.
- Yes. Ar-Razzaq, right. The All-Provider
- of sustenance.
- Then what else, Ustaz? When we ask for
- sustenance from Allah, besides
- mentioning His names,
- yes.
- Then what should be remembered, Ustaz?
- Because usually, humans ask just for
- the sake of their own pleasure, right.
- They think, "Ah, I want a lot of
- sustenance, I'll ask." But the goal is
- just to be happy.
- Now, what must be realized, Ustaz? So
- that "rabbana atina fid-dunya hasanah
- wa fil-akhirati hasanah" has a truly
- beautiful meaning in this world and the
- hereafter.
- Correct.
- Yes, that hasanah, the sustenance is
- also a hasanah sustenance.
- Yeah.
- A beautiful and pure sustenance. Yes,
- that's right, that rabbana atina
- fid-dunya hasanah. O Allah, grant us a
- life that is clean and beautiful in
- this world, and in the hereafter as
- well, for it to be clean and beautiful
- there too. So, it doesn't mean
- happiness; that is not the meaning of
- hasanah. Hm.
- So hasanah means beautiful and clean.
- Let us live a clean life. Clean food,
- clean clothing, a clean heart, dressing
- cleanly, eating cleanly. That is the
- meaning of hasanah.
- So the provision being requested is not
- for pleasure.
- Yes. No. Pleasure comes on its own.
- It comes on its own.
- If it is already clean, one will surely
- be happy. Even if the provision is
- abundant. If the heart is not clean,
- one will not be happy.
- Hm.
- Yes. Humans often suffer internally
- because they create it themselves. Here
- , there is an animal cage, there are
- all sorts of cages. Look at the heart.
- Yes, life is difficult. All animal
- traits are here. Greedy, vengeful,
- hateful, it is tiring. But a clean
- person who doesn't have such things,
- they are just happy. Whatever the
- provision is, they are happy. And any
- food becomes delicious when the heart
- is clean. So even if it is expensive
- food at a luxury hotel, when the heart
- is not right, it doesn't taste good
- because the heart is full of vengeance.
- There is hatred, it makes one dizzy.
- Eating is unpleasant, sleeping is not
- sound. So what makes humans happy is a
- clean heart. Those five things from
- yesterday, those traits should be cast
- away. Direct your thoughts and feelings
- toward Allah to receive provision.
- Even if you are already rich or a
- merchant, direct it to Allah. That will
- make the provision good, truly good.
- Because indeed, the provider of
- provision is Allah, the Best of
- Providers. The best of all providers.
- Yes, perhaps humans can also provide,
- but the money might be from forbidden
- sources. That is not the Best of
- Providers. So even if you are already
- rich, keep asking that your provision
- be lawful. Ask it from Allah; from
- Allah, it is lawful and clean. Ustaz, I
- will move on to several questions that
- have come in. This one is from Ibu
- Albar in Cikarang. Peace be upon you,
- and Allah's mercy and blessings.
- And peace be upon you, and Allah's
- mercy and blessings. Ustaz, what is
- your opinion if we pray? The content of
- our prayers mostly asks for worldly
- goodness, while asking for goodness in
- the hereafter is only done at the end.
- So throughout the prayer, from the
- beginning until almost the end, it is
- worldly goodness; the end is only for
- the hereafter. So it is not balanced.
- What is your opinion, Ustaz?
- In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious
- , the Most Merciful. There is another
- verse in the Quran, "Whoever asks for
- worldly things, Allah will give;
- whoever asks for the hereafter, Allah
- will give." Ask for the world and the
- hereafter, and Allah will give. If they
- only ask for the world, Allah gives the
- world. But in the hereafter, they get
- nothing. So it is permissible, but in
- the hereafter, they get.
- Nothing. So ask for both the world and
- the hereafter. Oh, regarding the
- imbalance mentioned earlier. If you
- still ask for the hereafter, it is
- still better, still good. Still good.
- It's just that the request might have a
- higher percentage for the world and
- less for the hereafter.
- Oh God, follow according to His will.
- Oh.
- Right, yes like prayer, there is no
- prayer that is rejected, God willing
- all are accepted unless it's not done
- correctly.
- Well, but the problem is what
- percentage is accepted.
- Yeah.
- What percentage is the value, the
- quality? H
- ah, so if for instance in the Quran it
- is said that prayer prevents evil and
- wrongdoing but there are people who
- still do wrongdoing and evil and so on.
- Why, what is the percentage of their
- prayer? If the prayer is already a high
- percentage, they will be prevented.
- He.
- Now that is prayer. So the key to
- everything is in prayer, the hardest
- thing in prayer is to be devoted.
- Devotion in prayer. Learning to pray,
- everyone is already clever at it, some
- even rush it. But the problem is how to
- have a devoted prayer, that focuses the
- mind on Allah. So when they pray, their
- mind is praying, their feelings also
- follow in prayer. Their mind
- contemplates the greatness of Allah,
- alhamdulillahi rabbil alamin. They feel
- they are saying that, saying it to
- Allah. He
- yes. Al-Fatihah is extraordinary, its
- verses in the beginning praise Allah.
- In the middle, it promises to Allah. At
- the end, it is a prayer asking for
- guidance, asking to be led. We are at
- this three-way junction. Straight ahead
- is the straight path, to the right is
- the path of those who earned wrath. On
- the left is the path of those who went
- astray. Oh, from the middle, we are at
- this roundabout looking at the straight
- path and it looks like it has many
- thorns. Looking at the path of those
- who went astray, it looks like there is
- a lot there. There are bottles, there
- are flashing lights there. The path of
- those who earned wrath is like that.
- This straight path looks scary. There
- are thorns. Just enter and step on it,
- it turns out they are plastic thorns.
- So it's only a test, it looks scary but
- it's actually beautiful. It looks
- beautiful if you enter, but it's hard
- to get back out. Try going out at dawn,
- early in the morning after exercising,
- see many people coming home who are
- wasted, who are
- exhausted
- exhausted, dizzy, all with sour faces.
- Now that is, even though they said they
- were looking for entertainment, their
- faces just became more troubled.
- Entertainment isn't there.
- Entertainment isn't in objects or
- material things, that's just a
- temporary forgetting of consciousness.
- He.
- Where is entertainment found? In the
- heart. The heart is entertained. That's
- not a matter of the heart. Temporarily
- forgetting with music, parties, you
- forget. When you forget, you forget
- about suffering. Once you are done with
- that, the suffering comes back again.
- Now, when people are close to Allah,
- their hearts are calm, it's here.
- Happiness is in the heart. The heart
- that is close to Allah is the happy one
- . Little children, when are they happy?
- When they are in their mother's lap. In
- their mother's lap, they are happy
- there. And the bond of mother and child
- is only a biological bond. With Allah,
- we have a bond as creator.
- H
- and the created, a close bond.
- Yes.
- And when close to Allah, the happiness
- is higher than the happiness of a baby
- when caressed by its mother in her lap.
- Yes. That is, "verily, in the
- remembrance of Allah do hearts find
- rest," remembering Allah and being
- close to Allah will soothe the heart, a
- calm heart is what happiness is. God
- willing.
- Okay, next we go to a servant of God in
- Jakarta at 08778961 and so on, peace be
- upon you, and God's mercy and blessings
- , to Zain, may God have mercy on you.
- Wealth is synonymous with abundance,
- while in the Quranic verse it was
- explained as rizqon halalan thayyiban,
- sustenance that is lawful and good.
- What do you think, Ustaz, if the
- sustenance is lawful, good, and
- abundant? What is your opinion, Ustaz?
- In the name of God, the Most Gracious,
- the Most Merciful.
- Lawful, good, and abundant sustenance.
- It's allowed. It's allowed. Good and
- abundant is allowed. Asking God for
- anything good is not a problem. Asking
- for a lot is also allowed.
- It's not a problem. The meaning of
- zuhud (asceticism) is that a person
- does not love the world, you see. But
- that doesn't mean they don't possess
- the world. Someone can be rich with
- lots of money but still be ascetic.
- What is the meaning of asceticism? Not
- loving it.
- But you are allowed to enjoy it.
- You are allowed to wear nice clothes.
- Asceticism allows you to love things,
- but not in excess.
- Uh, you are allowed to love things.
- You are allowed to enjoy things.
- You are allowed to enjoy and love them,
- but not be attached to them.
- Eating fried cassava is delicious,
- isn't it?
- Enjoy it.
- That too. But the dangerous thing is
- loving the world too much. Because
- people who love the world can become
- corrupt, everything can become ruined.
- Afraid of dying, not wanting to die,
- wanting to stay in the world for a long
- time. Even though if given a long life,
- they would just be tormented. Wanting
- to reach 100, 110, 120, tired of
- carrying the body, tired. Where you
- sleep, where you eat, where you go to
- the bathroom, all in one place. Being
- carried here and there, it’s tiring.
- So God causes us to pass away because
- He loves us too. Indeed, this world is
- a place of suffering. A place of war, a
- place of fighting, a place of noise,
- floods, earthquakes, every disease is
- here. A place of illness and war. War
- is everywhere. War here, in one place,
- war there. Later here, everywhere, we
- can't avoid it. Sometimes, there are
- disasters. Well, it's not heaven, but
- it's not hell either. It's difficult,
- not between the two. Now, here we
- realize that we are only taking a test.
- This world is a school, a place to
- learn. Learning to know God, learning
- to understand life. What is the meaning
- of life? Life is a test. Well, if
- someone learns, there must be a test.
- If there's a test, there's a diploma,
- there's a prize. After finishing the
- test here, what is the diploma? Getting
- into heaven. Just like that. So if
- there is a heavy test, be patient,
- there's no other way. If you don't want
- to be patient, what do you want? Sick
- and don't want to be patient, don't
- want to accept it. What do you want?
- Wanting to jump around is impossible.
- So what now? Accept that this life is a
- test. It's just for a while, there’s
- no test that lasts forever. But once
- you pass, you'll be happy, right? So
- don't love the world. The world is like
- this, why would you want to love it?
- Loving life, loving the world, what do
- you want to find here? Everything is
- fleeting, there's no true pleasure. You
- may enjoy it. But what is mentioned in
- the Quran is that this world is just a
- temporary pleasure, not true bliss.
- Mata'ul ghurur.
- Ad-dunya mata'ul.
- Mata'ul ghurur. Like a mirage. It looks
- beautiful, it looks like it can satisfy
- , like it can quench your thirst. "
- Water is there, it can quench thirst,"
- but when you get there, it’s not
- there. You go looking for entertainment
- . You spend your time there until
- morning, but there’s nothing. When
- morning comes, what did you get? You
- got nothing. Tired, weary, struggling.
- Now, that’s life, life is just like
- that. The world is a deceiver like that
- . You think it’s enjoyable, but
- it’s not at all. Sitting at home,
- remembering Allah, drinking tea with
- fried peanuts—that is already
- delightful.
- Alright,
- insha'Allah. Next, we move to a
- question from Mr. Did in Depok.
- Assalamu'alaikum warahmatullahi
- wabarakatuh. Wa'alaikumussalam.
- Ustadz. How
- if we ask for repayment of a debt from
- an old friend who has borrowed money,
- is that still considered good provision
- or not, Ustadz? Is this about sincerity
- , or should we just let it go? Please
- provide some enlightenment, Ustadz.
- Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. We have the
- right to collect our debt.
- It is good, not bad, because it is our
- right.
- Yes.
- You may collect it while observing if
- the person is capable or if there is a
- possibility they are not. We can tell
- whether they are lying or not. If we
- see they are truly unable to pay, then
- just intend it as charity for them.
- H
- Some might say if you intend it as
- charity, you weren't sincere initially.
- It is sincere. You have already
- intended it that way, right?
- Yes.
- So, that's it. But whether Allah
- accepts it or not, that is Allah’s
- business. No human knows. But Allah is
- very wise. Insha'Allah, it will be
- accepted. The value is up to Him, you
- see.
- So, never ever say it won't be accepted
- by Allah. Why are you preempting Allah?
- Are you God's representative or what?
- We shouldn't have an attitude like that
- . Preempting Allah is His affair. We
- can only answer "insha'Allah." Accepted
- , insha'Allah. Like that. The scholars
- of the past were truly honest. For
- instance, if there is something not
- explicitly mentioned as haram in the
- Quran, they wouldn't immediately call
- it haram. They would say it is not good
- . They wouldn't dare call it haram. If
- Allah or the Prophet mentions it as
- haram, only then would they say, "Ah,
- that is not good, it is better to leave
- it." They never immediately labeled
- things as halal or haram. A true
- scholar would not do that.
- Especially saying someone will go to
- hell.
- Ah, there’s no such thing; how would
- you know they are going to hell?
- That’s easy for you to say.
- We don't know if this person is loved
- by Allah or not. We don't know; if
- Allah loves His servant, He loves them.
- They are given guidance, guided. Don't
- feel like you know everything. That's
- scary, saying people are going to hell.
- Don't. Unless it is from the Quran. But
- it doesn't mention a specific person.
- The Quran only mentions one person
- specifically, Abu Lahab. How many
- people are mentioned individually as
- entering heaven? So, what was the
- question earlier? So collecting debt.
- Oh yes, you are allowed to collect
- debts, even from an old friend.
- So it remains a legitimate source of
- income, Ustaz, because it is our right,
- right?
- Yes, our right. But if we see that they
- are truly unable to pay, have many
- other debts, and are living in hardship
- ,
- then forgive them.
- Let it go.
- Release it sincerely for the sake of
- Allah. Allah will count that as zakat
- or charity, and so on; Allah is
- all-wise and all-just. Every good deed,
- no matter how small, is never ignored,
- never erased; it will always be
- accounted for. That is the justice of
- Allah, God willing.
- Alright, next we have a question from
- Ibu Ami. Peace be upon you and Allah's
- mercy and blessings, Ustaz. After
- finishing reading the Quran, I continue
- by reading the Asmaul Husna. Then I
- read Surah Al-Kahf. I have hopes that I
- want to ask of Allah Subhanhu wa ta'ala
- . Is that good, Ustaz? Peace.
- In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious
- , the Most Merciful. Very good. What
- you just conveyed, hoping in Allah,
- making Him your reliance, you should
- never stop asking Allah; if we ask
- humans once, twice, three times, ten
- times, they get bored.
- Yes.
- But with Allah, the more we draw near,
- the more we ask, the more we are loved.
- It means we truly treat Him as our Lord
- .
- Yes.
- People who treat Allah as their Lord go
- to Him for everything; a little bit of
- venting, a little bit of complaining, a
- little bit of asking for anything,
- please do so.
- Yes. But remember, before praying, you
- already read the Quran, which is all
- good. Start with Alhamdulillah, start
- with sholawat.
- Yes.
- And close it again with sholawat. That
- is the "pin" of the prayer.
- The "pin," yes. The "pin" is Allahumma
- sholli' ala Muhammad wa 'ala ali
- Muhammad. It is extraordinary, the
- Quran mentions Allah Subhanhu wa ta'ala
- sends blessings upon the Prophet and
- the angels send blessings upon the
- Prophet. So you are all encouraged to
- send blessings upon the Prophet. Yes.
- And if Allah uses the present
- continuous tense (fi'il mudhari'), "
- innallaha wa malaikatahu yusolluna." It
- does not mean Allah has already sent
- blessings. No. Allah is currently
- sending blessings.
- So if someone is asked, what is Allah
- doing right now? Allah is sending
- blessings.
- Continuous. Yes.
- Subhanallah. So there is a "pin" there.
- That shows Allah's love for the Prophet
- .
- So it is good. Alright. That's good,
- Ustaz.
- Very good. Yes.
- Yes. We are connected with a listener
- on the phone line. Hello. Peace be upon
- you.
- Peace be upon you.
- Alright. From whom? Where are you, sir?
- From a servant of Allah, sir.
- Please go ahead, sir. Ustaz, I want to
- ask, Ustaz. Is it true that the two
- rak'ahs of sunnah prayer before Subuh
- are better than the world and
- everything in it? Could you please
- explain this?
- Yes. Peace be upon you and Allah's
- mercy and blessings.
- That, Ustaz.
- Oh, yes. The rak'ahs.
- The rak'ahs of Al-Fajr. Two rak'ahs of
- dawn prayer [are better] than the world
- . In the name of Allah, the Most
- Gracious, the Most Merciful. Yes, that
- is correct. "Khairun minad dunya wa ma
- fiha," just imagine, it is
- extraordinary. That means the reward
- for those two rak'ahs of prayer earlier
- two rak'ahs before dawn, yes
- the value of that reward is higher than
- all the wealth in the world, the world
- and everything in it. It’s truly
- extraordinary, really. Only when we are
- there will we say, "Wow." So, you
- cannot compare what life will be like
- there in the hereafter. It is not like
- in this world, it is different. You'll
- already be happy if you have a house
- perhaps the size of the world for just
- one person, for one family. How about
- that? And there are no vehicles, you
- move from place to place with ease. Wow
- , it’s hard to imagine. Basically,
- whatever humans in this world cannot
- conceive, that is what heaven will be
- like. Now, if those two dawn rak'ahs
- already have a reward better than the
- world and its contents. What about
- other forms of worship?
- Why is the value so immense? At dawn,
- Ustadz.
- Yes, it is Allah's kindness. Because at
- dawn, people are sleepy.
- Extraordinarily sleepy. Especially if
- they prayed Tahajjud beforehand, right.
- Tahajjud, yes.
- Extraordinary. During Tahajjud, if you
- are tired of standing for two rak'ahs,
- you can sit. Sit and recite Yasin,
- recite Al-Mulk. Earlier, there was a
- mention of reading Al-Kahf, right. Yeah
- .
- There is a Hadith about reading Al-Kahf
- on Thursday night or Friday.
- And then, pray another two rak'ahs and
- recite what surah? Al-Mulk. Al-Mulk is
- a surah that the Prophet loved.
- Yeah.
- Yes. There are also many surahs; don't
- take it lightly. People like to say, "
- I'll just read Qulhu"(Al-Ikhlas),
- it’s okay since it's short. Oh. That
- is a great surah, it is about Tawheed.
- Allah loves that surah, Al-Ikhlas. And
- Allah also loves it when we call upon
- Him as Ya Dhal-Jalali wal-Ikram. Yeah.
- Ya Dhal-Jalali wal-Ikram. Because
- earlier it was about sustenance, like
- Ya Wahhab, Ya Basit, those are fine; Ya
- Fattah, it depends on what we desire,
- then mention Allah, prostrate,
- prostrate outside of prayer, prostrate
- to Allah, read whatever you want, read
- this surah, what is it called, "Sabbaha
- lillahi ma fis-samawati" from verse 1
- to 6 of Surah Al-Hadid.
- Surah Al-Hadid.
- Verses 1 to 6 are also Tasbih, "Sabbaha
- lillahi," everything in the heavens
- glorifies Allah, recite that while
- prostrating if you have it memorized.
- If you haven't memorized it, you can
- put it next to you and read it while
- doing so.
- Adding more prostrations is also fine.
- But I really love prostrating. Increase
- your prostrations, even outside of
- prayer. Prostrate when remembering the
- favors of Allah. When having sinned,
- say "O Allah, Astaghfirullah,"
- prostrate and ask for forgiveness, "
- Lord, forgive me, O Allah." While
- prostrating, pray; while prostrating,
- you are close to Allah. So that was it,
- Sir. Correct. That kind of dawn prayer
- has that reward in the hereafter. It
- means that here, people get this gift,
- get that gift, that's just how it is.
- Now, this gift from Allah in the
- hereafter is unimaginable.
- That is why it is better than the world
- and everything in it. Because the
- contents of this world, which we are so
- amazed by, are actually nothing
- compared to the hereafter.
- We eat the bananas of this world like
- this. But once we've eaten the bananas
- of the hereafter, we won't have an
- appetite for these anymore. The bananas
- of this world will be gone. Alright,
- Ustaz, let's go to the next caller.
- Hello. Peace be upon you.
- Hello. Peace be upon you.
- Who is this? Where are you, Ma'am?
- From Rukmini in Jonggol.
- Yes, the voice is not very loud.
- Yes.
- Yes.
- Hello.
- Yes, please go ahead, Ma'am. Who is
- this? Ma'am,
- Ma'am.
- Yes, Mrs. Mugni. Please go ahead, Ma'am
- .
- Jonggol.
- Alright, please go ahead, Ma'am.
- Ustaz, I want to ask something. For
- example, if I have money and I lend it
- to a friend who owns an agency. So, I
- will be given a share of the profit.
- But I don't ask for a specific amount
- of profit. It's up to them how much
- they want to give me. For example, if I
- have 2 million, they say they will pay
- in 10 installments. Then every
- installment they add 200, every month
- 200. Like 2 million plus 200 from them,
- Sir.
- Hm. You are lending money, right?
- Is that allowed, Sir?
- Huh?
- Yes. You are lending money, right?
- Yes. I lend money to them.
- Yes, yes, yes.
- But I don't ask for any specific return
- . I don't ask, it's up to them, if they
- want to give, it's fine.
- Okay. But they get an extra amount.
- They give me that extra amount.
- Yes. The extra is 200,000, right?
- 200,000 like that.
- Oh, I see.
- Is that allowed, Sir?
- Thank you, Sir.
- Peace be upon you.
- In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious
- , the Most Merciful. Yes, what is not
- allowed is usury (riba), right. Now,
- that must be clear from the beginning.
- Do not ask, just lend. Do not ask.
- Now, they give a gift because they made
- a profit.
- Uh-huh.
- There was no prior agreement, right?
- Yes. Well, that is allowed. If there is
- a prior agreement, that should not be
- mentioned.
- So there is no agreement.
- Yes.
- Lending is just lending.
- Now, if they want to give 200, don't
- make it a promise; when they return it,
- just give it as a gift.
- So it is acceptable, right?
- It is acceptable, but if there is an
- agreement,
- don't do that. If there is an agreement
- , it counts as
- excess on the loan.
- Yes. So there is no agreement. If they
- want to give, then they just give. If
- they don't give, it's okay, as you said
- earlier, right? Yes, that's right. But
- don't mention it from the beginning.
- Uh-huh. If, God willing, there is no
- prior agreement, it's okay, it becomes
- a gift.
- Alright, let's go to another question,
- Ustaz. From a servant of Allah in
- Jakarta. Peace be upon you and Allah's
- mercy and blessings. Ustaz, are there
- any practices or prayers that we can do
- to be given halal, blessed, and good
- sustenance? And does reading the 1000
- dinar verse refer to Surah At-Talaq?
- Does that include what is done after
- Dhuha prayer, Ustaz? Please enlighten
- me. Jazakallah.
- In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious
- , the Most Merciful. Yes, God willing,
- there is also a hadith about reciting
- Surah Al-Waqi'ah.
- Hm.
- To receive provision. Yes, you may
- certainly strive for anything. Begging
- for provision from Allah, pleading with
- Him, is actually very good. What is not
- allowed is begging from humans. But
- when it comes to Allah, that is exactly
- how it should be. Al-Faqir, people say
- "I am Al-Faqir." I am needy before
- Allah. It means "faqir" is in need. We
- need Allah, so we should present our
- needs to Allah. Good. It is fine to
- have the intention of seeking provision
- . Some people think reading the Quran
- while asking for provision is insincere
- . It is allowed, because asking Allah
- for provision is what we were told to
- do. "Seek from Allah your provision."
- Ask from Allah, for provision is with
- Allah, so ask a lot. Yes, that’s it.
- Asking Allah for provision is a good
- act of worship. Allah is offering it to
- us, right? So ask by reading this or
- that, reciting the verses as mentioned
- is good, reciting Surah Al-Waqi'ah is
- also good, and later you can also say "
- Ya Wahhab, Ya Razzaq, Ya Wahhab, Ya
- Razzaq." That is truly beautiful. Ya
- Wahhab, Ya Razzaq. Allah is the
- Provider of provision. Ya Razzaq, Ya
- Razzaq. Ask for provision. Earlier
- someone asked, is it okay to ask for
- abundant, halal, and good provision?
- Ask for that which is halal, pure, and
- abundant. It is allowed; we are not
- forbidden from enjoying the provision
- that Allah gives us. Zuhud (asceticism)
- is a matter of the heart. It is in the
- heart, not in the clothing. Wearing
- rags doesn't mean you are practicing
- zuhud; zuhud is for the sake of Allah
- in your heart. But we are allowed to
- wear good clothes, eat good food, and
- look presentable. That is allowed; the
- prophets were like that. Some prophets
- were merchants, some worked, and some
- were shepherds. And they dressed well,
- neatly, and cleanly. So, zuhud is not
- about wearing rags. No. Many people
- have nothing, but they are not
- practicing zuhud. They don't have it.
- But they really want a lot. What is not
- allowed is loving the world too much.
- Having plenty of provision is allowed,
- as long as it is not what you love most
- . Because this world is just a bridge.
- Even if the bridge were made of gold,
- no one sleeps on a bridge, right? God
- willing.
- Alright. Ustaz, let's move to the last
- question as our time is limited. We go
- to Ibu Rosita in Cikarang.
- Assalamu'alaikum warahmatullahi
- wabarakatuh, Ustaz. Is it permissible,
- Ustaz, to pray for my late husband's
- house to be sold soon, because all this
- time the inheritance has been
- controlled by his younger and older
- siblings? Please enlighten me, Ustaz.
- What should I do?
- In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious
- , the Most Merciful. Yes, that is
- allowed. Indeed, it is appropriate that
- after 40, 50, or 60 days, the
- inheritance should have been
- distributed. Sometimes, one of the
- heirs entitled to the inheritance tends
- to delay the distribution.
- Delaying it is not allowed. Because
- there are rights belonging to the
- children as well. When parents pass
- away, those are the rights of the
- orphans; when someone dies, their
- wealth immediately becomes the right of
- Allah.
- First of all, that wealth was only from
- Allah as a right of use.
- So, once the owner of the wealth passes
- away, it returns to Allah, so Allah is
- the one who distributes it; Allah has
- already willed in the Quran, this much
- for this person, this much for that
- person, so it is Allah who has already
- set it in the Quran. So humans are not
- allowed to distribute it according to
- their own methods. Now, if there is a
- will, it only applies to one-third. And
- that is only for non-heirs. Wills do
- not apply to heirs. Now, I want to
- address those listening; many have
- passed away and the distribution is
- being delayed. There is one or two
- heirs who disagree. "Later, just wait a
- while." That is not allowed, that is a
- sin. That is a right that Allah has
- already assigned to the heirs, it is
- already their right. Do not delay it.
- Of course, if someone has just died a
- few days ago, it wouldn't be
- appropriate to distribute it
- immediately. It is not forbidden, but
- it is not appropriate. Wait, usually
- after 40 days, it should be distributed
- . There are cases where the rightful
- heirs pass away, leaving behind orphans
- , and their eldest sibling still
- withholds it; there are many cases like
- this. Tell them not to be like that. Do
- not treat others unjustly. Do not make
- things difficult for others. You should
- be helping them instead. If you cannot
- help, do not make things difficult. So,
- it is hoped that those listening, if
- someone has passed away, after some
- time, distribute it. Do not withhold it
- with this excuse or that; distribute it
- . God has already divided it in the
- Quran. Yes, this is for this person,
- this is for that person. Just do it, do
- not delay it, okay. God willing.
- Alright, that is the last question we
- can answer, Ustaz.
- Yes.
- As a closing for our entire discussion,
- what would you say, Ustaz?
- So the point of this discussion is that
- Allah offers, Allah tells us to hope
- for sustenance from Him. Faftahu
- indallahir rizk. Seek sustenance from
- Allah. Seek sustenance from Allah. Do
- not desire what comes from people. Do
- not rely on others. Even if it comes
- from others, Allah is the one who moves
- their hearts to give, you know. So
- always seek sustenance from Allah
- because He is the best of providers.
- Meaning, only hope for sustenance from
- Allah. Do not hope from humans. That is
- it. Ultimately, our faith lies in
- hoping for Allah, asking for sustenance
- from Allah; that is faith. If our faith
- is lacking, we hope from other than
- Allah; that is a lack of faith. What is
- even worse is if we take what belongs
- to others. That is not from Allah;
- taking others 'rights is not good
- sustenance, it is bad sustenance. So,
- place your hopes only in the sustenance
- that comes from Allah. God willing, we
- will be safe in this world and the
- hereafter by providing our children and
- family with halal, pure sustenance—
- earning it purely and spending it in
- pure ways. May Allah grant this to all
- of us who are listening. May those who
- are ill be given health, and those who
- are in need be given good, halal, and
- wholesome sustenance. For those who
- have problems, God willing, may Allah
- open a way and resolve them. God
- willing. O Allah, O Most Generous, O
- Most Gracious, O Most Merciful, O
- Possessor of Majesty and Honor.
