- Blessings and peace be upon the Great
- Prophet Muhammad, may Allah honor him
- and grant him peace. To the honorable
- Habib Husein. To Mr. Parid, whom I also
- honor as the owner of Rasil, along with
- the Rasil team and crew. To all the
- honorable gentlemen and ladies present
- at the Silaturahim Mosque, may Allah
- Almighty bless you all. In this brief 7
- -minute talk, I would like to invite us
- all to practice Allah's first
- commandment when Ramadan arrives. What
- is Allah's first commandment, sir?
- Auzubillahiminasyaitanirrajim.
- Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. Iqra. Read.
- Yes, read. During Ramadan, read a lot,
- especially the Quran. Yes, I repeat
- that. During Ramadan, read a lot,
- especially the Quran. But I am not
- suggesting you set a target to complete
- it five times, no need. Read the Quran
- during Ramadan slowly. If possible,
- spend 4 hours after Sahur sitting and
- reading the Quran slowly. Read the
- translation carefully. For those who
- don't understand, go to Cibubur and ask
- Ustaz Husein what it means. Yes, I will
- repeat it so it sinks in. During
- Ramadan, practice Allah's first command
- : to read. Because the Quran was
- revealed in Ramadan, read the Quran.
- But this time, I am not encouraging you
- to compete in finishing the Quran
- during Ramadan. But read it slowly,
- repeatedly. Dzalikal kitabu la raiba
- fihi hudan lil muttaqin. Read its
- meaning: this is the Book about which
- there is no doubt. A guidance for those
- who are righteous. Ask yourself, have
- you made the Quran your life's guidance
- ? If not, then we are not among the
- righteous. Continue, keep reading,
- repeat it, repeat it, repeat it until
- you understand and can apply it to your
- daily life. I feel sorry for the people
- of this time, honorable gentlemen and
- ladies. They have become victims of the
- learned. This community is a victim of
- the "alim"(scholars). Because the
- learned people of this era have such
- high egos. They want followers, want to
- be famous, want their lectures to be
- praised. Meanwhile, those who come to
- listen are mostly people who rarely
- read the Quran. Finally, they are
- easily influenced by the stories of
- their teachers, their scholars. Be
- careful. How do we ensure we don't end
- up like cattle led by the nose, even by
- a Kiai? Read. Yes. What does Allah say
- about the Quran, sir? Syahru
- ramadanalladzi unzila fihil quran.
- Hudan lin-nas. The Quran is guidance
- for mankind, not just for ustads, not
- just for shaykhs, not just for ulama,
- but guidance for mankind. This Quran is
- guidance even for Benjamin Netanyahu
- because he is a human being. So I
- invite you, this coming Ramadan, to
- practice Allah's first command. This is
- Allah's first command. It is reading.
- Then what should be read? The Quran. No
- need to focus on completing it. Don't
- worry about completing it many times;
- just read a lot. Repeat it, repeat it,
- repeat it, repeat it, repeat it until
- you understand what it means. Those who
- don't understand, go to Cibubur to
- Ustaz Husein's house. But don't just
- show up unannounced. Ask what time he
- is there so you can understand. Because
- God says, fas'alu ahlaz-zikri in kuntum
- la ta'lamun. Ask the scholars if you do
- not know; this concept of fas'alu
- ahlaz-zikri is not a one-way street
- from the cleric to the student, that is
- wrong. That is not the concept of
- fas'alu ahlaz-zikri. When the command
- is to ask the people of knowledge, it
- shows that the listener also possesses
- knowledge; if there is something stuck,
- ask. We shouldn't just come as a blank
- slate and be willing to be taken
- anywhere by our cleric. If the cleric
- is righteous and holds fast, they will
- lead us in the right direction. But if
- the cleric is corrupt, they will lead
- us onto the path to hell. May God
- protect us. I repeat again, ladies and
- gentlemen, practice God's first command
- . Later in the month of Ramadan, what
- you read should be the Quran, not
- anything else. Yes, practice it so that
- our religion becomes better, so that we
- possess knowledge. Do not let yourself
- be intimidated by anyone. The Quran is
- a book that has been guaranteed by
- Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. Guidance for
- mankind, as a guide and a criterion.
- See, that is the guarantee from Allah
- Subhanahu wa ta'ala. No one will go
- astray when reading the Quran properly
- and correctly. But still, fas'alu
- ahlaz-zikri in kuntum la ta'lamun. Ask
- the experts, ask the scholars. Scholars
- who dhikr, scholars who are truly with
- Allah. That is why they are called the
- people of dhikr. Not scholars who only
- have knowledge, but scholars who are
- with Allah, who are experts in
- remembering Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala.
- Because now, there appear so-called
- fake interpreters in this Republic of
- Indonesia. Many sudden interpreters
- appear, and we don't know where they
- studied. Where their lineage of
- interpretation knowledge was taken from
- . Suddenly they are interpreting the
- Quran. Because they are good at public
- speaking, they are trusted by many
- people. So, be careful. I repeat it
- again, once more. In this month of
- Ramadan, practice God's first command,
- which is what? Iqra. Read. What should
- be read? The Quran. Don't read it with
- a target of finishing as many times as
- possible. Read with tranquility and
- humility. Calm and humbling oneself.
- Calmly. Repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat,
- repeat until it sticks in our hearts.
- If you don't understand, ask those who
- know, ask the scholars who are with
- Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. Ladies and
- gentlemen whom Allah honors. The second
- one, oh, it's a bit over, 7 minutes is
- okay, right, sir? I promised 7 minutes
- earlier, I apologize. One more thing,
- later in Ramadan. If I said earlier
- that in Ramadan you should practice
- this first command. In Ramadan, guard
- well the most important command of God.
- What is that? Does anyone know what
- God's most important command is? Why,
- silent.
- The five daily prayers, sir. Oh, two,
- right. Take this home well, ma'am. The
- first and the most important, I repeat
- again, this lecture didn't have a title
- earlier. I was also confused about
- where to get a title. Anyway, this is
- what I want to convey. The first
- message was to practice the first
- command. The second, practice the most
- important command. What is it? Praying
- the five daily prayers. If I challenge
- the men, would you dare to try? Would
- you dare, do you think? Do you dare? "O
- Allah, this Ramadan, I promise to pray
- all five daily prayers in the mosque
- with the imam." Is there anyone who
- would dare? If you dare, write it up
- with a notary, sir. I'm serious, so
- that I can hold you to it. You
- shouldn't just promise Allah with a
- stamp; at least write it down at home.
- "O Allah, this Ramadan, I promise to
- perform the five daily prayers at the
- mosque with the imam from the first
- takbir." There is a great secret in
- that. I will tell you the secret.
- Practice it and you will surely know.
- Call me later, and I will finally
- reveal the secret to you. Can the
- ladies practice this? Ustaz Husein is
- here. I apologize if I am issuing a
- fatwa. I permit women to perform the
- five daily prayers at the mosque. I
- disagree with the opinion that it is
- better for women to pray at home than
- at the mosque. But, excuse me, Habib
- Husein may have a different opinion
- than mine. But I am of the opinion that
- Indonesian women may pray at the mosque
- . Why? They go to attend religious
- lectures without their husbands. Well,
- if they can go to lectures without
- their husbands, why forbid them from
- praying? They go to the mall without
- their husbands. Are there wives who go
- to the mall with their husbands? Are
- there any Indonesian men who want to
- accompany their wives to the mall? None
- . To the market with their husbands?
- No. No. So, just go to the mosque
- instead. Does anyone really want to
- date in the mosque? God forbid. Is that
- allowed to be practiced? I welcome it
- warmly. Praying in the mosque, God
- willing, is safe from temptation.
- Because our partitions are good and
- everything else is well-managed. It may
- be practiced by women. But I also
- respect the opinion that says it is
- better for women to be at home. However
- , I emphasize that after my research,
- women who are beautiful indeed should
- pray at home. You're not allowed to
- laugh. Earlier, I was forbidden by
- Ustaz Husein not to make you laugh. I'm
- not trying to be funny, Habib. Laughing
- , yes. Grandmothers may come. Ah, yes.
- Just look in the mirror; if you're
- beautiful, stay at home. There, that's
- it. If you're not beautiful, feel free
- to come, because it's dangerous if
- beautiful women come to the mosque.
- That is why the Hadith was spoken by
- the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him
- , in Arabia, where, masya Allah, Arab
- women were created by Allah to be
- beautiful. But Indonesian women are,
- alhamdulillah, kind-hearted, aren't
- they? If women are beautiful, they are
- beautiful too, right Habib? Beautiful
- too. Oh, beautiful too, says Habib
- Husein. That means they must be at home
- then, right? If they are beautiful and
- kind-hearted, they must stay at home.
- Let me repeat that. Don't focus on the
- funny part, okay? I just can't seem to
- do it. It's apparently not funny. I try
- to be serious, but people still laugh.
- Let me try repeating it again. Our
- short sermon has actually gone over 7
- minutes. Practice the first commandment
- : read. Read the Qur'an, and don't just
- focus on finishing it quickly. But read
- it by understanding it. If you don't
- understand, ask the experts. Second,
- practice the most important commandment
- . Perform the five daily prayers at the
- mosque. Join the first takbir with the
- imam. If anyone is close to Mr. Jokowi,
- tell him if his mental revolution
- program is to succeed, order all
- ministers to perform the Dhuhr and Asr
- prayers in congregation at Istiqlal.
- Those who don't pray in congregation,
- rest assured it won't succeed. If the
- country's parliament members pray Dhuhr
- and Asr in congregation, or at least
- perform Fajr at their own homes, that
- would be something. Including Mr.
- Jokowi, he must pray too. How can this
- country have a mental revolution? I
- don't know about Mr. Jokowi, I hope
- with husnuzzan he prays five times a
- day in congregation at the mosque near
- the palace; there's probably a mosque,
- right? But if you are close to Mr.
- Jokowi, tell him there is a citizen
- named Salman Alfarisi whispering that
- if your mental revolution program is to
- succeed, return the Muslim community to
- the mosque. Return the Christian
- community to their respective churches.
- Return the Hindu community to what?
- What about Hindus?
- Pura. If the Buddhist community, to...
- Vihara. Return them to their respective
- places of worship and deepen their own
- religions. God willing, Indonesia's
- morals will return to being as good as
- our ancestors 'in the past. Polite,
- courteous, honest, kind, and so on.
- That is all I can say, I apologize.
- Actually, for prayer, people who are
- already gray-haired, Allah is ashamed
- to reject their prayers. I haven't gone
- gray yet. Huh? How is it, Bib? Kanil.
- Good. May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
- make us people who want to practice His
- commandments well and leave all His
- prohibitions sincerely. Ala hadin niah
