Al-Fatihah. I 3:25 seek refuge in Allah from the accursed 3:27 Satan. In the name of Allah, the Most 3:29 Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be 3:31 to Allah, Lord of the worlds. The Most 3:33 Gracious, the Most Merciful. Master of 3:35 the Day of Judgment. Praise be to Allah, Lord 3:51 of the worlds, and prayers and peace be 3:53 upon the noblest of messengers, our 3:56 master and leader Muhammad, and upon 3:58 his family and all his companions. To 4:00 proceed: the best speech is the Book of 4:03 Allah the Almighty, and the best 4:05 guidance is the guidance of Muhammad, 4:07 may Allah bless him and grant him peace 4:10 , and the worst of affairs are the 4:12 innovations, and every innovation is a 4:14 heresy, and every heresy leads to the 4:16 Fire. Listeners of Radio Silaturahim 4:23 and viewers of Rasil TV who are blessed 4:27 by Allah. Praise be to Allah, we once 4:31 again express our praise and gratitude 4:34 to the presence of Allah Subhanahu wa 4:36 ta'ala, who always pours out His 4:39 blessings and favors upon us, 4:41 especially the blessing of faith and 4:44 Islam, the blessing of good health, the 4:47 blessing of a long life in obedience, 4:50 including the blessing of our meeting 4:53 this afternoon, even if only through 4:55 the airwaves, in a state of good health 5:00 to carry out one of the obligations 5:02 commanded upon us all, namely seeking 5:05 knowledge. Which, God willing, in this 5:10 afternoon's meeting we will continue 5:14 our study from last week in this 5:22 theology and morality study with the 5:25 theme of*Zikrul Maut*, which is 5:28 remembering death. We pray to Allah 5:36 that whatever we seek and learn, Allah 5:39 grants us understanding, and may Allah 5:42 make the knowledge we obtain beneficial 5:49 for us in the hereafter. Amen, O Lord 5:53 of the worlds. May prayers and peace 5:57 always be poured upon our Prophet 5:59 Muhammad, may Allah bless him and his 6:02 family, his companions, his followers, 6:05 and those who practice his Sunnah, 6:09 listeners of Radio Silaturahim. If we 6:14 talk about the issue of*Zikrul Maut*, 6:18 remembering death, this is a theme that 6:23 is already rare; it is now rare for 6:26 people to remember such things. And 6:33 this is quite understandable. Let alone 6:38 now, Imam Al-Ghazali, may Allah have 6:42 mercy on him, he explained that in our 6:45 time, he said, very few people remember 6:49 death. If it was already like that in 6:53 Imam Ghazali's time, then surely there 6:55 is a reason why it is even more so 6:57 today. Now, listeners of Radio 7:01 Silaturahim, may you be blessed by 7:02 Allah. In this chapter on remembering 7:06 death, there are several sub-topics 7:08 that we will discuss and study. The 7:13 first is about the virtues of 7:18 remembering death as well as how to 7:24 endeavor to cultivate a habit of always 7:31 remembering death. Second, we will 7:37 discuss*tulul amal*, which means having 7:41 long-term worldly aspirations or 7:43 excessive fantasies. Then the third is 7:48 about the agony of death (*sakaratul 7:50 maut*). Likewise, the intensity of that 7:59 agony. The fourth is about the passing 8:07 of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon 8:09 him, and the Rightly Guided Caliphs. 8:13 And the fifth is about the words of 8:19 those facing death, from the Rightly 8:25 Guided Caliphs and the righteous, which 8:32 we can take as a lesson. Then the sixth 8:41 we will talk about and discuss the 8:44 sayings of those who are*arif billah*( 8:48 those who truly know Allah) regarding 8:54 corpses, the laws of visiting graves, 8:58 and so on. Then the next is what death 9:03 truly is. That is, the essence of death 9:06 . And the last one, the eighth, will 9:13 discuss what can be known or understood 9:18 about death through spiritual unveiling 9:23 in sleep. Now, listeners of Radio 9:28 Silaturahim who are blessed by Allah. 9:31 The first is about remembering death 9:34 and encouraging its frequent 9:37 remembrance, and how to cultivate a 9:45 desire to frequently remember death. 9:53 Indeed, humans are divided into three 9:57 categories in their relationship with 10:00 death. The first is, those whose lives 10:10 are busy, diligently and persistently 10:16 seeking worldly pleasures, adhering to 10:23 and following the deceptions of the 10:26 world and indulging in worldly desires. 10:33 So, for people like this, it is certain 10:36 that their hearts will be heedless of 10:39 remembering death because there is no 10:44 time for it. They are so occupied with 10:50 worldly matters that they forget and 10:53 are unaware that they will actually die 10:56 . Then, if someone reminds them about 11:03 death, they do not like it, yes. They 11:09 dislike it and run away from it. Those 11:14 are the people described by Allah in 11:17 the Quran, in Surah Al-Jumu'ah, if I'm 11:20 not mistaken, verse 8. "Qul innal 11:25 mautalladzi tafirruna minhu fainnahu 11:28 mulaqikum." Say, O Muhammad, "Verily, 11:40 death...""...that you are running away 11:45 from...""...it will surely meet you." 11:52 Indeed, death will come to meet you. 11:57 Yes. So, whoever a person is, willingly 12:04 or unwillingly, running or not, liking 12:07 it or not, they will definitely die. 12:13 Those who want to die will die. Those 12:16 who fear death will also die. The 12:19 healthy will die, and the sick will 12:21 also die. Yes, the believer will die, 12:25 the disbeliever will die, the smart 12:27 will die, and the foolish will also die 12:29 . Therefore, we do not need to ask for 12:35 death, for even if we don't ask, we 12:38 will still die, yes. And we don't need 12:45 to run away from death. Where would you 12:48 run to? Wong kullun nafsin dzaaiqatul 12:50 maut. Everything that has a soul will 12:53 surely die. With corona, you die; 12:57 without corona, you also die. Yes, 13:01 catch corona you die, not catch corona 13:03 you also die. Some even catch corona 13:06 and live, while those who don't catch 13:09 it actually die. So, nowadays many 13:14 people have this extraordinary fear, 13:17 but it's not actually fear of corona. 13:22 The problem is the fear of death. Yes. 13:28 So there was a teacher who once said, " 13:32 Why do people fear venomous snakes? 13:35 What exactly are they afraid of?" Yes. 13:39 Yes. The answer is, because of what is 13:42 it? Because of its venom. Right. Eh, 13:46 because of fear of its bite. Is it true 13:49 that this person is afraid of being 13:51 bitten by a snake? I'm sure it's not 13:56 because of the fear, but because of 13:59 what is it? The venom. Is it true that 14:04 they fear the venom? I'm sure it's not 14:09 the fear of the venom, but the fear of 14:11 the pain. Even if it's venomous, if it 14:15 didn't hurt, you wouldn't be afraid. 14:19 Right. Is it true this person fears the 14:22 pain? No. It is not actually the pain 14:24 they fear. What they truly fear is 14:28 death. Is it true that this person is 14:32 actually afraid of death? Some say no, 14:35 it's not really fear of death. They are 14:38 in love with life, that's what they say 14:39 . Yes. That's why there are efforts in 14:46 China, in America, there was once a 14:49 community where they are trying to find 14:53 a way to revive the dead. Now, that's 15:00 because everyone is afraid of death or 15:03 in love with life, and it's spreading 15:06 not just among ordinary people, but 15:10 also among religious teachers and 15:13 clerics too. Now, this will lead us to, 15:20 "Wow, Ustaz Jazuli, that means you're 15:22 going against them." It's not about 15:24 going against them. It is a fact that 15:27 we are all afraid of death. And this is 15:33 what God says, in the Qur'an it is 15:35 explained, "innal mautalladzi tafiruna 15:38 minhu fa innahu mulaqikum." Al-Ghazali 15:42 says those like this are called 15:44 al-munhamiq. So, people like this, are 15:56 what you call? Are included in the 16:00 words of the Prophet, peace be upon him 16:03 . Man kariha liqa Allah karihallahu 16:08 liqaahu. Who hates it? Who doesn't want 16:13 to meet with Allah? Allah also doesn't 16:16 want to. Allah hates to meet with them. 16:20 Now, this is the first one. If Allah 16:24 doesn't want to meet us, oh, what a 16:28 great loss for us. The second is the 16:33 person who repents. Yes, the person who 16:37 repents from that. So, if a person 16:41 repents, "fa innahu yaksuru min dhikril 16:45 maut." They will often, they will 16:48 remember death frequently, realizing 16:51 that they will die. And they realize 16:55 that everything they have nurtured, 16:58 everything they have sought, not even a 17:01 little bit can be taken with them. King 17:07 Alexander the Great was a king who was 17:10 highly respected by his rivals. By his 17:13 friends, feared by his enemies. He was 17:17 a powerful and wealthy king. When he 17:21 was about to die, he told his family, " 17:25 When I die, please do not wrap my hands 17:29 ." He said that when he was carried and 17:34 placed inside the coffin. "Keep my 17:36 hands outside the coffin." So it was 17:40 done. What was King Alexander the 17:44 Great's intention in doing that? Well, 17:48 he wanted to give advice to his people. 17:54 "Look at all of you, look at your 17:58 mighty king, who was feared by enemies, 18:02 respected by friends, and incredibly 18:06 wealthy.""He is helpless against death. 18:11 " Yes. "Then look at his two hands.""He 18:18 didn't take even a shred of his wealth, 18:21 because he no longer needs it and has 18:24 no ability to take it." This is what 18:29 constitutes his advice to them. And now 18:34 look at how, in our country, starting 18:38 from President Soekarno, President 18:42 Soeharto, and everyone else, heroes and 18:46 villains alike, they all died. However, 18:54 we see that for hundreds or thousands 18:58 of years, some names are still 19:04 remembered. Remembered for their 19:07 kindness, for their contributions. But 19:11 there are also those who, thousands of 19:13 years later, are still remembered for 19:15 their crimes. Oh God, why do we not 19:19 want to learn from this? Fahri, we are 19:24 currently making history, aren't we? We 19:28 are all makers of history. Will our 19:32 life story be written in golden ink or 19:36 in red ink? We are the ones writing it 19:40 ourselves. 10, 20, 30, 50, or 100 years 19:46 from now. Our life history will be read 19:52 by our children and grandchildren, by 19:54 our future generations. Yes, how proud 20:00 our descendants would be if they knew 20:04 that our life history was written in 20:09 golden ink. And how ashamed they would 20:13 be if the opposite were true. No matter 20:18 how cleverly we hide a rotting corpse, 20:20 it will eventually be smelled. No 20:24 matter how great we are at deceiving, 20:28 plotting, and so on, with extraordinary 20:33 packaging through image-building, for 20:37 example, it will all be exposed. 20:43 Because God does not like it when 20:45 people praise hypocrites. Just as God 20:50 does not like, and is not pleased if 20:53 good people are demeaned, they will 20:56 eventually be vindicated by God. Yes, 21:01 who is actually the hypocrite and who 21:03 is actually the true fighter. If we 21:08 cried when we were born, and everyone 21:11 around us laughed—our father, 21:14 grandfather, grandmother, uncle, aunt, 21:18 all laughed in joy—then resolve 21:23 within ourselves that someday, when we 21:28 return to face God with a smile, all of 21:33 you should be weeping. If necessary, 21:37 flying the flag at half-mast. Why? Well 21:42 , because they feel abandoned by 21:45 someone who had extraordinary merits 21:49 and kindness. And how disgraceful we 21:54 are if, when we die, people are 21:58 grateful. If when we are sick, many 22:02 pray that we die quickly. Oh God. How 22:07 terrible we are if many people pray for 22:11 bad things when we are sick. So, take a 22:17 lesson from things like this, okay? 22:22 Then we prepare ourselves so that when 22:26 we eventually face Allah, we return 22:29 with a smile. Because Allah has already 22:35 given us glad tidings. Yes, "wa hina 22:39 idzin tamurun." When the soul reaches 22:44 the throat, you will all see. See what? 22:49 See the place that will be your final 22:53 destination in the afterlife later. Is 22:58 it Heaven or Hell? Yes. So that is the 23:03 matter regarding "Thab." Now, the 23:05 person who has repented sometimes also 23:11 hates death. Meaning they do not like 23:13 to die. However, not liking to die does 23:18 not mean not wanting to meet Allah. But 23:24 their fear is actually not a fear of 23:28 death itself; rather, they fear the 23:31 loss, the absence of goodness, the lack 23:36 of virtues that are prerequisites for 23:40 meeting Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. So, 23:46 people like this, God willing, are not 23:48 included in the aforementioned hadith, 23:50 which states that whoever does not like 23:53 to meet Allah, Allah also does not like 23:55 to meet them. They are not included in 23:58 that. So let me illustrate it this way. 24:03 A person who loves, a lover, surely a 24:09 lover knows the time and place to meet 24:15 their beloved. Yes, it must be like 24:22 that. Likewise, a person who loves 24:26 Allah knows when it is time to meet 24:29 Allah. And it is impossible for them to 24:32 forget that. They definitely know when 24:35 the moment to meet Allah will be. Now, 24:41 if the person mentioned before didn't 24:45 like to die, a person who loves Allah 24:50 surely longs to meet Him. That is why 24:53 they really want to die, yes. Why is 24:58 that? Someone who loves surely feels 24:59 longing. For someone longing, there is 25:02 only one cure: meeting. As long as they 25:06 haven't met, that longing will not 25:09 disappear. So, someone who loves Allah 25:14 will definitely feel longing, and we 25:16 cannot meet Allah while we are still 25:18 alive. That is why this third type is 25:22 called the "arif." Now, as for the 25:25 second one I mentioned, the "attah," 25:31 they also do not like to die. Meaning 25:34 they do not like meeting Allah, but it 25:36 is not that they hate meeting Allah. It 25:41 is because they realize that they do 25:43 not have enough good deeds yet. Yes. So 25:47 , if I were to make an analogy, it 25:50 would be like this: for example, there 25:54 is someone......we love someone we miss 26:01 and really want to meet. Then, it turns 26:09 out they are already not far from us. 26:13 Let's say they are at a terminal here 26:15 in Jakarta. Then they say, "Bro, I am 26:20 already at the Rambutan terminal, God 26:24 willing, or at this station or at 26:27 Cengkareng, at Halim, God willing, in 3 26:32 minutes—uh, 30 minutes—I will 26:35 arrive there." Actually, we are 26:40 incredibly happy that we will meet in 26:42 30 minutes. But unfortunately, our 26:47 house is a mess, it is messy. It is 26:52 impossible to tidy it up in 30 minutes. 26:55 So, at that moment, we will say, "O 26:58 Allah, why must they come now?" If it 27:03 were tomorrow or the next day, I would 27:06 certainly clean and tidy it up first, 27:09 so that the meeting wouldn't be 27:12 disturbed by, you know, the mess. This 27:18 place would feel serene, extraordinary, 27:21 perfect; but that perfection would be 27:24 ruined by the mess in the house. So, 27:28 it's not that they don't want to meet. 27:31 Now, that is how this repentant person, 27:33 the Taib, is. Sometimes he does not 27:36 like death, but it is not really 27:39 disliking death itself; rather, he 27:42 feels he hasn't yet improved his deeds 27:46 or his heart, so he is certain this 27:49 will disturb his meeting with Allah 27:52 Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. This is what a 27:55 person like this is called. That is why 27:58 he does not fall into the category 28:00 mentioned by the Prophet sallallahu 28:01 alaihi wasallam in his hadith. "Whoever 28:04 dislikes meeting Allah, Allah dislikes 28:06 meeting him." The third one, well, the 28:11 third one is the Arif, the Muhib, the 28:14 person who loves Allah. If a person is 28:19 like this, they will surely always 28:21 remember Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. 28:24 Constantly. And it's not just 28:29 remembering; he truly desires death. 28:35 Why? The issue is the longing I 28:38 mentioned earlier. Because a person who 28:41 loves surely longs for the one they 28:43 love. And this longing will not vanish 28:48 or be cured until they meet. Yes, so do 28:54 not be surprised that many of the Aulia 28:57 desire death. Yes, I already discussed 29:03 this matter back in the chapter on 29:05 Mahabbah. Wait, isn't there a hadith 29:10 where the Prophet forbids us from 29:13 wishing for death? Oh, yes, that is 29:16 correct. But remember, the hadith says, 29:20 "La tatamanna ahadukumul mauta...""Do 29:25 not any of you wish for death," wishing 29:29 for death "li durrin ashabahu," because 29:34 of harm, sickness, or a calamity that 29:38 has befallen them. That is what is not 29:43 allowed. Because one is always poor, 29:46 always struggling, saying, "Oh Allah, 29:48 rather than suffering like this, I'd 29:49 rather just die." This is what is 29:52 forbidden. That is called despair. 29:55 Because one is sick and not recovering, 29:57 so they ask for death. That is not 29:59 right. This one is not sick, not 30:02 struggling, nothing. But because of 30:05 their longing to meet Allah, this is a 30:07 very praiseworthy act. So this is 30:12 clearly a characteristic of those who 30:14 love; it is just like that. Yes. So, as 30:22 for the second person, this Taib, his 30:27 reason is justified. If he does not 30:32 like death, his reason is accepted by 30:34 Allah. Now, for this third one, his 30:39 desire for death is also a reason 30:43 accepted by Allah. Even though the 30:47 Prophet said, "Do not ask for death." 30:52 But because the reason for asking for 30:54 death is longing, then his desire for 30:56 death is good. Ah, that is the first 31:02 point. What is the second? The virtue 31:06 of remembering death. The Prophet 31:10 sallallahu alaihi wa alihi wasallam 31:11 said, "Akthiru min dhikri hadhimil 31:13 ladhdhat." Yes, increase your 31:16 remembrance of the destroyer of all 31:19 pleasures. Because why? Regardless of 31:25 the three types, These three levels of 31:32 people, meaning the remembrance of 31:35 death for these three, well, 31:37 remembering death is always a good 31:39 thing. Even for the first type 31:44 mentioned earlier, why? It has an 31:47 influence on those who are negligent, 31:49 you know, because they are so busy with 31:51 worldly affairs they don't think about 31:53 death. Now, if they happen to remember, 31:58 it will still be good for them, even if 32:02 only for a moment; it has influence and 32:05 value. Although clearly, for the first 32:11 one, as Allah says in the Qur'an, it is 32:15 said that death will surely come to 32:19 meet you. Now, for the second, the 32:24 second characteristic is that they will 32:27 constantly prepare themselves, 32:30 occupying themselves to face death by 32:33 what? Increasing their good deeds. Last 32:38 night. I was teaching at the 32:44 Al-Magfirah Mosque in Cilangkap. It 32:51 happened to be related to the issue of 32:53 the teacher and the student, the issue 32:56 of knowledge. There are differing views 33:02 among scholars about who is more 33:05 superior, the teacher or the student, 33:08 the one teaching or the one learning. 33:14 Indeed, some say that the teacher, the 33:17 one who teaches, is more superior than 33:20 the one who learns. But there are also 33:24 those who say the one who learns is 33:26 more superior than the teacher. Yes. 33:30 However, what I...what should I call it 33:33 ? What I say is that in certain 33:36 situations, the teacher or the one 33:40 teaching is more superior, and in other 33:45 certain situations, the student is more 33:50 superior. But in general, the teacher 33:56 is more superior because why? The 34:02 Prophet, peace be upon him, said this: 34:04 "Be an 'alim.""Be a knowledgeable 34:07 person." Meaning someone who teaches 34:10 knowledge to others. "Or be a 34:14 muta'allim." Or if you can't be a 34:18 teacher, if you aren't a teacher, be a 34:20 student. Be someone who learns. Now, 34:26 what is meant by learning here is not 34:29 just listening. Yes. But a student is 34:34 someone who seeks knowledge with their 34:37 ears, their eyes, and also their hands. 34:43 Now, if you aren't a student, be a 34:46 listener, someone who listens. So that 34:51 means studying only with their ears. So 34:54 some people call it "jiping," they say 34:56 it's "ear-studying." Yes, that's the 35:00 third one. The fourth is "or a 35:03 supporter." If you can't be a teacher, 35:08 can't be a student, and can't even be a 35:12 listener, be someone who supports. Yes, 35:17 supports. Someone who likes knowledge, 35:21 likes religion. "Wala takun khamisan."" 35:26 Wala takun khamisan." The Prophet said, 35:28 don't be the fifth type. Already not 35:32 teaching, not wanting to learn, not 35:36 wanting to listen, not liking it, and 35:41 even breaking up people who are 35:43 studying. Yes. Then the assembly is 35:48 also, what's it called? Ah. Locked up. 35:55 Now, this is it. So what did the 35:57 Prophet say? "Fatahlik." You will be 35:59 destroyed if that's the case. Hmm. So 36:05 this second person. They will 36:10 constantly be seeking provision. Yes, 36:15 like earlier, why did it come now? If 36:19 only it were tomorrow, give me a chance 36:21 to set things right first. Oh Allah, 36:26 it's not that I don't want to die now, 36:28 but my sins are still many, and my good 36:30 deeds are few. Give me a chance, give 36:35 me time to improve myself, increase my 36:38 righteous deeds, and repent. Now, that 36:42 is the second one. That’s how it 36:44 should be. Now, moving on. Then Aisha ( 36:49 may Allah be pleased with her) said. 36:55 Mother Aisha (may Allah be pleased with 36:57 her) asked the Prophet, "O Messenger of 37:00 Allah, will anyone be gathered with the 37:02 martyrs?""Is there anyone who will be 37:06 gathered on the Day of Judgment along 37:09 with the martyrs, those who died in the 37:12 way of Allah?" Even though they did not 37:18 die as martyrs, they are gathered 37:19 together with those who did. Is there 37:22 such a person? The Prophet said. The 37:24 Prophet replied, "Yes." Yes, there is. 37:28 "Man yadhkurul maut fil yaumi 37:31 wallailati' ishrina marrah." That is, 37:35 someone who remembers death twenty 37:38 times a day and night. Is this number 37:44 20 indeed the specific number set by 37:46 the Prophet? Must it be exactly that 37:50 amount, or does it indicate a general 37:53 number? Meaning, many times. Just many, 37:58 in essence, frequently remember death. 38:01 Now, because why, brothers and sisters 38:09 in faith? Look, if we I remember when I 38:17 was in Rambutan, I had a neighbor who 38:20 was, what you call it, he was sick. 38:26 Then his wife said, "Sir, please try to 38:28 fix the roof, it's leaking when it 38:31 rains," and he got incredibly angry. " 38:36 Can't you see I'm sick?" he said, 38:38 getting angry. Now, this person had a 38:42 huge hobby of playing dominoes, Sir. So 38:46 if it was about dominoes, wow, he was 38:48 extraordinary. Not long after, his 38:50 friend came over with a domino set, 38:52 inviting him to play. Even though he 38:55 was sick and wrapped in a sarong, he 38:56 played dominoes. Extraordinary, right? 39:00 When a person already has a passion for 39:02 something, that's what it's like. Now, 39:06 imagine if this person knew he would 39:10 die the next morning, do you think he 39:16 would want to be invited to play? Yes, 39:19 invited to play dominoes. I am sure he 39:22 would not, he would not want to. 39:26 Because he knows he will die tomorrow 39:28 morning, he will use that night for as 39:33 much worship as possible. He wouldn't 39:36 even think about sleeping anymore. That 39:39 is why Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, keeps 39:44 many things hidden from us. Allah keeps 39:52 secret when that, what is it, Lailatul 39:56 Qadar is. Yes, Allah keeps it hidden. 40:00 Why is it kept hidden? That Lailatul 40:03 Qadar which has a value better than 40:05 1,000 months. So that we want to fill 40:12 the entire nights of Ramadan with 40:14 worship. If we knew that Lailatul Qadar 40:21 fell on a certain date and it was set, 40:25 we might only worship that one night 40:28 all night long. After all, its value is 40:33 better than 1,000 months, but because 40:35 we don't know, it could be on the 1st, 40:38 11th, 21st, or other dates. So finally, 40:43 we fill them all with worship. Because 40:49 if we fill them with worship from the 40:52 1st until the last, we will surely fill 40:54 Lailatul Qadar with worship. Even 40:58 though we don't know which date 41:00 Lailatul Qadar is, Allah also keeps, 41:04 what you call it, hidden, regarding 41:09 which sin will lead to the wrath of 41:12 Allah. Whether it is a major sin or a 41:18 minor sin, there is no explanation 41:21 given. Now, why is that so? So that we 41:28 avoid all sins, whether they are major 41:32 sins or minor ones. Because it could be 41:36 that God's wrath lies within a minor 41:39 sin. That is why the Prophet reminded 41:42 us like this: Look not at the smallness 41:48 of the sin. If you commit a minor sin, 41:55 do not look at how small the sin is, 41:58 but rather at whom you are sinning 42:00 against. Because it could be that God's 42:05 wrath resides precisely in that minor 42:07 sin. We do not know. Likewise, God 42:12 keeps secret where His pleasure lies. 42:16 Is it in major good deeds or minor good 42:19 deeds? We do not know. Why is it kept 42:21 secret? So that we perform all good 42:25 deeds. Not just the big ones, but we 42:28 should do the small ones too. Because 42:31 it could be that God's pleasure 42:34 actually lies in a small good deed. 42:38 Listen to what we have heard: When Imam 42:44 Al-Ghazali passed away, he was asked by 42:47 someone who met him in a dream, "How is 42:50 your condition?""Alhamdulillah, God is 42:53 pleased with me.""What deed was it that 42:56 made Him pleased with you?""Was it 42:58 because of your fasting, your 43:00 asceticism?""Your piety, your devotion, 43:05 or because you wrote the book Ihya? 43:08 None of those.""It only had something 43:12 to do with the writing of the book Ihya 43:15 .""When I was writing the book Ihya, I 43:22 used a pen with ink." Yes. "As I was 43:29 writing, a fly landed on my pen and 43:32 drank the ink." Imam Ghazali noticed 43:38 that the fly seemed thirsty. So, he 43:42 stopped writing. He let the fly drink 43:47 the ink. Once the fly was full and flew 43:52 away, he continued writing. He felt 43:56 touched and had pity for a single fly. 44:01 And that, it turns out, was what made 44:03 God pleased with Imam Ghazali. Consider 44:06 Sheikh Junaid Al-Baghdadi when he 44:08 passed away; it was the same. When 44:10 asked by people, "Was it because of 44:13 your piety?""Because of your Sufism and 44:18 all that which made God pleased?""No."" 44:24 But what made God pleased with me was 44:27 that one day I was walking in the 44:29 market of Basra.""I found a kitten that 44:34 was shivering from the cold because it 44:37 was all wet.""I saw it and felt touched 44:41 , pitying it very much.""So I took the 44:44 kitten with great care and wiped it 44:47 with the robe I was wearing.""I wiped 44:50 it and wrapped it in my robe so it 44:52 would be warm.""I kept it until it was 44:55 dry.""Once it was dry, I let it go." 44:58 Subhanallah. It seems that was what 45:01 gained God's pleasure. Just think of a 45:04 deed like that. That deed may be small 45:07 in our view, but in the sight of Allah 45:09 Subhanahu wa ta'ala, it is truly 45:11 extraordinary. And that is what brings 45:14 about God's pleasure. That is why it is 45:17 kept secret by God. So that we do all 45:21 good deeds, no matter how small they 45:24 may be. Because it could be that right 45:26 here lies the pleasure of God. See. 45:30 Likewise, God keeps secret the 45:32 identities of His saints (Wali). No one 45:35 knows whether someone is a saint or not 45:37 . Yes. Why then is it kept a secret? So 45:43 that we respect all people and do not 45:46 belittle them. Because it could be that 45:50 the person we have looked down upon is 45:52 actually a beloved of Allah Subhanahu 45:54 wa ta'ala. And when we honor a beloved 45:58 of Allah, Allah is surely very pleased. 46:04 Now, this also includes the matter of 46:07 death. Allah keeps secret when we will 46:11 die. When we die, Allah keeps it a 46:15 secret. For what? So that we are always 46:20 preparing ourselves. If death comes at 46:24 any time, we are ready. That is why it 46:27 is kept secret. If Allah had determined 46:31 that someone dies at a certain age, 46:33 then life would become chaotic. Fakri, 46:38 if it was determined you'd live to 65, 46:40 that means you have a few decades left. 46:44 "Ah, there's still a long time," you'd 46:46 think. You would act recklessly, 46:48 committing any sin, and the country and 46:51 the world would be in ruins. But by 46:55 keeping it secret, it could be that I 46:56 will die tomorrow. When about to commit 47:00 a sin, one thinks, "What if I die while 47:02 committing this sin? Oh, what a bad way 47:04 to go." That is why we are told to 47:08 always remember. And then al-isti'dad, 47:13 to prepare. Now, the Messenger of Allah 47:22 , peace be upon him, said, "Aksiru min 47:25 dhikril maut fainnahu yamhush-dhunub wa 47:28 yuzahhid fid dunya." Increase your 47:30 remembrance of death. Because 47:34 remembering death can, uh, "yamhush" 47:39 means to spit out. Like food being spit 47:42 out, it means it can remove sins and 47:45 also lead to detachment from the world. 47:50 Now, that is why there is the saying, " 47:55 Kafa bil mawti wa'izha." It is said 48:00 that death is sufficient as an advisor. 48:05 Yes, as an advisor. This is why, Pak 48:09 Hari, we as Ahlus Sunnah believe that 48:14 visiting graves is a good deed, a 48:17 sunnah from the sunnah of the prophets. 48:23 Because of what? Because by visiting 48:26 graves, we remember when we see those 48:28 who have died. Not just remembering, 48:31 but seeing those who are dead in their 48:32 graves. And by doing so, we will 48:35 naturally realize that we too will be 48:38 like them. When someone is ill, we are 48:43 told to visit the sick. When someone 48:46 dies, we are told to offer condolences. 48:49 When someone is buried, we are told to 48:51 visit the grave. Why? When seeing 48:53 someone sick, I realize I will also be 48:56 sick like them one day. If many people 49:00 visit someone when they are sick, it is 49:03 because they are a good person. Imagine 49:08 if they were a bad person; who would 49:11 visit someone evil? Now, that is what 49:14 comes to our mind. Even though we 49:18 shouldn't do good just so that people 49:21 visit us when we're sick, that's not 49:25 the goal. But we learn that they are 49:29 visited by many because Allah loves 49:31 them. Why do people like them? Because 49:34 they are good. Once they die, we offer 49:38 condolences so that we realize we too 49:40 will die. Then it is sunnah for us to 49:44 accompany the body to the grave while 49:46 reflecting, "Oh Allah." That is why our 49:49 sunnah is to contemplate. If you are 49:53 the one being carried now, it may be my 49:55 turn to be carried tomorrow or the next 49:58 day. If so many people are accompanying 50:02 you now to, what is it called? to the 50:05 cemetery. Will there be anyone to 50:09 accompany me there when I die? Oh, my 50:14 God. When we visit the graves, there 50:17 are many people there who offer prayers 50:19 . Later, when I die, will there be 50:22 anyone to pray for me? It does not mean 50:25 that we go to the cemetery to ask 50:27 things from the people in the graves. 50:29 The goal is what? To remind us of the 50:33 afterlife and also to cultivate 50:35 detachment from the world. It means 50:38 that detachment is not loving the world 50:40 . Wealth is not the issue. Even Prophet 50:44 Solomon was rich, one can be rich but 50:47 not be attached to wealth. Like that, 50:51 yes. Now, this is a scholar named Rabi 50:59 bin Husain. He wanted so much to 51:03 remember death every day that he dug a 51:06 pit in the middle of his house. Every 51:11 day he would tie his neck with a rope 51:14 and enter the grave pit he had built. 51:18 Then he would say, "O," said Rabi. "Eh, 51:23 Rabi said, 'O Allah, I am sure.'""O 51:32 Allah, if You return me to the world, I 51:34 will be a righteous person, I will be 51:36 an honest person.""I will be diligent 51:40 in worship and so on." Then he would 51:43 get up. Once he had woken up. "Eh, Rabi 51:46 , prove it, manifest now what you 51:50 promised to Allah before the arrival of 51:54 a day when, if you make the same 51:58 request, it will not be granted." He 52:02 increased his worship. In Tanah Abang, 52:06 there used to be a Mr. Hari. I got this 52:09 story from the late teacher, Mualim 52:13 Syafi'i Alhazami. In Tanah Abang, there 52:17 was a man, they say. He placed a 52:21 tombstone in his room. The tombstone 52:27 had his name written on it. Born on 52:33 such and such a date, Jakarta such and 52:35 such a date, died, it was left blank. 52:39 Ah, it was empty because he wasn't dead 52:40 yet. Now, that tombstone was placed in 52:44 his bedroom. Every time he opened the 52:48 door, the first thing he saw was that 52:50 tombstone. That is what he did. And 52:56 that tombstone was only used 30 years 52:59 later. That means the tombstone stayed 53:04 in his bedroom for 30 years. Now, why 53:08 did he do that? Every time he saw the 53:10 tombstone, he remembered that he was 53:12 going to die. And this is what will be 53:15 asked later. I shared this story with 53:18 my students. Subhanallah. There was a 53:22 student of mine, perhaps 10 years older 53:26 than me, one of my congregants. His 53:30 name is Mr. Tabrani, from Kampung 53:33 Rambutan, yes. He used to work in 53:39 Customs. Whenever he visited me, he 53:43 would shake my hand, kiss it, and cry. 53:49 And then he said, "Ustadz, I have 53:51 already bought the shroud, I bought the 53:55 cotton.""Then he called," he said, "his 53:58 children and wife." He was a true 54:01 Betawi, he said this, "Hey, when I die 54:04 later, write it like this, okay? My 54:08 name, my date of birth, and you just 54:10 fill in the date of death," he said. " 54:13 Here is my birth date, you won't need 54:16 to buy a shroud later, I've already 54:19 prepared the cotton.""That's how he was 54:23 ." Every time we met, he would shake my 54:26 hand and kiss it, I said, "Mr. Tabrani, 54:29 it's not you who should kiss my hand."" 54:32 I am the one who should kiss yours."" 54:34 I'm younger, after all.""Ah, no, Ustadz 54:37 ," he said, "you are my teacher." He 54:41 would cry whenever he remembered it. 54:43 Subhanallah, I felt ashamed. How could 54:46 my congregation be like that? Perhaps I 54:49 am the one who hasn't taught them well. 54:51 Well, he was incredibly humble. Even 54:55 though he said, "Oh God, Ustadz, my 54:58 sins are already like that.""Yeah." He 55:03 cried because he felt he had so many 55:05 sins. That's why I asked, "Mr. Tabrani, 55:08 " I said, "Between your sins and a 55:11 mountain, which one is bigger?""My sins 55:14 are bigger, Ustadz.""Compared to the 55:17 earth?""My sins are bigger.""Compared 55:20 to the sky, which one is bigger, my 55:22 sins?" I didn't even know what the 55:24 comparison between the sky and his sins 55:26 was. I was just saying things. "Then, 55:31 compared to Allah's Throne, are my sins 55:34 bigger?" Then I said this, "What about 55:38 compared to Allah's mercy?" and he just 55:40 went silent. "Compared to Allah's 55:43 compassion, which is greater?" He just 55:45 stayed silent. Mr. Tabrani. I said, "If 55:50 all the angels, humans, jinn, and 55:53 animals were to have their mistakes 55:57 recorded as sins.""And all those sins 56:02 were gathered into one.""Compared to 56:08 Allah's mercy, Allah's mercy is still 56:10 far greater than the sins of all 56:12 creation.""Especially just the sins of 56:15 Mr. Tabrani, which are small compared 56:17 to Allah's mercy." Because Allah's 56:20 mercy is "Inna rahmati wasi'at." 56:25 Allah's mercy encompasses all things, 56:27 and we are a small part of those things 56:29 . Do not despair. Do not despair of 56:34 Allah's mercy. That is what I told him. 56:37 That's why he was so accepting of it. 56:41 Yes, I am sure he had a good end ( 56:42 husnul khatimah) and may Allah make his 56:44 grave a garden from the gardens of 56:45 Paradise. Yes. Well, that's it, Fahri, 56:50 regarding the second point; next time 56:53 we will discuss the third, which is 56:55 about shortening one's hopes (tul 56:58 al-amal). We will discuss that in the 57:01 next meeting. 57:02 With the hope that may Allah subhanahu 57:05 wa ta'ala prolong our lives in worship. 57:09 Allahu Akbar. 57:09 Amin ya Rabbal Alamin. Alright, thank 57:11 you Ustadz Ahmadzuli Khul for the 57:13 enlightenment this afternoon. The theme 57:16 was remembering death (dhikr al-mawt). 57:20 May we become people who always 57:22 remember death, brothers and sisters. 57:25 Because according to the Prophet's 57:26 hadith, the wise and noble person is 57:28 one who always remembers death. Alright 57:31 , Ustadz. Let's get right to it, Ustaz, 57:33 to the questions that have come in. 57:35 Many have asked via the WhatsApp number 57:38 0811999720. I will read the first one 57:45 immediately, Ustaz, from Mr. Khairul in 57:47 East Jakarta. Peace be upon you, and 57:50 Allah's mercy and blessings, Ustaz. 57:52 And peace be upon you, and Allah's 57:53 mercy and blessings, 57:54 Ustaz. When someone becomes lazy and 57:58 pessimistic regarding worldly affairs 58:00 because they frequently remember death. 58:04 Is there something wrong in how they 58:06 interpret this*zikrul maut*(remembrance 58:07 of death), Ustaz? How should one 58:09 properly understand this*zikrul maut*, 58:12 Ustaz? That is all, 58:15 yes. In the name of Allah, the Most 58:18 Gracious, the Most Merciful. 58:23 Remembering death is a very good deed, 58:25 highly encouraged by the Messenger. 58:28 Because by remembering death, as the 58:31 Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said 58:35 , it can cultivate a sense of*zuhud*, 58:38 meaning detaching oneself from, what 58:41 you call it, being overly attached to 58:45 the world. Right. Besides that, such a 58:50 mindset can also erase sins. Because if 58:56 a person remembers death, they will 58:58 think twice before committing a sinful 59:01 act. But that doesn't mean that by 59:06 remembering death, we negate or remove, 59:10 or eliminate our spirit to obtain our 59:13 portion in this world. Because Allah 59:18 Himself said*la tansa**nashibaka minad 59:24 dunya*. Do not forget your portion in 59:27 this world. Yes, do not forget your 59:31 portion in this world. So, let's keep 59:35 our spirits up. It’s just that 59:38 seeking worldly things is limited to, 59:41 what should I say? Fulfilling life's 59:44 necessities in this world. How much do 59:47 we actually need? Yes, it's like that. 59:53 So it is a mistake if, because of* 59:56 zikrul maut*, we then don't want to 59:58 work, we don't want to, well, that's it 1:00:00 . 1:00:01 Yeah. So, the*zikrul maut*is good, but 1:00:06 leaving behind one's obligation to earn 1:00:09 a living, that is what's wrong. Yeah. 1:00:13 It cannot be blamed entirely. No. Yes, 1:00:16 keep doing*zikrul maut*. The*zikrul 1:00:19 maut*is good. It's just that they are 1:00:22 wrong to neglect their share in this 1:00:26 world. So these two things go hand in 1:00:29 hand, they remain in alignment. Our 1:00:32 obligation to earn a living must be 1:00:33 carried out. But if a person remembers 1:00:38 death while earning a living, it is 1:00:40 impossible for them to cheat. Let alone 1:00:45 stealing, that won't happen. Why? 1:00:48 Because they remember. So that is what 1:00:50 it means. Wherever we are. The Prophet 1:00:53 even said that someone who remembers 1:00:55 death 20 times a day and night will be 1:00:57 gathered with the martyrs. 1:01:00 Yeah. 1:01:01 That's right, 20 times. 1:01:03 Does a merchant even have time for that 1:01:06 20 times? It means we should always 1:01:08 remember at every moment. Every time we 1:01:11 are about to do something, we remember, 1:01:14 "Watch out, we will die, and there will 1:01:17 be a reckoning from Allah for all our 1:01:20 words and deeds," like that. So it 1:01:24 doesn't mean just sitting around 1:01:26 thinking about it; that's not what it 1:01:28 means. It's not about dwelling on death 1:01:31 , but remembering that we will die and 1:01:33 that every action we take will have 1:01:35 accountability. Allah knows best. 1:01:37 Alright, the next question comes from 1:01:40 Mr. Abdullah in Depok. Ustaz, peace be 1:01:42 upon you, and Allah's mercy and 1:01:43 blessings. 1:01:44 And peace be upon you, and Allah's 1:01:45 mercy and blessings. 1:01:46 Several years ago, when my mother was 1:01:49 on her deathbed, I was so distraught 1:01:52 that all I recited to her was ' 1:01:55 istighfar', not the 'tahlil'. Since 1:01:59 then, I have felt a sense of regret. 1:02:02 Why did I not recite the 'tahlil' at 1:02:04 that time? Please provide some insight 1:02:06 on this, Ustadz. 1:02:07 Alright. In the name of Allah, the Most 1:02:09 Gracious, the Most Merciful. A person 1:02:15 who knows is called 'alim', yes. A 1:02:18 person who does not know is called ' 1:02:20 jahil'. 'Jahil' means ignorant. When 1:02:24 your mother was passing or about to 1:02:27 pass, you didn't recite the 'tahlil'( 1:02:30 lailahaillallah) to guide her. Even 1:02:34 though that is the sunnah, right, 1:02:36 mental note. 1:02:37 But why didn't you recite it? Because 1:02:40 you didn't know. Yes, 'not knowing' is 1:02:45 just another word for ignorance. It's 1:02:49 just that we get angry when called 1:02:51 ignorant, but not when we're told we 1:02:54 don't know. Because we think not 1:02:56 knowing is not the same as being 1:02:58 ignorant. Even though, in reality, they 1:03:01 are synonyms. 1:03:02 Yes. 1:03:03 So, was it wrong at that time? Allah 1:03:06 does not punish or blame someone who 1:03:08 does not know. However, at that moment, 1:03:13 you wanted to do or say something good. 1:03:19 Yes. And what you thought was good at 1:03:22 that time was 'istighfar'. Was it wrong 1:03:26 ? No, it wasn't. At that moment, you 1:03:29 were not wrong and it will not be 1:03:30 recorded as a sin. 1:03:33 Like that. Even though, perhaps, you 1:03:36 should have known better at the time. 1:03:38 Yes. 1:03:40 And I am sure that if someone were to 1:03:42 pass away now, you wouldn't recite ' 1:03:43 istighfar' but would lead with 'talkin' 1:03:45 because you know better now, right? 1:03:48 Exactly. Regretting one's past 1:03:51 ignorance is fine. It's good, yes. 1:03:54 Yes. 1:03:55 That's good. Because that will later 1:03:59 become material for us to advise our 1:04:01 children. "Don't let it happen, child, 1:04:05 that you regret it later like your 1:04:06 father did," something like that. 1:04:09 That's already quite good, it's good. 1:04:14 So, you don't need to be afraid of 1:04:17 committing a sin or anything like that 1:04:20 because it was not a sinful act. What 1:04:24 you did was already good, given your 1:04:27 condition at the time. But if you chose 1:04:33 to do that now, well, that wouldn't be 1:04:35 good. The best thing is indeed the ' 1:04:38 tahlil'. But having a feeling of guilt 1:04:44 is something Allah likes more. Allah is 1:04:49 pleased when someone feels guilty. 1:04:51 Yes. 1:04:52 Feeling guilty. And Allah is not 1:04:56 pleased when someone feels they are 1:04:59 right and even feels entitled. Yes, 1:05:04 that kind of feeling is actually quite 1:05:07 good. God willing, yes. Allah knows 1:05:10 best. 1:05:11 Yes. Alright, next is a question from 1:05:13 Mr. Musawir. Ustadz, peace be upon you, 1:05:15 and Allah's mercy and blessings. 1:05:16 And peace be upon you, and Allah's 1:05:18 mercy and blessings. 1:05:19 Ustadz, at the moment of death, what 1:05:21 will the Angel of Death look like 1:05:23 before us? Please enlighten us, Ustadz. 1:05:27 In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious 1:05:28 , the Most Merciful. When one's soul is 1:05:33 taken, there are four great trials for 1:05:36 us, yes. One is the pain of having the 1:05:41 soul taken. The second is the terror of 1:05:48 seeing the Angel of Death. 1:05:50 Hmm. 1:05:52 The Prophet Ibrahim alaihissalam, when 1:05:55 visited by the Angel of Death, asked 1:05:58 through the Prophet Jibril, "Angel of 1:06:00 Death, have you come to visit me, to 1:06:03 pay respects, or to take my soul?" He 1:06:07 said, "No, just a visit.""Ah, finally 1:06:12 the Prophet Ibrahim said this, 'O Angel 1:06:15 of Death, would you show me your true 1:06:19 form?'""You will not be able to bear it 1:06:24 ," said the Angel. "Come on, just show 1:06:28 me," he said. "Show me.""Very well," 1:06:31 said the Angel of Death, "Now turn away 1:06:33 .""He said, turn your back to me." The 1:06:37 Prophet turned away. "Yes, now look." 1:06:43 As soon as he looked and saw his true 1:06:45 form, the Prophet Ibrahim immediately 1:06:47 fell unconscious. Once he regained 1:06:52 consciousness, the Angel of Death had 1:06:54 returned to his human form. 1:06:56 What did the Prophet Ibrahim say? " 1:06:58 Angel of Death.""If Allah did not 1:07:02 inflict any punishment, just seeing 1:07:06 your form is already a truly terrifying 1:07:09 torment." Now, this is only for people 1:07:15 who are, what shall we call them? For 1:07:20 those who are disbelievers, those who 1:07:21 are rebellious. Yes. But for the 1:07:26 believers, the righteous, it is 1:07:28 certainly not like that. Yes, not like 1:07:33 that. Because when the soul is taken 1:07:37 from that person there are some, as in 1:07:42 the Qur'an, "wa hinaidhin tanzurun"(at 1:07:44 that moment you will be watching). And 1:07:47 the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon 1:07:49 him, also explained that a person will 1:07:51 not leave this world. Yes, they will 1:07:55 not depart, they will not leave this 1:08:00 world. A person will not leave this 1:08:12 world until they know their place of 1:08:16 return and until they also know their 1:08:19 dwelling. 1:08:21 Whether it is heaven or hell. That will 1:08:24 be shown first by Allah. 1:08:26 That is the meaning of "wa hinaidhin 1:08:28 tanzurun." Yes, in which surah? 1:08:30 Al-Waqi'ah. That is why some people 1:08:34 pass away with longing, smiling, in 1:08:37 contentment. There are also those whose 1:08:40 eyes stare in terror. Why? Because of 1:08:42 what is shown by Allah. Yes...what is 1:08:51 it... "Bima ghafara li Rabbi wa 1:08:57 ja'alani minal mukramin." That was 1:09:00 Habib An-Najjar when he was dragged and 1:09:03 beaten by his people. 1:09:06 Yes, how painful was that? So, Allah 1:09:10 then showed him Paradise. By seeing 1:09:15 Paradise, the pain he suffered 1:09:17 disappeared. 1:09:19 Allah wanted to help him. That's how it 1:09:21 is. 1:09:21 Yes. 1:09:23 That is why he said, "Ya laita qawmi 1:09:26 ya'lamun, bima ghafara li Rabbi...""If 1:09:29 only my people knew," he said, "the 1:09:32 glory that Allah has given me by 1:09:35 showing me, what's it called, the 1:09:38 forgiveness of my sins and the showing 1:09:41 of Paradise, and everything else; that 1:09:45 is how it is." So the pain of the 1:09:49 throes of death is extraordinary. But 1:09:51 later for the believers, God willing, 1:09:54 it will be explained in the chapter 1:09:57 later. So, the point is, this Angel of 1:10:01 Death, when he arrives, can be 1:10:04 terrifying, or he might not be. 1:10:08 Yes. 1:10:08 Yes. Now, it depends on our deeds. 1:10:14 Yes. Like little children who are about 1:10:18 to have their teeth pulled. Some are 1:10:21 already crying because of the doctor, 1:10:24 perhaps because they see the doctor's 1:10:26 methods. But there are those little 1:10:30 kids whose teeth have fallen out but 1:10:32 they just stay quiet. Why? 1:10:34 The dentist is clever, isn't he? 1:10:37 Children are extraordinary 1:10:39 yes. Actually, this is already a 1:10:40 glimpse of the afterlife, especially 1:10:42 regarding the angels later on. 1:10:45 So if you, sir, do not want to be 1:10:46 terrified, do not want to see the angel 1:10:49 of death as something scary, then the 1:10:51 answer lies with Mr. Musawir himself. 1:10:54 Yes. Within ourselves, like that 1:10:56 yes. Very well. God knows best. 1:11:00 Yes. Next, from a servant of Allah, 1:11:03 Ustaz, in Tangerang. Peace be upon you, 1:11:05 and Allah's mercy and blessings, Ustaz. 1:11:06 And peace be upon you, and Allah's 1:11:08 mercy and blessings. Uh what is the 1:11:12 best prayer for me before death comes, 1:11:15 Ustaz? And is it permissible for us to 1:11:19 pray for a good end (husnul khatimah), 1:11:21 abundant sustenance, and sincere 1:11:22 repentance beforehand? That is all, 1:11:25 Ustaz. 1:11:25 Yes. Yes, indeed, uh, that prayer is, 1:11:30 uh, good. The Prophet once warned his 1:11:36 companions, "Let not one of you wish 1:11:39 for death because of an illness being 1:11:43 suffered." Now, if you must ask for 1:11:48 death, the Prophet said this, " 1:11:51 Allahumma ahyini ma kanatil hayatu 1:11:54 khairan li wa tawaffani idza kanat 1:12:02 wafat li khairan." Yes. O Allah, keep 1:12:07 me alive as long as life is better for 1:12:12 me and cause me to die if death is 1:12:16 better for me. The Prophet has already 1:12:19 taught us that. If we want to ask for 1:12:21 death. 1:12:22 Don't ask, "O Allah, rather than being 1:12:24 like this, just take my life." Don't be 1:12:26 like that. Even if you must, the 1:12:28 Prophet said, "If you ask for death, 1:12:30 this is how you do it.""Like that 1:12:32 earlier." O Allah, keep me alive if 1:12:36 life is better for me and cause me to 1:12:40 die if death is better for me. So in 1:12:45 the end, if you live, it's a good life. 1:12:47 And if you die, it's a good death. Now, 1:12:49 you mentioned asking for a good end ( 1:12:52 husnul khatimah), that is good, yes. 1:12:56 That's why you should increase that. 1:12:58 Like Habib Abdurrahman, yes, in his 1:13:02 Ratib there is, "Ya Allah biha, ya 1:13:05 Allah biha, ya Allah bihusnil khatimah. 1:13:09 " Yes, reciting that is, of course, 1:13:12 good. Because our request to Allah is 1:13:14 that Allah grants us a good end, 1:13:17 because a good end is what determines 1:13:19 whether we are successful or not, yes, 1:13:22 not now, but at the end of our lives 1:13:25 later. Whether we are unfortunate 1:13:27 people or successful people, it is at 1:13:29 the end of life, yes. God knows best. 1:13:32 From Mr. Johar in Kalideres. Ustaz, 1:13:34 peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy 1:13:36 and blessings. 1:13:37 And peace be upon you, and Allah's 1:13:38 mercy and blessings. 1:13:40 When we are sick, Ustaz, besides 1:13:42 getting treatment, what prayers should 1:13:44 be recited and what good deeds should 1:13:46 be done? That is all. 1:13:48 Very well. In the name of Allah, the 1:13:50 Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. There 1:13:53 are several hadiths that explain, yes, 1:13:56 that if we are sick, we should recite 1:14:00 Surah Al-Ikhlas 40 times. Whoever is 1:14:04 sick and recites Surah Al-Ikhlas 40 1:14:08 times, yes, then if they recover, or if 1:14:12 they pass away, all their sins are 1:14:15 forgiven. If they recover, all their 1:14:20 bad blood or whatever is also replaced 1:14:24 and also in 1:14:25 uh, the forgiveness of Allah Subhanahu 1:14:27 wa ta'ala. 40 times reading Surah 1:14:29 Al-Ikhlas. 1:14:30 Yes. Now, then in another hadith, it is 1:14:33 to read the prayer of Prophet Yunus. 1:14:36 Prophet Yunus. 1:14:38 La ilaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu 1:14:40 minaz-zalimin. Yes. 1:14:43 Now, if I suggest to my in-laws, I say 1:14:47 this, "Well, if you are sick, just 1:14:51 increase your reading of Al-Ikhlas. 1:14:57 Read it 40 times. Later, after 40 times 1:15:00 , read the prayer of Prophet Yunus. La 1:15:02 ilaha illa anta subhanaka. Later, if 1:15:07 Allah intends to heal, Allah will heal 1:15:09 you quickly. If, for example, the 1:15:13 illness leads to death, then Allah will 1:15:16 erase all their sins. that is what is 1:15:19 read. Likewise, when my mother was sick 1:15:22 , my mother always read that. Besides 1:15:26 the verses she had memorized, such as 1:15:28 Yasin, Ar-Rahman, Waqi'ah, and Tabarak. 1:15:33 Now, I said this," Mother, increase 1:15:35 this, yes, Al-Ikhlas 40 times. Later, 1:15:38 if done, switch to the prayer of 1:15:40 Prophet, uh, Prophet Yunus 40 times. " 1:15:43 Yes. 1:15:44 Yes, that is a practice, a prayer. 1:15:46 a practice that is recited, yes. Uh-huh 1:15:48 . Yes, wallahu a'lam. Next is a 1:15:50 question from Mr. Yusril, Ustaz. Peace 1:15:53 be upon you, and Allah's mercy and 1:15:54 blessings. Peace be upon you, and 1:15:55 Allah's mercy and blessings. 1:15:56 Uh, Ustaz, could you please explain 1:15:58 about the disease of wahan and how it 1:16:00 can afflict the people of the end times 1:16:02 , Ustaz? Like that. 1:16:05 Yes. Yes, the disease of wahan consists 1:16:10 of two things. First, hubbud dunya ( 1:16:12 love of the world) and this is related 1:16:14 to the second, waqaratul maut (hatred 1:16:16 of death). they are afraid of death. 1:16:21 And if a person already has hubbud 1:16:23 dunya, then it can be said, certainly, 1:16:26 it is certain they fear death. This is 1:16:30 already a disease. Which currently, 1:16:33 right now, has spread everywhere like 1:16:38 this. In all layers, yes. in all layers 1:16:43 , what is called hubbud dunya wa 1:16:46 qarahatul maut, yes. Now, because of 1:16:50 that, then with us doing a lot of 1:16:53 tafakkur (reflection) earlier, that is 1:16:55 looking 1:16:57 tafakkur 1:16:58 yes, uh, what is called remembering 1:17:01 death. God willing, if a person 1:17:04 remembers death, later, because the 1:17:06 Prophet himself has already said, right 1:17:09 . 1:17:09 Yes. 1:17:10 That remembering death will cause a 1:17:13 person to then remember the afterlife 1:17:17 and also be ascetic toward the world. 1:17:22 Because if we remember death, well, 1:17:25 that is what I said, if we knew we were 1:17:28 dying tomorrow, tonight we would not 1:17:31 sleep, if invited to commit sins, we 1:17:33 would not want to, that is the 1:17:36 influence of death. 1:17:38 Yes. 1:17:40 So, the reason why people are struck by 1:17:42 the disease of wahan is because of that 1:17:44 , forgetting death. Now, and it is very 1:17:49 true that the Messenger of Allah said," 1:17:52 Aksiru min dhikri hadhthillat. " 1:17:54 Increase your remembrance of death. Yes 1:17:58 , but do not, because of remembering 1:18:03 death, then we abandon our other duties 1:18:07 . No, it is not like that, which I have 1:18:10 already explained. 1:18:11 yes. Maybe that is all for now, Mr. Ru. 1:18:14 Very well, Ustaz. There was, there was 1:18:16 a last question, a final message from a 1:18:18 listener, they said please ask this to 1:18:20 the Ustaz. 1:18:22 Ustaz, please, what is the practice for 1:18:25 heart purification, Ustaz? 1:18:27 Yes. 1:18:27 Lastly. 1:18:29 Okay, bismillahirrahmanirrahim, there 1:18:33 are several steps to purifying the 1:18:36 heart; the first step is riyadah, and 1:18:40 the second is mujahadah. 1:18:43 Mujahadah, what is riyadah? Like this. 1:18:48 To be clean, it has to be healthy, 1:18:50 right? Meaning the heart, Mr. Ria. 1:18:52 Yes. 1:18:54 Our physical body, if we want it to be 1:18:56 healthy, must be fed. 1:18:59 Yes. 1:19:00 Well, likewise with the heart. 1:19:01 Yes. 1:19:02 How about physical food? Well, it must 1:19:06 be tayyib (wholesome). Eat what is 1:19:09 tayyib, what is nutritious. Now, how 1:19:12 about the heart? For the heart, it's 1:19:16 not about being nutritious, but being 1:19:18 halal. If it’s nutritious but not 1:19:22 halal, the body is good but the heart 1:19:25 is ruined. If it’s halal but not 1:19:28 tayyib, the heart is fine but the body 1:19:30 will be ruined. That’s why, how do we 1:19:34 make the heart good and healthy, and 1:19:35 the body healthy too? We are told to 1:19:44 eat what is halal and tayyib. Halal 1:19:46 relates back to the heart. Then what? 1:19:50 Tayyib relates back to the body. Then 1:19:54 is it enough just to eat to be 1:19:56 physically healthy? No. Not enough. We 1:20:01 also need exercise. Ah, that exercise 1:20:04 is called riyadah. Running or whatever. 1:20:10 Or swimming, then cycling, that is the 1:20:13 exercise. Now, our heart is the same, 1:20:16 it needs heart exercise. 1:20:18 Heart exercise. 1:20:19 Like that. Now, what is the hardest 1:20:23 good deed for us to do? Oh, for example 1:20:28 , if charity is the hardest, let's 1:20:29 force ourselves every day, even if it's 1:20:32 just a little bit, keep going. Imam 1:20:35 Ghazali said the cure is only to do the 1:20:38 opposite. 1:20:39 The opposite. 1:20:40 This is training yourself. Training 1:20:42 yourself and then increasing your 1:20:45 worship. Now, these are all the steps 1:20:49 to clean the, what is it called, the 1:20:53 heart so that later, what, the bad 1:20:56 traits—the love of lying, deceiving 1:20:59 people, envy, jealousy—Then what else 1:21:03 ? Well, that, by itself, will later, 1:21:07 well, it will decrease. With the 1:21:11 disappearance of bad traits, our hearts 1:21:14 will become clear, become clean, like 1:21:17 that. 1:21:19 That is through the aforementioned 1:21:21 riyadah and mujahadah. Mujahadah means 1:21:24 struggling. 1:21:25 Yes. 1:21:25 Yes. Mujahadah is struggling, and that 1:21:28 is what we must do throughout our lives 1:21:31 . Mujahadah is for our whole life. 1:21:35 It’s not, you know, just for a month 1:21:37 or two; it’s continuous, always. 1:21:40 For life. 1:21:41 Yes, exactly." Wa'bud Rabbaka hatta 1:21:45 ya'tiyakal yaqin. " 1:21:48 So, worship your Lord until certainty 1:21:51 comes to you. What is meant by" 1:21:54 certainty "here? Death. 1:21:57 Yes. So, as long as we are not yet dead 1:22:00 , we keep serving Allah. The effort is 1:22:05 how to make ourselves, our souls, 1:22:08 become clean. So that later we can be 1:22:13 united, to gather with the Most Holy. 1:22:17 Because it is impossible for the Most 1:22:19 Holy to accept what is dirty; it must 1:22:21 be pure. That is the way: riyadah and 1:22:24 mujahadah. Yes, later there will be, 1:22:27 what is it called, a discussion about 1:22:28 it. There will be a discussion. 1:22:31 Hopefully, Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala 1:22:34 extends our lives in obedience to Him. 1:22:36 Amin. 1:22:36 May Allah guide our hearts to the path 1:22:39 He is pleased with and loves. 1:22:41 And may Allah adorn our hearts with 1:22:43 noble character. May Allah cleanse our 1:22:46 hearts from despicable character. And 1:22:48 may Allah bestow His mercy, guidance, 1:22:50 and direction upon us and our 1:22:52 descendants, so we may remain steadfast 1:22:54 in following His commands and avoiding 1:22:56 His prohibitions. Rabbana taqabbal 1:22:58 minna yaum hasanah akaraallahu 1:23:08 sayyidina Muhammadin wa sallam. 1:23:11 Alhamdulillahi rabbil alamin. Peace be 1:23:13 upon you, and Allah's mercy and 1:23:14 blessings. 1:23:15 And peace be upon you, and Allah's 1:23:16 mercy and blessings. That was our 1:23:17 afternoon lecture with Ustaz Ahmad 1:23:20 Zazuli Kholil regarding 'zikrul maut', 1:23:22 the remembrance of death, which we have 1:23:24 just listened to together. May what the 1:23:27 Ustaz shared increase our knowledge and 1:23:29 also strengthen our faith in Allah 1:23:31 Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. Thank you very 1:23:33 much to those who have joined and sent 1:23:35 WhatsApp messages to 0811999720. We 1:23:40 apologize for not being able to read 1:23:42 them all due to time constraints. And peace be upon you, and 1:23:58 Allah's mercy and blessings. 1:24:00 And peace be upon you, and Allah's 1:24:02 mercy and blessings.
