- just now, at Ustaz Jazir ASP, who was
- part of the Shura Council of Jogokarian
- Mosque, Yogyakarta, and for the last
- year had served as an advisor to Radio
- Silaturahim. He visited Rasil quite
- often to provide advice, input, and
- also joined us for several broadcasts.
- Ustaz. Alhamdulillah, Ustaz Husein has
- also arrived, and perhaps you could
- lead a prayer for him, Ustaz.
- May he be placed in the best position
- by Allah's side. Please, Ustaz.
- In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious
- , the Most Merciful. All praise is due
- to Allah, Lord of the worlds. Praise
- that is abundant, good, and blessed, as
- our Lord loves and is pleased with. O
- Allah, bestow blessings upon Muhammad
- and the family of Muhammad. Peace be
- upon you. O Messenger of Allah. Peace
- be upon us and upon the righteous
- servants of Allah. And may the peace,
- mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon
- you. Brothers and sisters who are
- blessed by Allah. Hopefully this
- morning, the second morning of the
- month of Rajab which is sanctified by
- Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, becomes a
- month of education for us to truly
- guard and uphold the honor of Allah
- Subhanahu wa ta'ala, the honor of our
- fellow human beings, as well as the
- honor of our environment that we must
- protect, all of which are things
- sanctified by Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala
- . We have just heard the news of the
- passing of Ustaz Jazir, who was quite
- vocal and courageous in speaking the
- truth without any hesitation. Yes, we
- hope that his struggle and his jihad in
- the path of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala
- will be accepted by Allah Ta'ala, his
- sins forgiven, his status elevated, and
- that he be gathered with the companions
- of our Prophet who fought in the path
- of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. He had
- been ill for quite some time and had
- undergone dialysis repeatedly.
- Hopefully, his illness serves as an
- expiation for his sins.
- Amen.
- Let us pray, beginning by reciting
- al-Fatihah together. May this
- recitation be a good means for us. To
- open all our hearts and open the doors
- of Allah's mercy.
- Likewise, may there be forgiveness for
- us, for the deceased, and for all
- Muslim men and women. I seek refuge in
- Allah from the accursed Satan. In the
- name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the
- Most Merciful. All praise is due to
- Allah, Lord of the worlds, the Most
- Gracious, the Most Merciful. Master of
- the Day of Judgment. You alone we
- worship and You alone we ask for help.
- Guide us to the straight path. The path
- of those upon whom You have bestowed
- favor. Not of those who have evoked [
- Your] anger or of those who are astray.
- Amen.
- Amen. In the name of Allah, the Most
- Gracious, the Most Merciful. All praise
- is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds. O
- Allah, bestow blessings upon Muhammad
- and the family of Muhammad. O Allah, we
- ask You by Your name that is good, pure
- , and blessed, the most beloved to You,
- which when You are called upon by it,
- You answer, and when You are asked by
- it, You give, and when You are asked
- for mercy by it, You show mercy;
- forgive us and our brothers who
- preceded us in faith, and all believing
- men and women from the east of the
- earth to its west. O Allah, forgive our
- brother, Ustaz Jazir. O Allah, forgive
- him, have mercy on him, grant him
- well-being, and pardon him. O Allah, if
- he was a doer of good, increase his
- good deeds, and if he was a doer of
- evil, overlook his sins. O Allah, grant
- him an easy reckoning. O Allah, grant
- him an easy reckoning. O Allah, grant
- him an easy reckoning.
- And make his grave, O our Lord, O Most
- Merciful, O Most Compassionate, a
- garden from the gardens of Paradise,
- and do not make it a pit of fire. O
- Allah, O our Lord, admit him into the
- vastness of Your Paradise with those
- whom You have favored, among the
- prophets, the truthful, the martyrs,
- and the righteous. O Allah, admit him
- into the vastness of Your Paradise in
- the company of Your Prophet Muhammad,
- may Allah's peace and blessings be upon
- him and his family, and grant patience
- to his family. Indeed, to Allah we
- belong and to Him we shall return. Our
- Lord, You are the All-Hearing, the
- All-Knowing, and You are the Accepting
- of repentance, the Most Merciful. All
- praise is due to Allah, Lord of the
- worlds.
- Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen, O Lord of the
- worlds. God willing, may Ustaz Jazir
- ASP, as the advisory council of
- Jogokariyan Mosque, be granted the best
- place by Allah. Amen.
- His contributions, MashaAllah, in
- making Jogokariyan Mosque and many
- other mosques in various regions
- flourish, Ustaz. MashaAllah. Regarding
- how to manage a mosque correctly, and
- how to make a mosque flourish.
- MashaAllah, may that also be a
- continuous charity for him. Amen.
- Amen, O Lord of the Worlds.
- Brothers. Very well. On this occasion,
- Ustaz, perhaps we would like to discuss
- the nobility of a mother, Ustaz. This
- is also a question often asked by
- listeners, about the true status of a
- mother in Islam compared to other
- family members. And also, why did the
- Prophet mention the word 'mother' three
- times before mentioning 'father' in the
- hadith regarding who is most entitled
- to good treatment. Also, we request an
- explanation of the deep meaning behind
- the phrase "heaven is under the feet of
- mothers." Is this hadith authentic, and
- also regarding traditions, Ustaz? The
- culture of honoring mothers on Mother's
- Day, Ustaz, on December 22nd, which
- coincides with today. Does this
- constitute imitation (tasyabbuh), and
- other questions? Essentially, how does
- Islam honor a mother? We invite you,
- Ustaz. I seek refuge in Allah from the
- accursed Satan. In the name of Allah,
- the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
- Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds,
- praise that is abundant, good, and
- blessed, as our Lord loves and is
- pleased with. Our Lord, increase our
- knowledge. O Allah, grant us mercy from
- Yourself and provide us with knowledge
- that is beneficial to us. Brothers and
- sisters who are blessed by Allah. In
- the midst of a society drowned in
- materialism, we find that family
- relationships and brotherhood, are
- becoming, day by day, what?
- Increasingly fragile. (H)
- The warmth that we felt in the past,
- when most humans were still conscious,
- not yet controlled by the extraordinary
- materialistic life like today. We truly
- feel that when we meet one of our
- family members, our relatives, we feel
- an extraordinary warmth. After a long
- time without meeting, we feel a longing
- . Especially for both of our parents.
- If we listen to the words of Allah
- Subhanahu wa ta'ala in the Qur'an, we
- find that the status of both parents is
- so noble. Until Allah Subhanahu wa
- ta'ala says: "And your Lord has decreed
- that you worship none but Him." In the
- testament that Allah poured into
- Suratul Isra, and this testament is one
- that was also conveyed to the prophets
- and messengers before our Prophet
- Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam.
- Including being among the 10
- commandments that Allah gave to Musa.
- Allah has decreed, Allah uses the word
- 'qada' here which shows firmness, "
- waqada rabbuka." Your Lord has decreed
- "alla ta'budu illa iyyah." That you do
- not worship anything except Allah
- Subhanahu wa ta'ala. "Wabil walidaini
- ihsana." And Allah also commands you to
- treat both your parents with 'ihsana',
- with good and noble treatment. Whether
- our parents are believers or not, the
- decree from Allah requires us to treat
- them with nobility. If someone is
- obedient to Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala,
- worships Him, and gives charity,
- executing the commands of Allah, but
- neglecting one's parents, then all the
- obedience performed will crumble and
- fall away. This is not a trivial matter
- . Just as someone, even if they live a
- life doing good on the face of this
- earth, but they associate partners with
- Allah, then they will not receive
- forgiveness from Allah Subhanahu wa
- ta'ala. Just as if they believe in the
- oneness of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala,
- perform prayers, pay zakat, perform
- Hajj, fast, and are kind to the
- community, but they waste their parents
- ,
- then there is no hope for them to enter
- into paradise. Allah Subhanahu wa
- ta'ala repeatedly reminds us, giving us
- a testament to treat our parents well.
- Then the question is, why does Allah
- Subhanahu wa ta'ala not remind us to
- treat our children with nobility? H why
- is it that regarding wives, Allah
- commands us to treat them with kindness
- , "wa'asyiruhunna bil ma'ruf." And a
- woman becomes our wife after the
- marriage contract. But for parents, our
- relationship with them is a
- relationship that is truly very deep.
- Our conception happened through the
- union of our father and mother. We grew
- in our mother's womb. Therefore,
- Allah's message regarding parents is
- specifically for our mothers. It is
- explicit in the Qur'an. As the word of
- Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala in Surah
- Al-Ahqaf. Wa wassaynal insana bi
- walidayhi ihsana. We sternly advise
- every human being that they treat both
- their parents with good and noble
- treatment. Hamalat-hu ummuhu kurha wa
- waḍa'at-hu kurha. Especially the
- mother who carries with hardship in
- uncomfortable conditions. Not for a day
- or two, but nine months. Wa
- waḍa'at-hu kurha. And she also gives
- birth with great difficulty, even
- possibly experiencing hemorrhage,
- pushing herself toward death. But
- although she carried with difficulty,
- gave birth with difficulty, as soon as
- she gives birth to her child, her heart
- , her soul, her face are full of
- beaming happiness because of love for
- the child. Wa hamluhu wa fiṣaluhu
- thalathuna syahr. The period of her
- pregnancy plus the breastfeeding period
- until weaning is approximately 30
- months. That is a fairly long time. Is
- it finished? No. After weaning, a
- mother's duty is actually even heavier.
- She begins watching over her child,
- caring for them, then paying more
- attention to the child than to herself.
- When she finds her child in a healthy
- state, in good condition, beaming, her
- heart is happy and joyful. But when she
- finds her child in an uncomfortable
- state or sick, her heart is restless,
- her tears well up as she witnesses her
- child in a state of sickness, fever,
- especially when they face dangerous
- moments. The child feels the heat and
- the pain of the illness, but the
- mother's heart is fuller with worry and
- truly pure love. She works for her
- child, not for 1 hour, 2 hours, or 3
- hours,
- but works for 24 hours without
- receiving any reward. Sometimes, even
- when the child succeeds, they forget
- their parents. Their attention is
- focused more on their wife and children
- . This is why Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala
- repeatedly conveys His will to us to
- treat our parents with noble treatment.
- Because water usually does not go up
- unless it is pumped. It always flows
- downwards towards children and towards
- a wife. A man gives his attention
- without being reminded. But towards his
- parents, whose services are greater
- than his wife and children. We often
- encounter children who do not remember
- the kindness of their parents. They
- assume that what their parents did was
- an obligation to their children. While
- they do not feel obligated to be
- devoted, do good, and treat their
- parents nobly. It turns out parents '
- care is not just limited to one or two
- years. Even though they are already
- married, if their child is sick, a
- mother's worry is greater. Likewise
- parents towards whom? Towards their
- child. Even though they have separated,
- even though they have a household, even
- though they have children, once parents
- hear their child is sick, their heart
- immediately feels uncomfortable. A love
- that is truly sincere, pure, without
- expecting a reward. But many children
- nowadays. A man, once married, has
- great attention for his wife and
- children, but forgets his parents. Some
- even make their parents like domestic
- helpers to take care of their children.
- Instead of honoring them. Even though
- Allah has repeatedly given His will to
- them. We even hear the conversation and
- words of someone who was asked, "What
- if a child's income is only enough for
- him, his wife, and his children, and he
- is unable to help his parents?" the
- answer. Then he gives what he gets to
- his wife and children.
- He is not yet obligated to help his
- parents when his income is not
- sufficient. It turns out the answer
- from GPT, which we consider not a
- sentient being. AI has
- when asked, "What is your opinion if
- someone's income is just enough for his
- family, while he is unable to meet the
- needs of his parents who are in
- difficult circumstances?" The answer,
- the income is divided into two. Part
- for his parents, part for his family.
- This is a truly interesting answer. Why
- ? Because Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala,
- with the kindness given to his parents,
- will open the doors of mercy. This is a
- test. A test to examine his gratitude
- towards his parents. As soon as he
- gives attention to his parents, Allah
- will open the doors of His mercy.
- Therefore, whoever wants their sins
- forgiven, their sustenance eased, and
- their status raised, honor their
- parents. I personally know several
- people who are very devoted to their
- parents, treat their parents
- extraordinarily,
- and always sternly remind their wives.
- to treat both of their parents well.
- Including reminding their children and
- those around them to honor their
- parents. A son says to his wife, "I can
- forgive you if you make mistakes
- between you and me." But if you treat
- my parents in a way that is not noble,
- then I will decide to separate from you
- . His time and attention toward his
- parents were incomparable. He felt that
- all his success and what he achieved
- were because of his parents' sacrifices
- . Once, when he married a woman, she
- felt angry whenever she saw her husband
- giving to his parents. She said, "You
- should ask for my permission if you
- want to give anything to your parents.
- I am your wife, your partner." Her
- husband said, "They gave everything for
- me. And what you receive right now is
- all thanks to my mother's sacrifices."
- Because of his wife's behavior, he
- decided to leave her. He separated from
- his wife. That is also what happened to
- the football player from Spain, Ronaldo
- . He left his wife. Because of what?
- Because she was rude to his mother. He
- then said, "My success is because of my
- mother's struggle. She worked as a
- manual laborer washing clothes to buy
- shoes for her child so he could play
- football." So we see that in this era,
- materialism has truly replaced noble
- values, moral values, devotion to
- parents, love and warmth for the family
- , and being kind and noble to others.
- They consider all these things
- incomparable to material value, which
- they truly cherish and honor. They also
- honor people who possess material
- wealth. They look down on the little
- people who are poor and helpless. This
- is not just happening in general
- society, but even among religious
- people, this is often done by them.
- Acting rudely toward their parents.
- Likewise in Surah Luqman. Allah
- Subhanahu wa ta'ala recounts how Allah
- tells of Luqman giving advice to his
- son. In between, Allah reminds every
- child to treat their parents with
- nobility. Allah says in Surah Luqman,
- starting from verse 12. Walaqina
- luqmanal hikmata aniskurillah wam
- yaskur fainnama yaskuru linafsih waman
- kafara fainnallaha ghaniyun hamid.
- Indeed, We have bestowed upon Luqman
- wisdom. This 'hikmah' is truly wisdom.
- Placing things in their proper place.
- Behaving in the proper place as well.
- So Allah says, "Waman yutal hikmata
- faqad utiya khairon katir.""Whoever is
- given wisdom has indeed been given an
- abundance of good." We bestowed upon
- Luqman wisdom, until he became known as
- Luqman al-Hakim. Anisykur lillah.
- Anisykur. You should be grateful to
- Allah. Wam yaskur fainnama yaskuru
- linafsih. Whoever is grateful, surely
- their gratitude will return as a
- benefit to themselves. When he is
- grateful to Allah, Allah Subhanahu wa
- ta'ala is not benefited. But his
- gratitude, its benefit returns entirely
- to him. Being grateful to both parents
- because of obeying Allah Ta'ala. Allah
- will bestow infinite mercy and
- blessings upon him. Waman kafar
- fainnallaha ghaniyun hamid. Whoever is
- ungrateful, indeed Allah is
- All-Sufficient and Worthy of all praise
- . Allah bestowed upon Luqman wisdom.
- Among the greatest forms of wisdom is
- to be grateful to Allah Subhanahu wa
- ta'ala. Waid qala Luqmanu libnihi
- wahuwa ya'izuhu. Ya bunayya la tusyrik
- billah inna syirka lazhulmun 'azim. And
- when Luqman said to his son, giving him
- the best advice and guidance, "Never
- associate partners with Allah Subhanahu
- wa ta'ala." Inna syirka lazhulmun' azim
- . Indeed, shirk (polytheism) is a great
- injustice. There is no greater
- injustice than shirk. Once a person
- associates partners with Allah, they
- have betrayed the Allah who created
- them without any partner. Yet they
- associate Allah with His creations. As
- a consequence of this shirk, it will
- ruin their entire life. A life built
- upon shirk is a broken life, a life
- filled with injustice. It is different
- from a life built upon faith in Allah,
- faith in the Last Day, faith in His
- Books, and faith in His Messengers,
- which guides them on the straight path.
- Then, Wa wassaynal insana biwalidayhi
- hamalathu ummuhu wahnan 'ala wahnin wa
- fishaluhu fi' amayni ani-skurli
- waliwalidayka ilayyal mashir. In
- between, eh, the favors that Allah gave
- to Luqman, and likewise Luqman's
- bequest to his son. Allah Subhanahu wa
- ta'ala asserts, "Wa wassaynal insan.""
- And We have strictly advised mankind
- regarding their parents, to treat them
- with noble treatment." Take care of,
- pay attention to, and love your parents
- who have sacrificed for you. Hamalathu
- ummuhu wahnan 'ala wahnin wa fisaluhu.
- She carried him through hardship and
- difficulty. And the weaning period was
- for two years. Then Allah reminds, "
- Ani-skurli waliwalidayka ilayyal mashir
- .""Give thanks to Me and to your
- parents." And to Me, eventually, you
- will be returned. We see Allah reminds
- mankind to be grateful to Allah and to
- be grateful to their parents. If in
- Surah Al-Isra, "Qadha Rabbuka alla
- ta'budu illa iyyahu wabil walidayni
- ihsana." An affirmation and decree from
- Allah. Whoever violates it will not
- receive Allah's mercy, so that you do
- not worship anyone except Allah alone.
- And Allah also mandates that you treat
- your parents with good and noble
- treatment. Wa in jahadaka' ala an
- tusyrika bi ma laysa laka bihi 'ilmun
- fala tuti'huma washahibhuma fid dunya
- ma'rufa. If your parents force you,
- asking you to perform an act that is
- not right, to associate others with Me,
- or say, acts forbidden by Allah.
- Parents order us to do something wrong.
- Do not obey them. Washahibhuma fid
- dunya ma'rufa. But continue to
- associate with them in a kind way. Even
- when parents commit shirk against Allah
- , Allah still commands us to treat them
- nobly. Our treatment should not be
- connected to what? Their shirk toward
- Allah. Their act of shirk is their own
- responsibility. But the child must
- still treat their parents with nobility
- . Truly, this is such beautiful
- guidance and direction in life. Truly.
- Washahibhuma fid dunya ma'rufa wattabi'
- sabila man anaba ilayya. In this life's
- journey, follow the path of those who
- return to Me. Not the path of those
- controlled by desires, by the love of
- the world, forgetting the hereafter.
- Their lives are tossed about by the
- devil in the midst of unclear waves of
- life. Tumma ilaiya marjiukum
- faunabbiukum bimaa kuntum tam'malun.
- Then to Me you will all be returned,
- and I will inform you of what you used
- to do. Life in this world is not long.
- Even if we live for 100 years, our life
- is brief. Because one day in the sight
- of Allah is equal to 1,000 years. So
- that means we only live 1/10 of one day
- of the hereafter. Whereas the life of
- the hereafter has no end. What will we
- boast about? We chase the world that
- runs away from us. We are full of
- loyalty to the world, yet the world
- betrays us. When we are left helpless,
- the world only watches and laughs at us
- . Because we have prioritized the world
- while forgetting Allah. Who created
- this world. In the end, we become a
- game tossed about by anxiety, unrest,
- fear, and hope, all of which are
- illusions and mirages. Unlike those who
- love Allah, Allah grants them both the
- world and the hereafter. So remember,
- before long you will be returned to Me
- and I will inform you of what you used
- to do. Ya bunayya, O my son. Innaha in
- taku mithqala habbatim min khardalin
- fatakun fi sakhratin aw fis samawati aw
- fil ardhi ya'ti bihallah. Innallaha
- latifun khabir. O my son, truly any
- deed any deed, no matter how small, be
- it associating partners with Allah,
- sins, evil, or oppression, no matter
- how small, say that the deed, that deed
- is only the weight of a mustard seed.
- This is an expression for something
- extremely, extremely small. Say that
- the deed you did is a small deed.
- Hidden in a rock or kept in the heavens
- or in the earth. Its existence is
- hidden. Allah will bring that deed
- forth. Yati bihallah. Innallaha latifun
- khabir. Indeed, Allah is the Subtle.
- Meaning, whatever is subtle, no matter
- how small, will be brought forth by
- Allah. Allah's scales vibrate for
- anything, no matter how small, and not
- just material things. Things that are
- abstract will make the scales of Allah
- Subhanahu wa ta'ala vibrate. Not just
- small things, not just material ones;
- abstract things will make Allah's
- scales vibrate, no matter how small.
- That is the mercy and love of Allah,
- who will not let anyone's goodness go
- to waste. But Allah will not let any
- oppression, however small, committed by
- humans pass, unless he repents back to
- Allah. Innallaha latifun khabir. Indeed
- , Allah is the Subtle, the Knowing. Ya
- bunayya aqimis-salah, wa'mur
- bil-ma'rufi wanha 'anil-munkar. O my
- son, establish prayer. Then carry out
- your duty as a member of society who
- invites to what is good, to noble
- values. Do not let evil instead be
- called for loudly. Are there many?
- Those who invite to it, while the voice
- for what is good is low; you, together
- with your friends and brothers, must
- invite to what is good. Wamur bil
- ma'rufi. Then wanil munkar and forbid
- what is evil. Do not let the evil
- openly, boldly, and loudly raise its
- voice and show its face. While the good
- remains hidden out of shame. Wa'mur
- bil-ma'rufi wanha' anil-munkari washbir
- 'ala ma ashabaka inna dhalika min'
- azmil-umur. Be patient with whatever
- befalls you in your life's journey of
- obeying Allah, inviting to the good,
- and forbidding the evil. Because the
- trials you face are trials that are
- truly of great value. Therefore,
- prophets who possess a patient soul,
- who invite to virtue, who call people
- back to Allah, are known as Ulul Azmi
- minar-rusul, prophets who possess great
- determination. So, be patient with
- whatever befalls you on the path of
- Allah in conveying the messages of
- Allah. And this is a great matter that
- truly requires what? Great
- determination. Therefore, its value is
- also immense in the sight of Allah
- Subhanahu wa ta'ala. Wala tus'hir
- khaddaka lin-nasi wala tamshi fil-ardi
- maraha. Do not turn your face away from
- people in arrogance. Do not aggrandize
- yourself before others, belittling them
- by turning your cheek away from them
- while speaking. When shaking hands,
- instead of shaking their hands while
- speaking sweet words, looking at them,
- and honoring them, Allah will honor and
- raise your status. So, do not turn your
- face away in front of people. Wala
- tamshi fil-ardi maraha. And do not walk
- on the earth with pride. With full what
- ? Pride and arrogance. Allah Subhanahu
- wa ta'ala emphasizes, "Innallaha la
- yuhibbu kulla mukhtalin fakhur.""Allah
- does not like anyone who is arrogant."
- Mukhtal describes arrogant body
- language. Fakhur is one who loves to
- boast. Walk with simplicity and full
- humility upon the earth. Then lower
- your voice. Do not raise your voice too
- high, which shows arrogance and pride.
- Inna ankaral-aswati lasawtul-hamir.
- Indeed, the harshest of all voices,
- which is most disliked and rejected, is
- the voice of the donkey. This is a
- counsel, a testament that Allah
- Subhanahu wa ta'ala has willed and
- advised to us through the tongue of
- Luqman al-Hakim. This is what? Advice
- conveyed by Luqman and also recorded by
- Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. Allah
- conveys this to every nation. Now, if
- we reflect together on the testaments
- in Surah Luqman as well as in Surah
- Al-Ahqaf, and also found in Suratul
- Ankabut and Suratul An'am, it reminds
- us all to truly worship Allah, not to
- associate anything with Allah, and
- secondly, to truly treat our parents
- with nobility. Therefore, a child
- should when they are mature and able to
- work, their attention to their parents
- should be even greater than their
- attention to themselves or their own
- family.
- Because their family actually receives
- what? Receives what? the success fought
- for by her parents until she attained a
- good husband, a husband capable of
- working to provide for his wife, and
- likewise for their children.
- Therefore, guide our wives to respect
- our parents. Just as a man should also
- respect and honor his wife's parents,
- who gifted their daughter to us after a
- long upbringing without receiving
- anything in return, with the hope that
- we also treat their daughter with
- nobility. But remember, do not let us
- forget our own parents because of our
- wives or our children. Therefore,
- whoever honors their parents throughout
- their life? God willing, Allah
- Subhanahu wa ta'ala will grant them
- honor, even if they are not a believer.
- If they are a believer, Allah will
- honor them in this world. Likewise, in
- the hereafter, Allah Subhanahu wa
- ta'ala will bestow honor upon His
- believing servants who do not associate
- anything with Allah and who honor both
- their parents. Wallahu'alam (And Allah
- knows best).
- Very well, Ustaz. Next, Ustaz, let us
- proceed. There are two questions, one
- from Mr. Ahmad
- in Cilegon, and Bunda Khairoh, who did
- not mention her location, Ustaz,
- regarding this nobility of the mother,
- Ustaz. The first, Ustaz, how can one
- heal the wounded heart of a mother if
- we have committed a great mistake
- against her in the past, Ustaz? Then
- from Bunda Khairo, "Ustaz, what is your
- message for the youth and our children
- who nowadays sometimes prioritize their
- hobbies or friends over serving their
- mother's needs at home?" Okay, Ustaz.
- That is all.
- In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious
- , the Most Merciful. Our Lord, increase
- us in knowledge and join us with the
- righteous. Hobbies are a good thing for
- someone as long as they lead to
- positive things, and do not make one
- forget their obligations to Allah,
- their obligations to their parents,
- their obligations to their family, and
- their obligations to their society. But
- if, for the sake of a hobby, they
- ignore or neglect their obligations,
- then by itself, this is not a good or
- healthy thing. Like someone who has a
- hobby of being addicted to consuming
- cigarettes. Cigarettes are often viewed
- as a trivial matter, right? Even though
- we know that smoking, besides harming
- ourselves, we can also wrong others
- with the smoke that we puff from our
- mouths, affecting people who do not
- smoke, and also what? It can also harm
- our wives and our children who receive
- our smoke puffs every day. They spread
- disease not only to themselves but also
- to those around them. Thirdly, they
- waste their wealth in the wrong places.
- Fourthly, besides wasting their wealth
- in the wrong places, they also what?
- They also use their wealth for the
- benefit of people who are of no use to
- the community. For reasons like this,
- the ruling on cigarettes is no longer
- just makruh (disliked) but haram (
- forbidden). Allah says in the Qur'an, "
- Wala tubazzir tabzira." Do not spend
- your wealth wastefully. "Innal
- mubazzirina kanu ikhwanash-shayatin..."
- Indeed, those who like to waste their
- wealth are brothers to the devils. And
- the devil is a creature that is defiant
- toward its Lord. So we are befriending
- and fraternizing with the devil. Who
- says that smoking is not squandering
- one's wealth? If there is a prohibition
- in the Quran like this, it indicates it
- is haram. Every command that lacks any
- evidence or context to divert that
- command indicates an obligation;
- conversely, if there is a prohibition
- without anything
- that diverts from that prohibition,
- then the ruling is haram. That is a
- well-known principle in usul fiqh (
- principles of jurisprudence). So on
- this basis, based on this verse alone,
- it is already haram. Second, committing
- injustice (zulm). Allah forbids us from
- committing injustice. Likewise, the
- traditions (sunnah) of our Prophet
- Muhammad, peace be upon him. Whether it
- is harming ourselves, harming others,
- our families, or our society. These are
- all acts forbidden by Allah Subhanahu
- wa ta'ala. In fact, Allah has forbidden
- injustice upon Himself. Allah has made
- injustice haram among us. Verses that
- forbid us from committing injustice are
- numerous. The Prophet's hadith, both
- those spoken directly by the Prophet or
- hadith qudsi, clearly forbid injustice.
- This is already two matters.
- Third,
- plunging ourselves into destruction. Wa
- la tulqu wa la tulqu bi-aydikum ila
- al-tahlukah. Do not plunge yourselves
- into destruction. Cigarettes clearly
- cause damage slowly. When we should be
- protecting our bodies, we damage them
- with our own hands; our lungs, hearts,
- and other organs also suffer
- disturbances. Not to mention the wealth
- we spend does not benefit the Muslims,
- but benefits conglomerates and
- oligarchs
- whose contributions to the community
- are invisible. Even if they pay taxes,
- we know that some of these taxes leak
- here and there. The ones who benefit
- are officials, while the people only
- hear the figures but do not enjoy the
- results. In other countries, if people
- pay high taxes, they truly feel the
- impact. Feel what? They feel it, the
- entire population feels it. Witness the
- situation in Australia or New Zealand.
- Welfare for those unable to work, those
- who have no job opportunities at all,
- and the sick truly receive attention
- from the state. They are even given
- appreciation for paying taxes. The gap
- between rich and poor is not too wide,
- unlike in developing countries. We
- witness how little attention is given
- to the people. In fact, if we look
- closely, the people become victims of
- the actions of those in power. Likewise
- with the oligarchs who collaborate with
- them, as we encounter where?
- We encounter it in Sumatra
- and in other places.
- Alright, Ustaz. About the one earlier,
- what about once having hurt Mother?
- Alright. So, regarding what must be
- reminded to our children, hobbies
- that are harmful must be combated. And
- we must remember that we are
- responsible for the deeds we commit
- and will one day stand before Allah
- regarding this brief worldly life and
- the hobbies we enjoyed. actually only
- provides momentary pleasure, but will
- become a heavy burden for us in the
- hereafter later on. Therefore, negative
- hobbies, hobbies that cause us to
- neglect our obligations to God, to our
- parents, to our families, to our
- society, must be fought against. And
- the community should also work together
- . Because it is difficult if, for
- example, what? One person faces such a
- heavy trial amidst regulations that
- allow it, and amidst a society that is
- also fond of doing it. Now if we pay
- attention, our media often encourages
- wrongdoing. Advertisements leading
- toward pornography as an example. It is
- incredibly rampant, easily accessible
- to anyone. Then, there are applications
- that provide it that we can also
- install, right. Even when asked about
- age, a small child can easily lie.
- Asked how old you are, you say 30 years
- old?
- They will not at all, what, they will
- not ask further because why? This is
- what? It is a profitable market for
- them.
- Yes.
- Likewise regarding online loans,
- regarding online gambling, regarding
- infidelity. The applications are
- available and easily obtained by anyone
- who wants them. A country like this, a
- country that destroys its people, truly
- destroys what and corrupts their morals
- . A nation is not measured by its
- physical prosperity, but by its morals
- and character. Therefore, a poet
- expressed the Prophet's primary mission
- , that a nation is seen by its
- character and morals. If its character
- and morals are corrupted, then that
- nation, even if it exists, is the same
- as non-existent. It is heading toward
- destruction. So, let us help our youth
- to live in a healthy environment,
- healthy opinions, accustomed to doing
- good things, and directed so that their
- hobbies are in a positive, good
- direction, that can truly what? Make
- them responsible people toward their
- families, toward society, toward the
- nation and country. As for bad hobbies
- like corruption,
- Yeah. corruptive, yes, committed by
- oligarchs or officials, these are
- hobbies that must be fought. If the
- people are aware, the community is
- aware, all of this can be cleaned up in
- an instant.
- Yes.
- But what is sad is that it turns out it
- is not only those at the top who are
- unjust; those at the bottom also do
- injustice if they have the chance.
- Those at the bottom here
- have the chance to commit injustice. So
- how will our country rise, succeed,
- prosper, and live in an atmosphere full
- of justice if we are fond of committing
- injustice and enjoy unhealthy hobbies?
- Therefore, ladies and gentlemen,
- educate our children, not just from
- when they start school and become
- adults. But from a young age, set an
- example. Keep our children busy, guide
- them toward good and healthy hobbies.
- Monitor their social circles so they do
- not associate with bad people. But
- associating with good people and
- growing up in a good environment will
- also foster healthy hobbies and habits
- in their hearts. But if it is already
- high school or college and parents
- start panicking over their behavior,
- then, ladies and gentlemen, you are too
- late in this matter. They are already,
- what? Adults. Those habits have already
- taken root within them. So, let us
- begin the education of our children.
- Even from the moment we choose our
- partners.
- Hm. Choose a righteous woman. And women
- should also choose a righteous husband.
- Then, when together, always pray to
- Allah; when the child is born, start
- getting them used to a healthy
- environment. Listen to the verses of
- Allah, let the parents speak kindly,
- and the mother must truly work together
- with the husband to build goodness. No
- screaming or shouting. Anger or
- shouting heard by the child since they
- were small will automatically be
- imitated by the child from their
- parents. Instead, spread good values
- and make them a habit within our
- children's environment and our family.
- Wallahu a'lam (Allah knows best).
- Very well, Ustaz. One thing, Ustaz,
- that was missed. How, uh, if one has
- hurt their mother in the past and
- committed a major mistake against her?
- That
- means if a child realizes they have
- done wrong to their mother, they can go
- to their parent.
- If she is still alive, it is a blessing
- to go and ask for forgiveness from your
- parent, correct your mistakes, follow
- up your bad deeds with noble ones, and
- serve your mother as best as you can;
- the sad part is if your parent has
- already passed away.
- Then, when the parent has passed away,
- the child still has hope by treating
- those whom the mother loved with noble
- treatment. Redeem those mistakes with
- noble deeds. Perform righteous acts,
- hoping in Allah that they will serve as
- atonement for those mistakes. Then, if
- they have siblings, treat them with
- nobility.
- Treat them with nobility. Likewise with
- the parents 'siblings. Everyone who was
- loved by your parent, treat them well
- and nobly; those who need our help, we
- help them and respect them. This is a
- form of repentance that we hope will
- make the mother in the afterlife smile
- with joy, witnessing the child who once
- hurt her. After she passed away, it
- turns out the child realized their
- mistake. And we hope that Allah
- Subhanahu wa ta'ala bestows His mercy
- upon the mother. Who lived a life of
- hardship in this world, and may mercy
- also be granted to the child who
- repents back to Allah Subhanahu wa
- ta'ala. And I am sure every parent
- wants the best for their child. I met
- an elderly person, a mother, whose
- child was incredibly troublesome to her
- .
- To the point that the community, out of
- annoyance with this child, placed the
- child in the middle of the road so the
- child would get hit by a car. Hit by a
- car. But it turned out the mother was
- crying hysterically and rushed in a
- panic to save that child. A mother
- never harbors hatred toward her child.
- Even though sometimes she gets angry,
- sometimes she says harsh words, but
- after that, a mother's love will
- continue to overflow in her heart and
- she cannot hate the child she loves.
- Therefore, it is a great loss for a
- child who has both parents but does not
- appreciate them. Especially in their
- old age, so one should heed the command
- of Allah Ta'ala. And for someone who
- has parents, even if their good deeds
- are not many, and even if they have
- committed sins, by being devoted to
- their parents while seeking the
- pleasure of Allah, God willing, their
- sins will be forgiven by Allah, their
- status raised, and they will be
- gathered with those honored by Allah
- Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. Such is it,
- brothers and sisters who are blessed by
- Allah. Perhaps the previous answer was
- mixed with other things, but all of it
- is intended to remind us. And I am
- among those who lost their mother since
- childhood. So I truly feel the loss and
- wish that if she were still alive, we
- could treat her with nobility. But it
- seems Allah had another will. May Allah
- forgive our sins and mistakes. May
- Allah bestow His mercy upon us. May
- Allah make us noble human beings. Noble
- towards the servants of Allah Ta'ala.
- Good towards our family, our community,
- and even towards our environment. We do
- not cause destruction until we arrive
- before Allah. We arrive in a state of
- being people who are far from
- committing injustice. May Allah
- Subhanahu wa Ta'ala make our nation,
- this Indonesian nation where the
- majority are Muslims, truly noble
- people so they do not shame their
- religion, nor shame their prophet.
- Likewise for those who have not yet
- received guidance, may Allah grant them
- guidance so that we are united in the
- guidance of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala.
- Subhanakallahumma wabihamdik ashadu
- alla ilaha illa anta astagfiruka wa
- atubu ilaik wal afu minkum.
- Wasalamualaikum warahmatullahi
- wabarakatuh.
- Waalaikumsalam warahmatullahi
- wabarakatuh. Thus, brothers and sisters
- , that was the reflection under the
- shade of the Quran with our teacher
- Ustadz Husein Alatas regarding how we
- honor our mothers, brothers and sisters
- . Let us pray for our mothers, may they
- be granted health, goodness, and also
- nobility from Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala
- . For mothers who are still with us,
- still alive, and also for mothers who
- have left us first, may they be granted
- forgiveness and a spacious grave,
- Ustadz. God willing, they will be
- placed in the best of places as well.
- Amin.
- Amin. Amin ya Rabbal Alamin. And
- brothers and sisters, before we end, we
- convey sad news again that a death has
- occurred. Ustadz Muhammad Jazir ASP,
- who was the Council of the Jokokariyan
- Mosque in Yogyakarta. He passed away
- this morning at 5:58 AM, Monday, today,
- 2 Rajab 1447 Hijriah, coinciding with
- December 22, 2025. He also, in this
- last year, quite intensely visited
- Rasil to provide his advice in
- fostering the Silaturahim radio.
- MasyaAllah, may Allah forgive his sins
- and may Allah accept his righteous
- deeds and also his ongoing charity for
- how he educated, especially the mosque
- managers throughout Indonesia, to
- create a better mosque civilization.
- Brothers and sisters, we take our leave
- . Billahi taufik wal hidayah.
- Wasalamualaikum warahmatullahi
- wabarakatuh.
- Waalaikumsalam.
