- In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious
- , the Most Merciful. May the peace,
- mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon
- you.
- And may the peace, mercy, and blessings
- of Allah be upon you too.
- O Allah, bestow blessings upon our
- master Muhammad and upon the family of
- our master Muhammad. Praise be to Allah
- , we meet again today, Friday, the 14th
- of Jumada al-Akhir 1447 Hijri, or
- December 5th, 2025. We meet again for
- the program "Reflections Under the
- Shade of the Qur'an" with Ustaz Husin
- bin Hamid Alatas for our Q&A edition.
- Please, if you have any questions, feel
- free to send them to 0811999720. Also
- present here are Ondi and Algi. Peace
- be upon you, Ustaz.
- And peace, mercy, and blessings of
- Allah be upon you. Very well, let us
- begin this program by reciting
- al-Fatihah. I seek refuge in Allah from
- the accursed Satan. In the name of
- Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most
- Merciful. All praise is due to Allah,
- Lord of the worlds. The Most Gracious,
- the Most Merciful. Master of the Day of
- Judgment. It is You we worship and You
- we ask for help. Guide us to the
- straight path. The path of those upon
- whom You have bestowed favor. Not of
- those who have evoked [Your] anger or
- of those who are astray. Praise be to
- Allah, we have finished reciting
- al-Fatihah. May Allah make it easy for
- us to grasp the answers given by Ustaz
- Husin bin Hamid Alatas. Very well, the
- first question comes from Mr. Dadang in
- Cikampek. Greetings.
- Peace be upon you, Ustaz Husin.
- Ustaz, may the peace, mercy, and
- blessings of Allah be upon you. I am
- someone who finds it difficult to
- memorize. So, whenever I pray, I always
- use a prayer book. Is my prayer
- sufficient? Ustaz, just reading the
- question from Mr. Dadang in Cikampek.
- In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious
- , the Most Merciful. All praise is due
- to Allah, Lord of the worlds. Abundant,
- good, and blessed praise as our Lord
- loves. O Allah, bestow blessings upon
- Muhammad and the family of Muhammad.
- Our Lord, increase us in knowledge and
- wisdom. O Allah, grant us mercy from
- You and bestow upon us beneficial
- knowledge. Our Lord, increase us in
- knowledge and wisdom. Peace be upon you
- , O Messenger of Allah. Peace be upon
- us and upon the righteous servants of
- Allah. And may the peace, mercy, and
- blessings of Allah be upon you.
- Answering Mr. Dadang's question. Mr.
- Dadang, you are free in how you pray.
- Whether you pray without reading a text
- of the prayer or by reading from a book
- , provided that those prayers are
- entirely in accordance with Allah's
- provisions and guidance. We offer our
- prayers only to Allah Subhanahu wa
- ta'ala. Then, before we ask of Allah,
- we precede it with salawat (blessings
- upon the Prophet). As we know that the
- role of our Prophet is to bring
- guidance from Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala
- . Allah made him a guide, made him a
- light, and he has done such a great
- service for all of us believers. So,
- after we praise Allah, send blessings
- upon His Messenger, then we seek
- forgiveness, we petition to Allah.
- Whether it is a prayer we have
- memorized or one recorded in a book, we
- offer it entirely to Allah, and we do
- not associate partners with Allah
- Subhanahu wa ta'ala in our prayers. But
- the important thing in reciting a
- prayer is that we understand the prayer
- we are reading. We understand the
- prayer that
- we read. Because we are speaking to
- Allah. If we pray just by reading words
- we do not understand, it means it is
- not coming from our hearts. Now, if you
- understand some of the prayers from the
- Qur'an, understand their meanings, or
- prayers from our Prophet Muhammad
- sallallahu alaihi wasallam. Then that
- is good. Now, if you cannot speak
- Arabic, pray in Indonesian. Either
- outside of prayer or when we are in
- prostration during prayer after we
- recite "subhana rabbiyal a'la
- wabihamdih." When you are praying a
- voluntary prayer not in congregation,
- where you are not bound by
- congregational rules, you may perform a
- long prostration. After praising Allah,
- we make our supplications to Him. If
- necessary, shed tears with full focus,
- humility, and sincerity. Supplications
- like these are highly answered. So the
- purpose of this prayer is for us to
- convey all our needs and desires to
- Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, our Most
- Merciful and Compassionate Lord.
- Therefore, these prayers should come
- from our hearts, understood in
- accordance with our specific needs and
- desires. How rich are the believers
- even when they are destitute and poor.
- They beg from the One who is
- All-Wealthy. How strong are the
- believers even when they are weak. They
- seek refuge in Allah, the All-Powerful.
- So, in our prayers, we should truly
- feel that we are speaking and lifting
- our hopes to Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala,
- the Most Generous and Merciful, who
- hears our whispered prayers. And Allah
- knows best.
- Alright, next is from Mr. Dodi Suwondo.
- Peace be upon you, Ustaz Husein.
- Yes. Ustaz, is the door of ijtihad
- still open in this modern era, and who
- has the right to practice it? Hmm.
- In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious
- , the Most Merciful. The Quran is the
- holy book that Allah has made our guide
- for life. Allah established it as our
- guide. Allah established it as our
- direction. Allah established it as the
- Furqan, the separator between truth and
- falsehood. Allah established it as the
- light that illuminates our path through
- the darkness of life. Allah also
- established it as a cure, a healer, and
- a mercy. Therefore, based on what Allah
- Subhanahu wa ta'ala explains regarding
- the role of the Quran, its validity
- lasts for all time. It is not just for
- the time when our Prophet lived or when
- the companions lived, but the Quran's
- role as a life guide, a direction, a
- light, and a separator between truth
- and falsehood—as a standard and value
- system—is valid for all time. Now,
- the companions, in accordance with the
- challenges they faced, returned to the
- Quran. Then came the Tabi'in, and
- various events and incidents emerged.
- They also referred to the Quran, asking
- Allah about the rulings on new problems
- they faced which did not exist in
- previous times. The Quran provides
- guidance and signposts for us to answer
- the challenges of the times. Likewise,
- the Tabi 'al-Tabi'in and the great
- mujtahid imams came. They returned to
- the Quran and the Prophet's Sunnah to
- face the challenges of their eras.
- Therefore, ijtihad continues to take
- place in accordance with the challenges
- of the times being faced. Now, if
- ijtihad stopped during the era of the
- mujtahid imams, then what? It would
- mean that Islam would no longer be able
- to answer the challenges of the times
- that did not exist in those periods.
- Thus, new ijtihad is needed from our
- scholars who are truly capable and meet
- the requirements for ijtihad. Yes, not
- just mastering jurisprudence without
- evidence, but mastering every law by
- referring to its evidence, whether from
- the Book or the Sunnah of our Prophet
- Muhammad. peace and blessings be upon
- him and his family, and he is capable
- of developing his skills and abilities
- to answer the challenges of the times.
- He masters the language of the Quran
- well. He also understands the various
- disciplines of Quranic sciences. And he
- also understands the traditions of the
- Prophet related to the cases being
- faced. So, if a person is truly trained
- to do this, having the qualified
- ability to return to the Book of Allah
- and the traditions of His Messenger,
- God willing, he will easily find
- answers that are in accordance with the
- challenges of the times being faced.
- Because the Quran is the knowledge of
- Allah which encompasses the unseen, the
- present, as well as the past. There is
- nothing hidden from Allah. And Allah
- says, "Ma farratna fil kitabi min shay'
- ." We have not neglected anything in
- the Book. Everything that humans need,
- whether in the past, present, or future
- . The answers have actually been
- prepared by Allah in the Quran. It is
- up to the scholars to explore it, to
- research it, until they can provide
- answers that settle their hearts and
- offer solutions for the community. But
- if current scholars return to the
- jurisprudence and opinions of past
- scholars to face the challenges of the
- times, this is an inappropriate
- response.
- Hmm. Because what is being faced today
- is different from what was faced by
- Imam Shafi'i, Imam Malik, Imam Ahmad
- bin Hanbal, Abu Hanifah, and others.
- And they did not know the unseen. So
- let us not follow the words of some
- irrational people who say, "ma akala
- al-awwaluna lil-akhirin." The
- predecessors left nothing for those who
- are to come. This is a false statement.
- If the holy Quran answers all the
- challenges of the times, it is true.
- And Allah will deploy people who are
- truly what? God-fearing, people who are
- deep in their knowledge to answer the
- challenges of the times by referring to
- the Quran and Sunnah. Because the Quran
- is a standard of life that applies
- throughout all time. So if people say
- we are not justified in performing
- ijtihad, and we are obligated to return
- to the opinions of scholars in the past
- .
- Like those who hold to this opinion
- among the followers of the salaf, this
- is a disaster for the community.
- And it freezes the role of the Quran in
- the true sense. Whereas the Quran is a
- pillar of our faith.
- Yeah. So every challenge of the times
- has its answer. From where? It is
- impossible for us to return to past
- scholars who did not witness them. For
- example, if someone asks regarding
- cloning, regarding transplantation,
- of organs, and also regarding what?
- Let's say, blood transfusion. Is it
- possible for us to answer from the
- jurisprudence of past scholars? It is
- impossible. Because these cases did not
- exist for the scholars of the past. So
- by referring to the Quran and the
- Sunnah of the Prophet, from the
- guidelines that Allah Subhanahu wa
- Ta'ala has provided, scholars answer
- the challenges of the times. Therefore,
- the validity of the Quran never expires
- . Unlike the jurisprudence of scholars,
- its validity might expire with their
- passing. Heh.
- Therefore, a mujtahid who addresses the
- challenges of this era is a living
- mujtahid. Now, this living mujtahid
- observes whether the challenges of the
- times they face have already been
- addressed by scholars of the past. They
- take a look. And if they find several
- answers, they choose the one most
- consistent with the guidance of the
- Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet,
- truly safeguarding the safety and
- well-being of the Ummah. Because Allah
- Subhanahu wa ta'ala, through His
- religion, wishes to provide ease and a
- more beautiful path for them.
- Yuriidullahu bikumul yusra wa la
- yuriidu bikumul 'usr (Allah intends for
- you ease and does not intend for you
- hardship). Likewise, He has not placed
- upon you in the religion any difficulty
- . So, to the gentleman who asked,
- ijtihad cannot possibly be stopped. If
- he stops ijtihad, it means he stops the
- teachings of Islam,
- which would then only be capable of
- answering the challenges of the past.
- It is no wonder, then, that the Muslim
- community today is left behind or
- abandoned and has no role, except
- perhaps within the mosque speaking only
- about rituals. Then what is it that
- they are unable to answer? They call
- things bid'ah (innovation) because they
- did not exist in the time of the salaf
- (predecessors). This means what they
- follow is no longer Allah, not His
- Messenger, not His Holy Book, but what
- they worship is the salaf.
- Whoever those salaf may be, the salaf
- are people who preceded us, who
- answered the challenges of their own
- times. They are responsible for what
- they did. H.
- But to answer the challenges of this
- era, a mujtahid must emerge who
- addresses these challenges according to
- the guidance of Allah and the Sunnah of
- His Prophet. Wallahu a'lam (Allah knows
- best).
- Alright, next from Mr. Yahya in Serang,
- Banten. Assalamualaikum, Husin. Ustaz,
- is the task of revelation to correct
- reason, or is the task of reason to
- interpret revelation? From Mr. Yahya in
- Serang, Banten.
- Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. When Allah
- Subhanahu wa ta'ala sent down our
- forefather and grandmother, Allah
- reminded them, and also reminded their
- descendants. Fa imma ya'tiyannakum
- minni hudan faman tabi'a hudaya fala
- yawillu wala yashqa (Then if there
- comes to you guidance from Me, whoever
- follows My guidance will neither go
- astray nor suffer). If My guidance
- reaches you, then whoever follows My
- guidance will not be lost and will not
- be miserable. Wa man a'rada fa inna
- lahu ma'ishatan danka (And whoever
- turns away from My remembrance-indeed,
- he will have a depressed life). Whoever
- turns away and does not heed, does not
- care about the lessons and warnings I
- provide, will live in distress, in a
- narrowness that will suffocate them. Wa
- nahsyuruhu yaumal qiyamati a'ma. And We
- will gather them on the Day of
- Resurrection blind. Qala rabbi lima
- hasyartani a'ma wa qad kuntu bashira.
- He says, "My Lord, why have You
- gathered me blind, while I used to be
- able to see?" Answered by Allah,
- kadzalika atatka ayatina fanasitaha.
- That is your recompense. Before, when
- Our verses came to you, you forgot them
- . Now, you are also among those who are
- forgotten. Likewise, Allah explains,
- Allahu anzala al-kitaba bil-haqqi
- wal-mizan. Allah who sent down the Book
- with the truth. Yes, meaning the
- absolute truth. Wal-mizan, also
- functioning as a balance and the
- highest standard. Allah who placed us
- on this earth. As khalifah (stewards),
- it is impossible for Allah to let them
- live without guidance. If they do not
- receive guidance from Allah, then their
- deviations and incorrect behavior
- cannot be blamed, because they have not
- yet received guidance and warnings from
- Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. So Allah
- sent down His holy book and the sunnah
- of His Messenger, yes. Uh, Allah
- Subhanahu wa ta'ala sent down His book.
- Then He made His Messenger the teacher
- who practices the contents of the
- Qur'an and explains it to them. Not
- just as a lesson that we can take or
- leave, but as the true guide for life
- and the highest standard, where we
- return all the values of our lives to
- the noble Qur'an and refer to the
- sunnahs of our Prophet Muhammad
- sallallahu alaihi wasallam that are in
- harmony and alignment with the Qur'an.
- Because whatever is not in harmony or
- alignment with the Qur'an, we can be
- sure that it is not the sunnah of the
- Messenger, but an infiltration
- attempting to confuse our understanding
- of the religion. Now, the question is,
- does the Qur'an function to correct the
- intellect? Does the intellect function
- as what? As an interpreter that
- interprets the Qur'an. Allah Subhanahu
- wa ta'ala has made us His vicegerents (
- khalifah), Mas Krishna. Granting us
- intellect. With the intellect that
- Allah has given to humans. Humans are
- responsible
- for all their attitudes, actions, and
- speech. If a human does not possess
- intellect or loses their intellect,
- they no longer function as a mukallaf (
- accountable person) or a khalifah.
- Therefore, Allah's law does not apply
- to those who are not sane. Yes, the law
- is also suspended for those in a coma
- until they awaken. Or a person who is
- asleep, say they sleep in so late that
- they unknowingly miss the Fajr prayer.
- When they are asleep, they are not a
- mukallaf; once they wake up from their
- sleep, at that moment they are
- obligated to perform the prayer they
- missed. Because of what? Because they
- were asleep. Even though it is already,
- yes, let's say even though it is past
- the dawn time, the moment they remember
- , they perform wudu and pray at that
- time.
- Because of what? Because when they were
- asleep, yes, at that time their status
- was not in a state of possessing
- intellect. Therefore, this role of
- intellect determines whether a person
- is a mukallaf or not, or responsible or
- not responsible. So Allah Subhanahu wa
- ta'ala speaks to humans according to
- the intellect and knowledge that Allah
- has given them. Allah also speaks to
- them according to what? According to
- their ability to absorb guidance and
- instruction. Allah will not ask them
- about what they do not know. Therefore,
- if a person unintentionally, out of
- ignorance even after having learned,
- makes a mistake, they are forgiven by
- Allah. "Tujaawiza an ummatii al-khat'a
- ..."(forgiven from my ummah are those
- who make a mistake), or they forget, or
- they are forced into an act against
- their will. But, actions performed
- based on understanding, choice without
- any coercion, that is what will later
- be accounted for before Allah. So,
- first of all, we have explained
- previously that revelation is the
- highest standard of values. It is
- guidance that comes from Allah, not
- from humans. He is also the light that
- illuminates the darkness of our lives.
- He is also a mercy that God has
- bestowed upon us so that we humans do
- not become guinea pigs. Becoming guinea
- pigs for some other humans. But
- directly
- all the issues of our lives are
- illuminated by the guidance of Allah
- Subhanahu wa ta'ala regarding our
- individual lives, our social lives.
- Likewise regarding our economic life,
- regarding rights, parents' rights,
- children's rights, wives 'rights,
- husbands' rights. There is not a single
- issue in our lives that has not been
- explained by Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala
- in the Qur'an and elaborated upon,
- detailed by our Prophet, and also
- through the life practices of our
- Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa
- alihi wasallam. Then we ask, what is
- the role of reason?
- What is the role
- of reason? I will give a simple analogy
- for Mr. Yahya.
- Mr. Yahya, if someone, Mas Krishna, has
- healthy eyeballs. Everything is healthy
- and sound, but if they are in darkness,
- can they see?
- No.
- With the presence of light
- Yeah.
- our healthy eyeballs can see. It is the
- same with reason. Reason on its own is
- full of limitations. It is impossible
- for us to be able to know our God well
- through our reason alone. We are
- certain there is a creator who created
- the universe. But to know Him, His
- attributes, and His names without
- introduction from Allah is impossible.
- And it is not possible for us through
- reason to know what Allah desires from
- us as His servants. placed on earth as
- His caliphs. Therefore, Allah
- intervenes to explain to us where we
- came from, then where we will go, then
- why we are placed in this worldly life?
- And how we can live correctly in
- accordance with what is desired by
- Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. Everything
- is informed by Allah in the Qur'an.
- Allah explains where we came from.
- Allah also explains Himself as the
- creator with no partners unto Him.
- Allah also explains us as His caliphs
- on earth, responsible for our choices.
- Then Allah provides guidance on how to
- live properly and also explains the
- final day when we are gathered,
- resurrected, and held to account by
- Allah. Allah explains the place for
- believers who obey Allah is in paradise
- , and those who are defiant and
- disobedient are in the torment of His
- hellfire. All that with absolute
- justice. It is impossible at all for
- our reason to be able to understand
- that. Likewise, with just the reason
- that Allah has given us, we cannot
- ensure whether what we are doing is
- right or not.
- H
- what is the proof? Differences of
- opinion occur among humans in
- determining the truth.
- Hm.
- So Allah sent down the true guidance.
- The word "al-haqq" means that which is
- certainly the truth. the truth which is
- certain, which comes from your Lord.
- So do not be among those who are
- doubtful and hesitant. Therefore, in
- the midst of differences of opinion,
- differences also in what? Differences
- in ways of life, where among humans,
- each believes in their own truth. The
- light of Allah arrives to provide
- illumination. This is the true way of
- life. This is the guidance that comes
- from your Creator, explaining that in
- the hereafter, you will be resurrected
- by Allah and gathered to be held
- accountable. When you need something,
- come to Allah; pray to Him. Allah has
- provided His names, which are so
- beautiful.
- When you are afraid of something, take
- refuge in Allah. Therefore, Suratul
- Fatihah is the essence of the Qur'an.
- If a person understands it correctly,
- what kind of life will they truly have?
- Living in peace on the path and
- guidance of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala.
- So, Mas Krishna, what is the intellect
- (akal)? It is the greatest gift from
- Allah to mankind. Because once our
- intellect is taken away, even if we are
- handsome, beautiful, or possess all
- sorts of advantages, we lose the
- meaning of our humanity. But the
- intellect is a gift from Allah
- Subhanahu wa ta'ala that Allah has
- bestowed upon us. With the intellect,
- we are held accountable before Allah
- Subhanahu wa ta'ala. Therefore, in a
- narration from the Ahlul Bait, "ma
- khalaqallahu saaian afdola minal aqli."
- Allah did not create anything more
- noble than the intellect. Now, what I
- mean by intellect is not just "trickery
- " or whims. Yeah.
- The intellect here is a gift from Allah
- Subhanahu wa ta'ala that makes humans
- worthy of being addressed by Allah and
- responsible for their lives. Now, if
- the human soul is governed by the
- intellect, then life will surely be
- righteous. But if this human soul is
- governed by its desires and its
- intellect is imprisoned, then it will
- become more terrifying than a wild
- beast. So in understanding the Qur'an,
- Bapak Yahya, Allah has actually
- provided a beautiful guidance and
- method for us. Which is not followed
- enough by most people. So, the
- intellect receives light and
- illumination from the Qur'an. It is not
- meant to force the Qur'an to follow the
- intellect. That is a big mistake.
- Instead, the intellect is like an eye
- that receives light. With the presence
- of light, the eye can distinguish
- between flat roads, holes, oceans,
- hills, and mountains. Yeah.
- Now, the intellect is the same. The
- intellect does not control the Qur'an,
- but the intellect is like an eye
- illuminated by light so that it can see
- . Likewise, the revelation of Allah
- Subhanahu wa ta'ala serves as the light
- illuminating the intellect, showing the
- way. Regarding the method of
- interpreting the Qur'an, Allah has
- explained to us that we should not
- interpret the Qur'an in fragments or
- isolation,
- but rather interpret the Qur'an by
- connecting the related verses. Then we
- draw a conclusion in what way? In a
- comprehensive way, not by interpreting
- verses piece by piece. Yeah.
- Therefore, scholars of Tafsir,
- including the Usulis and the
- researchers, agree that "Al-Qur'an
- yufassir ba'duhu ba'd," the Qur'an
- interprets itself.
- For example, Mas Krishna,
- when we talk about destiny (takdir)
- or about divine decree (qada),
- we find that the scholars differ.
- Hm.
- There are the Mu'tazila, the Ash'ari,
- and other groups as well. Let's say the
- Jabariya or the Salafi; their
- interpretations differ. Even though
- this is a very important issue. Why?
- They differ in interpreting the meaning
- of destiny, or qadar and qada, because
- they do not return to the Quran, which
- explains the intent of those terms. If
- we gather the verses that contain the
- word "qadar," we understand that it
- explains the laws and rules that govern
- the life of the entire universe with
- full wisdom. Such as regulating our
- earth, rotating on its axis, orbiting
- the sun along with its planets, and the
- sun along with all its planets orbiting
- the center of its galaxy. That is
- explained clearly in Surah Yasin. And
- the sun runs its course. Towards its
- destination. So the sun is "destined"
- —meaning determined by a perfect law
- —
- along with all its planets, to orbit
- the center of its galaxy. Just as the
- earth also orbits what? It orbits the
- sun. Allah explains, "Everything
- created by Allah has a perfect measure
- and size.""Indeed, We have created
- everything with qadar." Indeed,
- everything We have created with a
- measure and size. Allah also reminds us
- to glorify Him so that we do not
- misunderstand the decrees of Allah
- Subhanahu wa taala which are so perfect
- . In the name of Allah, the Most
- Gracious, the Most Merciful. Glorify
- the name of your Lord, the Most High.
- Who created and perfected His creation
- with complete balance. Then Allah
- emphasizes, "And who has ordained and
- guided." And He who established the
- measure, the rules of law for all His
- creations. And guided. Then Allah gives
- us guidance to understand it. Various
- scientific disciplines were born,
- derived from these natural laws
- established by Allah Subhanahu wa taala
- . Physics, biology, geology, and
- astronomy were born, all derived from
- the natural laws established by Allah
- Subhanahu wa taala. So, if we return
- the word "takdir"(destiny) to the Quran
- , it does not explain to us that human
- deeds are determined by Allah without
- any choice. This is the Jabariyah
- ideology, which is far from the Quran.
- But destiny explains to us that Allah
- has established and created everything
- with rules that are truly perfect. Now,
- it remains for us to follow Allah's
- rules;
- if we do,
- we will progress; if we violate Allah's
- rules, we will perish. Therefore, when
- people ask, "Mas Krishna, the events
- happening in North Sumatra, whether in
- Aceh, Medan, or West Sumatra in Padang,
- is that destiny?" The answer is no.
- That is a violation of Allah's destiny.
- Allah created our earth with full
- balance.
- He created trees in the middle of
- forests to absorb water to protect
- against landslides and floods. Also to
- keep our earth's temperature from what?
- From heating up beyond its limits. But
- human hands destroy Allah's destiny,
- cutting down forests due to greed and
- avarice. Ultimately causing our soil to
- become fragile. The soil also no longer
- absorbs water as a reserve.
- The earth's temperature rises, and
- natural disasters occur. Then Allah is
- blamed for His destiny.
- This is a violation of the destiny of
- Allah Subhanahu wa taala. So, this is
- the picture, Mr. Yahya. If we want to
- understand a term in the Quran, we
- should not interpret it separately from
- the others.
- But
- we must gather the verses that speak
- about destiny.
- Then we can conclude that the use of
- the word "destiny" in the Qur'an is
- different from what is intended by the
- Jabariyah school.
- Hm. If the Muslim community returned to
- the Qur'an and interpreted the Qur'an
- with the Qur'an, such contradictions as
- we see today would not happen. So, as
- Allah reminds us in the surah, in which
- surah? In Surah Al-Hijr. "Qul inni anan
- nadhirul mubin." Say, O Messenger, "
- Indeed, I am a clear warner.""Kama
- anzalna 'alal muqtasimin," as We have
- sent down upon the dividers. "
- Muqtasimin" in Arabic means those who
- divide. "Alladhina ja'alul qur'ana'
- idhin." Meaning those who divide the
- Qur'an and separate its verses instead
- of interpreting them as a single unity.
- "Fawabbika nas'alannahum ajma'in." So
- by your Lord, by your Lord, We will
- surely question them all. "Amma kanu
- ya'malun," about what they used to do.
- Because they interpret the Qur'an
- separately, not as a single unity.
- Ultimately, it creates contradictory
- understandings. So many scholars who
- interpret the Qur'an do not follow the
- method of interpretation taught by
- Allah. Now, if we interpret verses with
- other verses, for example, when we ask,
- "Who are the people referred to as the
- pious?"
- Hm.
- What is piety (taqwa)? The Qur'an
- explains it in Surah Al-Baqarah twice.
- Even at the beginning of Surah
- Al-Baqarah, when Allah says, "A
- guidance for the pious," Allah explains
- , "those who believe in the unseen,"
- and so on. Likewise, when Allah
- Subhanahu wa ta'ala explains the true
- meaning of righteousness (al-birr).
- Allah mentions the criteria: "Laisal
- birra wujuhakum." Until Allah closes
- the verse with, "They are the pious."
- Likewise in Surah Ali 'Imran. Who? And
- so on. So if we interpret taqwa or the
- pious without referring to the Qur'an,
- the interpretation ends up being
- confused.
- Hm.
- We usually interpret taqwa as someone
- who performs commands and avoids
- prohibitions.
- Let's interpret it according to the
- Qur'an's explanation so it is more
- detailed, so people understand the
- intent of the Qur'an. Likewise, the
- words for denial or disbelief (kufr) in
- the Qur'an are used for those who have
- known the truth and then denied it.
- Hm.
- Likewise, faith (iman) is explained in
- the Qur'an; what is the meaning of
- faith? Not just believing, not just
- being convinced, but belief and
- conviction accompanied by what? By.
- Actions that are in accordance with
- their convictions. Like Allah's word: "
- The believers are only those who have
- believed in Allah and His Messenger and
- then have not doubted but strive with
- their properties and their lives in the
- cause of Allah." Likewise, through
- Allah's call, "O you who have believed.
- " As in Surah Al-Hujurat, every time
- Allah calls those who believe, Allah
- explains the guidance and His commands,
- which are the criteria for those who
- believe. But if we go outside the
- Qur'an, interpret the Qur'an separately
- from what? The verses that explain
- faith, it eventually creates an
- understanding that is truly imperfect.
- So, Mr. Yahya, the Qur'an or revelation
- is the highest standard of values. When
- we face problems, as the Messenger
- commanded, we return to the Qur'an.
- Then we return to His Messenger;
- naturally, we examine the narrations
- that come from the Messenger regarding
- those issues. And we do not interpret
- the Sunnah separately from the Qur'an,
- but keep it integrated within the
- Qur'an. Whatever is in harmony, in line
- , and in rhythm, we accept; what is not
- , we reject because we are certain the
- Prophet could never oppose the Quran.
- Now, reason is a tool Allah has given
- us to understand the truth explained by
- Allah. Just as the eye sees once it
- receives light, it will not see in
- darkness. So, the existence of this
- revelation is vital, and it is what? It
- is Allah's proof in the hereafter later
- on. And humans could argue to Allah, "
- You never gave us any guidance or
- warnings at all."
- Therefore, the speech of those with
- insight belongs to Allah.
- If he believes, he is among those with
- insight for Allah. But if he acts
- insolently before the Quran. Even
- arrogantly he says, "Those who claim
- the occurrence of environmental damage
- is due to what? Due to
- human behavior.
- Human behavior. He says this is a
- stupid view that shows no understanding
- .
- Innalillahi." And he says that as a
- liberal Muslim, in his view, we hold
- the position—according to him—that
- if there are irrational verses of the
- Quran they are all temporary in nature.
- When needed, we use them; when not
- needed, we abandon them. So he assumes
- he is someone, yes, who judges the
- Quran, who judges Allah. Just as easily
- as he calls humans stupid, he assumes
- his God is the same.
- Hm.
- This is truly a person blinded by his
- love for the world; he is willing to
- say to those who do not like Allah's
- verses and His guidance at all, "We
- will be tolerant with you." What fits
- from the Quranic verses, we hold onto.
- What is disadvantageous, we cast aside.
- It is truly a great catastrophe for
- Nahdlatul Ulama, which is an
- organization founded by noble fighters.
- It turns out there are people like this
- . Waliyadubillah (May Allah protect us)
- . May Allah save the Ummah from people
- like this. And if he does not change at
- all and repent to Allah, we pray to
- Allah to show His power and His truth
- to all mankind over the arrogance of
- such a person. And I see, wali
- iyadubillah, this person seems
- difficult to receive guidance
- because he is arrogant and his attitude
- resembles that of Iblis. who spoke
- before Allah even though he knew Allah
- was his Creator. When asked, "Why do
- you refuse to prostrate before Adam?"
- He said, "I am better than him.
- You created me from fire and You
- created him from clay." If Adam and Eve
- sinned, their sin was before their weak
- desires, and once they realized, they
- repented. But if one is brave enough to
- commit the sin of arrogance against
- their Lord, then such a person cannot
- be held to or trusted. I intentionally
- act or speak firmly on this matter to
- remind the Ummah that this is not a
- game. Speaking as if before Allah is
- not a game.
- If you want to be a liberal, go ahead.
- But saying "liberal Muslim" does not
- exist. A Muslim is someone who is
- obedient, submissive, surrenders to
- Allah, and accepts what comes from
- Allah. But a liberal person lives
- freely in their own way. They follow
- whatever suits their desires, abandon
- what doesn't, and easily view others as
- stupid for not being like them.
- May Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala show His
- power and a lesson to those who are
- defiant and arrogant. May Allah protect
- us from this. Alright, this next one is
- from Mr. Bambang in Jakarta. As-salamu
- alaykum.
- Wa alaykumu s-salam.
- Ustaz, a friend apostatized after
- watching a YouTube video that says
- Muslims consider Jesus to be a Muslim
- because he was circumcised and did not
- eat pork. Whereas that pastor said
- Jesus was also baptized in the Jordan
- River. Please share your response,
- Ustaz.
- In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious
- , the Most Merciful. Our Lord, increase
- us in knowledge and join us with the
- righteous. People can just speak as
- they please. They speak whatever they
- like. Just as many among Muslims speak
- far from the guidance of Allah.
- Fantasizing. And then also making grand
- promises. Yes, that people don't need
- to do good deeds. As long as people
- love the Messenger and hold the
- Prophet's Birthday celebration, the
- Messenger will intercede for them.
- Likewise, those who claim to be
- followers of Jesus or followers of the
- Messiah, peace be upon him. Some of
- them say, "Whatever evil, deeds, or
- sins we commit, as long as we believe,
- Jesus is our savior, Jesus will save us
- ." There is a similarity between those
- people and the Muslims who feel they
- don't need to do good deeds, even if
- they commit evil, engage in corruption,
- or perform immoral acts, as long as
- they love the Prophet and celebrate his
- birthday, they will be saved. These are
- all just empty wishes. If religious
- guidance is like this, then human life
- will experience ruin. But Allah firmly
- states, "As for him whose scales are
- heavy [with good deeds], he will be in
- a pleasant life." Those whose scales of
- deeds are heavy with faith and
- righteous actions will live a life full
- of satisfaction. But on the contrary, "
- And as for him whose scales are light,
- his refuge will be Hawiyah." Those
- whose scales are empty, filled with
- evil, and far from righteous deeds,
- their place of return is Hawiyah. "And
- what will make you know what it is?" Do
- you know what is called Hawiyah? "A
- blazing fire." A raging fire of immense
- heat. This is Allah's explanation. So
- whoever does an atom's weight of good
- will see it, and whoever does an atom's
- weight of evil will see it. Allah also
- confirms that those who will be saved
- in the hereafter are those who believe
- and do righteous deeds. "Indeed, those
- who have believed and done righteous
- deeds...""...they are the best of
- creatures."
- While conversely, "Indeed, they who
- disbelieved among the People of the
- Scripture and the polytheists will be
- in the fire of Hell, abiding eternally
- therein. Those are the worst of
- creatures." So the best of humans
- according to Allah are those who
- believe and do righteous deeds, and the
- worst of humans are those who deny
- Allah their Creator and associate
- partners with Him, which is clearly
- stated in the Quran. So, that pastor
- who said that Jesus is considered by
- Muslims to be a Muslim because he was
- circumcised and did not eat pork. Then
- he said, "Jesus was baptized in the
- Jordan River." We want to know, where
- is the data from? Hmm.
- Authentic data, that is. We ask, don't
- you believe that before Jesus, there
- were prophets and messengers sent by
- Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala? Then where
- do these oddities, deviations, and
- irregularities come from? How could
- Jesus become the Son of God? Whereas we
- know that beforehand, there were
- prophets, a chain of prophethood. Yes.
- Then Jesus as the Son of God, and
- afterwards it jumps to our Prophet
- Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam as
- a prophet and messenger again.
- What is the basis for this? In Islam,
- faith explains to us that Allah
- Subhanahu wa ta'ala is the Creator, He
- is also the Sustainer, the One who
- controls, and He is also the One who
- will eventually cause us to pass away
- and end our worldly life. Then Allah
- will resurrect us again. In the
- Trimurti belief, what do they believe?
- Hindus believe that the creator is who?
- Brahma. The sustainer is Vishnu. While
- Shiva is the destroyer, tasked with
- destroying, let's say, a society, a
- people, or a region because of the sins
- committed by humans. In Islam, it is
- not like that. Allah Subhanahu wa
- ta'ala explains clearly that the entire
- universe, the heavens, and the earth
- are the creation of Allah; He maintains
- and regulates them. Angels will not do
- anything without the permission of
- Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. So, angels
- are not minor deities. Angels are
- servants who obey Allah and carry out
- Allah's commands. Even a single
- raindrop does not fall except by
- Allah's permission. Angels will not
- descend to carry out something except
- by the command of Allah Subhanahu wa
- ta'ala. But among those who believe
- that God is divided into three persons.
- First, the Father in heaven, then the
- Son who descended to earth on the
- grounds of redeeming the sins of
- humanity. Then the Holy Spirit. In
- Islam, it is clear that the Holy Spirit
- is a holy angel. Um
- who was assigned by Allah to support
- the Messiah and also support Maryam
- alaihialatu wasalam, who brought the
- good news that she would give birth to
- a child and provided support to her
- when the Messiah was still a child to
- answer those who accused her of what?
- As a woman who committed a shameful act
- . The Quran clears her name. So if they
- say as they please that Jesus is what?
- Is someone who was also baptized. I ask
- , who baptized him? Then if we open the
- Gospel that exists today, there is not
- a single indication stating what? That
- Jesus is the Son of God.
- So if we talk about this only based on
- claims without evidence, without proof,
- then that is something incorrect. We
- ask, why is the Gospel divided into
- four? If it is indeed a holy book
- received by the Messiah alaihialatu
- wasalam, it should be one book. But why
- are the versions different?
- Isn't that extremely strange? This is a
- very strange thing. Therefore, we
- invite our brothers and sisters of the
- Christian faith, whether Catholic,
- Protestant, or others. Let us seek the
- truth for our own salvation. In Islam,
- we are not taught or commanded to force
- people to believe, but we are invited
- to think. And Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala
- values those who seek the truth. Not
- those who follow traditions and their
- own desires. But let us open ourselves
- to listen to the truth that comes from
- Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala in His holy
- book. Read Surah Al-Imran, which
- explains Maryam and her mother who
- vowed themselves to Allah. Then the
- birth of Jesus from a noble, holy woman
- , and how the Messiah, in his life's
- journey, invited humans to worship
- Allah and not associate anything with
- Him. And Jesus, or the Messiah, he also
- worshipped Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala.
- And uniquely, from the time of Prophet
- Noah until the last prophet, all
- invited people to worship Allah and not
- associate anything with Him. Now, if
- someone apostatizes because they
- listened to the statement from this
- pastor, that is their choice. If they
- can accept lies as what? As their
- consumption, then this kind of person
- is someone who does not deserve to be
- respected at all. Therefore, you can
- ask GPT about the truth of your words.
- GPT, which is not a creature created
- directly by Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala,
- although produced and generated by
- humans created by Allah, turns out to
- be able to testify honestly and
- correctly. But these pastors, most of
- them live...Live from where? From their
- congregations. If their congregations
- did not support them at all, where
- would they live from?
- The same applies to scholars who live
- from their congregations. Sometimes, to
- please their congregations, they betray
- Allah and His Messenger. Instead of
- conveying the truth, they actually
- bully and lie to their congregations so
- that the congregations remain loyal to
- them. Whereas those who convey the
- mission of the prophets and their
- successors are those who convey Allah's
- mandate without expecting any reward
- from them. Say: "I ask of you no reward
- for this, it is but a reminder for all
- the worlds." Thus, brothers and sisters
- who are blessed by Allah Subhanahu wa
- ta'ala. So, we hear about various cases
- like this, we do not need to be
- surprised. People who want to, let's
- say, accept these blind doctrines,
- please go ahead. But the person who
- seeks the truth, who expects the
- pleasure of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala,
- they will not waver at all. Even when
- faced with various kinds of doubts, a
- heart that believes in Allah based on
- truth will never doubt, even if they
- are alone. Even if they are all alone,
- they will not be shaken by the doubts
- that circulate and spread. Because what
- they yearn for is not this world, but
- the true truth. Therefore, let us
- purify our intentions, fully expecting
- the pleasure of Allah. Seeking the
- truth without arrogance, without
- fanaticism, God willing, we will find
- the true truth. As an example for those
- who ask or for what? For the pastor
- mentioned earlier or for those who
- apostatized, let us shift, please read
- Jeffrey Lang's book titled "Struggling
- to Surrender." He is a professor
- of mathematics,
- mathematics at the University of Kansas
- . You can read about his experience of
- entering Islam. And many others,
- including Prof. Maurice Bucaille.
- who conducted research on the mummy of
- Pharaoh, discovered factual truths, and
- also performed comparative studies
- among the existing holy scriptures.
- Hopefully, this becomes what? It
- becomes a lesson for us all. And in our
- preaching here at Rasil, we do not
- indoctrinate people at all. Revelation
- is not doctrine.
- Yes.
- Revelation is light that comes from
- Allah, our Creator.
- Revelation is a light that comes from
- Allah, not a doctrine. Doctrine
- originates from humans. We do not
- invite people to accept blind doctrine,
- but rather invite them to enter the
- light of Allah, His guidance, and His
- path. May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala
- guide us to live a better life. Keeping
- our steps on the path that Allah
- Subhanahu wa Ta'ala is pleased with.
- Gathering us with His messenger, his
- family, and his noble companions, and
- may Allah save us from the torment and
- punishment in the hereafter.
- Subhanakallahumma wabihamdik, ashadu
- alla ilaha illa anta, astaghfiruka wa
- atubu ilaik. I apologize to you all.
