- Peace be upon you, and the mercy of
- Allah and His blessings. All praise is
- due to Allah; we praise Him, seek His
- help, and ask for His forgiveness. We
- seek refuge in Allah from the evils of
- our own selves and the wickedness of
- our deeds. Whoever Allah guides, none
- can lead astray, and whoever He leads
- astray, none can guide. I bear witness
- that there is no god but Allah alone,
- with no partner, and I bear witness
- that Muhammad is His servant and
- messenger. What Allah wills happens,
- and what He does not will, does not
- happen. There is no power and no
- strength except with Allah, the Most
- High, the Almighty. Furthermore.
- Brothers and sisters, viewers of
- Silaturahim TV. And listeners of
- Silaturahim Radio who are dearly loved
- by Allah, the Glorified and Exalted.
- Alhamdulillah, tonight we are able to
- meet again to continue our study, which
- is the literal translation of the Quran
- . In our previous meeting, last Friday
- night, we reached verse 77. Of Surah
- Ali Imran. God willing, tonight until
- just before Isha, we will continue with
- the following verses. For that, let us
- begin our study by reading the
- supplication for seeking knowledge
- together. In the name of Allah, the
- Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. O
- Lord, increase me in knowledge. O Allah
- , make me benefit from what You have
- taught me, teach me what benefits me,
- and provide me with knowledge that
- benefits me. Amen. We start from verse
- 78. I seek refuge in Allah from the
- accursed Satan. In the name of Allah,
- the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
- And indeed, among them is a group. They
- twist their tongues. With the Book, so
- that you think it is from the Book. So
- that you think it is from the Book,
- while it is not from the Book. And they
- say. It is from Allah. While it is not
- from Allah. And they say. A lie against
- Allah. That is the wording of this
- verse. Next, the literal meaning is. Wa
- inna: and indeed, minhum: among them.
- The meaning is the People of the Book.
- The "min"(from) here is for partitive
- purposes. To indicate the meaning of "a
- portion". La fariqon. Indeed, there is
- a group. Or a group larger than a "
- thaifah"(sect). "Fariqon" means group.
- "Thaifah" also means group, only "
- fariqon" is larger. Yalwuna (they twist
- ). Alsinatahum (their tongues). Bil
- kitabi (with the Book), meaning like
- reciting the Book. Litahsabuhu (so that
- you think it or suspect it). Minal
- kitabi (is from the Book). Wama (and it
- is not) hua (it). Minal kitabi (from or
- a part of the Book). Yaquuluna (and
- they say), those People of the Book,
- hua (it). Minillahi (is from the side
- of Allah). Wama (and it is not) hua (it
- ) minillahi (from the side of Allah).
- Waquuluna (and they say) alallahi (
- against Allah) alkadiba (a lie). Wah (
- and) they. Ya. (They) know. That is the
- literal meaning. As for the overall
- meaning of verse 78 of Surah Ali Imran,
- it is: and indeed, among them. There is
- certainly a group who twist their
- tongues. Reading the Book, meaning the
- Torah. So that you think. What they are
- reading. Is part of the Book. Whereas
- it is not from the Book. And they say
- it is from Allah. Whereas it is not
- from Allah. They say something false.
- Against Allah. Even though they know
- that it is a lie. This is one of the
- evils of the Jewish priests or the
- scholars of the People of the Book, the
- Jews and the Christians, who read the
- Torah or the Gospel by twisting their
- tongues. By. Pulling. The sound or
- content of those verses suits their own
- desires. So the Muslim community thinks
- it's the scripture, even though what is
- being read is just a part of it. Even
- though it is not, they continue to say
- that what they read is from Allah, when
- it is not. They lie in the name of
- Allah, and they know that they are
- lying. This is the wickedness of the
- Jewish and Christian priests. Should we
- follow people like this? Certainly not.
- Now, moving on to verse 79. Ma kaana
- libasyarin ay yutiahullahul kitaba wal
- hukma wan nubuwah and prophethood tumma
- yaquula linasi kunu ibad Allahi be
- slaves min dunillahi but kunu rabbaniin
- but instead be godly people tuallimunal
- kitaba wabima kuntum tadrusun. Now,
- Allah then explains what was done by
- Prophet Muhammad. Peace and blessings
- be upon him and his family. Ma kana, it
- is not libasyarin, for a human being
- ayyutiahu that Allah gives him the Book
- , meaning revelation, and wisdom or law
- , and prophethood. Tumma, then, yaakula
- , he says, linasi to the people, kunu.
- Become, you all, ibada My servants, min
- dunillahi, instead of Allah. Walakin,
- but, kunu. Become, you all, rabbaniin.
- Servants of Allah. Bima kuntum, with
- what you or the 'ba' signifies a causal
- link, because you tuallimuna, teach the
- Book, wabima kuntum, and with what you,
- tadrusun. study. So it is not
- appropriate for someone given the Book,
- given revelation by Allah, given wisdom
- by Allah, and given prophethood by
- Allah. To then say to people to worship
- himself. But he would say, "Become
- servants of Allah. Because you teach
- the Book and you study it." Thus, the
- overall meaning of this verse is that
- it is impossible and inappropriate for
- someone who has been given a Book by
- Allah, as well as wisdom, pardon me,
- and prophethood. To then say to people,
- "Become my worshippers, not worshippers
- of Allah." But he says, "Become
- servants of Allah because you teach the
- Book and you study it." This is what
- was said by the Messenger of Allah,
- peace be upon him, to the priests who
- were fabricating lies in the name of
- Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. So, there is
- a big difference between what the
- Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,
- did and what the priests did. Now, then
- verse 80. Wala yamurukum an tattakhidul
- malaikata wan nabiyyina arbaba.
- Ayamurukum bil kufri ba'da id antum
- muslimun. Wala, and it is not
- appropriate, also not appropriate,
- yamurukum, he commands you (meaning the
- Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,
- and here, you refers to the priests and
- their followers). Yes, antattakhidzu,
- for you to take the angels and the
- prophets as deities. Ayamurukum would
- he command you toward disbelief? Ba'da
- id antum, after you have become,
- muslimuna, submissive or Muslims. The
- overall meaning of this verse, the 80th
- verse of Surah Al Imran, is that it is
- inappropriate—it is impossible—that
- he, meaning the Messenger of Allah (
- peace be upon him), would command you
- to take angels and prophets as Lords or
- objects of worship. Is it appropriate
- for him to command you to become
- disbelievers after you have become
- Muslims? So, it is clear that Islam
- does not teach to…that they should
- worship the angels, worship the
- prophets, including worshipping Prophet
- Isa (peace be upon him). That is wrong
- according to Islamic creed. Or to
- worship Uzair as a God? No. This is the
- creed taught by our Prophet Muhammad (
- peace be upon him). Now, the person who
- makes the angels and the prophets
- objects of worship is a disbeliever.
- Once again, they are disbelievers. Now,
- if they do not make the angels and the
- prophets objects of worship, it means
- they are Muslims. Meaning what?
- Worshipping Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala.
- Next is the 81st verse. Waidz
- akhadallahu mitsaqon nabiyina lama
- aataitukum min kitabi wa hikmah min
- kitabin wa hikmatin tumma jaakum
- rasulum musaddiqun lima maakum tumma
- jaakum rasulum musaddiq musaddiqun
- limaa ma'akum latu'minunna bihi Be
- careful, here it is "musaddiqun," not "
- musaddiqan" like in other verses. Qola
- a-aqrortum wa akhodztum 'ala dzalikum
- isri. Be careful, the hamzah here is a
- hamzah qat', not a hamzah wasl. So it
- is read "isri," not "dzalikum isri,"
- not that. "Dzalikum isri." Qolu aqrorna
- qola fash-hadu wa ana ma'akum
- minas-syahidin. That is the sound of
- this verse. As for the literal meaning,
- it is "wa-idz," and when "akhodza,"
- took, "Allahu," Allah, "mitsaqon
- nabiyyina," a covenant from the
- prophets, "aataitukum" after I gave you
- something, "min kitabin" from a
- scripture "wa hikmatin," and wisdom, "
- tumma," then, "jaakum," came to you "
- rasulun," a messenger, "musaddiqun,"
- who confirms "lima," what "ma'akum," is
- with you. Your promise is "latu'minunna
- ." You will surely believe. The "lam"
- is the lam of emphasis. Before the "nun
- " is the nun of emphasis. So, truly
- believe in him. Wala tansurunnah. And
- you will surely support him. Qola He,
- Allah, said, "A-aqrortum?" Do you
- affirm? Admit "wa akhodztum," and you
- accept, take, or agree to, "ala
- dzalikum," upon that, "isri," my
- covenant. Qolu, they, the prophets,
- said, "aqrorna," we admit, we affirm.
- Qola Allah said. Fash-hadu. So bear
- witness. "Wa ana," and I, Allah, "
- ma'akum," with you, "minas-syahidin."
- Among those who bear witness. That is
- the literal meaning. As a whole. And
- remember when Allah took a covenant
- from the prophets, "Whenever I give you
- a scripture and wisdom, then a
- messenger comes to you confirming what
- you have, you will surely believe in
- him and support him." Allah said, "Do
- you agree or accept the covenant with
- Me on that?" They answered, "We agree."
- Allah says, "Then bear witness, O
- prophets, and I will be a witness along
- with you." Now, this is the covenant of
- the prophets with Allah Subhanahu wa
- ta'ala, that whenever a messenger named
- Muhammad, peace be upon him, comes,
- they will believe in him and support
- him. That is the covenant of the
- prophets, including Prophet Isa (Jesus)
- , peace be upon him, including Prophet
- Musa (Moses), peace be upon him, and
- all the prophets. Now, this covenant
- also binds their followers. The
- followers of Prophet Isa. If they
- follow Prophet Isa, it means they must
- follow Prophet Isa's covenant to Allah.
- What is it? To believe in Prophet
- Muhammad, peace be upon him, and to
- support him. So, if they do not believe
- in Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him,
- it means they are not following Prophet
- Isa, peace be upon him. That is verse
- 81. Next is verse 82. Faman tawalla
- ba'da dzalika faulaika humul fasiquun.
- The literal meaning. Faman tawalla,
- then whoever turns away, ba'da dzalika,
- after that, faulaika, then they, hum,
- are, alfasiquun, the disobedient ones (
- fasik). The overall meaning is that
- whoever turns away after that, then
- they are the disobedient ones who do
- not follow the aforementioned covenant
- to believe in Prophet Muhammad, peace
- be upon him, and support Prophet
- Muhammad, peace be upon him. Those are
- the disobedient ones. So the followers
- of Prophet Musa and Prophet Isa who do
- not follow Prophet Musa and Prophet Isa
- by believing in the Messenger of Allah,
- Muhammad, peace be upon him, are indeed
- disobedient. Allah makes it even
- clearer in verse 83. Afaghairo
- dininillahi yabuna walahu aslama man
- fis samaawati wal ardhi tha. Walahu
- aslama man fis samaawati wal ardhi
- thuan wa karha wa ilaihi yurjaun. The
- literal meaning, afhair dinillah. Is it
- other than the religion of Allah
- yabguna? They desire or seek walahu and
- to Him, to Allah, aslama, they submit
- man, all who are, fis samawati, in the
- heavens, wal ardhi, and on the earth
- tauan, willingly and unwillingly wa
- ilaihi, and to Him, yurjauna, they will
- be returned. The overall meaning is, do
- they seek a religion other than the
- religion of Allah? Whereas all that is
- in the heavens and on the earth submit
- to Him, whether willingly or
- unwillingly, and only to Him they will
- be returned. If there are humans who do
- not want to follow the religion that
- has been determined by Allah, namely
- Islam, then what else are they looking
- for? Even though everything in the
- heavens is Muslim (submissive). Meaning
- they submit themselves. The sun, the
- moon, the stars, the water, the wind,
- all submit to Allah. Whether they are
- willing or forced. And all will return
- to Allah. Even things in the heavens
- and other things besides humans are
- already in Islam (submission). How can
- humans not be in Islam? Now, this, my
- brothers and sisters, is a profound
- creed regarding the truth of the
- Messenger of Allah, Muhammad, peace be
- upon him, and what he brought, namely
- the religion of Islam. So, we do not
- need to look for any other religion.
- The religion revealed by Allah and
- brought by Prophet Muhammad peace be
- upon him and the other prophets is
- Islam. Not any religion other than
- Islam. Wallahu a'lam. May Allah
- Subhanahu wa ta'ala continue to guide
- us on the path He is pleased with. Amin
- ya rabbal alamin. May Allah reward you
- for all your attention, and I apologize
- for any of my shortcomings. And let us
- conclude this session by reciting the
- kaffaratul majlis prayer together.
- Subhanakallahumma wabihamdika ashadu
- alla ilaha illa anta astaghfiruka wa
- atubu ilaik. Assalamu alaikum
- warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
