- Rasil TV for one Islam. Radio
- Silaturahim and Rasil Visual for one
- Islam. Thank you, brothers and sisters,
- for still being with us on the 720 AM
- frequency or on the Rasil TV YouTube
- channel. And for those still listening,
- you are still with me, Mr. Ahmad, and
- Ustaz Umar Rasyid Hasan during today's
- midday sermon. And brothers and sisters
- , we are live, still discussing the
- theme of "blessings misused," an
- interpretation of Ibn Kathir, Surah
- Al-Baqarah verses 57 to 61. Earlier,
- the Ustaz already explained the
- connection regarding the many blessings
- that Allah bestowed upon the children
- of Israel.
- Then he compared it to the Indonesian
- nation today, Ustaz. Yes.
- Yes.
- What is the correlation, Ustaz, with
- our theme, "blessings misused"?
- In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious
- , the Most Merciful. The correlation
- between the blessings that Allah the
- Almighty bestowed upon the children of
- Israel and their misuse of those
- blessings in their lives. The
- correlation with our country today,
- that is actually the problem. Why does
- the Indonesian nation, to whom Allah
- has granted so many blessings—such as
- the vast number of islands compared to
- other countries, and the soil fertility
- from Sabang to Merauke that other
- nations do not possess—not manage
- them in a, let's say, mature way?
- Managed with a sense of ownership, so
- to speak? So that we could manage it
- ourselves, independently. If we look
- back at the past, if the nation's
- children managed this diverse natural
- wealth independently. It feels like
- this country would not possibly go
- bankrupt. It would be impossible for
- our finances to be controlled by the
- IMF, for example. Impossible. If the
- children of this nation managed the
- natural wealth themselves, in other
- words, this country would not be
- dependent on other countries. Because
- we have our own country, we could set
- our own prices, and we could enjoy the
- results ourselves from the various
- types of crops that grow in this
- country. Now, therefore, regardless of
- the state of our country today, how
- high is the dollar now?
- Over 15,000.
- Over 15,000, the dollar is now over
- 15,000. How do we overcome the economic
- downturn in our country today? For us
- Muslims, actually, as long as the
- leaders of this country are willing to
- return to normalizing the economy.
- Manage this country personally,
- independently. Manage the agriculture
- from Sabang to Merauke. Independently.
- In terms of agriculture, there are
- clearly legumes, and various varieties
- of rice, right. Then we have root
- vegetables. Then what is it that
- Indonesia doesn't have? Everything is
- in Indonesia. The Portuguese came here
- with a mission. The British came here
- with a mission. Even those other
- countries came with a mission. The
- Dutch, who were here for 350 years,
- brought a mission. What was their
- mission? They only wanted to extract
- the spices. These spices were not
- possessed by their own countries. If
- this were managed independently, my God
- , it wouldn't take long for this
- country's economy to rise again. I
- truly believe that. Give farmers the
- freedom to plant their rice. Give them
- the freedom to sell their produce
- without being pressured. With prices
- set for them. Right? So that this
- wealth circulates among certain circles
- , when it should be circulating among
- the farmers, as the Arabic saying goes,
- al-fallahu sayyidul bilad wa malikuhul
- haqiqi. Farmers are the masters of the
- land and the true owners of wealth
- because they are the ones who work the
- soil. Well, now it's not like that.
- Prices are manipulated, produce is
- manipulated, they are force-fed
- fertilizers that are such a burden,
- right? Farmers end up in debt even from
- their own harvests. Ah, this is a major
- problem that is being experienced, to
- be resolved from that problem. For us
- Muslims, we feel that this blessing
- from Allah SWT must be preserved, must
- be guarded by what? By being managed
- independently.
- And of course, not misused.
- And not misused. And in fact, yes, as
- the title mentioned, this is a blessing
- that is being misused—an
- extraordinary blessing. Do not let it
- be misused. We must be grateful for
- this great blessing. Once again, do not
- let it be misused, or else what happens
- to this country? It is given to other
- countries. It is as if, no, not as if.
- The evidence shows it is so. Are we
- unable to manage it? Actually, we can
- manage it. Therefore, if we want the
- national economy to return to normal,
- then let the children of the Indonesian
- nation themselves manage the millions,
- if not billions, of hectares of land
- owned by our farmers, giving them the
- freedom to plant whatever they want.
- Let the results be controlled by the
- government. Please collaborate with the
- farmers, and even make the farmers the
- masters of this country, right? Not
- like what is happening now. Indonesia's
- wealth is given to other countries,
- right? This country's wealth is being
- thoroughly exploited. So, if we want to
- return to normal, return to the
- abundant produce of this land, which
- makes other countries so—oh, they are
- incredibly envious of our country. They
- are envious. When the Ustadz went to
- London recently, what we drank and what
- we ate—they consume many spices,
- especially pepper nowadays. Because of
- the cold there, with pepper entering
- the body, it warms them up. And I have
- tasted it myself; it turns out that
- when tea or coffee is mixed with pepper
- , or food is seasoned with pepper, the
- body becomes warm, and the warmth is
- felt for hours, not just for a moment.
- That is why they are so eager to drain
- Indonesia's spices to their countries
- until they can sell them elsewhere,
- until they can build dikes to keep the
- sea from flooding the Netherlands. That
- is the result of what is ours. So, once
- again, if we want this country's
- economy to return to normal, let us as
- the nation's children realize we must
- manage our own abundant resources. How
- do we start this to normalize our
- economy? For me, I am certainly not a
- nationally recognized economic observer
- . We are just thinkers at the local
- level, let’s say small-town thinkers.
- Even if our thoughts aren't
- expert-level, if the public wants to
- return the economy to normal, it’s
- not wrong for us to offer these ideas.
- As a child of this nation, I have the
- right to think, don't I? My thought is
- that we should resolve our economic
- contracts with foreign countries.
- Resolve these economic contracts with
- foreign entities because they are truly
- strangling the people of Indonesia. For
- example, regarding the auto industry,
- just finish it according to the
- contract. Once the contract expires, we
- take control of it ourselves. How long
- will that take? Until the new normal is
- achieved. When the time is up, we end
- their contracts and manage things
- ourselves. The same applies to Freeport
- . Once the contract is finished, we
- take over management ourselves. The
- same goes for Caltex and other
- companies managing our marine resources
- , like the corned beef industry that
- uses tuna, and Indonesian tuna is
- number one in the world. It’s
- powerful. This country is
- extraordinarily wealthy because we have
- 17,000 islands, and between these
- islands live various types of
- incredibly valuable fish. Unlike
- countries that do not have such an
- archipelago. We have such vast islands
- and such vast lakes. Allahu Akbar.
- Those are the kinds of thoughts coming
- from the nation’s children. Resolve
- foreign economic contracts; once their
- allotted time is up, we manage them
- ourselves. This will build up our
- economy. We have experts, after all. In
- fact, our Indonesian technology experts
- are widely utilized by other countries.
- Germany utilizes our experts in
- technology, IT, and aviation. Japan
- does the same, and so does the UK,
- using our talents. Let’s gather our
- technology experts—whether they
- specialize in clothing, food, housing,
- livestock, or agriculture—anything
- God has provided from the land to be
- researched and developed by these
- experts. It would be powerful.
- Extraordinary. If that happens in our
- country and is realized by all elements
- of this nation, from the government
- down to the grassroots level, then God
- willing, Indonesia's economy will be
- glorious again in the near future. Even
- the Rupiah will increase in value.
- Let’s look and learn from Turkey.
- Turkey was once a country with a deeply
- collapsed economy. But after two terms
- of Erdogan's administration, the
- country is now one the world considers
- most. Turkey now ranks as the 16th
- largest economy in the world. How did
- he address the economic ruin at that
- time? Erdogan returned all power to his
- country. He returned all elements of
- economic resources to the nation so
- that it became self-reliant. Once
- self-reliant, even countries outside
- Turkey began requesting products from
- Turkey. We could be like that. Why not?
- This country actually already has too
- many experts. It is just that perhaps
- their political policies are far from
- us. But one day, this country will be
- led by, let's say, a fair leader who is
- wise and patient regarding the economic
- decline and other policies that seem
- not to favor the people. In time, God
- willing, Indonesia will have many
- technology experts who can restore our
- national glory, especially in terms of
- the economy. God knows best.
- Very well, Ustaz. This is taken from
- the Quran, Surah Al-Baqarah, verses 57
- and 61.
- Now, what did the Children of Israel do
- at that time, Ustaz? To the point that
- it is said they abused Allah's
- blessings.
- Well, actually, when Allah gave them
- such diverse blessings, they instead
- showed reluctance toward Allah's
- commands. Allah ordered them to enter
- Palestine, into Baitul Maqdis. They
- instead refused and would not enter it.
- They only entered the outskirts while
- mocking Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. What
- was their mockery? In the
- interpretation, when Allah commanded "
- Hittah,"(saying) "hittatun naghfir
- lakum khatayakum," right? "Hittah"
- there means "enter with humility.""
- Hittah" means with a sense of humility,
- reverence, and begging for forgiveness
- from Allah. What did they change? They
- changed the word "hittah" to "hintah.""
- Hintah.""Hintah.""Handalah," if I am
- not mistaken. That is a type of food,
- what is it called? Like wheat, you know
- . They mocked the word of Allah with
- that term. They changed the phrase "
- wadkhulu hittatun naghfir lakum,"
- replacing "hittah" with "hintah," if I
- am not mistaken. "Handalah," if I am
- not mistaken. So, they changed Allah's
- command into a word about food. That
- was the word for a type of food that
- they changed it to. Even in their
- actions, Allah had sheltered them with
- what was mentioned earlier? With clouds
- of such magnificent quality. Allah gave
- them what with ease? Food in the form
- of "mann" sent down from the heavens,
- which no other nation ever experienced.
- Then Allah also provided "salwa" with
- ease, birds that were tame as a
- blessing for them. Yet they changed it.
- They even said these blessings were not
- enough for us. Please, Musa, ask your
- Lord for what we need. Even though if
- you look at the quality of the manna,
- salwa, and the clouds compared to what
- they wanted, like garlic and leeks.
- Garlic, leeks, and onions were higher
- quality provisions that God initially
- gave, but they were changed by the
- people themselves. What happened? That
- was the transition from blessings of
- higher quality to blessings of lower
- quality than the original ones. It does
- not mean that the garlic, onions, or
- the types of legumes mentioned were not
- beneficial for the body, but when
- compared to God's initial provisions,
- God's original command would have been
- much more pleasurable for the Children
- of Israel. Yet, they did not act that
- way. Instead, they changed it based on
- their own desires. God knows best.
- It seems it is not only Surah
- Al-Baqarah that discusses the Children
- of Israel; there are so many surahs
- that cover stories of the Children of
- Israel, describing them as betrayers,
- rebels, and so on.
- Yes.
- Now, they are repeatedly classified as
- a people who misuse blessings or even
- deny those blessings, right, Ustaz? How
- should we view such a personality,
- Ustaz? Because this keeps happening
- repeatedly, as recounted in the Qur'an.
- Yes, the repetition of information in
- the Noble Qur'an regarding the
- existence of the community of the
- Children of Israel is because, in the
- past, they were a group whose
- intellects were truly favored by Allah
- Subhanahu wa ta'ala. But not in the
- present day. Exegesis scholars say
- their intellects were prioritized for
- their time, not for the current era.
- Not in the present time. However,
- despite that, they may still possess,
- let's say, remnants of the genius that
- God once granted them. So, in any era
- they live, it seems there are always
- gaps for them to rebel, stemming from
- their own genius. And indeed, what is
- the purpose of the repeated information
- in the Qur'an? It is for us to respond
- to their condition and ensure we do not
- become like them. This is what is most
- important. So, the existence of
- repeated information in the Qur'an is
- for what purpose? It is a lesson for us
- that there exists a nation, you see.
- There is a nation that God created, and
- God says their nature is like that. So,
- God repeatedly recounts their condition
- in the Qur'an for our lesson. For our
- caution so that in life, we as the
- followers of Muhammad do not adopt
- their character. God knows best.
- Alright, viewers, before we discuss
- further, or is there anything else,
- Ustaz, before we take a break?
- No. God willing. Alright, since we will
- take a break before delving deeper into
- Surah Al-Baqarah verses 57 to 61, we
- also invite viewers who wish to send
- questions to do so via WhatsApp at
- 0811999720. As for the interactive
- service, it is at 0218451512. Before we
- return to discussing Surah Al-Baqarah
- on the theme of misused blessings, we
- will first listen to the following
- nasyid.
