We will open this 4:05 morning's lecture by reciting the 4:07 prayer for seeking knowledge together. 4:09 In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious 4:10 , the Most Merciful. O Lord, increase 4:12 my faith, O Allah, benefit me with what 4:14 You have taught me, teach me what 4:16 benefits me, and grant me useful 4:17 knowledge. Amen. Please, Ustaz. 4:20 May Allah reward you with goodness. To 4:23 all Rasil radio listeners and 4:26 television viewers, Ustaz says 4:28 assalamualaikum warahmatullahi 4:31 wabarakatuh. 4:32 Waalaikumsalam warahmatullahi 4:33 wabarakatuh. Indeed, all praise is due 4:35 to Allah; we praise Him, seek His help, 4:37 and seek His forgiveness. We seek 4:39 refuge in Allah from the evil of our 4:41 souls and the badness of our deeds. 4:43 Whoever Allah guides, none can misguide 4:46 , and whoever He leads astray, none can 4:48 guide. And I bear witness that there is 4:51 no god but Allah, alone with no partner 4:52 . And I bear witness that Muhammad is 4:55 His servant and messenger. O Allah, 4:57 send blessings upon Muhammad and upon 4:59 his family and all his companions. To 5:02 proceed. Glory be to You, we have no 5:07 knowledge except what You have taught 5:09 us; indeed, You are the All-Knowing, 5:10 the Wise. And accept our repentance, 5:12 for You are the Accepter of repentance, 5:13 the Merciful. O Allah, I seek refuge in 5:17 You from knowledge that does not 5:18 benefit, from a heart that does not 5:20 fear, from a soul that is not satisfied 5:22 , and from a prayer that is not 5:24 answered. O Allah, I ask You for 5:26 beneficial knowledge, abundant 5:28 provision, and accepted deeds. My 5:34 brothers and sisters, may you all be 5:38 blessed. This morning, my brothers in 5:45 faith, let us together open Surah 5:50 An-Nur verse 55, which relates to the 5:55 promise of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala to 6:00 His believing servants, that they will 6:05 truly be provided with life's 6:09 facilities and guarantees by Allah 6:13 Subhanahu wa ta'ala. Also about how 6:19 they will be given a kind of reward, 6:25 that reward is like a gift, by Allah 6:28 Subhanahu wa ta'ala for their righteous 6:34 deeds and their faith. Those servants 6:38 of Allah will be honored in this 6:42 worldly life, and will even later 6:46 receive the mercy and pleasure of Allah 6:50 Subhanahu wa ta'ala when they have 6:54 returned to the afterlife, by being 6:58 granted the extraordinary bliss of 7:01 Paradise. So, from this verse, we see 7:07 how the behavior of righteous people is 7:11 , the behavior of those who will 7:15 receive Allah's promises, especially 7:22 within the strata of national and state 7:25 life. So this verse concludes for us 7:33 that humans living in this world must 7:38 have some kind of sustainable 7:42 leadership. When it is devoid of the 7:47 leadership of Allah's servants in this 7:49 world, it could lead to destruction, 7:54 fitnah after fitnah. Disaster after 7:58 disaster, and even religion will become 8:03 , subhanallah adzim, corrupted. So, the 8:09 wisdom of having a caliphate is to 8:12 guard against all our worries and the 8:16 potential damages that might occur. 8:21 This verse discusses conditions that 8:26 seem very fitting today. If this verse 8:31 is correlated with the current 8:34 situation, it is very, very apt. But we 8:39 are not political experts, right? 8:40 H 8:43 We are only conveying what is stated in 8:45 the Qur'an according to its 8:47 interpretation. This verse reads, and 8:51 God willing, its meaning will be guided 8:54 by Anis. I seek refuge in Allah from 8:57 the accursed Satan. Allah has promised 9:02 those who have believed among you and 9:03 done righteous deeds that He will 9:10 surely grant them succession upon the 9:13 earth, just as He granted it to those 9:16 before them, and He will establish and 9:22 establish for them their religion which 9:24 He has preferred for them they do not 9:37 associate anything with Me and whoever 9:41 disbelieves after that, then those are 9:43 the defiantly disobedient. Please Anis, 9:49 read the meaning. The meaning is Allah 9:54 has promised those among you who 9:57 believe and do righteous deeds that He 10:01 will surely make them successors on 10:05 earth as He granted succession to those 10:08 before them. He will surely establish 10:13 for them their religion which He has 10:16 approved for them, and He will surely 10:20 replace their state of fear with 10:23 security. They worship Me, not 10:28 associating anything with Me. Whoever 10:33 disbelieves after that, they are the 10:36 defiantly disobedient. Subhanallah. May 10:39 Allah protect us from that. So, 10:43 brothers and sisters in faith who are 10:45 blessed by Allah, this verse actually 10:48 describes to us two camps of human 10:50 behavior and types. The first type of 10:55 human, who will be included in the 10:58 realm of Allah's promise, are those who 11:01 believe and with their faith, they work 11:04 . 11:07 They have some kind of devotion, they 11:11 have what we call a track record, in 11:15 today’s language. 11:19 The language of a track record, the 11:23 legacy of one’s life, a track record 11:26 is almost the same as one’s life 11:29 legacy, their work. Now, this first 11:33 group, when they believe, with that 11:39 faith, they work, 11:41 thus producing a good track record. 11:45 These are truly the servants of Allah 11:47 who are included within the realm of 11:49 Allah's promise. Right, Anis? 11:51 Yes. Exactly. Now, what if there is a 11:56 second group that is not included in 12:00 the realm of Allah's promise? Who are 12:03 they? They could also be believers, 12:07 even though their faith sometimes goes 12:09 up and down. 12:11 Yeah. 12:11 It doesn't go up much, but it drops 12:14 drastically. Right? Their faith doesn't 12:19 rise much, but it plummets. Drastically 12:23 . 12:23 Drastically. 12:25 They might be believers, but they are 12:27 not in the realm of Allah's promise. 12:30 Those are they who believe but do not 12:32 perform righteous deeds, so they don't 12:34 have a track record. 12:36 A record, they don't have a legacy of 12:40 their lives. Their past life stories 12:44 are not recorded, not turned into 12:46 evidence. 12:47 Yeah. These are also believers. It's 12:50 just that, when it's at its worst, they 12:52 really plummet. And people like this do 12:56 not make breakthroughs in righteous 12:58 deeds. 13:00 That's it. They don't have any form or 13:04 tangible proof in society of what their 13:10 faith is. Now, these are the ones 13:12 outside the realm of Allah's promise. 13:15 So, actually, Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala 13:17 is testing us. 13:18 Hm. 13:21 Testing all of Allah's servants 13:24 regarding the term "istikhlaf," which 13:26 is "khalifah," or leadership. So, don't 13:31 overinterpret the term "khalifah." It's 13:37 too excessive nowadays, interpreting " 13:39 khalifah" as identical to terrorists. " 13:44 Khalifah" being identical to being 13:46 anti-NKRI or something like that is way 13:49 too excessive. 13:51 Over the top, excessive. And if we ask 13:53 them what "khalifah" actually means? 13:56 They aren't even able to explain it. 13:58 That’s what Rocky Gerung says, right? 14:00 What is it called? What did Rocky 14:03 Gerung say? The president of common 14:06 sense. 14:08 Yes, it's stupid, right? When we ask 14:14 about the caliphate itself and they 14:16 can't explain it, he says that’s 14:18 stupid. So today, brothers in faith, we 14:24 cannot equate two very different 14:26 conditions. We cannot. The difference 14:31 will be striking, very far apart, a 14:33 huge gap in the balance. One side has 14:36 faith and does righteous deeds, thus 14:38 having a track record. While the other 14:41 has few righteous deeds because their 14:43 faith is currently failing. 14:46 Yeah. 14:47 So they lack a track record. 14:49 Yes. Well, there is a track record, but 14:53 it is a very, very painful one. The 14:58 track record even, subhanallah, impacts 15:03 what our founding fathers established 15:08 regarding state affairs. So this is an 15:16 invitation for us to think. We cannot 15:21 generalize between the first group and 15:24 the second group 15:27 on this matter of the verse. 15:29 Those who are within the realm of 15:31 Allah's promise are only those who 15:33 believe and do righteous deeds. Only 15:36 then will they be granted authority. 15:38 Yeah. 15:40 Meaning if they only have faith but do 15:44 not do righteous deeds, this implies by 15:50 the counter-concept that they will not 15:52 be given power, right? Because if they 15:57 were granted power and, after obtaining 16:00 it, had no righteous deeds, it would be 16:03 tragic, their track record wouldn't be 16:05 ......wouldn't be a meaningful or good 16:10 track record. There is a track record, 16:12 but it is all bad. There is a track 16:14 record but it is bad... 16:15 bad. 16:16 Their track record is bad. Their 16:19 legacies are poor, causing suffering 16:22 for the nation's children. 16:26 We are speaking generally to all 16:28 nations, not just our own. Because this 16:32 verse is indeed something that belongs 16:35 to all people. Not just the Muslims of 16:37 Indonesia. 16:39 This verse is general in nature. So, 16:42 brothers in Allah, once again, we 16:44 cannot equate the conditions. Now, the 16:49 ones who will receive Allah's promise 16:51 are what we must discuss now, so that 16:53 what? So that when we encounter past 16:58 cases regarding the caliphate or the 17:01 power Allah granted to His servants who 17:04 believe and do righteous deeds, we 17:06 should imitate them. Yeah. 17:12 What should we imitate, Anis? The good 17:14 things. 17:14 Yes. The positives. 17:16 The positive aspects. Something where, 17:20 while imitating, there is a work felt 17:24 as, well, what do you call it, if we 17:29 are to repay someone's kindness, how 17:33 should we do it, Anis? It must be more, 17:37 right? 17:38 It's like if you gave me 5,000, to 17:40 repay that kindness, there must be 17:43 something extra. That is the best form 17:45 of repayment. Yeah. 17:48 So we must imitate what past nations 17:51 have done and take the lessons from 17:53 them. And then, we try to do our best. 18:01 This is the promise of Allah Subhanahu 18:03 wa ta'ala. So, brothers in Allah who 18:06 are blessed by Him, we will not speak 18:08 far beyond its interpretation. The 18:14 meaning or commentary of " 18:16 wa'adallahu-lladzina amanu minkum wa ' 18:19 amilu-s-salihat." Allah's promise for 18:24 those who believe among you is for 18:27 those who are capable of doing 18:30 righteous deeds. 18:33 When they are entrusted with a mandate, 18:39 when they get, let's say, the 18:41 opportunity to manage the affairs of 18:43 the community, with promises that are 18:48 indeed reasonable. Now, to become a 18:51 leader, there must be, what do you call 18:54 it, packaging—not really promises, 18:56 but program packaging. So that program 19:01 packaging is arranged, set up, and then 19:04 presented for public understanding. 19:08 Supported by the public and us as well, 19:10 What is it called, uh, we understand 19:12 that, right? It's about those life 19:16 concepts, you know, which will 19:20 transform bad things into good; those 19:24 life programs or concepts will turn 19:27 adversity into glory, Anis. Uh, it will 19:34 transform the image of character, 19:37 subhanallah, from blameworthy character 19:40 (mazmumah) to praiseworthy character ( 19:43 mahmudah). 19:45 Mazmumah and mahmudah. Ah, this is 19:48 actually a matter that is, subhanallah, 19:50 not easy. Only because it is in 19:52 Allah’s promise, Allah makes it easy. 19:54 Yes. 19:55 What is the condition? Yes, performing 19:56 righteous deeds, you see. If you don't 19:59 do righteous deeds, that ease will 20:01 instead turn into hardship. So, 20:04 brothers, this is interpreted as Qala 20:07 Abul Aliyah fi hadzihil ayah, this is, 20:12 this is our interpretation, 20:15 Kana Nabi Shallallahu Alaihi Wasallam 20:17 makatsa ba'dal wahyi' asr sinin ma 20:20 ashabih. The Prophet sallallahu alaihi 20:24 wasallam stayed in Makkah for 10 years, 20:27 right, after the revelation came down. 20:31 wa amaru 'ala' ala al-kuffar, and Allah 20:38 Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala commanded the 20:41 Prophet and his followers to be patient 20:46 against the traps, or whatever you call 20:50 them, the insults of the disbelievers, 20:54 in the form of, uh, tortures—let's 20:58 say the suffering forced upon them by 21:02 the will of the disbelievers—to be 21:06 patient through that. Yusbihuna wa 21:10 yumsuna yusbihuna wa yumsuna yusbihuna 21:23 wa yumsuna. And the companions of the 21:30 Prophet were generally crying, whether 21:32 in the morning or the evening, feeling 21:34 very uneasy. What they felt was fear, 21:38 right, because of the threats from the 21:40 disbelievers. Thumma amaru bil hijrati 21:44 ilal Madinah. Then the Prophet 21:47 sallallahu alaihi wasallam and his 21:48 companions were commanded by Allah 21:49 subhanahu wa ta'ala to do what? To 21:51 migrate to Medina. And that is where 21:54 Allah’s command to make a change is. 21:56 Actually. 21:57 Yes. 21:58 The existence of migration is indeed a 21:59 change. Now, migration itself means, uh 22:03 , changing from the previously bad to 22:06 the good. Uh, which uh, from dirty to 22:12 clean, right? 22:15 From humiliated to noble, and so on. 22:18 That, that is through migration. Now, 22:19 those efforts are all in the form of 22:22 righteous deeds. Now, when it was clear 22:27 in Medina, that's where Islamic 22:30 civilization began by building mosques, 22:33 by presenting a high sense of 22:39 friendship, a mutual sense of belonging 22:41 , ta'akhi bainal muslimin between the 22:43 Muhajirin and the Ansar. The hearts of 22:47 the Muhajirin and Ansar were united 22:49 into a close brotherhood. Only then, as 22:54 da'wah proceeded, Islamic civilization 22:58 was started and planted there. Ah, the 23:03 disturbance of the disbelievers became 23:05 even worse. The interference from the 23:09 disbelievers was extraordinary. Only 23:11 then, wa amaru bil qital. Ahadu 23:21 as-silahah, right? And at that time, 23:25 the fear was indeed very gripping. 23:28 Yeah. 23:30 In the early days of Islam's 23:32 propagation, the believers felt such 23:35 tremendous fear that they never took 23:38 their weapons off their bodies. That 23:42 means everyone had, well, back then, if 23:45 it were today, maybe a pistol. 23:47 Back then, there were things like 23:51 daggers, so friends of the past were 23:56 like that. 23:57 They armed themselves with tools for, 24:02 what you call it, self-defense. Because 24:07 that fear was always lurking. So that 24:12 not one of them could be separated from 24:16 their weapons. Their weapons were 24:19 always with them. So much so that one 24:24 of them said. Brothers in faith. 24:32 Because the fear presented by the 24:35 disbelievers was so gripping, one of 24:38 them said, "Right.""Not a single day 24:45 passes for us without us feeling unsafe 24:49 .""And at that time, we never let go of 24:55 our weapons." 24:56 Because it was so unsafe. Now, since 25:00 this condition could not be felt for 25:02 too long by the faithful Muslim 25:04 community, my friends. Do believers 25:07 want to be constantly force-fed worry? 25:10 No. Certainly not. 25:11 We don't want that. 25:12 Because people of faith must be secure. 25:16 So Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala revealed 25:19 His promise through this verse. 25:22 Faanzala, it was only then. 25:25 Faanzalallahu hadihil ayah. Then Allah 25:29 revealed this verse. Waallahilladzi 25:33 waallahuladzina 25:34 amanuumilastaklifannahum. Only then was 25:41 this verse revealed by Allah. So the 25:44 reason for the revelation of this verse 25:47 was the gripping fear felt by the 25:49 believers at that time. Then here, 25:53 little by little, strength was gathered 25:56 , friendship and unity were fostered by 25:59 the Messenger, and it grew strong. 26:02 Their sense of security became, 26:04 subhanallahiladzim, extraordinary. Then 26:07 , once the worry had vanished, Allah 26:10 answered like this. Indeed, Allah will 26:12 give a promise to the believers who do 26:15 righteous deeds. But there is the 26:17 condition: one must do righteous deeds. 26:19 It is not enough with just faith. 26:22 It is not enough to just say, "I 26:23 believe in Allah, I believe in bad and 26:25 good destiny," right? But there is no 26:28 effort, it shouldn't be like that. Then 26:30 this verse was revealed, which is a 26:33 verse of Allah's promise to those who 26:35 believe and then do righteous deeds. 26:38 That they will be given the opportunity 26:42 to manage the world, the opportunity to 26:46 manage the affairs of the Ummah. So, 26:52 when it comes to the affairs of the 26:55 Ummah, it is closely related to the 26:58 legacy and the results of their 27:00 leadership. Hmm. 27:02 Like that. Brothers in faith who are 27:09 blessed by Allah. What is meant in the 27:12 tafsir of "la yastakhlifannahum" here? 27:15 It is clear that they will be given the 27:18 opportunity to manage. To become a 27:20 caliph in the world. What does that 27:22 mean? 27:23 It means, brothers of faith. The lands 27:30 of the disbelievers from the lands. It 27:34 means that one day, when your righteous 27:38 deeds are spread through dawah, spread 27:42 through jihad, someday the lands of the 27:45 disbelievers will be yours through that 27:49 dawah. Hmm. How far do the righteous 27:54 deeds of the believers reach with their 27:56 dawah? Even to the lands of Allah that 27:59 were held by the disbelievers in Africa 28:02 , right? The lands of the disbelievers 28:05 in Asia, 28:06 in Europe, 28:08 right, in America, and even in Aust— 28:10 everywhere, who will possess them? The 28:14 believers. 28:16 That is what*layastakhlifannahum*means. 28:19 H 28:20 later Allah will grant them power, 28:23 until it impacts*man auwarahum**ardal 28:30 kuffar minal arab wal ajam. *Certainly, 28:34 the interpretation says, you will 28:37 surely possess the lands of the 28:40 disbelievers once you have received the 28:43 promise. Therefore, those lands of the 28:47 Arabs who are still disbelievers, or 28:49 outside the Arab lands, especially the 28:51 disbelievers, all belong to you. * 28:54 Fay'alahum muluquha wasasatuha 28:57 waukkanuha. *so you will taste the joy 29:02 later of acquiring, *subhanallahzim*, 29:07 their spoils of war. Managing all the 29:12 interests of the people among them. 29:17 Perhaps some become captives, right? 29:20 Those captives will eventually become 29:23 assets and wealth. Allahu Akbar. That 29:27 is*kamakina minqablikum*, this issue 29:30 also happened in the past, that power 29:33 was granted to the previous nations, as 29:36 experienced by the righteous servants 29:38 of Allah who believed and did righteous 29:41 deeds. Who were they? Prophet David and 29:47 Prophet Solomon, whose kingdom could 29:49 not possibly exist until now; even 29:52 until the end of time, there will be no 29:55 one who becomes a king whose realm 29:57 could surpass the greatness and 29:59 vastness of King Solomon’s kingdom. 30:04 So, brothers, it is interesting to 30:08 actually study this verse in light of 30:11 the phenomena happening before us. So 30:17 if we truly feel we are righteous 30:19 people and become, let's say, 30:21 candidates to be leaders, then that 30:24 faith must be active. Their reasoning, 30:30 their common sense, must be truly 30:33 proven. 30:35 Because it is not enough to have faith 30:37 without 30:39 righteous deeds, and it is impossible 30:40 to have righteous deeds without faith; 30:42 there must be a combination of faith 30:44 and righteous deeds. 30:46 Only then will they receive the promise 30:49 of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. And this 30:51 promise will not be given by Allah to 30:53 anyone other than those who believe and 30:55 do righteous deeds. This means that 30:58 those who merely claim to be believers 31:00 but do not have a good track record 31:01 will not be given the opportunity. 31:04 That’s it. It seems that is the 31:06 meaning. *Lailahaillallah Muhammadar 31:10 Rasulullah. *Then, brothers who are 31:12 blessed by Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. 31:15 Now, the issues from the past that we 31:17 must, what should I call it? study 31:19 together. then take lessons from, and 31:24 be able to, let's say, use as a model 31:28 project for the development of human 31:31 thought in a better direction than what 31:36 happened in the past. Let us look at 31:40 when the Prophet, peace be upon him, 31:43 passed away, and before that he, peace 31:46 be upon him, said, "Al-khilafatu ba'di 31:50 thalatuna sanah.""The leadership of my 31:53 ummah can only be felt in accordance 31:56 with—meaning the leadership that 31:59 follows the commands of Allah and the 32:02 Prophet, right, Anis?" It was only 30 32:05 years, Anis. Hm. *Summa takunu mulka. * 32:09 Of the 30 years of the Caliphate of the 32:12 Islamic community that were in 32:15 accordance with—the Caliphate upon 32:17 the Prophetic Method, what happened 32:20 after that?*Mulkan*, it became kingdoms 32:24 across all regions of the land. * 32:27 Subhanallahzim. *Now, those 30 years 32:30 were divided among the four caliphs. 32:35 Who was the first Caliph? Anis. Abu. 32:40 Abu Bakar As-Siddiq. He only led the 32:45 ummah for a very, very, uh, his time 32:48 was very, very short. Only 2 years. 32:53 Subhanallah. And these 2 years were 32:55 full of accomplishments that, if 32:57 written down, would be golden works. He 33:00 , among his golden works was fighting 33:04 the apostates. The apostates were those 33:07 who left the faith after Prophet 33:09 Muhammad, peace be upon him, passed 33:10 away. 33:11 Many of them returned to the religions 33:13 of their ancestors 33:14 and their numbers were quite large. 33:16 So, the Ridda Wars occurred. 33:18 This war aimed to bring them back to 33:21 repentance in Islam. Right? There was 33:24 also a war against the group that 33:26 differentiated between prayer and zakat 33:28 ; at that time, they were fought by Abu 33:31 Bakar. 33:32 Whoever differentiates between prayer 33:33 and zakat, I will certainly fight them. 33:36 That was his golden work, you know. 33:38 Extraordinary. It's just a pity his 33:40 reign was short, only 2 years, 33:43 because it ended in assassination, 33:44 right. Only after that did the baton of 33:48 the Caliphate pass to Umar bin Khattab, 33:51 may Allah be pleased with him. He led 33:54 this ummah for quite a long time. 10 33:56 years. Subhanallah. And this baton 34:00 expanded into missionary expansion into 34:03 the African region, into Asia, and to 34:07 the Chinese region. The Asian part was 34:10 the China region. Then to other regions 34:13 like, what do you call it? Sham, right? 34:17 Sham includes Palestine, right? Syria, 34:20 Lebanon, the mission of Umar bin 34:23 Khattab spread there during his 10 34:25 years, what do you call it, serving as 34:28 the leader of the ummah. And his golden 34:32 works were extraordinary. Who doesn't 34:35 know the works of Umar bin Khattab, may 34:36 Allah be pleased with him? Please go 34:38 back to history. And it is worth 34:41 imitating. The third one, brothers, the 34:44 baton of the Caliphate fell to Uthman 34:47 ibn Affan. He was there longer, 34:50 12 years ruling over the ummah of 34:52 Muhammad, peace be upon him. Now, from 34:56 his reign, the missionary expansion 34:59 grew as far as the Maghreb, and Islam 35:02 crossed the Strait of Gibraltar to 35:05 Europe, even to, what do you call it, 35:08 Portugal, Subhanallah, over there. And 35:13 as far as here, to Southeast Asia. It's 35:17 just that this history was distorted by 35:19 the interests of the VOC at that time, 35:21 so the history is not visible. But as 35:24 for, what you might call, the track 35:27 record of Uthman bin Affan. We can 35:29 already see it in Sumatra, there is 35:35 what is called the Barus region; there, 35:38 you can find the graves of the ummah, 35:41 that the Muslim ummah had already lived 35:44 here. 35:46 Whose age is more or less 700, uh, 700 35:50 years or so. 35:52 Heh. 35:52 Uh, the 700s, uh, AD. Subhanallahilazim 35:57 . Now, matters like this, if we look at 36:00 how they ruled with faith and righteous 36:03 deeds over the ummah of Muhammad, peace 36:05 be upon him, they were those who 36:07 received the promise in ancient times. 36:11 Now, we must possess that promise again 36:14 . Now, to whom will Allah's promise 36:18 side? Right? Allah's promise will 36:22 always side with the believers who are 36:24 capable of doing righteous deeds, 36:25 thereby leaving a track record like Abu 36:27 Bakar, Umar, and Uthman. What was 36:31 Uthman's most phenomenal track record? 36:33 That was the opening of the Quran 36:36 with the Uthmani script. 36:38 Uthmanic. Furthermore, he expanded the 36:43 da'wah, sending his missionary envoys 36:45 to every corner of these lands, even 36:48 reaching Turkey. Subhanallah. Reaching 36:51 here, reaching the Balkan region, that 36:53 was extraordinary. Now, the final STPT 36:58 in this Ummah was to Ali ibn Abi Talib. 37:01 This is Allah's promise of only 30 37:03 years, you know. According to this 37:06 prophecy, 37:07 H Ali ibn Abi Talib, he did not last as 37:13 long, but not like Abu Bakar. A bit 37:16 longer. Half of Uthman's reign, he was 37:19 only there for 6 years, completing the 37:23 total of salasuna sanah, 30 years: 2 + 37:26 10 = 12 37:27 plus Uthman ibn Affan's 12 = 24, and 37:30 add Ali for just 6 years. 37:33 And during these 6 years, brothers in 37:35 faith, Ali was not like his 37:37 predecessors—oh, he was extraordinary 37:39 —but within Ali's leadership, there 37:41 were many incredible turmoils that 37:43 plagued the body of the Ummah of 37:45 Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam. 37:48 There was the Battle of Siffin, there 37:50 was the Battle of the Camel which 37:52 exhausted the mind, drained energy, and 37:54 consumed so much wealth. Now, this, 37:57 brothers in faith, is the work of 37:59 believers. The work of humans who want 38:02 to perform righteous deeds so their 38:04 track record is clear. Now, this 38:06 promise is only for them, not for 38:09 others. So, if there is a figure who 38:13 possesses faith and whose life is 38:15 dedicated to righteous deeds, then 38:17 becomes a candidate, you could say a 38:20 candidate now. To receive such 38:24 magnificent mandates from Allah, we as 38:26 believers must, with our faith, align 38:29 ourselves with believers who perform 38:31 righteous deeds. Isn't that right? 38:33 Yes. Because we wouldn't want to 38:37 associate with believers who have no 38:39 righteous deeds. Their faith is barren. 38:43 Right? It could be that their faith 38:47 continues to decline. 38:49 Oh God, once it declines, oh, they will 38:52 eventually turn upside down. Right? 38:55 Their faith could be mortgaged for 38:57 worldly things, may Allah protect us 38:58 from 39:00 that. Their faith is bartered for what 39:04 is called worldly desires, isn't it? 39:07 For personal interests, right? 39:11 And the prototype of this group has 39:13 existed since long ago; it is found in 39:15 the prototype of Pharaoh, among others, 39:18 what is it called, after Pharaoh, who 39:20 was it? Qarun, right, Qarun. 39:25 And the prototype for people with lots 39:28 of money, what was it, if it's Qarun, 39:31 then Pharaoh, Qarun, and then his 39:33 Minister of Defense. 39:36 Right? Ah, that is extraordinary. That 39:39 is the prototype. And there is a 39:42 prototype from among the scholars, 39:44 Subhanalladzim, from the past who, 39:47 today, it turns out there are groups of 39:49 scholars who follow those life patterns 39:52 , like those scholars of the past who 39:54 were scholars with vast, extraordinary 39:57 knowledge, brothers. A reference for 40:00 the Ummah. But at the end of his life, 40:04 he was tempted by money, tempted by 40:08 women and the throne. 40:10 What was his name? That was the scholar 40:12 of the Children of Israel. Balam bin 40:16 Bauro. Nowadays, there are so many in 40:23 the era we live in now, so many 40:25 scholars who are competing and even 40:28 following the life pattern of this 40:31 Bal'am bin Albaura. Even though they 40:34 are already doctors, already professors 40:35 . As long as you don't mention the name 40:37 Nis 40:38 already have a degree, let alone an LC, 40:40 there isn't any that right now. Back, 40:45 brothers, to this verse. 40:47 Waadallahuladzina amanu wailus shihat. 40:50 Allah's promise is only for those who 40:51 believe and are capable of righteous 40:53 deeds. And regarding these righteous 40:55 deeds, one must be steadfast. Whoever 40:58 the actor is, they must be steadfast. 41:00 Don't start with righteous deeds only 41:03 for it to decrease later on. Don't just 41:08 do it to fish for, what do you call it, 41:11 momentary public praise; that won't do. 41:17 This righteous nature must be steadfast 41:20 until the limit of the office held is 41:22 reached. So that the accountability is 41:26 clear when the people ask for an 41:29 accounting. If they are indeed still 41:32 worthy and fit to be re-elected as 41:35 caliph, that is the people's right. 41:39 Regarding Anis, about how many terms, 41:42 in leadership in Islam, it's actually 41:45 until death; you cannot be replaced 41:48 unless you do disgraceful things. 41:52 Now, this is because, um, because this 41:55 is a matter of democracy, there must be 41:57 limits. In Islam, there are no limits. 42:02 As long as they carry out their 42:04 righteous deeds, people shouldn't 42:06 suddenly sabotage them 42:09 and so on. Nauzubillah minzalik. 42:14 Therefore, brothers and sisters, truly 42:16 understand this verse in life. So that 42:19 when we side with the people of truth, 42:22 we must be far from the people of 42:24 falsehood. Because the opposite of 42:26 truth is falsehood. So we also side 42:29 with Allah's promise, which will be 42:32 given to those who believe and do 42:35 righteous deeds. We must be like that. 42:39 Even if we are not leaders. 42:42 We are just what you call ordinary 42:43 citizens. We must be with them and stay 42:46 as far away as possible from siding 42:49 with people who claim to believe but 42:51 whose faith is actually failing. Who do 42:55 not have a positive track record. In 42:57 life. Wallahu'alam. Wallahu'alam 43:01 bishawab. Right. Masyaallah. Truly 43:03 extraordinary, Ustaz. Yes, from the 43:05 discussion that you delivered on Quran 43:09 Surah An-Nur in verse 55. And because 43:15 of the time, Ustaz. 43:17 Yes. 43:18 Masyaallah. We will be finished soon, 43:21 Ustaz. Let's go straight to the Q&A 43:23 session, Ustaz, shall we? And we invite 43:26 let's just save time. 43:28 That's right, there is a break first. 43:29 So we also invite brothers and sisters 43:32 who want to ask questions via telephone 43:36 at 0218451512 for WhatsApp, questions 43:40 can be sent to 0811999720. There are 43:47 already several questions that have 43:48 come in, Ustaz, among them from Mr. 43:50 Yudi in Bogor, Ustaz, who also asks, 43:52 Mr. Yudi. 43:53 That is correct. Assalamu'alaikum 43:54 warahmatullahi wabarakatuh, Ustaz. 43:56 Wa'alaikumussalam warahmatullahi 43:57 wabarakatuh, sir. 43:59 Straight away, he says, my question is, 44:00 what was the attitude of the caliphs of 44:02 the past when they faced problems? 44:04 Thank you, Ustaz. 44:05 Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. Indeed, the 44:08 character and temperament of the 44:10 Islamic caliphs at that time were all, 44:13 what shall we call it, fostered by 44:15 piety. 44:17 Yes. 44:17 So whatever the character, it 44:19 ultimately ends in piety. So when they 44:22 encountered heavy matters, right, 44:26 matters that were difficult to solve, 44:29 they were always resolved through piety 44:33 . In the end, everything is resolved 44:37 through piety. So we must also follow 44:40 suit. 44:42 Suppose there is a difficult problem, 44:44 one that this leader cannot possibly 44:46 solve alone. He performs a two-rakat 44:48 prayer of need, performs wudu properly, 44:51 then prays two rakats asking Allah for 44:53 guidance. This is one form of righteous 44:56 deed from a leader. Are there any 44:59 leaders now who, when suddenly faced 45:01 with a difficult economic case, perform 45:03 wudu, pray two rakats of the prayer of 45:05 need, and ask Allah for help—are 45:07 there any now? Honestly. 45:12 Maybe there are, honestly. 45:13 Well, we must create a caliph or leader 45:17 like this. One who, when the community 45:21 faces social difficulties, 45:23 then he performs wudu, he prays two 45:26 rakats of the prayer of need, asking 45:28 for Allah's help. 45:30 That is his form of righteous deed. So 45:33 whatever heavy cases in life arise will 45:35 always be thoroughly resolved. Yes. 45:39 And that resolution has a positive 45:41 impact, an impact that brings welfare. 45:44 For example, economic cases, for 45:47 instance. Perhaps Mr. Yudi is leaning 45:49 toward the economy, perhaps toward bad 45:51 politics, right. If indeed everything 45:55 in one's character and disposition is 45:58 accompanied by piety, God willing, 46:01 Allah will direct this leader toward 46:04 the best resolution or problem solving. 46:08 Hmm. 46:11 The best, so that in education, it 46:14 leads to the Quran and noble character; 46:17 in the economy, toward Sharia, and so 46:20 on. Management of, for example, social 46:23 affairs, political assets, or even 46:25 cultural assets is directed toward the 46:27 pleasure of Allah Subhanahu 46:29 wa Ta'ala. This is something we must 46:32 emulate. Wallahu a'lam bishawab (Allah 46:34 knows best). Like that, Mr. Yudi. 46:36 Yes. Alright, I hope that answers your 46:39 question, Mr. Yudi. Let's continue 46:41 again, Ustadz. This is from Tangerang, 46:44 Mr. Hadi. Assalamu'alaikum 46:45 warahmatullahi wabarakatuh, Ustadz. 46:47 Wa'alaikumussalam warahmatullahi 46:48 wabarakatuh, Mr. Hadi. 46:50 Ustadz, in my area, there is someone 46:52 who claims to be a believer and 46:54 performs a sacrifice every Eid al-Adha. 46:57 However, his intention for the 46:59 sacrifice is only to be seen or for 47:00 show (riya '), Ustadz. How is this, 47:02 Ustadz? 47:03 Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. It is very 47:05 unfortunate 47:07 if he claims to have faith, 47:09 but the expression of his faith is only 47:11 for the assessment of humans. 47:13 Humans. If possible, we should advise 47:16 our brother as best we can; perhaps 47:19 when he does it, he is not aware. 47:21 H. 47:22 Right, maybe there is some need? The 47:26 need to gain an office, the need to 47:28 gain a position, so he sacrifices a 47:31 Limousin cow, for example, just to be 47:33 seen by people—a momentary faith for 47:36 his long-term interests, right. One day 47:39 of faith for the interest of two terms 47:42 in office; his faith is only worth that 47:45 much, just a Limousin, for example. 47:48 Well, if possible, advise such a person 47:50 ; it is a pity. Why? Because there will 47:54 be no benefit in whatever he does; with 47:56 his riya', all his deeds will fall away 47:59 later. 48:00 He is even included as a perpetrator of 48:02 minor shirk. Na'udzubillah min dzalik ( 48:03 We seek refuge in Allah from that). If 48:04 this minor shirk continues to be 48:06 practiced, the small things can grow 48:08 and become major shirk. God forbid. Now 48:11 , if it's already major shirk, what 48:13 faith can one rely on? 48:14 Yeah. 48:15 So, there is no benefit at all in one's 48:17 faith when someone performs their deeds 48:19 only for show (riya 'linnas). 48:22 Just to be seen by other people. Advise 48:26 them so what? Their faith awareness 48:29 becomes purely intact again. Only 48:32 seeking the pleasure of Allah Subhanahu 48:34 wa ta'ala with faith when doing good 48:35 deeds. God knows best. Like the example 48:37 given earlier regarding the sacrifice ( 48:39 qurban), right? 48:40 Yes. Now the sacrifice is a Limousin 48:42 cow. How many hundreds of millions is 48:44 that? 48:45 Right. 48:45 They still have strong faith when 48:47 buying the cow, but for the sake of 48:49 their pride. Seen by people after that, 48:51 the reward of the sacrifice 48:52 collapses, it's all 48:53 gone. God forbid. What a shame, right? 48:56 Alright, Ustaz, let's continue. Here is 48:59 Ibu Darma in Bekasi. Peace be upon you 49:01 and Allah's mercy and blessings, Ustaz. 49:02 And peace be upon you and Allah's mercy 49:03 and blessings, Ibu Darma. Um, Ustaz, 49:06 this year I plan not to do the 49:09 sacrifice first because the village 49:12 prayer room (musala) that was built by 49:15 my late husband 49:18 Yeah. 49:19 is currently in need of funds for 49:21 renovation. So, the funds I had for the 49:24 sacrifice, I am diverting to the 49:27 renovation costs. What do you think, 49:29 Ustaz? Please enlighten me. 49:30 In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious 49:31 , the Most Merciful. This is just a 49:32 matter of priority. 49:33 Yes. The virtue of sacrifice for 49:36 someone. Let's say the virtues are 1, 2 49:40 , 3, and so on. 49:41 Yeah. 49:42 The virtue of someone prioritizing a 49:44 place of worship, right? Because if a 49:47 place of worship is not renovated, it 49:50 will endanger those who use the 49:53 facility. Maybe the tiles or something 49:56 might fall during worship. 49:59 So this virtue, Mother, whom Allah 50:01 blesses, may what you and your family 50:02 do be accepted by Allah Subhanahu wa 50:04 ta'ala. 50:06 It would be better to do that first. 50:08 The priority scale is the renovation of 50:10 the prayer room first. Yes. 50:13 Because this prayer room is a place of 50:15 worship for many people. 50:17 Yes. 50:17 Right? 50:18 Yeah. 50:19 Now, whereas the people focusing on 50:21 this renovation are only a few. 50:24 Yeah. 50:24 Is that right, Nanis? 50:26 Those handling this renovation might 50:27 just be your family, Mother, and that, 50:30 God willing, is enough. But not 50:32 everyone can handle that renovation. 50:36 However, it's different with sacrifice. 50:38 For the sacrifice, there are many 50:40 Muslims who have plenty of money. They 50:43 even flock to perform this sacrifice by 50:47 buying healthy, fat animals with lots 50:50 of meat to 50:53 be distributed to the poor and needy. 50:55 Now, as long as the poor and needy are 50:57 still being taken care of by many, it's 50:59 different from when you, Mother, are 51:02 handling the renovation of the prayer 51:04 room, not everyone participates, right? 51:07 It would be dangerous if the prayer 51:09 room is left abandoned so it cannot be 51:11 utilized. Right, so this is a thing 51:15 subhanallah, one of the forms of your 51:17 good deeds, Mother, as a believer, 51:20 so God willing, the results will also 51:23 be felt by more people. And if the 51:25 prayer room itself is broken, 51:27 automatically people cannot even 51:29 sacrifice there, right? So, it would be 51:33 better if the place is renovated first, 51:35 and. May the Ustaz pray that the 51:37 renovation you and your family will 51:39 undertake is assisted by Allah 51:41 Subhanahu wa ta'ala, made easy, and 51:42 soon the place will be worthy again as 51:44 a place of worship for Muslims so that 51:46 next year, God willing, you can offer 51:48 your sacrifice at your own prayer room. 51:51 Isn't that right, dear? Well, this is 51:52 our prayer from Rasil. Wallahu a'lam 51:54 bish-shawab. Wallahu a'lam bish-shawab. 51:55 Alright, let's read the final question, 51:58 Ustaz. This is from Mr. Basyid in 52:00 Bantar Gebang. Bantar Kembang, Bekasi, 52:02 right? 52:02 Bantar Kembang, Bekasi. 52:03 Assalamu'alaikum warahmatullahi 52:04 wabarakatuh, Ustaz. 52:05 Wa'alaikumussalam warahmatullahi 52:06 wabarakatuh, Mr. Basit. Please go ahead 52:08 . 52:08 Permission to ask, Ustaz. When I look 52:10 at social media, the news reported is 52:13 about murder, theft, and so on. I see 52:17 the morals and faith of people in this 52:19 era are truly concerning. What I want 52:21 to ask is, where are the scholars and 52:24 the Ustaz who uphold' enjoining good 52:26 and forbidding evil '? Are they still 52:28 busy with matters of disagreement in 52:29 jurisprudence? Please give us your 52:31 advice, Ustaz. 52:31 This is what we are very concerned 52:33 about. So if we are concerned about 52:36 conditions like this, those who are 52:38 concerned must also have a real impact 52:40 on society. If he has friends who are 52:45 Ustaz and has, let's say, an 52:47 association of educators, right, Anis? 52:51 We task them with forming a team to 52:54 address the problems like the ones 52:57 mentioned by Mr. Basit. Mr. Basit, that 53:00 ...the moral decay today, the 53:05 degradation of faith today, Subhanallah 53:08 , it is a challenge for us. 53:11 The preachers. 53:14 Nowadays, if preachers are compared to 53:17 the rampant public crimes, such as 53:21 murder, rape, what do you call it, 53:24 torture, robbery, right? These forms of 53:28 crime now, wow, there are an 53:30 extraordinary number of variants. 53:31 Yes. 53:32 Drug users, right? 53:36 And betrayals, they are extraordinary. 53:41 When we compare, Anis, the rampant, the 53:45 sheer volume, let's say, of the 53:48 variants of immorality. 53:51 Hm. 53:51 Compared to the number of Ustaz, it is 53:53 not yet proportional. The number of 53:56 Ustaz is small. Let's say there are 53:59 many, but only a few are aware of these 54:01 changes. Many nowadays, just as 54:04 mentioned earlier, are only preoccupied 54:08 with personal matters. How to enrich 54:12 themselves with lectures, how to enrich 54:14 themselves with preaching honorariums. 54:17 It is like that, to be honest. 54:19 Hm. And this results in the barrenness 54:22 of Da'wah and leads to the hardening of 54:25 the hearts of those Ustaz and Kiai. 54:29 Therefore, we give a warning to the 54:33 scholars, Kiai, and Ustaz: it is on 54:36 your shoulders that the affairs of the 54:39 Ummah of Muhammad must be carried, so 54:42 that the Ummah of Muhammad no longer 54:46 colors the world with various variants 54:49 of crime, immorality, and sin. Do not 54:55 just remain silent after we preach and 54:58 receive those thick envelopes of 55:00 honorariums. 55:03 Coming once for 15 million, coming once 55:05 for 50 million, coming once for 100 55:06 million. Where is the responsibility? 55:09 Hm. 55:11 Moral decay is everywhere, ethics are 55:14 fading everywhere, and Islamism is 55:17 everywhere. This is our responsibility 55:20 as those who have been given Islamic 55:22 knowledge. And this is a responsibility 55:24 for both this world and the hereafter. 55:26 If later, after Mr. who was it again? 55:29 Basyid. 55:31 If Basyid's concerns are not addressed 55:33 by the scholars, do not blame the 55:35 children of this nation. When they are 55:38 possessed by the devil, their actions 55:42 break the law because of the silence of 55:44 the scholars. And when scholars let 55:48 vice go unchecked, they are called " 55:50 mute devils." Not scholars, but devils 55:54 that are mute. 55:55 Mute devils. How terrible that title is 55:57 for the community of scholars. May God 55:59 protect us from that. Therefore, we see 56:02 today the awareness of the ummah 56:04 regarding religion, and the awareness 56:06 of the scholars regarding the 56:08 importance of da'wah to all circles. So 56:13 it is hoped that when da'wah is carried 56:16 out carefully, with patience, and by 56:18 hoping for success from Allah Subhanahu 56:21 wa ta'ala, this becomes a 56:23 responsibility and a right for fellow 56:26 Muslims that we must fulfill. And 56:30 hopefully, in this way, there will be 56:32 some kind of balance even though these 56:34 ustads are not as numerous as the acts 56:37 of vice committed by the people. 56:39 However, day by day, we will continue 56:41 to take balancing actions, right? If 56:44 there is a balance between the number 56:46 of ustads and kyai with the rampant 56:48 vice, at one point we will reach a 56:51 balance. Once it is balanced, God 56:52 willing, there will be a sort of, what 56:54 is it, a benefit? Getting, uh, uh, what 56:57 do you call it? 56:59 Royalties from da'wah, right? The 57:02 royalties the Ustad means are not thick 57:05 envelopes of cash, but royalties of 57:07 reward and virtues in life. 57:09 h 57:10 that will be obtained. This is what we 57:12 hope for. Wallahu'alam bishawab. 57:13 Wallahu'alam bishawab. Alright, perhaps 57:15 a conclusion from the Ustad. That is 57:16 enough, Ustad, right? 57:17 MasyaAllah. Alright, 57:19 the Ustad is self-aware. 57:20 The question from Mbak Basit closes our 57:23 program this morning. And we say 57:26 jazakallah to Ustad Umar who has come 57:28 to Radio Silaturahim to deliver the 57:30 study. MasyaAllah, may the Ustad always 57:33 be given health by Allah Subhanahu wa 57:35 ta'ala. 57:35 Amin. 57:35 Brothers and sisters, listeners of 57:37 Radio Rasil and also viewers of Rasil 57:39 TV YouTube. That concludes our program 57:41 this morning in the morning sermon 57:43 program with Ustad Umar Rasid Hasan in 57:45 the study of Ibn Kathir's Tafsir. And 57:49 today's discussion is related to Quran 57:51 Surah An-Nur, chapter 24, verse 55. 57:55 Hopefully, this morning's sermon can be 57:57 useful for us all. Hopefully 57:59 we 58:01 will surely receive rewards from Allah 58:03 Subhanahu wa ta'ala. Hopefully, it 58:05 increases our faith and piety in the 58:07 sight of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. I 58:09 am Muhammad Anis Mualim and the Rasil 58:11 crew on duty, including Ondi Saputra as 58:13 cameraman and switcher for Rasil TV, 58:15 and also Fajar Hidayah as radio 58:16 operator, as well as our friends who 58:18 are relaying our program this morning. 58:21 May we always be given health by Allah 58:23 Subhanahu wa ta'ala. We close the 58:25 program with the Kafaratul Majelis 58:26 prayer. Subhanakallahumma wabihamdika 58:29 ashadu alla ilahailla anta astagfiruka 58:31 wa atubu ilaik. We sincerely apologize 58:33 for any shortcomings. Peace be upon you 58:35 , and Allah's mercy and blessings.
