Alright, on this occasion 1:53 brothers and sisters, we will discuss 1:56 meditation, and later we will also open 1:58 a Q&A session. We invite brothers and 2:02 sisters to send in their questions, and 2:04 we will start as usual with the 2:05 recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah first. 2:08 Please, go ahead. I seek refuge in 2:13 Allah from the accursed Satan. In the 2:20 name of Allah. Praise be to Allah, Lord 2:26 of the Worlds. The Most Gracious, the 2:31 Most Merciful. Master of the Day of 2:35 Judgment. You alone we worship, and You 2:40 alone we ask for help. Guide us to the 2:45 straight path. The path of those upon 2:50 whom You have bestowed favor. Not of 2:55 those who have evoked [Your] anger or 2:57 of those who are astray. 3:04 Amen. Amen. Amen, O Lord of the Worlds. 3:07 Brothers and sisters. On this occasion, 3:09 as I mentioned earlier, we will discuss 3:11 how Islamic Sharia views the practice 3:14 of meditation. As an introduction, 3:18 brothers and sisters, in the midst of a 3:21 fast-paced modern life full of high 3:23 stress, global awareness of the 3:26 importance of mental health is 3:28 increasing. Various self-calming 3:31 methods such as mindfulness, breathing 3:34 exercises, and even meditation 3:36 techniques. have now become part of a 3:40 lifestyle to seek inner peace. As a 3:44 Muslim, how does this phenomenon spark 3:47 a very interesting discussion on how 3:49 Islamic Sharia views the practice of 3:52 meditation? On one hand, Islam is a 3:55 religion that emphasizes the importance 3:57 of peace of soul. Tuma'ninah ( 4:00 tranquility), purification of the self, 4:03 or tazkiyatun nafs. However, on the 4:06 other hand, the meditation practices 4:08 that are growing in the modern world 4:11 are often rooted in certain non-Islamic 4:13 philosophical traditions or beliefs 4:15 that may contain symbols, mantras, or 4:18 theological concepts that need to be 4:20 examined for their compatibility with 4:22 the values of Tawhid, Ustadz. Brothers 4:25 and sisters, let us listen together to 4:27 how Islamic Sharia views the practice 4:29 of meditation, which will be presented 4:31 by our teacher, the Ustadz. We invite 4:32 you, Ustadz. 4:38 I seek refuge in Allah from the 4:39 accursed Satan. In the name of Allah, 4:41 the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. 4:44 Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. 4:50 A bountiful, good, and blessed praise, 4:52 as our Lord loves and is pleased with. 4:55 Glory be to You, we cannot count the 4:58 praise due to You, for You are as You 5:00 have praised Yourself. So to You is the 5:03 praise until You are pleased, to You is 5:06 the praise when You are pleased, and to 5:09 You is the praise after You are pleased 5:11 . O Allah, send prayers upon Your 5:20 servant and messenger, our master and 5:22 prophet Muhammad, and upon his pure 5:24 family, his noble and honorable 5:26 companions, his brothers among the 5:29 prophets and messengers, and those who 5:31 follow his upright path until the Day 5:34 of Judgment. O Allah, grant us mercy 5:37 from Yourself and bestow upon us 5:38 beneficial knowledge from Your presence 5:40 , and benefit us with what You have 5:42 taught us. To proceed. Brothers and 5:47 sisters who are blessed by Allah, this 5:50 morning we meet once again. May Allah 5:54 shower His mercy, blessings, guidance, 5:59 and forgiveness upon us all. I greet 6:05 the congregation, the attendees, and 6:08 the listeners and viewers of Radio TV 6:10 Silaturahmi with the greeting that 6:13 Allah has taught us, which is also 6:15 recommended by our Prophet Muhammad, 6:18 peace be upon him, which contains a 6:20 prayer. May the peace, mercy, and 6:24 blessings of Allah be upon you. 6:28 Brothers and sisters who are blessed by 6:30 Allah. As previously conveyed by Kang 6:35 Rizal, amidst the heavy challenges of 6:38 life and its hustle and bustle, humans 6:47 are truly plunged into restlessness and 6:51 endless anxiety, which drives some 6:57 people to commit suicide. Because they 7:02 feel that life is so difficult. There 7:05 is only endless darkness. There is no 7:09 spark of light or hope that they can 7:12 hold onto as a guide and purpose. Today 7:19 we can realize and understand that all 7:23 this happens because human orientation 7:26 is fixed on material things in this 7:30 worldly life. Where right and wrong are 7:33 measured by material standards. 7:36 Likewise, nobility and ignominy are 7:38 also measured by material standards. 7:44 Meanwhile, Allah, the Creator, the Most 7:47 Compassionate and Most Merciful, who 7:49 created mankind, sent His messengers as 7:52 a mercy, and revealed His book as a 7:55 light. All of this is ignored. Even 8:03 Muslims who claim to be believers in 8:06 Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, it turns out 8:13 that their understanding of religion, 8:15 as well as their practice, is only 8:17 skin-deep and has not penetrated into 8:19 their hearts. The Muslim community is 8:23 preoccupied with debates and conflicts 8:25 in jurisprudence which make them 8:29 divided, scattered, and even full of 8:33 doubt and anxiety, adding to the 8:37 restlessness they already feel. They do 8:42 not find at all in the guidance and 8:45 teachings of religion any direction 8:49 that invites them to live in harmony 8:53 with themselves, in harmony with fellow 8:57 humans, and in harmony with the 9:00 universe. Otherwise, the waves they 9:05 face and the ripples provide absolutely 9:08 no opportunity for them to live in 9:11 peace. So we wonder, does Islam provide 9:17 us with a solution to face all this so 9:22 that we remain steadfast and calm, even 9:28 when faced with the heavy waves and 9:31 storms of life? But we can feel 9:35 tranquility and peace in facing all of 9:37 that because we are with Allah 9:39 Subhanahu wa ta'ala. Well, many Muslims 9:45 seek peace by learning meditation. Even 9:51 though the method of meditation does 9:53 not come from their religious teachings 9:56 . Some also practice yoga 10:01 to bring peace into their hearts. There 10:06 are also those who perform uzlah, 10:08 leaving society and life to isolate 10:10 themselves, on mountain peaks or by the 10:15 seaside. They distance themselves from 10:20 human life. Do they find peace and 10:23 tranquility? It turns out that it is 10:25 merely a sedative. 10:29 Like an anesthetic that eases the 10:31 symptoms but fails to treat the root of 10:33 the disease. In the Indonesian 10:39 dictionary, the word meditation means 10:42 to focus one’s thoughts and feelings. 10:50 Focusing thoughts and feelings to 10:53 achieve something. Meditation is 10:59 usually associated with tranquility, 11:02 peace, and focusing one's mind and 11:05 feelings to attain calm, happiness, and 11:08 balance. In Islamic teachings and 11:17 religious guidance, Allah Subhanahu wa 11:20 Ta'ala provides guidance for us all to 11:25 meditate, but in a Sharia-compliant way 11:29 . This Sharia-compliant meditation is 11:33 through prayer (salah). But 11:35 unfortunately, prayer these days 11:38 is no longer a practice that brings 11:42 peace or focuses our attention entirely 11:45 on Allah. Feeling the presence of Allah 11:49 in our hearts, before us, and with us. 11:53 Nowadays, many Muslims who pray, and 11:55 even their scholars, occupy the ummah 11:58 with conflicts and differences of 12:03 opinion, rather than directing them 12:05 toward Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. 12:09 Whereas Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala has 12:12 said, "Qod aflahal mukminun alladzina 12:15 hum fi solatihim khosiun." Truly 12:21 successful are the believers who are 12:24 humble and focused in their prayers. So 12:31 , what is this "khusyuk"(humility/focus 12:32 ) really? It is the very goal of 12:36 meditation: to humble ourselves, to be 12:42 still, and to direct our thoughts, 12:45 feelings, and hearts toward Allah 12:49 Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, who is the Lord of 12:52 the Worlds, the Most Gracious, the Most 12:56 Merciful, the Master and Owner of this 13:00 universe. When they succeed in humbling 13:07 themselves, focusing their attention, 13:10 feelings, and hearts toward Allah 13:13 Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. Their souls, 13:19 previously in total darkness, truly 13:21 experience the illumination of 13:23 Allah’s light. Because Allah is the 13:26 Light of the heavens and the earth, who 13:28 illuminates the skies and the earth. 13:30 Likewise, He illuminates human souls 13:33 amidst their darkness. He moistens 13:36 human souls in their barrenness and 13:40 dryness. Providing hope so they truly 13:44 feel, amidst the trials and challenges 13:46 of life, that hope is vast. A bright, 13:51 shining light. And they realize that 13:53 the bitterness of life they endure is 13:57 the path to eternal success. Not just 14:01 in this worldly life, but a struggle 14:03 that will lead them to honor in this 14:06 world and the Hereafter. A life that 14:10 provides benefits like rain falling 14:13 upon dry and barren land. They are the 14:18 reflection of true believers. As 14:21 mentioned in a narration handed down 14:25 from the Prophet's family. Inna lillahi 14:31 ibadan mayamin, yaisuna wa yunasu fi 14:34 aknafihim. Indeed, upon this earth, 14:40 Allah has servants whose lives are full 14:42 of blessings. They live, and they also 14:47 provide opportunities for others to 14:49 live under their shade. With what Allah 14:53 has granted them, they scatter mercy 14:55 for those around them. Just like the 14:58 role of the Messenger, "wa ma arsalnaka 15:00 illa rahmatan lil alamin." They have 15:05 faith, and they also provide a sense of 15:06 security for people around them. They 15:09 even maintain security amidst this 15:11 universe and do not cause corruption. 15:16 Likewise, as a Muslim, they do not only 15:19 crave salvation for themselves, but 15:22 they also bring salvation to those 15:24 around them. They also live by inviting 15:29 others to enjoy a noble life together 15:32 with them. Kamalil q, they are like 15:38 rain; it does not fall in just one 15:41 place, but brings mercy and blessings, 15:44 bringing life to what was once barren, 15:47 dry land with blackened grass, which 15:50 immediately stirs to grow green plants 15:54 as soon as the rain falls. Giving hope 15:58 and beauty to all of our landscapes. 16:05 Conversely, wa innillahi ibadan malain. 16:09 On the face of the earth, there are 16:11 also cursed servants. They live only 16:15 for themselves, even if it brings 16:17 catastrophe and disaster to those 16:19 around them. Their lives are sustained 16:22 by the suffering they inflict upon 16:25 humanity. Yaisun w yaunasu fi aknafihim 16:29 . They live, but they do not allow 16:31 others to enjoy life alongside them. 16:35 Waluhum kamalil jarad. They are like 16:39 locusts. La taq al illa atat alaih. The 16:46 crops, the result of the farmers 'hard 16:49 work who struggled to plant them, are 16:52 attacked by a swarm of locusts. In the 16:56 blink of an eye, the fruits of others' 16:59 hard work are destroyed. Now, dear 17:03 attendees and listeners honored by 17:07 Allah, this is a depiction of those 17:10 people who bring disaster and curses 17:13 upon humanity just for their own 17:16 interests. Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala 17:22 desires believers to be such that as 17:27 they feel peace and tranquility, they 17:29 also bring peace to those around them. 17:33 Therefore, a person is not a believer 17:36 unless those around them feel safe from 17:39 their interference. It is impossible 17:42 for someone to be a true Muslim unless 17:44 those around them are safe from the 17:47 harm of their tongue, actions, and 17:49 malice. This is what we often forget. 17:52 We provide many definitions regarding 17:56 the essence of a believer and the 17:58 essence of a Muslim. But we forget what 18:03 the true purpose of our religion is. It 18:10 is not to burden humanity, not to 18:12 plunge humanity into suffering, but to 18:14 bring humanity out of darkness toward a 18:17 bright life, full of hope, full of love 18:20 , and full of compassion. Now, to 18:25 achieve this noble goal, the hearts of 18:29 humanity must be directed toward Allah 18:32 Subhanahu wa ta'ala. Feeling that they 18:37 are all brothers and sisters. They are 18:42 also responsible, not only for 18:44 themselves but also for the safety of 18:46 others. Whatever potential and 18:50 advantages Allah has given them, they 18:52 use to help their fellow human beings. 18:56 They do not live alone, but live like 18:59 one family coming from the same parents 19:03 ; the strong help the weak, the rich 19:06 support and aid the poor, and those 19:09 with knowledge educate those who lack 19:12 it. Through cooperation among the great 19:16 family of humanity, bound by the ties 19:19 of kinship. And they also realize that 19:24 Allah's mercy will descend upon them 19:27 when they love and care for one another 19:29 , so their lives will always truly be 19:32 under His protection. A heart always 19:37 centered upon Allah. Likewise, their 19:43 mind and thoughts through the prayer 19:47 performed five times a day. And also 19:52 practiced during khulwah in the 19:55 solitude of the night. They turn their 19:58 faces toward Allah. Their souls will 20:01 never be empty of Allah. Their souls 20:04 will always be illuminated by the light 20:06 of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. Their 20:09 souls will also always be drenched in 20:11 the mercy of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. 20:14 Therefore, it is necessary or 20:19 obligatory for every ustadh, every kiai 20:22 , every scholar, and every habib who 20:25 leads the community to truly teach 20:28 prayer to their followers. Prayer is 20:34 the deed most beloved by Allah 20:36 Subhanahu wa ta'ala and it is the most 20:38 supreme act. It begins with an 20:45 invitation and a call that comes from 20:47 Allah. Not to burden or complicate 20:51 things for them, but to invite them to 20:54 attain success. Allah Subhanahu wa 20:59 ta'ala reminds us that even if life's 21:01 burdens are heavy and beyond their 21:03 strength, Allah is ready to help them. 21:06 Thus, the call begins with Allahu Akbar 21:09 . Allahu Akbar. So that humans do not 21:12 feel weak. They are weak when they are 21:16 alone or relying on their own efforts. 21:20 But by holding on to Allahu Akbar. All 21:24 problems, no matter how heavy and 21:26 difficult, will become easy. Ashadu 21:31 alla ilaha illallah. Reminding us of 21:35 our shahada. And what we must do as 21:39 those who profess it? There is no God 21:42 but Allah. If truly absorbed, life will 21:46 be tranquil and peaceful. They have a 21:49 clear purpose of where to go, where to 21:51 turn their face, and where to seek help 21:54 . Likewise, from Him, we take our guide 21:58 for life. Wa ashadu anna Muhammadan 22:01 rasulullah. Then we testify that 22:04 Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. By 22:09 understanding this, understanding the 22:12 message he brought, we will truly 22:15 welcome it, study it, and hold firmly 22:18 to it, which will teach us to be 22:21 servants who are pious and grateful to 22:24 Him. Then after that, Allah Subhanahu 22:30 wa ta'ala invites us to meet Him, to 22:33 speak directly to Him, to pour out our 22:36 hearts while listening to the verses of 22:39 Allah that brighten our minds. 22:44 Therefore, why is prayer the most 22:47 supreme act in Islam? Because besides 22:51 speaking and connecting with Allah, 22:53 Allah also provides us with guidance 22:55 and direction through His verses, 22:58 illumination amidst the darkness of our 23:00 lives. Therefore, in one hadith, it is 23:05 mentioned how Allah divides prayer into 23:08 two parts. One part for us, and one 23:12 part for Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. A 23:17 servant who is always connected to 23:19 Allah, whose heart is bound to Allah, 23:21 full of hope in Allah, would he need 23:23 anyone other than Allah Subhanahu wa 23:25 ta'ala? Will he be in darkness while it 23:30 is Allah who illuminates his soul, and 23:32 there is no God or master other than 23:35 Allah? If He wills something, innama 23:38 amruhu idza aroda syai-an ay-yaqula 23:40 lahu kun fayakun. So this prayer is a 23:44 source of success and help for us. It 23:48 is not a burden amidst the hustle and 23:51 bustle of life. Allah Subhanahu wa 23:56 ta'ala invites us first of all in the 23:59 morning as soon as the dawn breaks; we 24:01 connect with Allah as our provision and 24:04 hope, serving as guidance for our 24:06 life's journey. We begin with prayer, 24:11 communicating with Allah. Then, hayya 24:14 alal falah. Allah promises success for 24:17 all of us. Then, in the afternoon after 24:23 we are weary and tired from working, 24:26 Allah invites us to cast away our 24:28 fatigue, to pump up our hopes again, 24:31 and to share our grievances while 24:34 listening to Allah's guidance through 24:37 the verses of the Scripture we read. 24:45 After we rest and have our midday meal, 24:48 we return to continue our work. In the 24:52 evening, Allah invites us once again. 24:57 Once more, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala 24:59 calls us to attain success. While we 25:02 evaluate the work we have done. We seek 25:07 Allah's help to perfect the deeds we 25:09 have performed and to forgive the 25:11 mistakes and sins we have committed. 25:16 After we pray, we finish our work and 25:20 return to our homes with our families. 25:26 Then, at sunset, Allah invites us again 25:29 , inviting us to meet with Him, to 25:32 truly feel that Allah is with us not 25:35 only during the day, but even at night. 25:39 Allah never leaves us. We pray in the 25:43 houses of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, 25:45 and our families pray in our homes. 25:49 Then comes the Isha time, and shortly 25:52 after, we receive refreshment again 25:54 before we rest for the night. We 25:58 shouldn't be staying up late, talking, 26:00 and wasting our time. Likewise, as dawn 26:04 approaches, we have not truly enjoyed 26:07 our sleep. How could we be fresh and 26:10 energetic in the morning? When our 26:14 bodies and souls should be resting, we 26:17 end up spending that time on useless 26:20 work and conversation. This truly 26:23 violates the laws of God (sunatullah). 26:26 This is one of the things that causes 26:28 people stress, leaving them unprepared 26:31 to face their work during the day. Not 26:34 only is their body weak, but their soul 26:37 is also restless. After the call to 26:43 prayer, before we face Allah, Allah 26:45 invites us to purify ourselves, washing 26:48 our faces, our hands, wiping our hair, 26:51 and our feet. Everything carries a very 26:55 beautiful symbolic meaning. Purifying 26:59 our faces so that we stand before Allah 27:01 with a completely pure countenance as 27:03 we approach Him. Praying to Allah to 27:06 cleanse the sins we have committed with 27:08 our eyes. Our tongues, our hearing, so 27:13 that it is not only outwardly but also 27:16 inwardly, right? Our souls are cleansed 27:19 . Then, the hands, full of sins and 27:22 mistakes, we pray to Allah to purify 27:24 them. Then asking for guidance to use 27:27 those hands to perform deeds that 27:30 please Allah. Then wiping our heads, 27:34 praying that Allah cleanses what is in 27:36 our heads and our hearts from whispers 27:38 and demonic disturbances. Our two feet 27:42 that we use to step through our life's 27:45 journey, we pray to Allah to cleanse 27:48 them of their sins, then place them on 27:51 the path that Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala 27:53 is pleased with. Only then do we turn 27:57 to face Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. When 28:01 we begin our prayer, it starts after 28:03 our intention with Allahu Akbar. This 28:07 Allahu Akbar makes all the heavy 28:10 burdens of life, the challenges, and 28:12 the trials dissolve and disappear. 28:16 Because we truly internalize the 28:18 greatness and majesty of Allah 28:19 Subhanahu wa ta'ala. Then we recite 28:23 Suratul Fatihah. After seeking refuge, 28:27 we recite Bismillahi-r-Rahmani-r-Rahim. 28:32 With Bismillahi-r-Rahmani-r-Rahim, as 28:35 we stand reciting this beautiful 28:37 opening, we are connected to Allah, the 28:40 Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. It 28:45 also reminds us that all our work is 28:47 done solely for Allah. In the name of 28:50 Allah, just as the universe operates in 28:53 the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, 28:56 the Most Merciful. We unite with the 28:58 entire universe. Uniting with it as a 29:02 servant who comes to answer the call of 29:04 Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. Pouring out 29:09 our hearts and our hopes completely to 29:12 Allah. It is different for one who is 29:17 connected to Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, 29:19 the Rahman and the Rahim. Compared to 29:22 someone who has no hope. If one focuses 29:26 their attention and heart on something 29:29 that does not exist, it differs from 29:31 one who focuses their attention, mind, 29:34 and heart on Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, 29:36 the Creator. After 29:39 Bismillahi-r-Rahmani-r-Rahim, comes 29:42 Alhamdulillahi Rabbil 'Alamin. This is 29:45 what every believer will say who truly 29:48 feels the overflow of His blessings 29:51 upon them. Likewise, the entire 29:54 universe acknowledges that He is the 29:56 only one worthy of all praise. 29:58 Everything that comes from Allah is 30:00 goodness, while evil stems from our own 30:03 behavior and deeds, and the deeds of 30:06 fellow humans. Then, after Allah 30:10 explains He is Rabbil' Alamin, Allah 30:12 reiterates to remind us that He 30:14 nurtures and cares for the universe 30:17 with His two names, Ar-Rahman and 30:19 Ar-Rahim. He never, ever oppresses His 30:23 servants. He is not unjust to His 30:26 servants. But humans oppress themselves 30:28 by abandoning the guidance, 30:29 instructions, and light of Allah. Then, 30:33 they are reminded that life is not just 30:35 for this worldly existence. Maliki 30:39 Yawmiddin. Every time they recite this 30:41 verse, they are reminded that this 30:44 worldly life is not everything. This 30:46 short and brief worldly life is the 30:49 path toward the eternal life. Maliki 30:53 Yawmiddin. Just as He is the one who 30:55 granted us all this, He is the one who 30:57 will judge us with His mercy and love. 31:01 Therefore, the only path of hope for us 31:03 is through "Iyyaka na'budu wa iyyaka 31:05 nasta'in." You alone, O Allah, we 31:07 worship. You alone, O Allah, we ask for 31:10 help. When a servant looks only to 31:14 Allah, and seeks help only from Allah. 31:20 How, then, will Allah Subhanahu wa 31:21 ta'ala treat them? If they associate 31:25 partners with Allah, Allah will entrust 31:27 them to whatever they associated with 31:29 Him. But when he fully turns himself 31:32 toward Allah, "iyaka nabudu iyaka 31:34 nastain," then Allah will step in to 31:37 resolve all his affairs, will help him, 31:40 will raise his status, and honor the 31:42 person who makes Allah the only one 31:45 worshipped and the only one to whom he 31:48 seeks help. He does not have to go far 31:51 anywhere. He does not have to, at all, 31:55 what? go through intermediaries that 31:57 will only become a burden to him. He 32:00 does not have to wait for a specific 32:02 time; whenever he mentions the name of 32:03 Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, Allah 32:05 Subhanahu wa ta'ala will welcome him. 32:07 Allah is in his heart. Allah will never 32:10 leave him. But the moment he leaves 32:13 Allah, replacing Him with something 32:15 other than Allah, then Allah will let 32:18 him be with the replacement he made for 32:20 Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. Iyaka 32:24 na'budu wa iyaka nastain. Try to absorb 32:27 the meaning of each verse we read. Then 32:30 ask for His guidance. Ihdinasiratal 32:32 mustaqim. Because humans are so easily 32:35 deceived by the devil with his whispers 32:38 . Ultimately seeing the wrong as right, 32:40 and the right as wrong. Show us, O 32:43 Allah, the straight path. Not just show 32:46 us, but guide us, lead us, and 32:48 strengthen us to walk upon that 32:50 straight path. Shirathalladzina anamta 32:54 alaihim ghairil maghdubi alaihim 32:56 waladh-dhallin. The path of those who 32:58 have received blessings and grace from 33:01 You, O Allah. Not the path of those who 33:04 have incurred Your wrath nor the path 33:05 of those who have gone astray. Those 33:08 who incur the wrath of Allah or stray 33:10 from the path of Allah will never be 33:12 safe or happy. So who are those who 33:14 have received grace from Allah? Waman 33:17 yuti'illaha warasula fa-ula-ika 33:19 ma'alladzina an'amallahu alaihim 33:21 minan-nabiyyina was-shiddiqina 33:23 wash-shuhada-i wash-shalihin. Whoever 33:26 obeys Allah and His messenger, they are 33:29 with those who have received blessings 33:32 from Allah: the prophets, the truthful, 33:35 the martyrs, and the righteous. This is 33:38 Surah Al-Fatihah. A surah that Allah 33:41 revealed for us, which contains the 33:43 word of Allah, but within it, there are 33:45 teachings for us on how to communicate 33:47 with Allah in the way that Allah chose. 33:51 So, Al-Fatihah is the word of Allah. 33:53 But in these verses, Allah teaches us 33:57 how we begin our communication with 34:01 Allah. With Surah Al-Fatihah alone, if 34:05 we absorb it, we will achieve good 34:07 fortune, safety in this world and the 34:09 hereafter. Surah Al-Fatihah, known as 34:13 As-Sab'ul Matsani, is actually the 34:15 essence of the Qur'an. All the verses 34:18 of the Qur'an serve as an explanation 34:20 of that Surah Al-Fatihah. Walaqad 34:22 atainaka sab'an minal matsani wal 34:24 qur'anal 'adzim. Now, Kang Rizal, 34:28 imagine if we pray in the mosque, pray 34:31 in our homes, perform nawafil prayers, 34:34 we focus ourselves, and our attention 34:38 is directed toward Allah. We train 34:43 ourselves to truly prioritize Allah 34:45 over everything else, and only then can 34:48 we truly perform meditation, focusing 34:51 our thoughts and hearts entirely on 34:53 Allah. If Allah is what? Is the one we 35:01 love most in this life. Because once we 35:04 love, love will draw us to what we love 35:06 , which will make us remember it often 35:08 and mention it constantly. It is not 35:12 that we love the world to the point 35:15 that those nurtured by it—the 35:17 officials, the rulers, and those gifted 35:19 by the world we love—draw our 35:21 attention. But what we love is Allah, 35:25 Lord of the heavens, the earth, and 35:26 everything between them. Whose status 35:32 is far above all these things, for He 35:34 is the One who brought them into 35:36 existence. They do not exist on their 35:39 own. They were brought into being by 35:41 Allah, and what they possess is a gift 35:43 from Allah. Why, then, is our attention 35:45 and our love not directed toward Allah 35:47 Ta'ala? For that reason, Allah 35:49 describes the nature of a believer. 35:52 Innamal mukminunalladina dhukirallahu 35:55 wajilat qulubuhum. Indeed, those who 35:58 truly believe are those whose hearts 36:00 tremble when the name of Allah is 36:02 mentioned. This*wajal*does not just 36:05 describe fear, but also longing, 36:07 respect, and awe of Allah. Waidza 36:10 tuliyat alaihim ayatuhu zadathum imana. 36:13 And when His verses are recited to them 36:16 , it increases their faith. Wa' ala 36:19 rabbihim yatawakkalun, and it 36:21 encourages them to rely solely upon 36:23 their Lord. Alladzina yuqimunas-salah, 36:28 they are those who establish prayer. 36:31 Wamimma razaqnahum yunfiqun. And they 36:35 spend from what We have provided for 36:37 them. Ulaika humul mukminuna haqqo 36:41 lahum darajatun 'ind rabbihim wa 36:44 maghfiratun wa rizqun karim. They are 36:47 the ones who are truly believers. Allah 36:51 has prepared for them forgiveness and a 36:53 noble provision. If we internalize 36:58 these verses, we can truly feel their 37:01 application in our prayer. 37:07 In prayer, which is a spiritual 37:09 meditation where the believer’s focus 37:12 is directed toward Allah. Therefore, 37:16 they pour out the contents of their 37:18 hearts to Him. Then they also recite 37:22 the verses of Allah during prayer and 37:24 rely only upon Him. And if we notice, 37:28 Kang Rizal, the practice that 37:30 encompasses our entire existence is 37:33 prayer. Because we are not just 37:37 reflecting or focusing our attention, 37:40 but also, what else? In rhythm with 37:45 what we recite, our bodies follow along 37:47 . From when we stand tall, truly 37:53 listening to Allah's commandments and 37:56 guidance, ready to carry them out. Then 38:00 we bow, as a symbol of obedience and 38:03 submission. Yes. 38:06 Then we return to our original position 38:07 . After that, we prostrate before His 38:10 greatness and majesty. Allah lets our 38:13 foreheads—the most noble part of us 38:15 —touch the ground, showing our 38:18 humility and submission solely to Allah 38:20 Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. It is the image of 38:26 a believer who only prostrates to Allah 38:29 , submits to Allah, and will not bow or 38:32 prostrate to any other. If he respects 38:37 someone, his respect is for the sake of 38:39 Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. He serves 38:43 his parents or loves his family, 38:45 raising his children with deep love; 38:48 everything is done for the sake of 38:50 Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. So, in the 38:53 end, what does it all amount to? 38:55 Everything comes from Allah and returns 38:58 to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. If we 39:02 want to internalize this, Kang Rizal. 39:07 It does not make prayer a practice that 39:11 leaves us with ill feelings toward our 39:15 brothers. Suspecting the deeds 39:19 performed by our brothers. We pray, 39:21 each of us turning our faces toward 39:23 Allah. Reciting Surah Al-Fatihah, and 39:26 reciting short surahs as well. so that 39:32 it does not become a burden is a very 39:33 good thing. The important thing is to 39:35 humble ourselves. Absorb the verses 39:38 within Al-Fatihah. Then also absorb the 39:42 verses we recite after Surah Al-Fatihah 39:44 . Such as reciting Surah Al-Kafirun, 39:48 reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas. Inside them 39:50 are beautiful lessons showing our 39:52 loyalty to Allah and detachment from 39:54 anything other than Allah subhanahu wa 39:57 ta'ala. So it's not just us getting 40:03 engrossed in listening to a qari recite 40:05 long verses of the Qur'an which instead 40:07 distracts our attention from Allah. But 40:11 we should recite them with full 40:13 humility, absorbing the greatness, 40:15 majesty, mercy, and love of Allah for 40:17 all of us. Now, why do many Muslims, 40:21 even ustads and ustadzahs, turn to 40:23 meditation like those done by Buddhists 40:26 —not to belittle them? They are 40:29 seeking tranquility, which is a good 40:30 and noble thing. But, does Islam not 40:34 teach us a way of meditation that 40:37 invites us to focus our attention, our 40:40 thoughts, our feelings toward Allah, 40:43 which will free us from worldly 40:46 shackles, reminding us that worldly 40:49 life is just a path to the eternal 40:52 afterlife? But it is a great pity that 40:56 prayer has currently lost its meaning 40:59 and spirit. Only its shell and form 41:02 remain, while the essence is gone from 41:05 us all. So let us, together with the 41:08 congregation, realize that what I have 41:10 conveyed is just a small part of the 41:12 practice of prayer. Try to absorb and 41:14 reflect on it. Hopefully, you will soon 41:17 escape from the shackles of this 41:19 worldly life that truly suffocate us. 41:24 Freed from all this, unified with the 41:26 universe. We glorify, praise, and 41:29 magnify Allah, expressing gratitude 41:31 from a truly sincere heart. Not just a 41:37 routine and mantras we recite, but what 41:39 comes out of our mouths matches what is 41:41 in our hearts. Wallahu'alam (Allah 41:44 knows best). 41:45 Very well, Ustadz. Thank you for the 41:48 explanation on how Islam views 41:49 meditation, Ustadz. Yes. So in prayer, 41:54 there is indeed contemplation, then 41:57 muraqabah, Ustadz, and dhikrullah. 42:01 And that should be a cure for us, 42:04 Ustadz. But many say, especially young 42:07 people, Ustadz, 42:09 for example, with 10 minutes of 42:11 breathing meditation I become calm, but 42:15 they say prayer feels ordinary and 42:17 their minds still wander everywhere, 42:20 Ustadz. So, where does the mistake lie, 42:23 Ustadz? Especially for young people 42:25 like that, Ustadz. 42:26 Correct. We can understand this. 42:28 Because they learn prayer only up to 42:32 its shell. 42:34 Yes. 42:35 Only learning prayer, its shell and its 42:38 form. While its soul is missing from 42:41 the prayer. The spirit of prayer is 42:44 precisely to humble ourselves and focus 42:47 our attention. Likewise, our feelings 42:50 must be directed toward Allah. If they 42:53 can meditate and humble themselves, 42:56 then in prayer, their entire being— 42:59 not just their tongue, not just their 43:02 mind, not just their heart, but their 43:05 body too—all of them...Are in line 43:07 with what is in their heart and their 43:10 mind. Try when bowing in ruku, feel it, 43:15 yes, be silent, focus yourself, and 43:18 absorb the glorification of Allah 43:20 Ta'ala. The same applies when rising 43:23 from ruku, saying, "Sami'allahu liman 43:25 hamidah." Then you prostrate, absorbing 43:28 and internalizing the position of 43:30 prostration before Allah, showing 43:32 humbleness and submission. Then recite, 43:36 "Subhana rabbiyal a'la wabihamdih."" 43:39 Subhana rabbiyal a'la wabihamdih." Do 43:42 not rush. If you have not yet felt the 43:46 joy of prostration with three tasbih 43:48 while praying alone, 43:50 add 5, 10, or 15. 43:54 We will truly feel an incredibly 43:56 beautiful sensation. When my heart is 44:00 restless or anxious, I perform wudu, 44:04 enter prayer, then prolong my ruku and 44:08 sujud. Yes, gradually, a heart that was 44:11 once parched and dry begins to soften. 44:15 What was once dark becomes bright, and 44:17 the heart connects with Allah. At that 44:20 moment, what do we truly feel? An 44:23 atmosphere that cannot be obtained from 44:25 all the various pleasures and 44:26 enjoyments of this world. Therefore, 44:29 ustads need to truly teach their 44:32 children from a young age. When you 44:37 pray, feel that you are speaking to 44:39 Allah. It is not just about keeping our 44:43 recitation correct according to the 44:45 rules of tajwid. Nor is it just about 44:48 our physical movements being in 44:50 accordance with jurisprudence (fiqh). 44:52 Yes. 44:52 But we should absorb the meaning behind 44:54 our movements. The meaning also from 44:57 when we purify ourselves, washing our 45:00 faces, our hands, then wiping our heads 45:03 and our feet. But it is a great pity, 45:08 if we observe social media and our 45:10 da'wah channels, there is almost no 45:13 explanation regarding this matter. The 45:17 focus is only on what? The methods of 45:21 performing those rituals. Then, one 45:24 group attacks another. They claim that 45:27 their practice is the most in 45:29 accordance with the Prophet's sunnah. 45:31 Yet, when they pray, their hearts are 45:33 heedless of Allah. If their hearts were 45:36 with Allah, they would never utter 45:38 unkind words. Prayer begins with takbir 45:41 and ends with salam. Coming out of 45:43 prayer, they should spread peace (salam 45:44 ). But why is it that the more they 45:47 pray, and the darker their forehead 45:50 gets, 45:51 the worse their character becomes? If 45:54 they truly pray, their hearts will be 45:57 closer to Allah. If Allah is Most 46:01 Merciful and Compassionate to His 46:03 servants, then as a servant connected 46:05 to Allah, feeling His mercy, how could 46:07 they not show mercy to those around 46:09 them? No longer acting as a judge, but 46:13 inviting others with love and affection 46:15 . So, students who perform prayers 46:18 depend on how their teachers teach them 46:20 . If the teacher's heart is parched, 46:23 the student will not feel the beauty. 46:25 Whereas when they encounter someone 46:27 practicing meditation, they feel a 46:29 sense of gentleness. Like one person 46:32 said to me, "Ustad, why is it when I 46:35 meet uh, with people from Buddhist 46:39 circles, their monks? I feel they are 46:44 so soothing, so calm." But when I meet 46:49 a cleric, a Muslim, why do I hear 46:53 judgment instead? 46:55 Hm. Their faces, their gazes, lack the 46:59 gentleness found in others. So, do not 47:03 blame Islam or its teachings. But I 47:06 worry for those who go astray in their 47:09 deeds, yet consider themselves the best 47:12 of people. "Say, shall We tell you who 47:15 the greatest losers are? Those whose 47:18 efforts have been wasted in this life, 47:20 while they think that they are 47:21 acquiring good by their deeds." Imagine 47:24 , Kang Rizal, when the Prophet was 47:27 troubled, as the time for prayer 47:29 approached, he would say to Bilal, " 47:32 Give us peace and relief through it, O 47:35 Bilal." By calling the Adhan. 47:38 When facing severe trials, the Prophet 47:41 would rush to prayer, saying, "The 47:44 thing I love most in this life, the 47:47 most important thing, is prayer.""And 47:50 the coolness of my eyes is in prayer." 47:53 But sadly, most of us do not understand 47:55 prayer. It seems like a burden, like 47:58 shackles. "Hear the Adhan, prayer again 48:00 , prayer again." Whereas in reality, 48:02 what is it? A warm invitation from 48:05 Allah to pour out our hearts and 48:07 complaints to Him, and Allah is ready 48:09 to welcome us and resolve them. But we 48:14 leave Allah and instead do things that 48:16 make our lives even heavier. So do not 48:21 blame our children who are currently 48:23 trying to find something that gives 48:26 them peace. Only Allah knows best. 48:28 Very well, Ustaz. I have two questions 48:30 to combine, Ustaz. Many mental health 48:33 experts are promoting mindfulness as a 48:35 technique to focus on the present 48:38 moment. Now, this is done without 48:40 involving the concept of God. If we 48:43 adopt just the focus technique, Ustaz, 48:45 without the mantras or rituals, and 48:48 replace the focus with remembering 48:50 Allah, Ustaz, the concept of muraqabah. 48:54 Is that permissible in Islamic law, or 48:57 must we be completely sterile from 49:00 outside methods? One more thing, what 49:04 about sound healing, Ustaz? It's trendy 49:07 to listen to brainwave sounds, specific 49:10 music frequencies, or nature sounds for 49:12 meditation before sleep to reduce 49:15 stress. If we listen to sounds like 49:19 that to calm our thoughts, and not for 49:23 a ritual, what is the ruling? We can't 49:27 listen to Murattal 24 hours a day, 49:28 after all. That is all, Ustaz. 49:32 In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious 49:33 , the Most Merciful. When a person 49:36 performs dhikr outside of prayer, 49:40 actually, what is the correct way to 49:44 perform dhikr? Allah says, "O you who 49:50 have believed, remember Allah with much 49:51 remembrance, and exalt Him morning 49:54 and afternoon.""O you who believe, 49:58 remember Allah often." But now, dhikr 50:01 has become just a mere mention. He 50:04 Dhikr with the tongue. Whereas dhikr is 50:07 actually a state of the heart, not a 50:09 state of the tongue. The tongue only 50:12 expresses what is in the heart and in 50:14 the mind. So remember Allah with your 50:18 mind, yes, with your heart. Remember 50:22 Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala as much as 50:25 possible and exalt Him morning and 50:28 evening. What does it mean to exalt Him 50:31 ? That we truly distance Allah 50:34 Subhanahu wa ta'ala from attributes 50:37 that are not worthy of Him. He is the 50:40 most holy, the most glorious, the most 50:42 perfect, the most beautiful, and the 50:45 most magnificent. Now, when he focuses, 50:49 say during Dhikr, reciting Subhanallah, 50:55 Subhanallah, Alhamdulillah, 50:58 Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar, Allahu 51:02 Akbar. He recites it while 51:04 internalizing the meaning. 51:07 Not like what we often see right after 51:09 finishing prayer. Subhanallah, 51:11 Subhanallah, Subhanallah, Subhanallah. 51:13 What we say is not accompanied by our 51:15 hearts and our minds. How could it ever 51:18 leave an impression? 51:20 So, it's not just about chasing a 51:22 target of one million. 51:25 Sometimes when we are at the mosque, we 51:28 might rush our prayers, especially 51:30 silent prayers. 51:33 We’ve barely recited two verses and 51:35 we're already bowing and prostrating. 51:37 Isn't that right? 51:38 Even though, what is our goal? Wa 51:40 aqimisshalata lidzikri. Establish 51:42 prayer so that you always remember Me. 51:45 So we want the Imam to recite 51:47 Al-Fatihah slowly and thoughtfully 51:49 during prayer. There are times when we 51:52 listen to the Imam, and times when each 51:54 person recites on their own. Establish 51:58 prayer to always remember, for truly 52:01 successful are those who purify 52:04 themselves and remember their Lord, 52:07 then pray. So, the focus required here 52:10 isn't just saying Subhanallah, 52:12 Subhanallah, especially if we are 52:15 shouting while shaking our heads— 52:17 Subhanallah, Subhanallah—with the 52:19 excuse that it keeps the devil away. 52:22 This is a method not practiced by the 52:24 Prophet, his family, or his companions. 52:27 But calm down, try to train yourself to 52:30 focus your attention and your feelings. 52:33 Subhanallah. Subhanallah. Until what 52:36 happens? We don't feel boredom, only 52:38 beauty. The more we praise and thank 52:41 Allah while internalizing His grace, as 52:44 well as His greatness and majesty, the 52:47 more we will find extraordinary 52:50 happiness and beauty. A famous actor 52:55 like Jet Li. Jet Li is quite a famous 53:02 actor, both in China and in Hollywood. 53:08 Even his movements, his movements in 53:11 Kung Fu, 53:13 were used as what? As what, exactly? 53:18 Movements followed by so many people 53:21 who study Kung Fu. Even in the films 53:28 that they make, they take the movements 53:31 performed by Jet Li as what? As a 53:35 prototype. 53:36 Hmm. He reached the pinnacle of fame, 53:40 and also the pinnacle of wealth. Yet in 53:45 the end, he left it all behind because 53:48 he couldn't find peace, Rizal. Finally, 53:52 he started becoming a social worker. He 53:55 returned to his country to work in 53:57 social services, calling himself the 53:58 world's biggest beggar. He joined the 54:02 community to raise funds, even if it 54:04 was just one yuan. To invite everyone 54:07 to do what together? To share, to face 54:10 disasters, to face various challenges. 54:12 Once he received a significant amount 54:14 of money because people trusted him, he 54:16 would immediately spend it all to 54:18 provide aid to those in need. Until one 54:23 day, while working for the community, 54:25 he heard and discovered his daughter's 54:27 complaints, as she was suffering from 54:29 severe, overwhelming depression. 54:32 Depression that was extraordinarily 54:33 heavy. Right then, he realized he had 54:37 been caring for society and humanity, 54:38 but he had forgotten his own daughter. 54:40 He began to focus his attention on 54:43 supporting his daughter. Until his 54:46 daughter finally found a true refuge 54:48 and shelter in her father. May Allah 54:51 heal their illness. Yeah. 54:53 So, when he was on vacation with his 54:56 wife and two children in the Maldives, 54:59 a tsunami struck. In that moment, he 55:04 felt that he, who considered himself 55:07 strong, was actually helpless before 55:10 the tsunami. He survived, but from that 55:14 moment on, he realized his own weakness 55:16 . All the strength and pride he had 55:20 possessed all this time turned out to 55:22 be hollow and empty. 55:25 From then on, he began meditating to 55:28 find peace and happiness for himself. 55:34 If only he had discovered Islamic 55:36 guidance, absorbed and lived it out 55:39 properly, he might have become a better 55:41 person than many Muslims who have been 55:44 Muslim since birth but fail to feel the 55:47 beauty and majesty of Islamic teachings 55:49 . Islam doesn't just guide humans to 55:54 live well; it starts at the roots, from 55:56 the soul. From the soul, from the heart 56:00 that is purified, cleansed, and 56:02 straightened. From there, various 56:06 virtues and nobility are born, leading 56:09 them to become people who spread mercy 56:12 to those around them. So, Brother Risal 56:16 , this emphasis on the community is 56:18 very important. Regarding the heart, 56:21 Allah says, "Wa nafsin wa sawwaha, 56:24 fa-alhamaha fujuraha wa taqwaha." Who 56:28 is the successful one? "Qad aflaha man 56:29 zakkaha wa qad khaba man dassaha," 56:31 truly successful is the one who 56:33 purifies it. Purifying the soul by 56:36 always remembering Allah, holding onto 56:38 Him, hoping in Him, seeking refuge in 56:41 Him, following His guidance, and doing 56:43 good deeds will purify the soul until 56:46 all actions are done not for 56:47 self-interest, but solely to seek 56:49 Allah's pleasure. Now, if we can do 56:55 this, God willing, our youth and our 56:58 society will undergo a transformation. 57:01 We encounter those expected to uphold 57:04 truth and justice as leaders, only to 57:06 find them betraying their trust once 57:08 they are given office. Why? Because 57:11 their religion and faith have not 57:12 reached their hearts. They only pray 57:15 outwardly. But their hearts do not pray 57:17 . They speak the name of Allah with 57:20 their mouths, but their hearts do not 57:22 remember Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. 57:25 What about the sound healing earlier, 57:27 Ustaz? 57:27 Regarding sound healing, know that this 57:32 universe is full of works of art. Not 57:37 just visual art, but the art of sound. 57:41 Back when I lived in Jakarta, before it 57:44 was so crowded. When I would lie down 57:50 and listen to the sounds—the rustling 57:54 of banana leaves, 57:57 as well as the trickling of water 57:59 flowing over stones. We would sleep 58:02 during the day without AC, yet we felt 58:06 peace and happiness, sounds that 58:09 touched the heart—that made the heart 58:14 peaceful, calm, and one with nature. 58:16 Not noisy sounds, 58:18 sounds that actually create anxiety and 58:21 restlessness. Therefore, there is 58:25 research regarding the influence of 58:27 sound on the human soul. They found 58:32 that, indeed, pounding music—these 58:35 pounding songs, like rock music and 58:39 such, often lead people to commit acts 58:43 of violence. And even suicide. 58:47 Meanwhile, soft songs that are truly 58:51 soulful can soften a heart that was 58:54 once hardened. To the point that Sheikh 58:58 Muhammad Ghazali said, "Sometimes when 59:01 I am not in a state of khusyuk (deep 59:03 focus), 59:05 when I feel hard-hearted and restless, 59:08 I listen to the verses of Allah recited 59:10 with truly soulful recitation." Not 59:14 just beautiful-sounding recitations, 59:17 but those recited with such sincerity 59:19 that they touch the heart. Sometimes 59:23 listening to children dhikr to Allah 59:26 Subhanahu wa Ta'ala or gazing at gentle 59:28 , beautiful natural scenery makes a 59:31 hard heart soften. He even once said, " 59:36 Once I listened to a soft, beautiful 59:39 song, touching with its meaning and 59:42 words so beautiful, it made my heart, 59:45 which was once hard, instantly soften." 59:50 Therefore, we do not forbid all forms 59:53 of vocal art and music. What we forbid 59:58 is music, sounds, and songs that lead 1:00:01 humans toward sin and vile acts, using 1:00:05 inappropriate language. As for those 1:00:09 that touch the soul, like rhythmic 1:00:11 salawat with soft music, that is 1:00:12 different. The same applies to reciting 1:00:16 Asmaul Husna, as we hear in some 1:00:18 people's recitations. Human beings 1:00:21 crave beauty in their souls. Allah 1:00:24 created humans beautifully and 1:00:26 perfectly. They also crave beauty in 1:00:28 what they see and what they hear. We 1:00:31 sit by the river, watching how the 1:00:33 water touches the large rocks and the 1:00:35 sound of the gentle splashes. We also 1:00:38 witness the fish swimming beneath the 1:00:40 surface. Whether it is the scenery or 1:00:42 the sound, we experience something 1:00:44 truly beautiful. So there are those who 1:00:46 say, "If you want a long life, try 1:00:48 looking at green things, 1:00:51 at beautiful things." But people in the 1:00:54 capital city, witnessing various 1:00:55 stressful scenes—what does that do? 1:00:59 Even if they live long, their lives 1:01:01 feel short. Why is that? They do not 1:01:04 feel the enjoyment in what they do. 1:01:06 Abundant wealth and luxury vehicles all 1:01:09 become futile. Except for those whose 1:01:13 hearts always remember Allah, united 1:01:15 with a nature that glorifies Him, 1:01:17 singing in harmony to praise His 1:01:19 greatness and majesty. 1:01:22 Alright, Ustaz. One last one? 1:01:23 One more. Go ahead. 1:01:24 Alright. Uh, Ustaz, in the midst of 1:01:27 current economic conditions—economic 1:01:29 conditions that we often hear are very 1:01:32 difficult for many people, Ustaz. 1:01:34 Especially in Indonesia. There is a 1:01:36 question like this, Ustaz. Very often, 1:01:39 when people end up affected by such 1:01:42 things, they experience depression, 1:01:45 anxiety, or panic attacks, Ustaz. 1:01:48 Society immediately labels them, "Oh, 1:01:50 this is because they lack prayer or 1:01:53 faith, Ustaz." Even though mental 1:01:55 health is also part of the body's 1:01:57 organs and can get sick too. So, what 1:02:00 is the Quran's view, the Islamic view, 1:02:02 on correcting such misconceptions, 1:02:04 Ustaz? So that people don't feel more 1:02:07 pressured in these times, Ustaz, when 1:02:09 stigmatized with, "Well, that’s 1:02:10 because you don’t pray enough, your 1:02:12 faith is weak." What do you say about 1:02:14 that, Ustaz? 1:02:15 In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious 1:02:16 , the Most Merciful. Rabbana zidna 1:02:18 ilman warzuqna fahma. Allahumma ahdina 1:02:22 subulasalam wa akhrijna minazzulumati 1:02:24 ilan-nuur, wahdina ila shirathikal 1:02:26 mustaqim. If we live our lives 1:02:32 separated from Allah, disconnected from 1:02:34 Allah, the light will become heavy. And 1:02:38 the heavy will become even heavier. 1:02:41 What is bright will become dark, let 1:02:43 alone what is already dark. We feel as 1:02:47 if we are drifting in the middle of an 1:02:49 uncertain storm. Sometimes we are 1:02:53 thrown from a high place into an abyss, 1:02:56 desperate, losing all hope. Why? 1:03:00 Because Allah is not in our hearts. 1:03:03 What does it mean to pray dozens of 1:03:05 rak'ahs or even recite the Quran with a 1:03:07 beautiful voice if Allah is not in our 1:03:09 hearts? 1:03:11 Yes. In facing life's trials, which one 1:03:17 is heavier than Sayyidah Hajar’s? In 1:03:22 a desolate valley, surrounded by hills 1:03:25 and rocks, without any vegetation or 1:03:27 water, but did she lose hope? When 1:03:34 Ibrahim was commanded by Allah to leave 1:03:36 his wife and child, the wife asked, " 1:03:38 Did Allah command you to do this?" 1:03:42 Ibrahim answered, "Na'am, Allahu 1:03:45 amaroni.""Yes, Allah commanded me." The 1:03:49 wife beamed with joy even though she 1:03:51 was left in a desolate valley, 1:03:52 surrounded by hills and rocks with no 1:03:55 means of life. When she heard that 1:03:58 Allah had commanded it, she did not 1:04:00 feel discouraged. Once she ran out of 1:04:06 supplies and water, she performed sa'i. 1:04:09 Meaning, she made an effort between 1:04:11 Safa and Marwa. Sa'i in Arabic doesn't 1:04:14 just mean jogging. 1:04:15 Because sa'a yasa'a means to strive or 1:04:17 make an effort. As'a means I am 1:04:20 striving. So the word' usaha '(effort) 1:04:23 is actually taken from Arabic, like' 1:04:24 iklan '(advertisement). So' iklan '... 1:04:28 because the' ain 'is difficult to 1:04:30 pronounce. So' as'a 'means I am 1:04:33 striving. She strove to fulfill her 1:04:37 duty as a servant, as Allah commanded, 1:04:39 striving between Safa and Marwa to seek 1:04:42 . Perhaps a caravan was passing by, or 1:04:45 perhaps there was a spring. 1:04:49 When she had exhausted all her efforts, 1:04:51 she surrendered it to Allah. "O Allah, 1:04:53 I have fulfilled my duty to strive.""I 1:04:58 entrust all my hopes, everything, to 1:05:01 You, O Allah." Allah sent His angel to 1:05:05 bring food. Then in the narrations, 1:05:09 some say it was Gabriel who struck his 1:05:12 wing, causing the Zamzam spring to gush 1:05:14 forth, which flows to this day in the 1:05:17 middle of a valley where it might only 1:05:19 rain once a year. Just imagine, Kang 1:05:24 Rizal. Life emerged so quickly. As soon 1:05:28 as the spring began to flow, caravans 1:05:31 saw birds gathering at the water source 1:05:35 , 1:05:36 which invited them to come to that 1:05:38 place. They found a woman with her 1:05:41 child in that place. They asked for 1:05:45 permission to settle there. It 1:05:47 developed until today, from barren land 1:05:49 into the most expensive and honorable 1:05:51 land in the world. So, how did they 1:05:54 live their lives? Far from agriculture, 1:05:59 far from the material means of life. 1:06:03 But for Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, it 1:06:06 is easy to open what is closed, to shed 1:06:09 light on what was previously hopeless. 1:06:13 Allah's mercy encompasses everything. 1:06:15 Did Allah not say, "Warahmati wasiat 1:06:18 kulai.""My mercy encompasses everything 1:06:20 ." Actually, His mercy is upon us all, 1:06:23 whether the market is busy or quiet. 1:06:27 Even if the market is busy, without 1:06:29 Allah's mercy, we would not enjoy that 1:06:32 bustle. 1:06:33 Right? 1:06:33 Right? 1:06:35 So, place our hopes in Allah. Instead 1:06:38 of running away from Allah, let us draw 1:06:41 closer to Him. If we previously prayed 1:06:44 without feeling it, make our prayer a 1:06:47 medium of communication. Pour out our 1:06:50 hearts to Allah with "iyaka na'budu wa 1:06:52 iyaka nastain." How could Allah not 1:06:55 open up hope for us all? I have felt it 1:06:59 since I was a child, then studying in 1:07:02 Egypt, living there, I truly felt 1:07:05 Allah's hand directly providing help 1:07:09 for me. When I arrived in Egypt, I had 1:07:13 nothing, hoping I would receive a 1:07:16 scholarship. As it turned out, the 1:07:18 scholarship was rejected. A year later, 1:07:21 I stayed in my friend's room who lived 1:07:24 there. Because I did not have 1:07:27 permission, I stayed in the room, did 1:07:29 not leave the dormitory, and cooked for 1:07:31 my friends. Various trials, but with 1:07:35 great hope in Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala 1:07:37 . Until the following year, we were 1:07:40 able to join the school at Al-Azhar 1:07:42 with a small scholarship. Meanwhile, 1:07:46 the dollar had soared in Indonesia, 1:07:49 from 300 Rupiah when I left to 1,000, 1:07:52 then 2,000 Rupiah; it was hard for our 1:07:55 parents to send provisions with the 1:07:57 cost of living at that time. Allah 1:08:02 allowed me to study there for 8 years 1:08:04 without returning home because I had no 1:08:06 money at all to return to my homeland. 1:08:11 By Allah's mercy, we could perform 1:08:12 Umrah, perform Hajj, and maintain 1:08:14 kinship ties, which were entirely by 1:08:16 the grace of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. 1:08:19 Returning to the homeland, I had no 1:08:24 support except for Allah alone. I 1:08:27 taught while hoping for Allah's mercy 1:08:29 without expecting payment from humans. 1:08:32 People said, "If we accept this Ustaz 1:08:35 as a son-in-law, what will our child's 1:08:38 future be like?" I was even rejected 1:08:41 two or three times when proposing. "But 1:08:45 this was not a..." Regret, but a lesson 1:08:48 . Never complain about Allah's choices. 1:08:53 Allah chooses the best for us. Even 1:08:55 when I wanted to marry, after Allah 1:08:58 gave us ease, we had nothing. Help came 1:09:01 from Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. We 1:09:04 rented a small house; we even sold our 1:09:06 wedding furniture just to be able to 1:09:08 pay the rent. Slowly, by Allah's mercy, 1:09:12 we were able to own a house. And until 1:09:15 now, I am someone who does not have 1:09:17 various savings in the bank. I have no 1:09:22 savings. If Allah gives us abundance, 1:09:25 we share it with our brothers whom 1:09:27 Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala makes it easy 1:09:29 for us to see in those who are in need. 1:09:33 But thank God, our hearts do not depend 1:09:36 on our savings, nor on conglomerates 1:09:39 offering help, or officials. This is 1:09:43 what makes our faith weak. Our hope 1:09:45 fades because we depend on created 1:09:47 beings. But place your life in the 1:09:48 hands of Allah. Then work hard, do good 1:09:50 deeds. Allah will not let the deeds of 1:09:52 those who do good go to waste. If I 1:09:54 work for the All-Rich Allah, how could 1:09:57 I fear being poor? If I work for the 1:10:00 Most Compassionate and Merciful Allah, 1:10:02 how could I lose His grace in this life 1:10:04 ? But if we depend on created beings, 1:10:07 do not feel secure. Amidst your 1:10:09 strength, you are weak; amidst your 1:10:11 wealth, you are poor. Even helpless to 1:10:14 do what? To buy health with the wealth 1:10:17 you possess or save your children and 1:10:19 family with your riches. But with Allah 1:10:22 , we can fulfill everything. Waallahi 1:10:25 fatawakalu in kuntum mukminin. Put your 1:10:29 trust only in Allah. If you are 1:10:31 believers, but do not forget to strive, 1:10:35 while leaving the rest to Allah. Just 1:10:38 like Allah’s servant, Hajar, who did 1:10:41 not lose heart. She became the reason 1:10:44 for the bustling holy city of Makkah 1:10:47 today through her devotion, sacrifice, 1:10:50 and surrender to Allah Subhanahu wa 1:10:52 ta'ala. Subhanakallahumma wabihamdik 1:10:55 ashadu alla ilaha illa anta astagfiruka 1:10:58 wa atubu ilaiik. 1:11:00 Alright, that is all for our study this 1:11:02 morning, brothers and sisters. 1:11:03 Reflections under the shade of the 1:11:05 Quran with our teacher, Ustaz Husein 1:11:06 Alatas. How does Islam view meditation, 1:11:09 Ustaz? Yes. And as explained by the 1:11:12 Ustaz earlier, how Islam is also very 1:11:14 concerned about the peace of our souls, 1:11:17 and how it addresses our innate needs, 1:11:18 Ustaz, yes. And may we, brothers and 1:11:21 sisters, draw ever closer to Allah, 1:11:23 through reflection, contemplation, and 1:11:25 remembering Allah as mentioned, Ustaz, 1:11:27 through our prayers, 1:11:29 through remembering Allah. Brothers and 1:11:31 sisters, finally, I, Rizal Haq, along 1:11:33 with my team on duty, Kang Oni and 1:11:35 Ustaz Algi, take our leave. 1:11:38 Wasalamualaikum warahmatullah. 1:11:39 Waalaikumsalam.
