0:29 Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be 0:33 upon you. All praise is due to Allah; 0:38 we praise Him, seek His help, and ask 0:41 for His forgiveness, and we seek refuge 0:43 in Allah from the evil of our souls and 0:46 the wickedness of our deeds. Whoever 0:50 Allah guides, none can lead astray. And 0:54 whoever He leads astray, none can guide 0:56 . I bear witness that there is no god 1:01 but Allah, alone without partner, and I 1:04 bear witness that our master Muhammad 1:07 is His servant and messenger. What 1:13 Allah wills happens, and what He does 1:15 not will does not happen; there is no 1:17 power nor strength except by Allah, the 1:20 Most High, the Almighty. To proceed. 1:25 Brothers and sisters, who are dearly 1:27 loved by Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. 1:30 Praise be to Allah, tonight we are once 1:34 again able to gather for our Quranic 1:38 word-for-word translation study. Last 1:44 Friday night, we reached the 16th verse 1:48 of Surah Al-Anfal. Tonight, we continue 1:55 with the subsequent verses, starting 1:57 from verse 17, until we approach the 2:02 Isha prayer later. For that, let us 2:06 begin our study tonight by reciting 2:08 together the prayer for seeking 2:11 knowledge. In the name of Allah, the 2:14 Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. O 2:16 Lord, increase me in knowledge. O Allah 2:19 , make useful what You have taught me, 2:22 teach me what will benefit me, and 2:23 provide me with knowledge that will 2:25 benefit me. Amen. We begin with verse 2:31 17, and we will read it along with the 2:38 18th verse as well, because they are 2:40 closely related. I seek refuge in Allah 2:44 from the accursed Satan. In the name of 2:51 Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most 2:53 Merciful. It was not you who killed 3:00 them, but it was Allah who killed them. 3:07 And it was not you who threw when you 3:11 threw, but it was Allah who threw, so 3:18 that He might test the believers with a 3:20 good test from Him. Indeed, Allah is 3:29 All-Hearing, All-Knowing. That is so, 3:35 and indeed Allah weakens the plot of 3:38 the disbelievers. The word-for-word 3:47 meaning is: "Falam taqtuluhum" means " 3:50 then you did not kill them."" 3:57 Walakinnallaha""but Allah" killed them. 4:06 "Wama romaita.""And you did not throw." 4:11 "Idz romaita" when you threw. " 4:17 Walakinnallaha" but Allah threw. " 4:24 Waliyubliyal mukminina" and so that He, 4:29 Allah, might test the believers. " 4:34 Liublia," its doer is "He," referring 4:37 back to Allah. "Almukminina" is the 4:41 object of "yubliya," read in the 4:43 accusative case. The accusative sign is 4:47 "ya" because it is a sound masculine 4:49 plural; "minhu" from Him. "Balaan" as a 4:54 test or with a test, "hasanan" which is 4:59 good. "Innallaha" indeed Allah is 5:07 All-Hearing, All-Knowing. "Dzalikum" 5:15 that is [the case], "wa anallaha" and 5:21 indeed Allah, and indeed Allah weakens 5:28 the disbelievers. Brothers and sisters, 5:34 this is still continuing the episode 5:36 regarding the Battle of Uhud, where 5:42 Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala describes— 5:47 excuse me—the Battle of Badr. Yes. 5:53 Allah describes how the victory was 5:57 achieved by the Muslims. In this verse, 6:05 Allah explains that when the Muslims 6:09 succeeded in killing the disbelievers, 6:13 in reality, it was not them who killed, 6:18 but it was Allah who killed. Likewise, 6:24 when the Messenger of Allah, peace and 6:26 blessings be upon him, threw or shot, 6:31 it was not him who threw, but Allah 6:35 Subhanahu wa Ta'ala who threw. In a 6:42 hadith, it is narrated that during the 6:45 Battle of Badr, the Messenger of Allah, 6:48 peace be upon him, threw a handful of 6:51 dirt while saying three times, "May the 7:01 faces be disgraced." Thus, that throw 7:06 brought about the defeat of the 7:08 disbelievers. Yes, so the One who 7:12 delivered it to the targets of the 7:16 throw was Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. It 7:22 is narrated in the hadith that the 7:25 angel Gabriel said to him, "Take a 7:28 handful of dirt and throw it into their 7:31 faces." So the Messenger of Allah 7:35 followed that advice. Then he threw the 7:41 dirt. And the dirt did not hit the 7:45 disbelievers except that...their eyes 7:51 became unable to see. also their noses 7:56 and mouths were covered by the dust 8:00 earlier, then they ran backwards. Wama 8:05 romaita id romaita walakinnallaha roma. 8:09 that all was so that Allah would 8:14 provide a good trial for the believers 8:19 and Allah willed to humiliate the 8:23 disbelievers. The next verse is the 8:29 19th. In tastaftihu faq jaakumul fath 8:44 wain tantahu fahua khairul lakum wain 8:51 ta'udu naudan tugniya fi'atukum saai in 9:12 intastaftihu. If you, O disbelievers, 9:18 ask for a decision faqad jaakumul fath 9:25 then the decision has come to you. Wa 9:32 tantahu. If you stop opposing the 9:39 Messenger of Allah fahua khairun, then 9:42 that is better lakum for all of you. 9:48 Wain taudu and if you return to 9:52 opposing the Messenger of Allah naud we 9:56 , Allah will return. Walan tugnia and 10:03 it will not benefit angkum for you. 10:10 Fiatukum your group or your army saian 10:16 at all. Walau katurat even if it is 10:22 numerous. Wa annallaha and indeed Allah 10:28 maal mukminin is with the believers. 10:34 Overall, if you ask for a decision, 10:39 then indeed the decision has come to 10:43 you. And if you stop opposing the 10:48 Messenger of Allah, then that is better 10:52 for you. And if you return to opposing 10:59 the Messenger of Allah, We will surely 11:03 return to help, and your army will not 11:08 be able to repel any harm from you at 11:12 all. Even if you are many in number, 11:19 indeed Allah is with the believers. Now 11:25 , so this is addressed to the 11:29 disbelievers. So if you, O disbelievers 11:37 , ask for victory from one of the two 11:41 armies, whichever is higher in degree 11:46 and more righteous, then indeed that 11:50 victory has come to you. And Allah has 11:57 truly helped one of the two that was 12:01 higher. Some scholars state this is as 12:10 a mockery to the disbelievers. So the 12:16 decision you asked for was decided by 12:18 Allah. What is the decision? Defeat. 12:24 Even though this is mentioned as if 12:28 they won. So, Allah has given a 12:34 decision to you, which is that you lost 12:38 . That is what you asked for. You asked 12:43 for a decision from Allah, yes, Allah 12:46 has decided. What is it? You lost. If 12:51 some say victory, that is just mockery. 12:55 You felt you won, but actually you lost 12:57 . Now, if you stop the hostility 13:04 towards the Messenger of Allah, yes 13:10 Allah states that is better for you. 13:15 But if you continue to oppose the 13:18 Messenger of Allah, then Allah will 13:21 defend the Messenger of Allah, and your 13:24 army, even if large, will be 13:27 meaningless. Because Allah will always 13:33 be with the believers. So, this is a 13:40 decision from Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala 13:45 . The disbelievers were decided to have 13:48 lost at the time of the Battle of Badr. 13:52 Next is verse 20. Ya ayyuhalladzina 14:02 amanu atiullaha wa rasulah. Atiullaha 14:11 wa rasulahu wala tawallau wa antum 14:18 tasmaun. Wala takunu kalladzina qalu 14:27 samina wahum laa yasmaun. Let us read 14:36 both verses at once, brothers. Ya 14:41 ayyuhalladzina amanu. O you who have 14:44 believed. Atiullah obey Allah. Wa 14:51 rasulahu and His Messenger. Wala 14:55 tawallau and do not turn away anhu from 15:00 Allah from Him. Wa antum tasmaun, while 15:06 you are listening. Wala takunu. And do 15:12 not be like those who say, "We have 15:17 heard"(we believe), "wa hum la yasmaun" 15:23 (while in fact they do not believe). 15:31 Overall, from these two verses, verse 15:35 20: "O you who have believed, obey 15:39 Allah and His Messenger and do not turn 15:43 from him while you are hearing. And do 15:51 not be like the hypocrites who say, 'We 15:58 have heard.'" Even though they do not 16:05 listen because their hearts deny it. 16:12 These are, my brothers and sisters, the 16:17 threats given by Allah to the 16:23 hypocrites who are commanded by Allah 16:32 to listen and to obey, to believe, and 16:41 to follow Allah and His Messenger. Do 16:48 not turn away from Allah while you hear 16:54 what is commanded. So Allah states that 17:01 those who believe should follow the 17:04 call of the Messenger of Allah, peace 17:07 be upon him, to fulfill the call to 17:14 jihad, leaving behind wealth, leaving 17:18 behind family when Allah has commanded 17:22 it. Likewise, the Messenger of Allah 17:27 commanded us not to turn away from the 17:29 struggle. And indeed, this verse is 17:34 addressed to those who believe. Now, 17:40 then Allah states, "Do not be like 17:46 those who say we believe, we hear, but 17:52 we do not hear." Now, regarding this, 17:59 some say, who are they? Disbelievers 18:03 who hear the da'wah call of the 18:05 Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him. 18:09 But they continue to oppose. So they 18:13 hear but as if they do not hear. They 18:16 hear the da'wah of the Messenger that 18:20 Allah is One, and so on. That he is the 18:25 Messenger of Allah. That later in the 18:29 hereafter, people will receive rewards 18:32 according to what they did in the world 18:35 . They hear, but they act as if they do 18:38 not hear because they do not follow 18:41 what the Messenger conveyed. And others 18:46 say they are the hypocrites who often 18:51 listen to the teachings of the 18:53 Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him. 18:57 But as soon as they leave the presence 18:59 of the Messenger of Allah, peace be 19:00 upon him, what did they hear? They deny 19:04 it. They even say what was said earlier 19:09 . They pretend that they did not hear. 19:11 Let us not behave in that way. We hear 19:17 the Qur'an being recited every day, but 19:20 we do not implement its contents. Those 19:24 are the people who hear but it is as if 19:28 they do not hear. Every day they hear 19:33 the adhan but they do not perform it. 19:36 Those are the people who hear but in 19:39 reality do not hear. Now, for such 19:43 people, what happens next? We read both verses at once, 20:20 22 and 23. Inna syarrad-dawab. That is 20:25 the meaning of the recitation. Indeed, 20:27 the worst of living creatures or moving 20:31 beings indallahi in the sight of Allah, 20:35 who are they? Are the deaf. The mute. 20:49 Those who do not understand. Wa law ' 20:56 alima and if Allah knew fihim in them 21:02 khairan any good, la asma'ahum surely 21:05 Allah would have made them hear. If 21:12 Allah had made them hear, even if He 21:17 had granted them hearing, they would 21:22 surely have turned away. And they are 21:27 those who will always turn away. There 21:33 are 22 verses in total. Indeed, the 21:38 worst of living creatures in the sight 21:42 of Allah are the deaf and the dumb, who 21:47 do not hear and do not understand, 21:50 those who have no sense. And if Allah 21:57 knew there was any good in them, they 22:03 would have heard. And if Allah had made 22:09 them hear, they would surely have 22:11 turned away, while they were already 22:14 turning away. Those who heard but did 22:23 not obey, as if they did not hear, are 22:28 the worst of living creatures. So it is 22:35 not animals that are the worst, but 22:38 actually humans, cats, or even snakes, 22:43 for example, are still better. Allah 22:48 declares that the worst are humans who 22:52 are dumb, who are deaf and dumb, and 22:56 who do not use their reason. Those are 23:02 the worst, the worst of creatures. Now, 23:08 actually, Allah could have granted them 23:13 hearing. But because if they were 23:20 granted hearing, they would turn away, 23:24 there is no point in Allah granting 23:28 them hearing. So, for as long as they 23:34 live, they will never be able to hear 23:39 things that are good. This is for all 23:43 of you, brothers. Let us not become 23:47 such people. So this supposition does 23:51 not mean that Allah does not know. 23:53 Allah knows. But Allah knows that if 23:58 they were given hearing, they would 24:02 still ignore what they hear. Hopefully, 24:07 we are kept far away from those who 24:11 will become the worst of living 24:16 creatures. May Allah protect us from 24:18 that. So let us listen to what comes 24:22 from Allah and then act upon it. What 24:27 comes from the Messenger, let us act 24:29 upon it. So in verse 24, Allah states 24:34 again, "O you who have believed, 24:38 respond to Allah and the Messenger..."" 24:47 ...respond to Allah and the Messenger 24:49 when he calls you...""...to that which 24:56 gives you life.""...and know that He... 25:09 ""...to Him you will be gathered.""Ya 25:15 ayyuhalladzina amanu," O you who have 25:18 believed, "istajibu." Respond to the 25:23 call of Allah and the Messenger, when 25:30 he calls you, that is, Allah, to what 25:39 will give you life, and know that Allah 25:49 intervenes between a man and his heart, 25:55 and to Him you will be gathered. And 26:02 indeed, to Him you will be gathered. 26:13 The complete meaning of this 24th verse 26:15 . O you who have believed, respond to 26:20 Allah and the Messenger when he calls 26:24 you to that which gives you life. And 26:31 know that Allah intervenes between a 26:34 man and his heart. And indeed, to Him 26:40 you will be gathered. So, every call 26:46 from Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala will 26:50 surely provide life. It does not cause 26:55 death; it provides life in this world 26:58 and the hereafter. Therefore, it is 27:01 only fitting that we respond to the 27:04 call of Allah. Because the call of 27:08 Allah will surely provide life. 27:13 Certainly, a good life. Then Allah 27:17 reminds us that Allah is able to create 27:24 a barrier between a person and their 27:30 heart. So Allah can simply cause a 27:37 person's heart to die. Therefore, do 27:41 not let this happen. 27:45 Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala will grant 27:48 life 27:54 to a person or bring their heart to 27:57 life if they listen. to what comes from 28:03 Allah and then they follow it. But if 28:08 not, then Allah will build a wall, 28:11 blocking a person from their heart. Do 28:16 not let our hearts die, my brothers all 28:18 . So the Prophet prayed, "Ya muqollibal 28:23 qulub tsabbit qolbi ala dinik.""O Allah 28:28 , Who turns hearts, make my heart firm 28:36 upon Your religion." This is for all of 28:40 you, my brothers. So do not let our 28:44 hearts become dead. Because Allah 28:49 Subhanahu wa Ta'ala might block our 28:51 hearts from good things. Yes, meaning 28:57 He blocks them from the good, so that 29:01 only bad things enter our hearts. As 29:07 believers, we should always have a 29:09 sense of concern. Because Allah says " 29:12 yahulu". Allah could easily come 29:17 between our hearts and ourselves. So 29:24 that if our hearts are blocked from the 29:28 good, what enters instead are bad 29:31 things. Therefore, let us revive our 29:36 hearts by listening to what comes from 29:38 Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. Next is the 29:42 25th verse. Wattaqu fitnatan la 29:49 tusibannalladzina zalamu minkum khosoh. 29:59 Wa'lamu annallaha syadidul iqob 30:09 wattaquu and you should. Fear or guard 30:14 yourselves from a trial or tribulation. 30:23 La tusibanna that will not strike the 30:27 trial earlier. Alladzina zalamu those 30:32 who are wrongdoers. Exclusively. Eh la 30:40 tusibanna that will not e strike 30:43 alladzina those who are wrongdoers. 30:47 Alladzina those who zalamu are 30:49 wrongdoers minkum among you exclusively 30:53 . Wa'lamu so know and know annallaha 31:00 that Allah syadidul iqab is severe in 31:04 punishment. The overall meaning of 31:08 verse 25. And guard yourselves against 31:12 a trial which will not strike those who 31:16 are wrongdoers among you exclusively. 31:20 Know that Allah is very severe in 31:23 punishment. So, this is a warning from 31:30 Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala so we do not 31:35 remain silent when seeing various 31:39 violations. Because if violations occur 31:46 , Allah will send down a trial. And 31:52 that trial will not only befall those 31:56 who commit the violation, but perhaps 32:00 those who did not commit it will also 32:04 receive that trial. If we remain silent 32:11 seeing violations, it is possible that 32:14 those who stay silent will also face 32:18 the trial later. Therefore, we must not 32:25 feel free from what is done by others. 32:33 And we ourselves must feel that a trial 32:38 can descend. Not only hitting those who 32:44 commit sins, but also those who are 32:49 innocent can be affected. Therefore, 32:55 let us, my brothers, continuously 32:59 strive not to let immorality occur. Ibn 33:06 Abbas once said, "Allah has commanded 33:10 the believers not to let evil prevail 33:13 among them, lest Allah punish them all 33:17 together if the believers remain silent 33:21 regarding violations." In a hadith, the 33:27 Prophet once said that Allah will not 33:32 punish the masses for the deeds of an 33:37 individual, unless they allow evil to 33:42 become rampant among them. Even though 33:47 they are capable of stopping it, they 33:51 do nothing to prevent it. If they do 33:56 that, then Allah will punish both that 34:00 individual and the masses. Once again, 34:06 let us all strive to prevent evil from 34:10 running rampant, so that Allah’s 34:14 tribulations do not descend upon us. 34:20 Because if they come, they will befall 34:22 everyone. Not only those who commit the 34:28 violations, but it will affect everyone 34:31 . Thus, hopefully, this is beneficial. 34:36 We have arrived at the 25th verse. 34:41 Which warns us to be concerned and 34:44 fearful of the trials that can befall 34:49 anyone when we allow various violations 34:53 or evils to persist. Let us prevent 34:58 that evil so that Allah does not send 35:01 down His trials, tribulations, or 35:04 punishments. Thank you for all of your 35:09 attention. I apologize for all my 35:13 shortcomings. Let us close with the 35:16 kafaratul majelis prayer. 35:18 Subhanakallahumma wabihamdika ashadu 35:21 alla ilahailla anta astagfiruka. Wa 35:24 atubu ilaik. Asalamualaikum 35:26 warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
