0:00 In the context of religion, in the 0:03 context of religion, rest assured that 0:05 the one who determines the truth or 0:08 falsehood of a religion is God. God. 0:12 And that determination is for the 0:14 hereafter. 0:14 Yes. 0:15 Inna au iyakum laala hudan fialin mubin 0:20 . Qul. Say, Prophet Muhammad, to the 0:22 non-Muslims. Yes, 0:24 it could be us, it could be you who is 0:27 right, it could be us who is wrong or 0:30 you who is wrong. There is no need for 0:33 us to argue in this world about who is 0:35 right and who is wrong. Let God decide. 0:39 Inna hadihi ummatukumatan wahidatan wa 0:50 ana rabbukum fa'budun. Wama arsalnaka 1:01 illa rahmatan lilil alamin. In the name 1:15 of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most 1:16 Merciful. All praise is due to Allah, 1:18 Lord of the worlds. O Allah, send 1:19 prayers upon Muhammad and the family of 1:21 Muhammad. My Lord, increase me in 1:22 knowledge and join me with the 1:23 righteous. To proceed. Brothers and 1:26 sisters who are blessed by Allah 1:28 Subhanahu wa ta'ala. May the peace, 1:30 mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon 1:32 you. Lately, we have been witnessing a 1:38 debate regarding a snippet of a 1:45 narrative delivered by Prof. Dr. 1:47 Quraish Shihab. namely his statement 1:53 which says, "We in this world do not 1:55 know which religion is the true 2:00 religion. Therefore, it is better for 2:05 us not to debate this matter; let us 2:07 defer it to the afterlife. Let Allah 2:11 Subhanahu wa ta'ala be the judge." I do 2:18 not know if this narrative snippet is a 2:21 fabricated one. Or whether it reflects 2:27 words that he spoke unintentionally? 2:33 Because if we read the exegesis of this 2:36 verse in his book, Tafsir Al-Misbah, 2:39 the explanation is different from what 2:42 we just heard. And in this statement, 2:49 he uses verse 24 of Surah Saba as his 2:53 basis, namely: "wa inna a iyakum laala 2:57 hudan a fialin mubin." Now, to 3:04 understand this verse clearly so that 3:06 we truly speak on the basis of evidence 3:09 , not because of hatred, hostility, or 3:12 the desire to bring down someone's 3:15 reputation, before we read verse 24 of 3:18 Surah Saba, let us read the preceding 3:21 verses. We start from verse 22. Allah 3:28 says, "Qulidulladina zaamtum min 3:30 dunillah." Now, say, O Messenger of 3:33 Allah, please call upon the gods you 3:37 worship, whom you claim exist besides 3:41 Allah. La yamlikuna mithqala darratin 3:45 fis samawati wala ard. They have no 3:50 power whatsoever, they do not possess 3:52 even the weight of an atom, either in 3:55 the heavens or on the earth. Wama lahum 4:01 fihim min shirkin. And they have 4:03 absolutely no share in the creation of 4:06 the heavens, the earth, or in their 4:09 governance. Wala lahu minhum min zahir. 4:13 Whereas Allah, in creating and 4:15 governing all this, does not have a 4:18 single helper or assistant. He is the 4:21 Creator, He is the Governor, and He is 4:23 the Ruler of this universe. Wala 4:26 tanfa'us syafa'atu indahu illa liman 4:28 adzina lah. And no intercession 4:31 benefits anyone before Him except for 4:33 those whom Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala 4:34 has permitted. These are those who 4:39 believe, perhaps there are shortcomings 4:41 in some of their deeds or sins they 4:43 have committed. Allah Subhanahu wa 4:47 ta'ala gives permission to whom He 4:50 wills to intercede for those permitted 4:53 by Allah. Hatta idza fuzzi'a 'an 4:58 qulubihim. Until the time when humans 5:01 gather on the final day, those once 5:04 filled with fear will have their fears 5:06 lifted by Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. It 5:10 appears that those whose fears are 5:12 lifted here are the believers. When the 5:16 fear is lifted, yes, and removed from 5:19 them. Qolu ma qab rbukum. At that 5:26 moment they will say, "What did your 5:29 Lord say?" Qul haq. They will say that 5:34 our Lord said the truth. Everything 5:37 announced in the life of this world is 5:39 the truth. Everything explained is the 5:41 truth without any doubt. Those asking 5:45 this could be the prophets, the 5:48 messengers, sharing their testimony, or 5:51 perhaps among themselves. It could also 5:55 be the angels asking the question. They 5:59 all respond in unison, they say the 6:00 truth. Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala speaks 6:04 the truth without the slightest doubt. 6:08 Wahual aliyul kabir. And He is the only 6:11 one who is the Most High, the Most 6:13 Great. Now, the continuation is in 6:17 verse 24. Qul man yarzuquukum 6:19 minasamawati wal ard. Say, ask them, 6:22 who provides for you? For you, from 6:26 both the heavens and the earth, through 6:28 rain and all that grows on the face of 6:31 the earth, who bestows all of this upon 6:33 you? Qulillah. Say, all of that is from 6:39 Allah who provides your sustenance. 6:42 This is an affirmation from Allah. If 6:45 you still insist on your stance, 6:47 rejecting the truth that Allah 6:49 Subhanahu wa ta'ala has affirmed with 6:52 the proofs He has provided in the 6:55 verses of the Holy Qur'an. Wa inna a 7:00 iyakum laal hudan fialin mubin. Then we 7:03 leave our matter to be settled. Are we 7:07 the ones who are rightly guided or are 7:13 we in clear error? This is a beautiful 7:17 conclusion, aiming to open their hearts 7:19 without any coercion. Then the 7:24 following verse, qul tus'aluna amma 7:26 ajramna wala nus'alu amma tamalun. Say 7:29 that you will not be asked by Allah 7:32 about our choices and the deeds we have 7:35 done. We are responsible for our own 7:38 deeds. Likewise, we will not be asked 7:40 about your deeds, because each is 7:43 responsible for their own choices. So, 7:48 on this basis, a day will come when 7:50 Allah will make a judgment. Qul yajmau 7:54 bainana tumma yaftahu bainana bilhaqqi 7:57 wahual fattahul alim. Say that Allah 8:00 will gather us all together. Then Allah 8:04 will provide a clear decision between 8:06 us. Wahual fattahul alim. And He is the 8:11 only One who will judge with clarity, 8:14 plainly, and is All-Knowing. If we read 8:20 this verse along with the preceding and 8:23 following verses, we understand that 8:27 this does not mean we Muslims doubt the 8:31 truth of our religion. But through this 8:37 verse, we are invited to engage in 8:40 dialogue with non-Muslims by bringing 8:42 clear arguments and evidence. If they 8:48 oppose the truth conveyed by the Qur'an 8:52 , Allah teaches us to conclude the 8:56 dialogue and leave the certainty to 9:00 Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. It does not 9:05 mean we consider the truth of our 9:08 religion to be uncertain. Because Allah 9:12 clearly says, "Indeed, the religion in 9:14 the sight of Allah is Islam." So, in my 9:18 opinion, Professor Quraisyah did not 9:21 intend to make us, the listeners, doubt 9:24 the truth of Islam. But rather, after 9:29 hearing the explanations and evidence 9:32 presented by the Quran, if the dialogue 9:35 reaches an impasse and they remain firm 9:38 in their stance, we leave this matter 9:41 to Allah in the hereafter. What is 9:45 truly important and mandatory for us is 9:48 to hold firmly to the religion of Allah 9:51 . Accepting the truth, far from 9:56 arrogance. Because it is this arrogance 9:59 that caused Iblis, even though he 10:01 believed Allah was his Lord, to be cast 10:03 out from what? From His paradise. So, 10:07 for us who have been given guidance by 10:08 Allah, let us pray to Allah to be 10:10 steadfast in His guidance, far from 10:12 arrogance. And let us pray for our 10:15 brothers and sisters who have not yet 10:16 accepted the truth so that they may 10:18 receive guidance and direction from 10:19 Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. And Allah 10:21 knows best.
