- But every September, oh my, I am
- reminded of an event we all still
- remember: the G30S/PKI. I want to
- remind everyone, sometimes we as
- Indonesians are prone to forgetting.
- The Muslim community is prone to
- forgetfulness, and we forgive too
- easily. This is not about forgiving,
- but the dark history of the Indonesian
- nation on September 30, 1965.
- >> So, what do I want to convey? We remain
- grateful to Allah. We were gifted by
- Allah a nation that is independent from
- Dutch and Japanese colonizers. This is
- also why we must never forget history.
- Imagine if Allah had not granted us the
- gift of being an independent nation, we
- would be a colonized nation or perhaps
- something else entirely. Whereas at
- that time, our enemies colonizing this
- country were nations with extraordinary
- military power. While we had nothing.

- But Allah gave our nation a gift, a
- free nation. Then event after event
- followed until what became known as a
- movement, which I will share later,
- regarding how the PKI acted on its
- great ambition to turn the Republic of
- Indonesia into a communist state. Year
- '48. With. A bloody incident, added
- with the year 1965, which later became
- known as the 30th of September Movement
- of the PKI. This needs to be remembered
- so we do not fall into the same trap
- twice, so we remain vigilant and take
- lessons from it.
