Allow me also to 4:39 extend my greetings to you all, my 4:41 brothers and sisters. Likewise to Kang 4:45 Fahri, Kang Reza, Mas Neza, and also 4:48 Kang Yusuf. Happy Eid al-Adha 1445 4:52 Hijri. May Allah accept our deeds and 4:57 may we truly gain lessons from what was 5:01 exemplified by the figures in this Eid 5:06 al-Adha celebration. Alright, brothers 5:10 and sisters whom Allah has blessed, 5:11 ladies and gentlemen. Our discussion 5:15 this evening continues our talk from 5:19 last month, namely how Allah Subhanahu 5:23 wa ta'ala has provided a curriculum for 5:28 us, has given us guidance, and a method 5:32 of implementation on how to speak. This 5:39 is very important because in our last 5:42 meeting we discussed that what will be 5:46 recorded by the angels Raqib and Atid 5:50 is not only good or bad deeds, but 5:53 there is one more, namely our speech. 5:58 In Surah Qaf, chapter 50, verses 17 and 6:02 18. Previously, I only thought that the 6:05 task of the angels Raqib and Atid was 6:08 just one thing: recording good and bad 6:10 deeds. That is correct. Indeed, that is 6:13 the task of the angels Raqib and Atid. 6:15 But there is one more thing from Surah 6:18 Qaf, the 50th chapter, verse 17. The 6:20 words of Allah: A'udzubillahi 6:22 minash-shaytanir-rajeem. Idz 6:24 yatalaqqal-mutalaqqiyan. If you want to 6:26 read from verse 16 as well, you may. 6:28 Walaqad khalaqnal-insana wa na'lamu ma 6:30 tuwaswisu bihi nafsuh, wa nahnu aqrabu 6:32 ilaihi min hablil-warid. Indeed, We 6:36 have created man and We know exactly 6:38 what is happening inside his chest, 6:41 inside the human heart. And We are 6:44 closer to that human than his jugular 6:47 vein or the vein of his heart. Then in 6:50 verse 17: Mutalaqqiyan. And remember 6:56 when two angels sit on the left and the 6:59 right of every human, for what? Of 7:02 course, to record all of their deeds. 7:06 Ah, but we must continue to verse 18. 7:11 Now, this 18th verse is rarely 7:13 mentioned, even though, in my opinion, 7:17 it is truly very important. Why? 7:21 Because verse 18 uses a different style 7:23 of language. The language style shows 7:28 us that this is a very important matter 7:31 , using what is called "istisna" or 7:34 exception. There is a phrase of 7:36 exception in the words of Allah there. 7:38 Once again, chapter 50, ladies and 7:40 gentlemen, brothers and sisters. Surah 7:42 Qaf, the 26th juz, verse 18. Ma yalfidu 7:48 min qawlin illa ladaihi raqibun 'atid. 7:53 Ah, that "illa" phrasing is the istisna 7:56 , the exception. It begins with the 7:59 word "ma": ma yalfidu min qawlin. And 8:03 not a single word is uttered, or now it 8:06 doesn't just mean spoken words, but 8:09 also written or typed on a cell phone, 8:13 for example. Then spread or human body 8:17 gestures. None of it is uttered or 8:21 produced by a human. Illa ladaihi 8:25 raqibun' atid. Except that there are 8:28 definitely angels, Raqib and 'Atid, who 8:31 will record it. So, the language style 8:35 of verse 17 tells about the good and 8:37 bad deeds recorded by the angels Raqib 8:39 and' Atid. But specifically for words, 8:43 it uses a language style, a sentence 8:46 style, that is actually much more... 8:49 what should I say? Warning, a caution. 8:52 Yes, the warning is truly very high. So 8:56 it is unwise if someone then says, "My 9:01 body language or my words are just the 9:05 way they are. I speak as it is. 9:09 Whatever I feel, I just say it. If 9:13 I’m angry, I’m just angry." 9:14 Something like that, right? Or, "If I 9:16 want to curse, I’ll just curse. The 9:19 important thing is that my heart is 9:21 clean." Oh, you cannot do that. It 9:22 doesn't work that way. Because the 9:24 phrasing is "ma yalfiz.""Yalfiz" is 9:26 taken from the word "lafzun." Uttered. 9:30 Yes, anything uttered is something that 9:32 will be recorded. So we cannot just 9:35 rely on our intentions. "I didn't have 9:38 any bad intentions when I said that." 9:41 Well, if the words or what you said 9:43 were wrong, you cannot rely solely on 9:46 your intentions. That is the 9:49 consequence of the sentence with the 9:51 different language style mentioned 9:53 earlier. It is a very, very serious 9:55 warning. "Ma yalfidu min..." And not a 9:59 single word is uttered. "Utterance" 10:02 here, once again, is not just spoken 10:04 words but also body gestures. It also 10:08 includes what is typed, for instance on 10:11 social media or anywhere else; those 10:14 are all "yalfidu"(utterances). Not a 10:19 single word is uttered by a human being 10:22 except that there is with him—that is 10:24 , around him, to his right and left— 10:27 Raqib and Atid angels who will record 10:30 it, mothers and fathers. So, precisely 10:35 because words are something warned 10:38 about by Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, 10:41 with an extraordinary warning using a 10:44 distinct style of language, Allah has 10:47 certainly prepared the procedure, the 10:50 method, and the protocol. That is the 10:54 point. Why? Because this is a very 10:56 heavy matter, an extraordinary affair. 10:59 Later, we will witness many things 11:00 based on the information from the Quran 11:02 . We will witness many people who gave 11:05 much charity in the world, but once 11:07 they reach the afterlife, it turns out 11:09 their charity is all gone. Why? Because 11:13 of words. We will witness many people 11:17 who once did good to others, but in the 11:20 afterlife, their scales appear empty, 11:22 with nothing in them. Why? Because of 11:25 words. For example, if you would like 11:28 to open the Quran, surah 2 verse 264 at 11:30 the beginning of the third juz, that is 11:32 the word of Allah, "A'udzubillahi 11:34 minasyaitanirrajim.""Ya ayyuhalladzina 11:37 amanu la tubthilu shadaqatikum bil 11:39 manni wal adza." O you who have 11:43 believed, do not invalidate your 11:45 charities by what? By reminding others 11:49 of your favor and by hurting those you 11:51 give to. That address is to the 11:55 believers, and the sentence indicates 11:58 that the charity should have already 12:01 been recorded. Then, it is invalidated. 12:04 What is meant by invalidated is that 12:06 the name had been entered, the mark had 12:08 been made, but then it became void, it 12:10 didn't count, right? So, "O you who 12:13 have believed, ya ayyuhalladzina amanu 12:15 la tubthilu shadaqatikum." Do not 12:17 invalidate what you have already done. 12:20 "bil manni wal adza"—by reminding 12:22 others of your favor and hurting the 12:24 one who was given—what do you call it 12:26 —like one who spends......like 12:31 someone who spends their wealth out of 12:32 ostentation (riya). Now, what does that 12:35 mean? The person who gave charity was a 12:37 believer who was not showing off, their 12:39 deed was sincere, purely for Allah, and 12:41 it was already recorded in the book 12:42 that should have belonged to them. But 12:44 because they reminded the person of the 12:46 favor and hurt the one who was given, 12:48 Allah says it is like the person who 12:49 shows off. A person who shows off is 12:51 like...they are not actually showing 12:53 off, but it is just like that. Why? 12:55 Because a person who shows off does not 12:56 get the results. Therefore, the parable 13:00 is......the parable of that event is 13:12 like a pile of rock with sand on top of 13:15 it that only sticks for a moment. This 13:18 is like the deed that was stuck for a 13:21 moment, then a heavy rainstorm came. 13:23 You will no longer see that sand; it 13:26 will no longer be on that rock. "La 13:29 yaqdiruna mimma kasabu." They have no 13:32 power whatsoever to preserve those 13:35 deeds. "Wallahu la yahdilal kafirin." 13:38 Allah does not provide His guidance to 13:40 the disbelieving people. Even though at 13:43 the beginning, you were addressed as 13:44 believers. Ladies and gentlemen, may 13:46 Allah have mercy on you. So, these 13:48 words are truly dangerous; we cannot 13:50 take them lightly, we cannot treat them 13:53 as trivial, ladies and gentlemen. The 13:57 utterance of words that come out. It is 14:00 even very ironic, here in Indonesia, we 14:03 often hear people say, what is the term 14:06 , coarse mouth, but a heart of gold, 14:08 right? Is that how it really is? 14:12 Actually, that concept is not allowed 14:14 because there are words that are 14:16 recorded. So, you cannot rely on "my 14:18 heart isn't like that," you simply 14:20 can't, ladies and gentlemen. Okay. 14:23 Therefore, there is a clear 14:26 implementation guide. We have discussed 14:31 that implementation guide for three 14:34 meetings now. The fourth is, there is 14:38 guidance on how not to say bad things. 14:42 Yes, we have already discussed that at 14:44 the beginning, for what purpose? So 14:46 that it is easy for us to utter good 14:47 types of words. There are types that 14:50 Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala mentioned, 14:52 there are 8 + 1. Well, in the previous 14:56 meeting, we discussed one type of good 14:59 speech, which is Qaulan Sadida. 15:03 Hopefully, you still remember, ladies 15:04 and gentlemen. Please refer back to our 15:08 Rasil TV YouTube channel; there is a 15:11 recording, you can refer to or watch 15:13 the previous broadcast again. Qaulan 15:18 Sadida is taken from the word sadada or 15:21 sadda, which means a square wall. So, 15:24 Sadida has a philosophy like a square 15:28 wall. Well, we already discussed that 15:30 in the last meeting. Tonight, God 15:33 willing, we will continue with another 15:36 one, namely Layina or Layinan. There it 15:40 is. So, what is this Layinan or Layina? 15:44 Ladies and gentlemen, may Allah have 15:46 mercy on you, I gave it a title there. 15:48 Ah, sorry. I gave it a title there. The 15:53 magic key to making anyone better. So, 15:58 there is a key to this. How can we 16:02 change other people for the better? 16:05 Masyaallah, Kang Fahri. Ladies and 16:06 gentlemen, brothers and sisters, may 16:08 Allah have mercy on you. I receive so 16:11 many stories from the congregation. Yes 16:14 , usually it's mothers who share these 16:16 stories, Kang Fahri. So, their concerns 16:19 are like this. What should I do, Ustadz 16:21 ? Why is my child so difficult to talk 16:24 to? When I give them understanding, 16:27 give them explanations to keep up with 16:30 prayers, maintain their Quran 16:32 recitation, and so on? Why is it so 16:35 hard, something like that? Ladies and 16:37 gentlemen, may Allah have mercy on you. 16:39 It turns out from the many stories, if 16:43 I examine them further after talking 16:46 and opening up their problems, it turns 16:50 out that on average, we as parents 16:54 haven't followed Allah's method in 16:58 reminding our children, in performing 17:01 da'wah. There is a method, ladies and 17:05 gentlemen. We can't just say, "I, your 17:10 mother, love you, you know." Well, like 17:14 that. That's why you should pray; why 17:16 aren't you praying? Like that. Ah, we 17:18 can't just say, "Well, my intentions 17:20 are good," that won't work. "Why? 17:23 Because there is a method that Allah 17:26 has explained. Have we used that method 17:29 yet? Well, it's important for us to 17:32 know this so that later we don't, uh, 17:35 what? don't lose hope. Now, this is 17:38 dangerous once you lose hope." Fine, 17:41 Mama doesn't want to know anymore. "" 17:42 It's up to you. "See, it's like that." 17:44 Go to hell if you want, go ahead, I 17:46 don't care. "Ah, that is dangerous. So, 17:49 there is a key to changing anyone for 17:52 the better. Yesterday was actually an 17:55 amazing key as well, kaulan sadida, 17:56 right. Specifically, uh, what, uh, 17:59 kaulan sadida. Now, kaulan layyinan is 18:02 the same. So, what is kaulan layyinan, 18:04 ladies and gentlemen? Imagine, there 18:08 was the most depraved human being in 18:12 this entire universe. There was the 18:15 most depraved human being in this 18:17 universe. Yes, on this world, I mean on 18:20 earth, right. On earth. How do you 18:22 change such a depraved person? Ladies 18:24 and gentlemen, may Allah have mercy on 18:26 you, who do I mean? None other than 18:29 Pharaoh, may Allah's curse be upon him. 18:32 Yes, he was indeed cursed by Allah. 18:34 During his lifetime, this Pharaoh had 18:36 the right to be invited to the truth, 18:39 right. Uh, Prophet Musa, who was also 18:43 an adopted child, a child who grew up 18:46 in Pharaoh's house. Uh, that's why 18:50 there's a little, uh, trait that, uh, 18:53 recorded by the Qur'an, Prophet Musa's 18:56 trait was temperamental. Now, it 19:00 appears strongly suspected, yes, 19:02 because he indeed grew up being fed in 19:05 Pharaoh's house, even though there was 19:09 a kind of piety and faith in him, but 19:11 it seems a temperamental character was 19:15 also formed. So, it has an, uh, it has 19:18 an influence from what money we use to 19:21 feed our children, it has an influence, 19:23 ladies and gentlemen. Okay. So, Pharaoh 19:28 , uh, was the adoptive father of Musa, 19:31 Prophet Musa. Now, during his life or 19:35 while he was alive, of course, Pharaoh 19:38 also had the right to receive dawah, 19:40 right? He had the right to be preached 19:42 to as well. Uh, that is what Allah 19:46 tasked Prophet Musa Alaih Salam and 19:48 Prophet Harun with. Uh, what's 19:53 interesting is when the two of them 19:55 were assigned to go to Pharaoh, who, I 19:58 must underline again, was the most 20:00 depraved person or human being on this 20:03 earth, you know, based on the study of 20:06 the Qur'an, of course. Ah, the sentence 20:11 is in Surah Taha, chapter 20, verses 43 20:13 and 44. The sentence goes like this. 20:17 Allah's command to Prophet Musa and 20:18 Harun regarding Pharaoh. Izhaba ila 20:20 Firauna, go both of you to Pharaoh. 20:25 Innahu thagha, truly he has 20:27 transgressed the bounds. Thagha, right. 20:30 Showing that Pharaoh truly, really 20:32 exceeded the limits. So, what I meant 20:35 earlier was why I titled this" The Key 20:38 to Changing Anyone for the Better. "I 20:40 mean this as a reflection for ourselves 20:43 , that our children—let’s just use 20:46 children so it relates directly to our 20:49 lives. Of course, not just children, 20:52 anyone, really; our children are 20:54 certainly not as wicked as Pharaoh. 20:59 Exactly. So, our children or anyone we 21:04 are guiding deserve the method of 21:06 guidance that Allah has commanded. So, 21:12 let's make sure we don't get this wrong 21:14 . Just because they are children, we 21:17 shouldn't just get angry or push them 21:19 into a corner." You’re like this, 21:20 you’re like that, haven't you done 21:22 this yet? "Come on, don't be like that. 21:23 Don't be like that, okay. It has to be 21:24 this way, it has to be that way, it 21:25 must be. Yeah, like that. So, there is 21:27 a method for it. Now, what is that 21:30 method? In verse 44," fa qula lahu. " 21:34 The two of you speak to him. Speak to 21:38 whom? To Pharaoh, who was—as we noted 21:40 earlier—notorious. I will circle it 21:43 on the Rasil TV screen later so it’s 21:46 clear that he was truly exceeding all 21:49 limits." Faqula, "the two of you speak, 21:53 " lahu, "to him. To whom? To Pharaoh, 21:56 meaning what?" Qawlan layyinan. "The 22:01 two of you speak with words that are 22:04 gentle. Now, what does" gentle "mean? 22:08 We will uncover what those dimensions 22:11 are and what they contain later." 22:13 Qawlan layyinan. "Speak with gentleness 22:17 , because those we guide—whether they 22:20 are our children, our students, or 22:23 whoever we are inviting to the path of 22:26 Allah—they deserve it. They are not 22:30 as wicked as Pharaoh, after all. What 22:33 do they deserve to receive?" Qawlan 22:35 layyinan, "gentle words. Of course, the 22:38 gentleness intended here has its own 22:42 definition, which we will examine later 22:45 . It doesn't mean just agreeing with 22:48 everything or coaxing them; that’s 22:50 not it either. We will get to it, but 22:53 for now, let's focus on" qawlan 22:55 layyinan, "so that" la'allahu. "This is 22:59 " lam lighayah. "In tafsir, this letter 23:03 is called" lam lighayah. "" La'allahu, 23:06 "meaning" so that, "implying cause and 23:09 effect. What does cause and effect mean 23:12 ? It means that using the" qawlan 23:16 layyinan "method will cause" la'allahu 23:20 yatazakkar, "so that he remembers Allah 23:24 ," aw yakhsya, "or he fears Allah. So, 23:29 the method must be used. That is why we 23:32 cannot use a harsh method when guiding 23:35 others. Just saying," If you do this, 23:37 you’ll go to hell, "doesn't work 23:38 either. Why? Because the Quran provides 23:41 a specific method. Especially when we 23:44 look at the method of" mubashyirin wa 23:47 munzirin. "Giving good news and giving 23:50 warnings. The word" good news "is 23:53 always mentioned first. It is mentioned 23:58 three times more often than" nazirah " 24:00 or warning, and it is stated first. 24:04 That is how it is. So, we should give 24:07 more glad tidings than warnings. As 24:11 parents, we shouldn't just be full of 24:14 threats and warnings all the time. Even 24:18 though our children are not as wicked 24:20 as Pharaoh. If even Pharaoh had the 24:23 right to be spoken to with*qaulan 24:25 layyinan*(gentle speech). Now, what is* 24:30 qaulan layyinan*, and what are the 24:32 dimensions of that gentle speech? Well, 24:35 let's open the explanation from the 24:39 third chapter, Surah Ali 'Imran verse 24:42 159, ladies and gentlemen. Please, pay 24:46 close attention. From this verse, we 24:49 will gain many meaningful insights for 24:51 us, ladies and gentlemen. Yes, the 24:54 sentence goes like this. *Fabima 24:57 rahmatin minallahi linta lahum. *The 25:00 word*lin*is the root word for*layyin* 25:03 earlier. If yesterday it was*sadida*, 25:05 what about that one?*Qaulan sadida*is 25:08 taken from the word*sadada*, right?* 25:10 Sadda*. Now, *layyin*is taken from the 25:13 word*lin*, yes. Lam, ya, and nun: *lin* 25:16 . Then it takes on the nature of being* 25:22 layyin*, so*fabima rahmatin minallahi 25:27 linta lahum*. So, this is an 25:32 extraordinary sentence, meaning" it is 25:37 by the mercy of Allah that you are 25:40 gentle with them. "The*khitab*(the one 25:46 being addressed) here is the Prophet 25:48 Muhammad, peace be upon him. From here, 25:52 we will uncover what the dimensions of* 25:54 layyin*are. But the beginning of the 25:58 sentence is interesting: *fabima 25:59 rahmatin minallahi linta lahum*." So, 26:03 it is by Allah's mercy that you are 26:05 able to be gentle toward them. "Ladies 26:08 and gentlemen, there is an important 26:11 secret that I must share. The Quran's 26:15 words are certain; it is exact 26:18 knowledge, that is the beauty of the 26:20 Quran. There is no doubt whatsoever in 26:23 the Quran. So, when the sentence says* 26:27 fabima rahmatin minallahi linta lahum*, 26:30 it means" by Allah's mercy you are 26:32 gentle to them. "This sentence also 26:37 means that if we want to receive 26:40 Allah's mercy, *rahmatin minallah*. If 26:45 we want to receive mercy from Allah, 26:47 then learn to be gentle, *qaulan 26:49 layyinan*. Because our gentleness and 26:56 our*qaulan layyinan*are thanks to 26:58 Allah's mercy. This means if we cannot 27:02 be gentle in our speech, it means 27:04 Allah's mercy is far from us. Far from 27:09 us. We want to enter Paradise, right? 27:13 Why do we enter Paradise? Is it because 27:17 of our deeds of worship? No. Then 27:19 because of what? Because of the mercy 27:22 of Allah. One way to earn that mercy 27:26 and receive Allah's love is by being 27:29 gentle to those we are inviting to the 27:32 path. Like that. So, we will truly be 27:39 at a loss if we keep refusing to change 27:43 ourselves." I am just this kind of 27:45 person. "" I am just a harsh person by 27:46 nature. "" This is how I am. "Oh, we 27:48 would be at a loss. Why? Because our 27:51 gentleness is a result of Allah's mercy 27:53 . This means if we strive to be*layyin* 27:57 , then Allah's mercy is opened up for 28:00 us. Automatically, we must change 28:04 ourselves, ladies and gentlemen, may 28:05 Allah have mercy on you. We must change 28:08 ourselves, like that. Likewise, Prophet 28:13 Moses, peace be upon him, was also a 28:15 temperamental person. If you open the 28:19 Quran, Surah 7, verses 150 to 154, in 28:22 verse 150, Moses returns to his people 28:25 from his journey of receiving 28:27 revelation from Allah, receiving the 28:30 Torah from Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, 28:33 and returns to his people. Ladies and 28:37 gentlemen, may Allah bless you. 28:39 Previously, Moses had entrusted his 28:42 people to his brother, Aaron. Upon 28:47 returning, Moses was disappointed with 28:50 his people and also with his brother, 28:52 Aaron. Why? Because he suddenly saw 28:56 that his people had returned to idol 28:58 worship, specifically a calf. Ladies 29:01 and gentlemen, may Allah bless you. Now 29:03 , Moses's disappointment is interesting 29:05 for us to note that we truly must 29:07 change. We cannot just let that 29:09 temperamental nature be. We cannot, 29:12 what do you call it? Justifying it by 29:14 saying," I'm just naturally like this, 29:15 "we cannot do that. The verse is 150, 29:17 as mentioned earlier. Please open it 29:19 where you are. The sentence goes like 29:22 this. And when Moses returned to his 29:36 people, he was in a state of anger and" 29:42 asifan ", which means sad." Qum. "Then 29:48 Moses said," How terrible is what you 29:51 have done in my absence or after I left 29:54 . "" Are you in a hurry to ask Allah to 29:59 punish you? "" Something like that. " 30:01 Now, the interesting sentence is in the 30:03 ...what? In the next fragment." Wa 30:05 alqal alwaha waakhadha bira'si akhi 30:08 yajurruhu ilaihi. "Then he threw down 30:11 the tablets." Alwah "is the plural of" 30:14 lauh, "meaning the sheets on which the 30:16 Torah was written. He had just received 30:19 them from Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, 30:20 the revelation had just come down to 30:22 him, yet he threw them in his anger. 30:25 Ladies and gentlemen, brothers and 30:27 sisters, that temperamental nature, he 30:29 was," wa alqal alwaha wa akhadha 30:31 bira'si akhi yajurruhu "ilaihi. Then it 30:34 did not stop there. After he threw 30:37 these tablets, these sheets of the 30:39 Torah, he pulled the beard of Prophet 30:42 Aaron." Wa akhadha bira'si akhi 30:44 yajurruhu ilaihi, "pulling him towards 30:45 himself, as if he wanted to strike him. 30:48 Remember, back in the day, he once 30:50 struck someone in the past, and the 30:53 person died. That is in Quran Surah 28, 30:56 verse 15, Surah Al-Qasas. The person 30:59 died instantly. Now, here, Prophet 31:01 Aaron's beard was being held by him. 31:06 Then Prophet Aaron said in a gentle 31:09 tone:" O son of my mother, "said Aaron, 31:23 " indeed... "" Our people considered me 31:28 weak. "" They even almost killed me. "" 31:37 Please do not let them rejoice at 31:39 seeing you kill me, and do not place me 31:41 among the wrongdoing people. "Meaning, 31:43 please, forgive me. Something like that 31:45 , ladies and gentlemen. Hearing those 31:49 words, Moses's anger subsided, and he 31:51 learned not to be temperamental anymore 31:54 . We must learn; even a prophet was 31:57 taught like that by Allah. We are not 31:59 prophets, after all. Yeah, let's not 32:01 lose the mercy of Allah. Now, what is 32:03 interesting in verse 154, ladies and 32:05 gentlemen, please pay attention to it. 32:07 154 The sentence goes like this. 32:11 Walamma sakata amusal gabu. And when 32:15 the anger, the wrath of Prophet Moses, 32:17 had subsided. Walama sakata amusabu. 32:20 Notice, after the anger subsided. Eh, 32:24 after the anger subsided, I mean, once 32:27 the anger subsided. He picked up the 32:33 tablets, the sheets of the Torah that 32:36 he had thrown earlier, the tablets. 32:40 Wiusha hudaahmahilladina humbihim 32:44 yarhabun. Now, this sentence is 32:47 interesting. And in the writing of 32:50 those tablets, there was guidance, and 32:52 mercy. Now, that is the sentence 32:56 regarding Allah's compassion for those 32:59 who fear the greatness of their Lord. 33:03 It means this: back when Prophet Moses 33:06 was angry, he held the tablets, but the 33:09 mercy wasn't visible there. The 33:12 guidance and the mercy of the Torah 33:15 were not apparent. Why? Because he was 33:18 angry, even throwing them down. Ladies 33:20 and gentlemen, may Allah have mercy on 33:21 you, only after the anger subsided 33:23 could it be seen. Yes, that was it. 33:29 Prophet Moses truly could not, could 33:32 not use this anger as an excuse. No, it 33:37 really has to change. We must have the 33:40 courage to change ourselves. Even 33:41 Prophet Moses was like that, dear 33:43 ladies and gentlemen. So the mercy only 33:46 came out after the anger was calmed 33:49 down. Huda warahmah, guidance and mercy 33:55 , only appeared after the anger 33:58 subsided. Now, returning to verse 159 34:03 of the third surah. So, it is by the 34:06 mercy of Allah that you are gentle with 34:08 them. Because of Allah's mercy, we are 34:10 able to be gentle. Or conversely, if we 34:15 want Allah's mercy to come to us, then 34:19 calm your emotions and be gentle. Yes, 34:23 that is being gentle. Now, what are we 34:27 chasing? The mercy of Allah. The mercy 34:30 of Allah. We cannot just use the excuse 34:32 that they are truly wicked. I've said 34:35 it many times, I've told them 34:36 repeatedly, I've done this many times, 34:38 and I'm not being listened to—that's 34:39 not an excuse either. Why? Because we 34:41 are the ones who need Allah's mercy. We 34:44 are the ones who need Allah's mercy. 34:46 Right? How much more wicked could 34:48 Pharaoh be? If Prophet Moses was 34:51 commanded by Allah to speak gently to 35:01 Pharaoh, so that he might remember 35:04 Allah or fear Him—if Moses had said," 35:07 Oh, I can't do that, O Allah. This 35:12 Pharaoh has been cruel so many times, 35:15 it's extraordinary. I have spoken to 35:16 him many times and he doesn't listen. I 35:18 can't. "I can't, we aren't allowed to 35:20 say that, right? So, we have a right. 35:23 That right is actually the good impact 35:26 for us, that we receive the mercy. If 35:31 we speak gently, then that mercy from 35:34 Allah is for us. But if we cannot do it 35:38 , surely we are the ones who lose out, 35:40 right? God's mercy will also be closed 35:42 off to us. Ladies and gentlemen, may 35:44 you be blessed by Allah. Like Prophet 35:45 Moses earlier. Prophet Moses and 35:47 Prophet Aaron were two different people 35:49 , even though they were siblings, 35:50 perhaps because they were raised in 35:52 different places. Ladies and gentlemen, 35:53 may you be blessed by Allah. So, the 35:55 results were different as well. Well, 35:57 we really have to learn, we must learn. 36:00 Okay, let's continue the sentence. 36:01 Fabima rahmatin minallah lintalahum 36:03 walau kunta fazhzhan ghalizhal qalb... 36:07 ...lanfadzdzua min haulik." Lanfadzdzua 36:10 "uses a lam taukid." La anfadzdzua "is 36:12 the root word. So," walau kunta 36:16 fazhzhan, "if you were rigid. Yes, 36:19 hard-hearted and rigid, right. Never 36:23 mind being harsh, even just being rigid 36:25 ." La-in..., la-in fadzdzua min haulik. 36:28 "Surely they would have fled from your 36:31 side. They would run away, ladies and 36:35 gentlemen. So we must reflect on this. 36:40 We must dare to self-critique, ladies 36:42 and gentlemen. Maybe our children no 36:44 longer want to be close to us, their 36:47 father or their mother. Forget about 36:49 listening to what we say, they don't 36:50 even want to be near us. Even if we 36:52 talk to them, they might just say yes, 36:54 but it’s never implemented or done. 36:57 Perhaps what we need to introspect is 37:00 our own rigidity. Yes, the hardness of 37:04 our hearts." Walau... "...if your heart 37:10 were rigid and hard," la-in fadzdzua 37:12 min haulik, "surely they would run from 37:14 your side. And this is a prophet, mind 37:17 you. This is in this verse, in verse 37:21 159, let alone us, ladies and gentlemen 37:23 , may Allah bless you. So we must dare 37:29 to self-critique. We must have the 37:32 courage to look in the mirror. Don't 37:34 just keep pointing fingers. Just 37:36 because of who we are preaching to, or 37:39 whatever. Once again, even Pharaoh was 37:41 entitled to be spoken to with gentle 37:43 speech. So," fabima rahmatin minallah 37:46 lintalahum, "right. God's mercy to you 37:49 if you are gentle. If you are rigid and 37:53 hard-hearted, they will run from your 37:55 side, from our side. Well, from the 37:58 side of—in this verse, it means the 38:00 side of the Messenger. Okay. Then the 38:04 sentence says" fa'fu' anhum. "This" fa 38:07 "is called fa-ta'qib." Fa'fu 'anhum. " 38:10 So, what does" so "mean? Cause and 38:13 effect. It means this. If you don't 38:17 want them to run from your side, if you 38:20 want God's mercy to come and be poured 38:23 upon you, which is the provision to 38:26 enter heaven—the currency to enter 38:29 heaven is God's mercy. Then be gentle. 38:34 Therefore, what you must do, what you 38:37 should do, what you have to do in this 38:40 matter of gentleness is what? There are 38:43 three things. First," fa'fu' anhum. " 38:47 Forgive them. There, forgive them, 38:50 ladies and gentlemen. This is truly 38:53 extraordinary, ladies and gentlemen. 38:56 Forgive them. If we don’t forgive, we 39:00 cannot be gentle, right? We can’t. 39:03 Especially with a temperament like 39:05 Prophet Musa had earlier, it’s 39:06 impossible. So, we really must train 39:08 ourselves internally for that. Forgive. 39:13 Ladies and gentlemen, may you be 39:14 blessed by Allah. Why must we forgive 39:17 ourselves? Because once again, the 39:19 reward is Allah’s mercy. Just stay 39:21 calm, okay? I am underlining this here 39:23 so that we will always remember. Of 39:25 course, it’s not easy to forgive, 39:27 right? It’s not, it’s not simple, 39:30 is it? But what is the reward? 39:32 Allah’s mercy. Allah’s mercy is the 39:34 capital to enter paradise. So, the 39:35 question is, let’s ask ourselves," 39:37 Hey, Doni. "Yes, ask myself," Do you 39:40 want to enter paradise or not? " 39:42 That’s about it, right? Are we going 39:44 to enter paradise? Come on, if you want 39:46 to enter paradise, as mentioned, * 39:48 rahmatin minallah fafuhum*, forgive 39:50 them. Yes, sometimes we make things too 39:53 difficult by setting so many conditions 39:56 . A child must be perfect in everything 40:01 , must be smart in school, must 40:03 remember small things, must be tidy, 40:05 must be clever, must speak well, must 40:08 have initiative, must be this. Wow, it 40:12 would be so perfect if we followed all 40:14 of that. Something like that. If one, 40:16 two, three, or four things are missing, 40:19 we get angry, disappointed, and upset. 40:22 Eventually, we can no longer be* 40:24 rahmatin minallah lintalahum*, we can 40:26 no longer be gentle. Forgive them. 40:29 Forgive what? Forgive those conditions 40:31 that we created earlier, right? Forgive 40:34 the conditions we set earlier. If those 40:37 conditions don't violate our faith, 40:41 even Allah still forgives; He even told 40:46 Musa to speak gently to Pharaoh. Are we 40:51 that cool, that arrogant, that we think 40:53 we are holier than Prophet Musa? Of 40:56 course not. Yes, we must pay attention 40:58 to that, ladies and gentlemen. Faufu 41:00 anhum. Forgive them if it is still 41:02 possible. If there is no other way, 41:05 then forgive them. But if it happens 41:07 repeatedly or concerns matters of faith 41:10 , then it is different, of course. Oh, 41:13 if it is a matter of faith, it cannot 41:14 be tolerated. Yes, of course, there are 41:17 differences, ladies and gentlemen. But 41:20 if it is not a matter of faith, not 41:25 something fundamental. If it can be 41:30 forgiven so that we can be gentler, 41:32 then Allah's mercy will come to us. 41:35 Faufu anhum. Forgive them. Now, in our 41:39 hearts. So if needed, I teach that we 41:42 should just name it. For example, Kang 41:46 Fah, I have an interesting story about 41:52 someone who has three children. So, 41:56 every night, they would wake up and 41:59 dedicate that night specifically to one 42:02 child. She prayed Tahajud and prayed 42:05 for her child, saying," O Allah, I am 42:06 pleased with this child of mine. "" I 42:08 forgive them. "" I want that. "Then the 42:10 next night, she woke up again for 42:12 Tahajud for her second child. The 42:13 following night, she woke up again to 42:15 pray for the third child. She did that 42:17 for decades until she passed away. That 42:20 is extraordinary, what do you call it? 42:22 Things like that are worth emulating, 42:24 right? Wow, it's almost 9 o'clock 42:26 already. I will hurry, ladies and 42:28 gentlemen. The second is* 42:30 wastaghfirlahum*. After we ask, after 42:34 we forgive them, then ask Allah for 42:37 forgiveness on their behalf. Now, this 42:42 means asking Allah to forgive them. So, 42:45 why do we do this? Why bother praying 42:48 for others to be forgiven by Allah? So 42:51 our hearts soften, so that Allah’s 42:54 mercy flows to us once again. That is 42:57 the direct benefit we receive. If we 43:00 don't get that, we might think, why 43:02 bother caring about others, right? But 43:05 precisely by doing so, we receive 43:08 Allah's mercy. Once again, Allah's 43:11 mercy is of great value, ladies and 43:13 gentlemen. Even in this world, we will 43:16 start to feel this mercy of Allah. This 43:18 is not a joke; it is truly, genuinely 43:20 mercy. When Allah grants His mercy, it 43:23 is truly extraordinary. The second 43:27 point is*wastaghfirlahum*, asking for 43:29 forgiveness from Allah for them. Then 43:36 the third, if we are still interacting 43:39 with them, is*wasyawirhum fil amr*, 43:42 invite them to deliberate on our 43:45 affairs. *Wasyawirhum fil amr*. So, 43:50 genuinely ask for their opinions. Make 43:54 them feel, so to speak, valued. Make 43:59 them feel respected as human beings. 44:00 Just because they are your children, 44:02 don't think of them as subordinates. 44:04 Just because they are your employees, 44:06 don't assume they are merely under you. 44:09 It shouldn't just be a top-down 44:11 approach. Always saying" do this, "" do 44:13 that, "" it must be this way, "and so 44:15 on. Try, for once, to forgive, ask for 44:18 Allah's forgiveness for them, and 44:20 genuinely invite them to deliberate. 44:23 Things will change; a transformation 44:25 will happen there. These three things 44:28 are what we call*qawlan layyinan*. So, 44:31 the training happens within ourselves. 44:34 Eventually, the words that come out 44:36 will be*layyin*(gentle), and the way 44:38 they reach the people we are addressing 44:40 will be different. Just try it, ladies 44:44 and gentlemen, *qawlan layyinan*. We 44:48 can't just dictate our words, like," Oh 44:50 , later I will say it like this. "That 44:54 won't work. We cannot maintain that. So 44:56 , what can maintain it? The character 44:58 within us. *Qawlan layyinan*—let's 45:02 practice these three things: forgive, 45:04 ask Allah for forgiveness for them, and 45:06 sincerely invite them to deliberate. 45:09 Listen to their opinions earnestly, it 45:12 will change our character so that what 45:14 comes out of our tongue will also be 45:16 different. See, the contents of a 45:20 teapot, the water that comes out of the 45:23 teapot, depends on what is inside it. 45:27 If it contains orange juice, surely 45:28 orange juice will come out. If it 45:30 contains coffee, surely coffee will 45:32 come out, right? So it depends on what 45:35 is inside. Well, this content must be 45:37 changed: *fau anhum, wastagfir lahu, 45:39 waswirhum fil amr*. Yes, *faidza*... 45:42 continuing the sentence, *faidza azamta 45:45 fatawakal alallah*. Now, after you have 45:48 done all of this, Allah says, that 45:50 means you have resolved. *E*, *azamta*, 45:54 *faidza azamta*...resolve is not 45:56 something we can just claim for 45:58 ourselves. Like, for instance," Oh, I 46:01 have been earnest, Ustadz. I want my 46:03 child to change, but why can't they 46:05 change? "What have you done, Ma'am? Sir 46:08 , have you used*kaulan layyinan*(gentle 46:10 speech)? Have these three things been 46:12 used to change yourself repeatedly? Yes 46:14 , if so, that is what is called*azam*( 46:16 resolve). But if not yet, then it 46:18 cannot be called*azam*. Because Allah's 46:20 sentence after those three things is* 46:22 faidza azamta*. After you have truly 46:25 resolved, then*fatawakal alallah*. Then 46:28 put your trust in Allah. Surrender it 46:30 to Allah. If you haven't done the work, 46:33 it's not called*tawakal*(trust). * 46:35 Tawakal*means do the work first. * 46:37 Faidza azamta*, then*tawakal alallah*, 46:39 only then surrender to Allah. It 46:42 doesn't work if we only grumble, just 46:46 complain, and operate with a top-down 46:49 approach. Then we say," Oh, I'll just 46:52 leave it to Allah. "Well, it doesn't 46:54 work like that either. There is a 46:56 method to it. What must we do first? 46:59 Our part is to strive and make an 47:00 effort first, ladies and gentlemen who 47:02 are blessed by Allah. Only then, put 47:04 your trust in Allah. *Faidza azamta*. 47:07 Allah. Now, people like this, Allah 47:10 says, receive a second bonus. * 47:13 Innallaha yuhibbul mutawakkilin*. Allah 47:16 truly loves them. Those who put their 47:19 trust, whose trust is correct, like 47:21 this, yes. But, uh, what? It is not* 47:24 tawakal*just claimed by oneself, but* 47:26 tawakal*after having made the effort 47:28 and endeavor like this, ladies and 47:30 gentlemen. Now, after that, then put 47:33 your trust in Allah. Even in the case 47:35 of Prophet Musa, it didn't succeed 47:36 either. Prophet Musa tried to preach to 47:39 his foster father, Pharaoh, and it 47:40 didn't succeed, right? But still, the 47:44 credit point goes to Prophet Musa and 47:46 Prophet Harun, which is the mercy of 47:48 Allah. So, actually, the benefit is for 47:52 us, the benefit is for the preacher, 47:55 for the one who invites, they directly 47:58 receive mercy from Allah Subhanahu wa 48:01 Ta'ala. Alright, ladies who are blessed 48:05 by Allah, gentlemen, brothers and 48:07 sisters, listeners of Rasil Radio, as 48:09 well as viewers of Rasil TV wherever 48:11 you may be. Lastly, I would like to 48:13 conclude in these last 2 minutes. There 48:16 is a study that was once conducted by 48:19 Robert Rosenthal, a psychologist at 48:22 Harvard University in the 60s, along 48:25 with Lenore Jacobson, which later 48:28 became very famous and is known as the 48:31 Pygmalion effect. This is just to give 48:36 us an illustration. The Quran is 48:39 actually already complete. Everything 48:42 is in this Quran, what can I say? 48:45 Unfortunately, many studies are 48:47 actually conducted outside of the 48:50 Muslim community. We should be the ones 48:53 doing this. But okay. So, in the 60s, a 48:55 study was conducted by Robert Rosenthal 48:58 and Lenore Jacobson. What kind of 49:01 research? So, this is Lenore Jacobson 49:03 in the picture, ladies and gentlemen, 49:05 brothers and sisters. Lenore Jacobson 49:08 was a principal, a female principal, 49:10 and this is her friend, what was his 49:12 name? Robert Rosenthal. Now, Robert 49:15 Rosenthal is a psychologist. So, they 49:17 decided to collaborate on research, 49:19 more or less. So, what was the research 49:21 ? Well, both of them created a fake 49:26 report for the elementary school 49:30 teachers. What kind of fake report? 49:36 They falsified the data for 10 students 49:39 , for example, stating in the report 49:42 that all 10 students were very bright. 49:48 In reality, out of those 10 students, 49:50 five were truly bright, and five were 49:53 truly slow and naughty. So, it was five 49:58 and five, just to make it easy. But 50:01 Robert Rosenthal and Lenore Jacobson, 50:03 as the principal and the Harvard 50:05 researcher, told the teachers that all 50:08 10 were excellent, smart children. The 50:12 teachers just believed them because it 50:14 was said by a researcher from Harvard 50:16 and Mrs. Lenore Jacobson, so they just 50:18 believed it. Now, unconsciously, this 50:23 trust from the teachers—that is why 50:26 in Surah 3: 159 it says to forgive them 50:29 . Forgiveness is a form of belief. We 50:35 believe that they have the potential to 50:38 change. Yes, like that. So, these 50:42 teachers believed that all 10 students 50:44 were great children. Even though among 50:47 those 10, some had low IQs and some had 50:50 high IQs. It turns out that because 50:53 they believed it, their attitudes 50:55 toward the students changed. The 50:58 naughty students—the teachers didn't 51:00 realize they were slow and naughty. 51:02 When things were explained, did they 51:03 understand? No. They didn't understand. 51:05 How can that be? Because they had 51:08 already been given data that these were 51:10 smart kids, so in the teachers 'minds 51:11 ..." Wow, smart kids are indeed like 51:13 this, critical, and like to ask 51:15 questions. "They don't just accept 51:17 anything easily. Something like that. 51:20 The teachers really believed it. Now, 51:22 here is the picture. So, let's start 51:25 from here, ladies and gentlemen, 51:27 brothers and sisters, let's start from 51:29 here, I'll circle it on the screen. 51:32 Teachers think student is smart. When a 51:37 teacher thinks or believes that their 51:40 student is smart, then the teacher 51:42 focuses on the student. The teacher 51:46 will truly focus on this child, 51:48 dedicating their attention and being 51:51 patient. Their heart becomes gentle. 51:55 Qaulan layyinan. Because the teacher 51:58 has used' qaulan layyinan, 'they are 52:01 patient, repeating things over and over 52:03 . Even to Pharaoh, one must use' qaulan 52:06 layyinan, 'right? Then the student 52:09 changes. Student learns more. And so, 52:13 the student will learn much more. Why? 52:16 Because of the impact of the teacher 52:18 who believed in them. Because this 52:23 child learns more and is motivated by 52:26 the teacher's belief, the child gets 52:29 higher grades. Higher grades, ladies 52:33 and gentlemen, may Allah have mercy on 52:35 you. So, that is indeed the situation. 52:37 Now, what is the Pygmalion effect? The 52:41 Pygmalion effect is a study showing 52:44 that people are influenced by the 52:48 expectations built upon them. So, 52:53 people are influenced by the 52:57 expectations placed upon them. If we 53:04 expect something from them, or have 53:07 high hopes for them, it will make it 53:10 easier for them to change themselves. 53:14 So, there is this phrase," My teacher 53:16 says I will pass. "The student says," 53:18 Wow, my teacher believes in me. "This 53:21 is reflected in gestures, in the use of 53:24 ' qaulan layyinan, 'gentle words, and 53:26 so on. And so, they will change. Ladies 53:29 and gentlemen, may Allah have mercy on 53:30 you. When I read about this Pygmalion 53:34 effect...Wow, the concept in the Quran 53:36 is actually greater, further, and more 53:39 powerful. We already have that concept 53:42 called' qaulan layyinan. 'Yes, this' 53:44 qaulan layyinan 'is truly extraordinary 53:47 . It’s just a shame that perhaps we 53:50 haven't fully explored it. Whereas the 53:54 purpose is meant for change, truly for 53:57 Da'wah. Even the most depraved person 54:00 on earth, Allah commands that they be 54:02 approached with' qaulan layyinan. 'That 54:05 is how it is, ladies and gentlemen, may 54:06 Allah have mercy on you. And so it 54:08 succeeds, what do you call it? The 54:12 Pygmalion effect was used in the 60s by 54:15 Robert Rosenthal and Lenore Jacobson 54:18 and is now adopted by many institutions 54:21 to change others. Actually, our Quranic 54:27 concept of' qaulan layyinan 'is far 54:29 greater and more powerful than just the 54:32 Pygmalion effect. It is something that 54:35 is quite similar to that. Ladies and 54:37 gentlemen, may Allah have mercy on you. 54:40 Hopefully, this will be beneficial for 54:42 us all. That is all I can convey on 54:45 this evening's occasion. Kaulan layinan 54:48 in our fourth edition of God's guidance 54:52 on speaking well. And God knows best. 54:56 With God's help and guidance. Peace be 54:58 upon you, and God's mercy and blessings 55:00 . Brothers and sisters, Tadabur 55:06 Al-Qur'an with Ustadz Doni Amir Sagap, 55:08 with the theme of God's guidance in 55:10 speech, featuring the subtheme: kaulan 55:13 layinan. It has been explained very 55:15 clearly, and those who wish to join or 55:18 ask questions, please send them via our 55:20 WhatsApp at 0811999720. We are back. In 55:27 the name of God, the Most Gracious, the 55:29 Most Merciful. In the name of God, the 1:00:04 Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. For 1:00:17 those in Islam, you are still with us, 1:00:19 brothers and sisters, on the Tadabur 1:00:21 Al-Qur'an program with Ustadz Doni Amir 1:00:22 Sagap. The theme is kaulan layinan 1:00:26 today, continuing themes from some time 1:00:29 ago, and many have joined us on Rasil 1:00:31 WhatsApp to greet us this evening, 1:00:34 Ustadz. There is Mrs. Tati, and Mrs. 1:00:37 Hajah Saidah who are also listening. 1:00:38 Thank you, Ustadz, for the advice and 1:00:40 enlightenment. There is also someone 1:00:42 from Baros, Sukabumi, Mrs. Umu Hani, 1:00:44 who is listening in Baros as well. 1:00:46 Thank you very much, Ma'am. And also 1:00:48 Mr. Nur Sumiatno, Mrs. Piza, Mrs. 1:00:52 Angget, Mr. Saleh in Bekasi, Mrs. 1:00:58 Eti Rustaminto in Singapore, Bunda 1:01:01 Elmida, Mrs. Nia, Mr. Junaidi, and many 1:01:04 more. Someone is also asking if Ustadz 1:01:08 Doni's study on Zoom is still going on? 1:01:11 Does it continue, or how is it? It is 1:01:12 still on, right, Ustadz? Yes, 1:01:14 it is. 1:01:14 Every Friday morning. 1:01:16 Friday morning, God willing. 1:01:17 Yes. Through what phone number, Ustadz? 1:01:20 If they want to join, they asked. 1:01:22 Please at 08 1:01:26 77 0877 1:01:27 0877 1:01:31 8021 1:01:35 1692 1:01:36 1692 1:01:37 877 8021 1692 1:01:43 yes, please. 1:01:45 Ready for Friday morning via Zoom, if 1:01:47 you want to join the MMQ Majelis Maqbul 1:01:49 Quran study, someone is asking, Ustadz. 1:01:53 The first one I will read is from Mr. 1:01:59 Indra. Peace be upon you, and God's 1:02:01 mercy and blessings, Ustadz Doni. 1:02:03 Yes, 1:02:04 Ustadz. There are cases where people 1:02:07 have gentle, kind, and polite words. 1:02:10 Yet, they are the ones who behave 1:02:13 poorly. Their actions are different 1:02:15 from their words, and they are actually 1:02:17 criminals. How is this, Ustadz? What 1:02:20 causes a person to be inconsistent with 1:02:22 their words? Why does God's mercy not 1:02:24 reach them despite their gentle 1:02:26 language? Please enlighten us, Ustadz. 1:02:29 Thank you. 1:02:29 Yes, thank you, Mr. Indra, for the 1:02:31 question. So, from our explanation 1:02:35 earlier, Mr. Indra and brothers and 1:02:37 sisters, ladies and gentlemen who are 1:02:39 blessed by God, there must be harmony 1:02:41 between the heart within and the words 1:02:43 that come out. 1:02:45 And that is why we discussed the 3rd 1:02:47 chapter, verse 159, Surah Ali Imran, 1:02:50 which is about what is in the heart. 1:02:53 What is inside the heart then comes out 1:02:57 in speech and gestures. So, what if a 1:03:01 person's speech, gestures, and 1:03:03 intonation are soft, and they may 1:03:05 appear kind in front of others, but 1:03:07 their behavior is different? Well, this 1:03:11 certainly falls into the category of 1:03:13 people known as hypocrites or nifak. 1:03:17 Well, one of the signs of the 1:03:19 hypocrites, what is it? Idza, idza 1:03:23 haddasa kadzaba. When they speak, they 1:03:27 lie. 1:03:27 Yes. 1:03:28 That's it. So what they express is 1:03:31 actually a lie. There is no harmony 1:03:34 between their heart and what comes out 1:03:37 in their speech, their words. So it 1:03:41 must be aligned between the inside and 1:03:43 the outside. I see. 1:03:46 It must be consistent with their 1:03:47 actions, Ustaz, the words themselves. 1:03:49 Yes. Yes. Only then will Allah's mercy 1:03:51 come to them. 1:03:52 Yes. That’s when it’s truly real. 1:03:54 So if it was just, you know, just for 1:03:57 show, then it’s not genuine. 1:04:00 Alright, next we move to a question 1:04:02 from Ibu Femi in Tebet. Ustaz, peace be 1:04:04 upon you, and Allah's mercy and 1:04:05 blessings. 1:04:05 And peace be upon you too. 1:04:08 Back when I was in elementary, middle, 1:04:10 and high school, there were subjects on 1:04:12 character education or ethics, and we 1:04:14 were all taught how to speak to our 1:04:16 elders and so on. All those subjects 1:04:20 have been removed. How can children 1:04:23 today respect and speak appropriately 1:04:26 to their parents or older people? Your 1:04:29 advice, Ustaz, is highly expected for 1:04:31 educators so that schools will include 1:04:33 ethics lessons and the like. 1:04:36 That is all, Ustaz. 1:04:37 Yes. Thank you, Ibu Femi, for asking. 1:04:41 It is very true, we are concerned, very 1:04:43 worried about this situation. 1:04:46 That is why it is important for us to 1:04:49 really choose schools that still 1:04:52 prioritize morality. Morality is the, 1:04:56 what is it called? What? The gateway to 1:05:01 knowledge. So, manners are taught 1:05:03 before knowledge. So, it is manners 1:05:06 that lead to knowledge. If we open 1:05:08 Surah Al-Mujadilah, for example, 1:05:11 verse 11." O you who have believed, 1:05:15 when you are told,' Space yourselves in 1:05:17 assemblies, 'then make space... "and so 1:05:19 on. O you who believe, if it is said to 1:05:22 you," Make room in the gathering, "then 1:05:24 make room for your seating or open your 1:05:26 hearts together in the gathering of 1:05:28 knowledge. Later there is the phrase" 1:05:31 Yarfaillahulladzina amanu minkum 1:05:33 walladzina utul ilma darajat. "The 1:05:35 phrase" utul ilma "is, or in that verse 1:05:38 , it is explained after manners. The 1:05:42 manners of opening one's heart, the 1:05:44 manners of wanting to respect one 1:05:46 another. Only then," 1:05:48 Yarfaillahulladzina amanu minkum 1:05:51 walladzina utul ilma darajat. "So 1:05:55 knowledge comes after manners. Yes, 1:05:59 manners before knowledge. Yes, like 1:06:02 that. So, manners should be taught 1:06:04 first, and only then should they 1:06:05 acquire knowledge. That is the correct 1:06:08 way. Therefore, hopefully, we can build 1:06:12 many schools, especially elementary 1:06:16 schools for our future generations, 1:06:19 that teach manners. If it is no longer 1:06:24 in the curriculum, maybe we can teach 1:06:27 it locally at school so it can truly be 1:06:30 applied. So, manners are actually the 1:06:33 gateway to gaining knowledge. Manners 1:06:36 before knowledge. Well, that’s it, it 1:06:40 reminds me of my friend, Kari. 1:06:43 I 1:06:44 The person isn't smart, right? 1:06:46 Hm. 1:06:47 But his conduct toward his teachers, 1:06:49 toward the ustaz, and toward our kyai 1:06:51 in the past was truly exemplary. So, 1:06:54 although he wasn't smart, he was able 1:06:57 to absorb knowledge well and very 1:06:59 efficiently. Like that. So the 1:07:02 knowledge he received truly became 1:07:04 something. Now, that is also a blessing 1:07:07 and mercy from Allah because of that 1:07:09 conduct, right? Adab before knowledge. 1:07:11 Indeed, adab before knowledge. Yes, 1:07:14 this is also a similar question from an 1:07:17 educator, from Ibu Reti from Omaret, 1:07:20 right? Peace be upon you, and Allah's 1:07:22 mercy and blessings, Ustaz Doni. 1:07:24 As an early childhood teacher, I teach 1:07:26 how to speak softly and behave well. 1:07:28 The goal is to be a good example. But 1:07:31 it is very contradictory when these 1:07:33 students grow up in an environment 1:07:34 where they constantly hear harsh words, 1:07:36 sometimes even dirty words. What should 1:07:39 a teacher do? Children spend most of 1:07:41 their time outside of school, in their 1:07:43 environment and with their families. 1:07:45 Please enlighten us, Ustaz Doni. 1:07:47 Ah, yes. Thank you, Ibu Reti, for 1:07:49 asking. So, I think one interesting 1:07:54 thing is that my second child, my 1:07:58 daughter, 1:08:01 is going to college, God willing, at a 1:08:05 university, specifically for primary 1:08:08 school teacher education (PGSD). PGSD. 1:08:13 Now, to enroll, she was asked to write 1:08:17 an essay. So I suggested, wouldn't it 1:08:21 be good to write about her goals for 1:08:24 when she becomes a teacher, you know? 1:08:28 And I told her, it would be great if, 1:08:31 once you become a teacher, for instance 1:08:35 , 1:08:36 you talk a lot with the students' 1:08:38 parents. Because the students 'parents 1:08:43 are actually the ones who are very 1:08:45 influential on the child. Teachers are 1:08:49 only with them for a short time at 1:08:50 school. 1:08:51 The ones who are there for a long time 1:08:53 and whom the child truly takes as a 1:08:55 role model are actually the parents. 1:08:58 The parents. So it is quite difficult 1:09:01 if a teacher has already, what is it 1:09:03 called? Planted seeds of goodness. Only 1:09:10 for them to go home and have those 1:09:12 seeds uprooted or thrown away, replaced 1:09:15 with bad seeds. Then, day by day, the 1:09:18 work will just be like that, won't it? 1:09:21 So it's planted, then ruined, planted 1:09:23 again, then ruined, and in the end, 1:09:25 there is no progress. Yes. 1:09:27 So it would be good for teachers, of 1:09:30 course in a polite way, with gentle 1:09:33 speech, to invite the guardians to meet 1:09:35 . Invite the guardians; perhaps there 1:09:38 is no need for anything fancy, no need 1:09:41 for a feast, just something simple. But 1:09:43 have routine meetings to talk about the 1:09:46 child, exchange thoughts, 1:09:48 heart-to-heart, for the sake of the 1:09:50 child. It's fine. The teacher, in this 1:09:54 case, Ibu Reti who asked. For instance, 1:09:57 you could set aside more time to 1:10:00 schedule when the parents can come. 1:10:03 When do these children's parents visit? 1:10:05 Regularly. 1:10:06 Yes. Don't just meet them once when 1:10:08 it's time to get the report cards, okay 1:10:10 ? Don't. Otherwise, what's it called? 1:10:15 These students are a trust from God, 1:10:17 and if we're not careful, we might 1:10:19 betray that trust. Don't just think," 1:10:22 Ah, let it be, they're other people's 1:10:24 kids, as long as I teach and get paid. 1:10:26 "Don't do that; our responsibility is 1:10:28 heavy and great. But if you have done 1:10:31 it, refer back to verse 159," faidza 1:10:33 azamta fatawakal alallah "—after we 1:10:35 have resolved, meaning we have taken 1:10:37 action, then we put our trust in Allah. 1:10:42 So, one thing I recommend to Mrs. Reti 1:10:45 and all my brothers and sisters, 1:10:47 teachers, ladies and gentlemen 1:10:50 everywhere, it's not a loss to set 1:10:52 aside an hour or two to call the 1:10:55 parents and chat. If they ask," Oh, 1:10:58 what is it? Is something wrong with my 1:11:00 child? "No, Ma'am. We just want to chat 1:11:02 and exchange ideas. Because the ones we 1:11:05 are going to educate are your children. 1:11:08 That's it. How is it? What should I do 1:11:12 at school, please tell me about the 1:11:15 child, what do you expect, and so on; 1:11:19 being open and connecting parents and 1:11:22 teachers is much better, and the impact 1:11:26 will be more extraordinary, God willing 1:11:30 . That's roughly it. 1:11:33 Right, so cooperation between teachers 1:11:35 and parents, Ustaz, and the environment 1:11:37 must also support that learning. 1:11:40 Alright, Ustaz, back to the question 1:11:42 from Mrs. Puji. Peace be upon you and 1:11:43 Allah's mercy and blessings. 1:11:45 And peace be upon you, and Allah's 1:11:47 mercy. 1:11:47 Ustaz, what about us who often speak 1:11:50 poorly to ourselves? Because it has 1:11:54 become a habit, when I do something 1:11:56 stupid, I often talk to myself and 1:11:58 blame myself. For example," Ugh, what a 1:12:01 fool, how can you not even do that? " 1:12:04 Now, is that sinful, or does it affect 1:12:06 our soul, Ustaz? That is all. 1:12:08 Yes. Thank you Mrs. Puji for the 1:12:10 question and to the ladies and 1:12:11 gentlemen whom Allah loves. My brothers 1:12:13 and sisters, listeners of Radio Rasil. 1:12:15 Likewise, viewers of Rasil TV, there is 1:12:19 something called self-talk or pep talk. 1:12:24 Yes. 1:12:26 Self-talk, ladies and gentlemen, fellow 1:12:29 congregants, Rasil TV viewers, and 1:12:31 Radio Rasil listeners, is very 1:12:33 influential on us. Self-talk. That is 1:12:38 why, for example, we read the Qur'an. 1:12:42 Hmm. 1:12:43 And we understand the meaning while 1:12:45 reading it, it is very influential when 1:12:48 it is our own tongues reciting it. When 1:12:52 we read and understand it, it enters 1:12:55 into us, which is very influential 1:12:57 because it becomes self-talk. Well, 1:13:01 likewise with the self-talk, the words 1:13:05 we direct toward ourselves." Oh, how 1:13:09 stupid of me, "for example, right? That 1:13:10 has a huge impact, ladies and gentlemen 1:13:12 . Try it later, or perhaps on another 1:13:15 occasion, uh...what do you call it? God 1:13:19 willing, in the next meeting, I will 1:13:20 show it to you. We once conducted an 1:13:23 experiment. Try doing this experiment 1:13:25 yourselves; it's quite possible. Yes, 1:13:27 we once conducted an experiment, uh, 1:13:31 taking some rice and putting it into 1:13:34 empty plastic cups. Two empty plastic 1:13:38 cups, then covered with plastic wrap. 1:13:41 Now, on one cup, we wrote words that 1:13:46 were, uh, not kind." You useless rice, 1:13:51 you taste bad, you stupid rice. "Stick 1:13:55 it on there. 1:13:56 Yes. 1:13:56 Stick it on the outside. Now, on the 1:14:00 other one, using the same ink and paper 1:14:02 , we wrote words of praise." You are 1:14:05 very useful rice. "" You are great, 1:14:08 very fragrant, very beneficial, "and so 1:14:11 on. Stick that on the other cup. Please 1:14:15 , ladies and gentlemen, try this 1:14:17 experiment at home to see for 1:14:18 yourselves. So, what were the results? 1:14:21 Extraordinary. They were different, 1:14:24 Brother Fahri. Ladies and gentlemen who 1:14:25 are blessed by God, my brothers and 1:14:26 sisters. 1:14:28 The one with the insulting, pessimistic 1:14:32 words like" How stupid "and so on, 1:14:35 ended up rotting faster, and it rotted 1:14:38 black. 1:14:41 It rotted black, completely spoiled. He 1:14:43 he. 1:14:44 Meanwhile, the one with the kind words, 1:14:46 like" You are beneficial, you are 1:14:48 useful, you are learning. "What if we 1:14:51 make a mistake, Ustaz? Say," It's a 1:14:53 learning experience. "" Ah, from this, 1:14:56 you are learning. "" From this, you can 1:14:59 understand more deeply. "" From this, 1:15:02 you gain experience to be better. " 1:15:04 That's how you do it. Now, the rice 1:15:06 with the kind words took a long time to 1:15:10 rot. Much longer. It took longer to rot 1:15:14 , and, uh, it decayed like a fermented 1:15:17 soy cake. So, it didn't turn black, but 1:15:19 , uh, it turned yellow and orange, 1:15:22 something like that. 1:15:24 So, 1:15:26 if it has that kind of effect on rice, 1:15:27 imagine the effect on ourselves. Ma'am, 1:15:30 Sir, be careful; that is very dangerous 1:15:33 . Don't, don't be easy on that, don't 1:15:36 do it. Words are not just simple things 1:15:38 . They are energy we release, coming 1:15:41 from the energy within ourselves. If we 1:15:45 direct it back to ourselves or those 1:15:47 around us, it certainly won't just 1:15:49 vanish. It will become energy that is 1:15:53 captured by others, right, or by 1:15:55 ourselves. Now, if there's no one else 1:15:59 around, then we ourselves are the ones 1:16:01 who catch those words, right? 1:16:03 That's how it is. So, there was a study 1:16:06 , let me add a bit more, a famous and 1:16:09 very, very interesting study that was 1:16:12 published a while ago. In the Solomon 1:16:16 Islands, near Australia. Huh. 1:16:21 There, the natives, the original people 1:16:23 of the Solomon Islands, they don't cut 1:16:26 down trees with saws; they gather and 1:16:29 surround the tree. 1:16:33 And then they say unkind things to the 1:16:35 tree. You're useless, you're stupid, 1:16:38 you're this, you're that. After doing 1:16:40 this several times, the tree eventually 1:16:42 dies on its own. 1:16:43 Goodness gracious. Only after it dies 1:16:46 on its own is it then taken, burned, 1:16:49 and so on, because they don't use saws. 1:16:52 So, words have a massive impact. What 1:16:56 we hear, and especially what we say 1:16:59 ourselves, 1:17:00 has an even greater impact. So, we must 1:17:03 be careful with our words, especially 1:17:06 when directed at ourselves. It is very 1:17:09 influential. That's it, Mrs. Puji. 1:17:11 Don't let it be like that, okay. It 1:17:12 turns out it's very dangerous. Indeed. 1:17:15 It's very dangerous to destroy 1:17:16 ourselves. 1:17:18 Goodness gracious. Back to the final 1:17:20 question, Ustaz. 1:17:21 The last one from a servant of Allah. 1:17:23 Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi 1:17:24 wabarakatuh Ustaz Doni. 1:17:25 Waalaikumsalam warahmatullahi 1:17:26 wabarakatuh. 1:17:26 Regarding educating children about' 1:17:28 kaulan layinan '(gentle speech). What 1:17:31 are the limits when we are being firm 1:17:33 in our words and behavior toward 1:17:35 children if gentle speech has been 1:17:37 tried but there's no change? For 1:17:40 example, regarding managing time so 1:17:43 they are more disciplined and 1:17:45 responsible. But in reality, playing on 1:17:48 their phones takes up more time than 1:17:50 doing their duties as students or 1:17:52 children. I often feel overwhelmed by 1:17:54 this, Ustaz. Please enlighten me. That 1:17:56 is all. 1:17:57 Yes, thank you to the mother or father 1:18:00 who asked. This issue is not simple. 1:18:03 Yesterday we talked about' kaulan 1:18:05 sadida '. Sadid. 1:18:06 So,' kaulan layinan 'is the 1:18:08 continuation of what we discussed 1:18:09 before. Kaulan sadidah. Kaulan sadidah 1:18:12 is actually the key, especially when 1:18:15 dealing with children. Because here's 1:18:19 the thing, a child is addicted to their 1:18:22 phone because they get a hormone called 1:18:26 dopamine from it. 1:18:28 Dopamine. 1:18:29 What is dopamine? It is a hormone 1:18:32 produced by the brain when we 1:18:34 successfully pursue something and 1:18:36 achieve it; we get dopamine. So, when 1:18:39 they play games and succeed in clearing 1:18:42 a level, 1:18:43 clearing a stage, they are incredibly 1:18:45 happy. Why? Because dopamine is flowing 1:18:49 in their brains. Now, dopamine is a 1:18:54 drug, it's addictive; dopamine is 1:18:58 addictive. 1:19:01 That's why in America or 1:19:03 English-speaking countries, another 1:19:06 name for heroin is" dope. "Short for 1:19:09 dopamine. 1:19:11 Because they will always feel like it's 1:19:12 not enough. 1:19:14 Yeah. So, what if a child is already 1:19:17 addicted to their phone? Well, we have 1:19:20 to replace the source of their dopamine 1:19:23 . Make yourself, or their mother, the 1:19:27 source of their dopamine. Now, what 1:19:30 does that mean? You have to be more 1:19:32 interesting than the phone. What does 1:19:36 that mean? More interesting than the 1:19:38 phone. Try to investigate. When they 1:19:41 play together, what's called' mabar ', 1:19:43 playing together, you know. For example 1:19:45 , the game, what's it called? Oh, man. 1:19:49 Eh, 1:19:49 Mobile Legends. Mobile Legends, 1:19:50 Mobile Legends is very popular for 1:19:53 playing together; their dopamine, 1:19:55 ladies and gentlemen, comes from being 1:19:58 together with their friends. So they 1:20:01 want to prove," Wow, I can do this, I 1:20:03 can do that, I'm great, I'm this, I'm 1:20:05 that. "That's why they insist on 1:20:07 playing, for what? Self-actualization, 1:20:10 to show they're great and capable, 1:20:12 amidst people who will acknowledge them 1:20:14 through the game. What does that mean? 1:20:19 It means that perhaps all this time, 1:20:22 you as parents haven't really 1:20:24 acknowledged your child as someone with 1:20:27 great achievements, who is capable, and 1:20:30 so on. 1:20:33 Maybe you've only been demanding," You 1:20:34 should be like this, you should be like 1:20:36 that, you do this, you do that. "How 1:20:38 much do you praise your child? How 1:20:41 often do you say to your child," Son/ 1:20:43 daughter, you are a blessing to your 1:20:44 mother, yes. "" You are smart, you are 1:20:48 great, you are good, "just see how that 1:20:50 will have an impact, because that is 1:20:53 also dopamine. 1:20:54 Yes. 1:20:57 Now, if you can replace the dopamine 1:20:59 offered by the phone with yourself as a 1:21:01 parent, the child won't want to spend 1:21:03 time on the phone anymore; they will 1:21:05 want to spend time with you, with us, 1:21:07 with their parents. Because they feel 1:21:10 good there, because the dopamine is 1:21:12 there. So, praise the children, praise 1:21:17 them. 1:21:18 Praise them sincerely. That is' kaulan 1:21:21 sadida 'as we discussed last meeting, 1:21:23 yes, sincerely. Look them in the eyes 1:21:26 sincerely. 1:21:27 Give good praise. Don't just pay lip 1:21:29 service, okay. And don't give sarcastic 1:21:33 praise, either. Like," Oh, your body 1:21:36 smells so bad. "" Oh, who smells like 1:21:38 body odor here? "" Don't you use this? 1:21:39 "" Don't you use that? "Don't be like 1:21:40 that. Don't just do that. Well, 1:21:42 children will definitely run away to 1:21:45 where they can get dopamine. Do we 1:21:48 think that we as parents won't be held 1:21:50 accountable for that before God later? 1:21:53 Our children love playing games because 1:21:55 they never get dopamine, never get 1:21:57 praise from their parents. Eventually, 1:22:00 they look for praise elsewhere. Because 1:22:02 of gaming, they meet this friend, that 1:22:03 friend, and eventually they fall into 1:22:05 bad company, drugs, and so on. Do you 1:22:09 think you won't be held accountable for 1:22:10 that? It's that severe, that impactful 1:22:16 in our current era, ladies and 1:22:17 gentlemen. Because of gadgets, yes, but 1:22:21 we must face it, we must really, truly 1:22:24 face it. This is our problem; we can't 1:22:27 just keep complaining without taking 1:22:29 action. We can't. There must be action. 1:22:33 So, the point is to make ourselves more 1:22:35 interesting than a smartphone. How? 1:22:38 Really focus on seeing the child's 1:22:40 strengths. Praise them, build their 1:22:42 confidence because that is what they 1:22:45 are looking for by playing games. That 1:22:47 is what they are seeking, and we must 1:22:49 understand that. Exactly. Don't, just 1:22:54 don't, don't make the phone—there are 1:22:56 parents now who use phones as a tool to 1:22:59 keep children quiet." Alright, alright, 1:23:01 just be quiet, be quiet, be quiet. "" 1:23:02 Okay, just go play. "Oh, that is truly 1:23:05 dangerous. That is very dangerous. So, 1:23:08 make ourselves more interesting than 1:23:11 the phone. We can make our children 1:23:14 really want to be close to us. That 1:23:17 means praise the child a lot. Embrace 1:23:23 them, acknowledge their existence, and 1:23:25 ask for their opinions. Don't just give 1:23:29 them orders, don't just, what? Don't 1:23:32 just use a top-down approach, being 1:23:33 sarcastic, calling them smelly, saying 1:23:35 this and that, saying they are lacking 1:23:37 this or that, don't understand this, 1:23:39 don't understand that, and so on. 1:23:42 Eventually, they won't like us, won't 1:23:44 be happy with us; instead of getting 1:23:46 dopamine, they just get scolded and 1:23:49 insulted. So, it comes back to us." Why 1:23:53 is it always my fault, Ustaz? "" Why 1:23:55 isn't it the child's fault? "Well, we 1:23:57 are talking about our role as parents, 1:24:00 right? And children are a trust from 1:24:03 God to us, aren't they? So, if I were 1:24:07 giving a lecture to children, I would 1:24:09 speak in a different way. But since we 1:24:12 are parents, we are the ones who must 1:24:14 introspect. So, it is a bit strange to 1:24:18 ask," Why isn't it the child's fault? " 1:24:21 " Why must it always be the parents' 1:24:22 fault? "Because this is our 1:24:24 responsibility, that’s why. God will 1:24:27 hold us accountable later according to 1:24:28 our capacity and our responsibility. 1:24:31 Something like that. 1:24:33 Very well, Ustaz. We are limited by 1:24:35 time, perhaps before we wrap up, you 1:24:36 could summarize today's discussion, 1:24:37 Ustaz. 1:24:38 Thank you, Kang Fahri. To all our 1:24:40 brothers and sisters, ladies and 1:24:41 gentlemen, listeners of Radio Rasil. 1:24:42 And also to the viewers of Rasil TV. 1:24:46 The words we utter, what we express— 1:24:48 whether verbally, in writing, through 1:24:50 gestures, and so on—will be recorded 1:24:53 by the angels Raqib and Atid. Each of 1:24:57 us will later be held accountable 1:24:59 before God as to whether we have 1:25:01 followed the method that God explained 1:25:04 in the guidance for life He prepared 1:25:07 for us, namely the Quran. Ladies and 1:25:10 gentlemen who are blessed by God, 1:25:12 tonight we have talked at length. Let 1:25:15 us then implement or practice it in our 1:25:19 lives. God willing, Allah will bestow 1:25:23 His mercy and love upon us. We are the 1:25:26 ones who benefit. 1:25:28 The benefits come to us first, right? 1:25:31 The ones who will receive the benefits 1:25:33 are us. So let us do it, God willing, 1:25:36 Allah's mercy will pour down and flow 1:25:39 to us. And Allah knows best. Hopefully, 1:25:41 it provides benefits. I apologize for 1:25:42 any shortcomings, both physical and 1:25:43 spiritual. May there be guidance and 1:25:45 success. Peace be upon you, and Allah's 1:25:47 mercy and blessings. And peace be upon 1:25:49 you, and Allah's mercy and blessings. 1:25:51 That was our Quran reflection session 1:25:53 with Ustaz Doni Amir Sagap, discussing 1:25:55 the theme of Allah's guidance in speech 1:25:57 with the subtheme of gentle words. We 1:25:59 have listened to it together. Hopefully 1:26:01 , what has been conveyed is useful for 1:26:03 everyone. I am the one on duty, Pak 1:26:04 Hadir, along with my friends Neza and 1:26:05 also Yusuf Subamit. Glory be to You, O 1:26:07 Allah, and with Your praise, I bear 1:26:08 witness that there is no god but You, I 1:26:09 seek Your forgiveness and repent to You 1:26:11 . And peace be upon you, and Allah's 1:26:12 mercy and blessings.
