0:52 Brail TV In the name of Allah, the Most 1:56 Gracious, the Most Merciful. Peace be 1:57 upon you, and Allah's mercy and 1:58 blessings. And upon you. 1:59 >> O Allah, send prayers upon our master 2:01 Muhammad and the family of Muhammad. 2:03 Praise be to Allah, we meet again today 2:05 , Friday, the 19th of Rabi 'al-Thani 2:08 1448 Hijri, or October 2nd, 2026. We 2:11 meet again in the program "Reflection 2:13 under the Shade of the Qur'an" for the 2:15 Q&A edition. Please send your questions 2:17 to 0811999720. Praise be to Allah, 2:22 Ustaz Husin is already here. Also here 2:24 are Rianto, Keizia, then Rafa and 2:29 Rianto, yes. And certainly, Ustaz Algi 2:32 is also here. Okay, please send your 2:36 questions to 0811999720. God willing, 2:40 they will be answered by Ustaz Husin. 2:42 Peace be upon you, Ustaz Husin. 2:43 >> Peace be upon you, and Allah's mercy 2:44 and blessings. 2:45 >> Alright, let us begin this program by 2:46 reciting Al-Fatihah. 2:48 >> I seek refuge in Allah from the 2:49 accursed Satan. In the name of Allah, 2:53 the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. 2:58 All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the 3:01 worlds. The Most Gracious, the Most 3:04 Merciful. Master of the Day of Judgment 3:08 . You alone we worship, and You alone 3:13 we ask for help. Guide us to the 3:18 straight path. The path of those upon 3:22 whom You have bestowed favor. Not of 3:26 those who have evoked [Your] anger or 3:29 of those who are astray. 3:34 >> Praise be to Allah, we have recited 3:36 Surah Al-Fatihah together. May Allah 3:39 make it easy for us to understand the 3:41 answers provided by our Ustaz, our 3:44 teacher. Alright, the first question is 3:47 from Mrs. Atik Priang. Peace be upon 3:50 you, Ustaz Husin. 3:51 >> And upon you. 3:52 >> Ustaz, what is the ruling on making up 3:54 (qada) prayers for the prayers we 3:56 missed when we were teenagers, where I 3:58 often skipped prayers? Is it enough to 4:00 just ask for forgiveness (istighfar), 4:02 or is it mandatory to perform qada? If 4:04 one must perform qada, how is it done? 4:09 >> In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious 4:10 , the Most Merciful. All praise is due 4:11 to Allah, Lord of the worlds. An 4:15 abundant, good, and blessed praise as 4:19 our Lord loves. O Allah, send blessings 4:26 , peace, and grace upon Your servant 4:29 and Messenger, our master and prophet 4:31 Muhammad, and upon his family and 4:34 companions. Glory be to You, we have no 4:40 knowledge except what You have taught 4:41 us; indeed, You are the All-Knowing, 4:43 the Wise. And there is no power nor 4:46 strength except by Allah, the Most High 4:48 , the Almighty. O Allah, grant us mercy 4:51 from Yourself and teach us beneficial 4:53 knowledge from You, and benefit us with 4:54 what You have taught us. Brothers and 4:58 sisters who are blessed by Allah. May 5:00 the peace and mercy of Allah and His 5:03 blessings be upon you. An interesting 5:10 question from 5:12 >> Mrs. Atik Priandi. 5:13 >> Mrs. Atik concerning someone who, in 5:17 their youth, in their teenage years, 5:19 skipped prayers. Then, after they began 5:24 maintaining their prayers, they wonder, 5:26 "Is it necessary to make up (qada) the 5:28 prayers they once missed in the past?" 5:32 Is it enough to just recite istighfar? 5:37 In this case, there are two opinions. 5:41 The first opinion, which was stated by 5:50 Ibn Taymiyyah and his followers, is 5:54 that if a person misses an obligatory 5:59 prayer, they cannot perform qada. They 6:06 cannot perform qada for their old 6:08 prayers; as a sign of their regret, 6:11 they should increase their voluntary ( 6:14 sunnah) prayers. Their evidence in this 6:19 matter is the words of the Messenger, 6:21 may Allah bless him and grant him peace 6:23 . Now, the evidence for this opinion is 6:29 one report narrated from Umm Salamah 6:35 who said, "We were commanded to make up 6:37 for our fasting, but we were not 6:39 commanded to make up for our prayers."" 6:42 That we were ordered to make up our 6:45 fasting that we missed.""But we were 6:50 not ordered to make up the prayers we 6:52 missed." So, when a woman is 6:55 menstruating or bleeding postpartum, 6:57 she is not obligated to perform prayers 6:59 and is not obligated to make up for 7:01 those prayers. So, based on this, Ibn 7:04 Taymiyyah and those who agree with him 7:07 say there is no qada. Prayer cannot be 7:10 made up if left behind, but increase 7:12 your sunnah prayers and increase your 7:15 repentance (istighfar). As for the 7:19 second opinion, this opinion is the one 7:24 that I choose, that a person who leaves 7:31 prayer intentionally is obligated to 7:33 make up their prayers as much as they 7:36 are able. Because Allah Subhanahu wa 7:43 ta'ala in the Quran explains for those 7:47 who commit sins then repent by, besides 7:51 returning to Allah, filling their time 7:55 with righteous deeds. "Illa man taba wa 8:00 amana wa amila amalan shalihah."" 8:04 Faulaika yubaddilullahu sayyiatihim 8:07 hasanat." Except for those who commit 8:13 sins, they are those who repent and 8:16 then perform righteous deeds. Then 8:23 Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala will replace 8:26 the pages that previously contained bad 8:28 deeds with righteous deeds out of 8:31 Allah's mercy and grace. He makes an 8:36 effort. If it turns out he has tried 8:39 but is unable to perform all the 8:43 mistakes he left behind before or to 8:47 make up the mistakes he left behind, 8:51 namely leaving prayer. Then Allah 8:54 Subhanahu wa ta'ala is the Most 8:56 Forgiving and Most Merciful. As in the 8:59 Prophet's hadith, "Ittaqillaha haitsu 9:02 ma kunta." Fear Allah wherever you are. 9:08 "Wa atbi'is-sayyi'atal-hasanata tamhuha 9:13 ." Then you should follow up the bad 9:16 deed you did with a good deed that 9:18 follows it. "Wa khaliqinnasa 9:21 bi-khuluqin hasan." And treat people 9:23 with good character. As for the hadith 9:28 of Umm Salamah radiallahu anha, this 9:31 hadith explains women who leave prayer 9:33 due to a Sharia excuse or in a state of 9:39 postnatal bleeding (nifas), yes. Then 9:41 automatically Allah eases it. Eases 9:45 what? Eases them by not having to make 9:49 up their prayers. But the fasts they 9:53 missed because of excuses like 9:55 menstruation or postnatal bleeding, 9:58 they are obligated to make up their 10:00 fasts. This hadith or Umm Salamah 10:05 explains that we are not commanded to 10:09 make up the prayers we left, but we are 10:13 commanded to make up our fasts. This 10:18 relates to people who leave prayer, yes 10:19 , in what way? Sharia-based. 10:22 >> Because of a Sharia excuse. But those 10:25 who leave prayer due to negligence and 10:27 they are Muslims who are of sound mind, 10:29 then they repeat their prayers. How do 10:34 they do it? The way is that every time 10:37 a prayer time enters, before performing 10:40 the obligatory prayer, 10:43 >> yes, they perform their makeup (qada) 10:45 prayer. Say for Fajr prayer, they pray 10:47 two raka'ats before the Fajr prayer. 10:51 Ask Allah that this can be a 10:52 replacement for the prayers left behind 10:54 previously, O Allah. 10:56 >> When it's time for Dhuhr, they pray 10:59 Dhuhr to replace the previous ones. 11:02 After that, only then the obligatory 11:04 prayer. 11:05 >> Likewise for Asr prayer. Likewise for 11:07 Maghrib prayer. Likewise for Isha 11:09 prayer. He makes an effort. Even if 11:11 it's only been one day, say he passes 11:13 away with this effort and sincerity, 11:15 may Allah forgive his past sins and 11:18 mistakes. As for the sunnah prayers 11:21 that are encouraged for those who 11:24 repent and left their prayers in the 11:28 past, those sunnah prayers function as 11:31 patches. 11:32 >> H 11:33 >> if we pray the obligatory prayer and 11:35 there are shortcomings in our 11:36 obligatory prayers. Well, these sunnah 11:39 prayers, both qabliyah and ba'diyah, 11:41 become patches for our prayer 11:42 deficiencies. 11:44 >> But sunnah prayers will not replace the 11:46 obligatory ones. Since he intentionally 11:50 abandoned mandatory prayers, the best 11:52 course of action for him is to perform 11:55 qada (make-up) prayers to the best of 11:57 his ability. Suppose it has only been a 12:02 day, two days, or say a month since he 12:04 passed away, even though he had 12:06 abandoned prayers for quite a long time 12:08 . Here, with a servant's effort and 12:11 sincerity in repenting to Allah, Allah 12:14 Subhanahu wa ta'ala will open the doors 12:16 of His mercy and forgiveness as wide as 12:18 possible. There are two opinions on 12:20 this. If you wish to follow the opinion 12:25 of Ibn Taymiyyah and his colleagues, go 12:28 ahead, or for those who follow the view 12:30 that one is obligated to perform qada 12:33 prayers to their best ability, as an 12:38 effort of repentance and regret. He 12:42 replaces what was missed with prayers 12:44 intended as substitutes before our 12:47 obligatory prayers. Now, for the Fajr 12:50 time, usually after Fajr, there are no 12:53 more prayers to be performed, right? 12:56 Except for prayers like Tahiyatul 12:58 Masjid or the funeral prayer, he can 13:01 perform the qada for past Fajr prayers 13:03 before the current Fajr prayer. 13:07 >> Likewise, at the time of Asr. Before 13:10 the Asr prayer, he performs the qada 13:12 for the Asr prayers that were abandoned 13:15 in the past. Now, may Allah Subhanahu 13:18 wa ta'ala bestow His mercy and 13:20 forgiveness upon us all. Whether 13:23 following the first opinion or the 13:25 second opinion. May Allah accept their 13:27 repentance. Wallahu a'lam (Allah knows 13:28 best). 13:29 >> If the prayer is at the Prophet’s 13:30 Mosque, Ustaz, or the Masjidil Haram, 13:31 is it possible to perform qada prayers 13:33 there, Ustaz? When I travel to Mecca or 13:38 Medina, I perform qada prayers. Perhaps 13:43 my prayers during childhood were not 13:46 very good. Understandably, childhood 13:49 was spent in an environment that 13:51 happened to be less religious. We might 13:55 have been negligent or performed 13:57 prayers without fulfilling the 13:59 requirements. So, before every prayer 14:03 in Mecca and Medina, we perform qada of 14:05 our prayers as an expression of regret 14:08 and repentance to Allah. And prayers in 14:12 Masjidil Haram are multiplied by 14:14 100,000 14:15 >> times over. Likewise, in Medina, 14:17 prayers are multiplied. We hope that 14:19 with Allah's mercy and generosity, our 14:22 intention for qada can replace our 14:25 negligences in the past. Wallahu a'lam. 14:29 >> Alright. For example, from Mrs. Sofia 14:30 in Yogyakarta. Ustaz Husin, is it 14:34 permissible to send Al-Fatihah to 14:36 ourselves while placing our palms on 14:38 our chests for our own well-being? 14:42 >> Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. The 14:46 expression "sending Al-Fatihah" is 14:48 actually a metaphorical expression, Mas 14:50 Krishna. 14:51 >> Yes. 14:51 >> An expression. 14:52 >> Metaphorical. Metaphorical. Meaning we 14:57 recite Al-Fatihah with the hope, given 15:01 Al-Fatihah's position which is so noble 15:05 and so full of majesty. Because 15:09 Al-Fatihah is also called As-Sab'ul 15:11 Matsani. Seven verses that are 15:13 repeatedly recited in every prayer of 15:15 ours. And Al-Fatihah is the essence of 15:18 the Al-Qur'an. So, with the position of 15:22 Al-Fatihah as As-Sab'ul Matsani before 15:24 Allah, we hope that Allah will bestow 15:26 His mercy and forgiveness upon our 15:28 brothers and sisters who have passed 15:31 away. It is not that we are "sending" 15:35 Al-Fatihah literally like that, but 15:37 rather using it as a tawassul by 15:39 reciting Surah Al-Fatihah so that Allah 15:41 bestows His mercy. 15:45 >> for the people we intend, our parents, 15:48 or our relatives, or our friends. 15:52 >> This is a part of*tawassul*through 15:54 deeds. * 15:55 >> Ya ayyuhalladzina amanuttaqullaha 15:57 wabtaghu ilaihil wasilah. *O you who 16:01 have believed, fear Allah and strive to 16:03 draw near to Him by performing the 16:06 means of deeds that Allah is pleased 16:09 with. So, we recite Al-Fatihah while we 16:16 pray to Allah that the people we intend 16:18 receive mercy and forgiveness from 16:20 Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. Now, if it 16:24 is for ourselves, just recite 16:26 Al-Fatihah. 16:26 >> Yes. Then we ask Allah to bring peace 16:30 to our hearts and heal our illnesses. 16:33 >> So, the Al-Fatihah we recite is in 16:35 accordance with our intention. 16:36 >> In accordance with 16:37 >> our intention. 16:38 >> Our intention. We don't need to say "I 16:40 am sending Al-Fatihah" to read 16:41 Al-Fatihah. Then he places his hand on 16:44 his chest or on the place that is 16:46 hurting. Praying for the blessings of 16:49 this noble surah Al-Fatihah, may Allah 16:50 heal his illness, calm his heart, and 16:52 keep him away from the bad things that 16:54 are feared. So the phrase "Al-Fatihah 16:57 to the soul of so-and-so" is actually a 16:59 metaphorical expression. It means we 17:02 recite Al-Fatihah with the hope that 17:04 the glory of this Surah Al-Fatihah will 17:07 truly be a mercy for our brothers and 17:09 sisters who have passed away. Even for 17:14 the living, we recite Al-Fatihah; we 17:16 pray that our brother who is traveling 17:18 may be accompanied by Allah Subhanahu 17:20 wa ta'ala, blessed with His mercy and 17:22 forgiveness, and return home safely. So 17:25 we recite Al-Fatihah while our 17:29 intention is a good intention. That is 17:31 a part of*tawassul*with righteous deeds 17:34 . 17:34 >> Righteous. 17:35 >> Alright, next from a gentleman or lady, 17:38 Ibu Nur Agus Bagio from Bogor. Peace be 17:41 upon you, Ustaz Husein. 17:42 >> And peace be upon you too. 17:44 >> What is the difference between Surah 17:46 Al-Muzzammil (the Wrapped One) and 17:47 Surah Al-Muddaththir (the Cloaked One)? 17:50 What is the difference in their 17:51 messages, Ustaz? 17:52 >> In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious 17:54 , the Most Merciful. If we read those 17:59 two surahs, Al-Muzzammil and 18:02 Al-Muddaththir, we will truly find very 18:10 profound wisdom, especially for the 18:13 preachers. In Surah Al-Muzzammil, Allah 18:17 prepares His Messenger, Muhammad 18:19 sallallahu alaihi wa alihi wasallam, to 18:22 rise in the night. To pray while 18:26 reciting the Qur'an with*tartil*(slow 18:28 and measured recitation). *Ya ayyuhal 18:31 muzzammil, qumil laila illa qolila, 18:34 nisfahu aw inqu minhu qolila, zid' 18:37 alaihi warattilil qur'ana tartila. *O 18:42 you who are wrapped in garments, rise 18:46 in the night. Except for a little. 18:50 Leave a little time for your rest. 18:54 Whether you rise for half of the night 18:58 or a third of the night, or two-thirds 19:01 of the night, and recite the Qur'an 19:03 with*tartil*. Why? Allah commands His 19:08 Messenger to rise in the night while 19:11 reciting the Qur'an with*tartil*. *Inna 19:14 sanulqi 'alaika qawlan tsaqila. * 19:17 Because We will bestow upon you a very 19:21 heavy task and burden. Before the 19:28 command came to the Messenger to preach 19:32 openly. The Messenger initially 19:35 preached in secret, Mas Krishna. H 19:37 >> In secret 19:38 >> secret 19:39 >> secret for about two years. So, after 19:45 preaching in secret through approaches 19:48 to those close to the Messenger, Allah 19:51 commanded the Messenger to preach 19:54 openly. Now, Surah Al-Muzzammil 19:58 prepares the Prophet by waking him at 20:00 night so he has the resilience to face 20:03 the heavy trials of the Prophet's open 20:05 da'wah. Therefore, in Surah 20:09 Al-Muzzammil, it is also said: "Leave 20:11 Me with those who deny you, those who 20:13 live in luxury, enjoying worldly 20:15 pleasures." So leave to Me those who 20:21 deny you, who live in revelry and enjoy 20:25 worldly pleasures. So we see, "Inna 20:30 sanulqi' alaika qawlan thaqila." We 20:33 will give you a very heavy task, 20:35 directly facing a people who will truly 20:38 oppose what? Their existing beliefs. 20:42 This is a very heavy task. Now, to face 20:45 it, Allah equips the Prophet to wake up 20:47 at night. And Allah explains in Surah 20:51 Al-Isra the benefits and advantages of 20:54 waking up at night. "Wa minal-laili fa 20:58 tahajjad bihi nafilatan laka 'asa ay 21:00 yab'athaka rabbuka maqaman mahmuda, wa 21:03 qul rabbi adkhilni mudkhala sidqin wa 21:06 akhrijni mukhraja sidqin waj'al li mil 21:09 ladunka sultanan nasira," and at night, 21:12 wake up from your sleep. You must 21:17 perform prayer as an addition for you, 21:20 beyond what Allah has obligated with 21:22 prayers at night. Allah Subhanahu wa 21:26 Ta'ala will place you in a very 21:27 praiseworthy position. Allah taught him 21:31 a prayer. "Rabbi adkhilni mudkhala 21:33 sidqin," say, "O my Lord, admit me to a 21:35 place of truth." Then pray in your 21:38 prayers. O my Lord, bring me into a 21:41 place of truth and appropriateness. 21:44 Likewise, exit from a place of truth. 21:49 Meaning, exit through a place of truth. 21:52 This means all the Prophet's activities 21:54 truly proceed in truth, entering into 21:56 truth, and exiting in a truthful manner 21:59 . "Wa qul rabbi adkhilni mudkhala 22:04 sidqin wa akhrijni mukhraja sidqin 22:06 waj'al li mil ladunka sultanan nasira." 22:10 And grant me "sultan," a help or a 22:13 helper who will assist and aid me. Now, 22:18 in Surah Al-Muddaththir, Mas Krisna, if 22:20 Surah Al-Muzzammil is the preparation 22:22 for the Prophet before facing great 22:24 challenges. What about Surah 22:26 Al-Muddaththir? It is Allah's command 22:29 for the Prophet to perform open da'wah. 22:32 >> Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. "Ya 22:33 ayyuhal-muddaththir, qum fa-andhir." 22:38 The command from Allah here is: arise 22:41 and give warning. "Wa rabbaka fa-kabbir 22:44 ." As provision for your struggle, let 22:48 your Lord be the only One you magnify 22:50 and glorify. Because everything else is 22:54 small, bowing under the power of Allah. 22:56 "Wa thiyabaka fa-tahhir," and purify 22:59 your clothing. This is not limited to 23:02 just the physical clothes we wear, but 23:05 also reflects behavior and personality 23:08 so that, essentially, what? We maintain 23:11 our cleanliness and purity because this 23:14 will be a point of attention and focus. 23:16 One must not preach, calling to virtue 23:19 and nobility, while being far from that 23:21 nobility themselves. "Wa rabbaka 23:24 fa-kabbir, wa thiyabaka fa-tahhir, 23:27 war-rujza fahjur." And distance 23:30 yourself from all filth, everything 23:32 impure, starting from shirk, 23:33 associating partners with Allah, and 23:35 various kinds of dirty deeds. " 23:38 War-rujza fahjur," and do not give, 23:40 expecting more in return. Do not, when 23:45 you are giving. Consider your gift to 23:49 be great, and do not, when you are 23:51 giving, hope for a reward. What kind of 23:55 reward? Something greater from the 23:57 person you are giving to. But the point 23:59 is, in your giving, you should hope for 24:01 the pleasure of Allah Subhanahu wa 24:03 Ta'ala alone. And do not consider what 24:06 you give to be significant. Wala tamnun 24:10 tastakfir walbbika fasfir. To carry out 24:14 your Lord’s command, be patient. So 24:17 these two surahs are, one, a 24:19 preparation for the Prophet and for 24:21 preachers in facing heavy challenges. 24:23 The second contains a command to rise 24:26 and give warnings. God knows best. 24:28 >> Alright. Next is from Mr. Wandi in Solo 24:31 . Peace be upon you, Ustaz Husein. 24:32 >> And peace be upon you, 24:33 >> Ustaz. Why do some of the younger 24:34 generation feel that religion only 24:36 consists of prohibitions? And not as an 24:39 answer to their life's problems. 24:42 >> In the name of God, the Most Gracious, 24:43 the Most Merciful. God says, "Inna 24:45 hadal Quran yahdi lillati hiya.""Indeed 24:49 , this Qur'an guides to a life that is 24:52 straighter, better, and more noble." 24:56 Islamic teachings are a solution for 24:59 the various kinds of problems that 25:02 humans face. Leading them out of 25:05 darkness into a bright life, showing 25:08 them the paths of safety, and guiding 25:10 them to the straight path. But it is a 25:15 pity, a great pity, that many who 25:17 preach, many of our ustaz and scholars, 25:20 do not understand at all what the 25:23 purpose of Islamic teachings is. 25:26 Because they do not study the Book of 25:28 God, nor do they reflect on the 25:30 guidance and direction of God in His 25:32 holy book. Nor do they learn from the 25:35 life of our Prophet Muhammad, peace be 25:37 upon him. Ultimately, they present 25:40 religion only as threats and 25:41 punishments. 25:42 >> Yes. 25:43 >> Whereas God builds the Islamic 25:45 community not with threats and 25:48 punishments, but by providing guidance 25:51 and directions that lead them toward a 25:54 pure life. Shielding them from vile 25:57 deeds. Keeping them away from wicked 26:01 acts. After God provides guidance, 26:07 direction, and instruction, and God the 26:10 Almighty makes all goodness easy for 26:13 them, if they still persist in wrong 26:16 actions, and even commit destruction 26:18 and oppression against others, only 26:21 then is punishment imposed upon them. 26:27 So, guidance and instruction should not 26:31 start with threats, punishments, or 26:34 various restrictive things. Rather, our 26:39 Prophet is a mercy to all creation, and 26:41 his teachings are a guide, a mercy, and 26:44 a healing for various kinds of ailments 26:47 . So, actually, this misunderstanding 26:50 happens because those who preach Islam 26:52 do so without a foundation of knowledge 26:55 , which leads to this misunderstanding. 26:58 >> Therefore, for the questioner who asked 27:01 this, you can try to submit which 27:04 points are burdensome. 27:06 >> H 27:06 >> Which points 27:07 >> are burdensome? 27:08 >> The burdensome ones. We will provide an 27:10 answer. God willing, we will also 27:14 provide solutions for the anxiety and 27:16 unease experienced by many people who 27:18 see religion as if it were a set of 27:20 rules coming from a terrifying ghost. 27:23 Not a mercy coming from our Lord who is 27:26 Most Gracious and Most Merciful. Glory 27:28 be to You, O God, and with Your praise; 27:30 I bear witness that there is no god but 27:32 You, I seek Your forgiveness and repent 27:33 to You, and I ask for your leave. Peace 27:35 be upon you, and the mercy of God and 27:37 His blessings. 27:37 >> And peace be upon you, and the mercy of 27:39 God and His blessings. Praise be to God 27:40 . Thank you, Ustaz Husein.
