We 0:46 have Brother Atep, the cameraman, and 0:48 Brother Anis Mualim at the control desk 0:50 . And as always, brothers, our teacher 0:53 is with us, Ustaz Husein bin Hamid 0:55 Al-Attas. Peace be upon you, Ustaz. 0:57 And peace be upon you, and the mercy of 0:59 Allah, Brother Isa. Peace be upon you, 1:01 Ustaz. 1:01 May you always be in good health and 1:03 under the mercy of Allah Subhanahu wa 1:04 ta'ala. Amin. Amin, O Lord of the 1:06 Worlds. Brothers and sisters who are 1:08 blessed by Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, 1:10 today we will discuss one of the 1:12 fundamental pillars of our religion. In 1:16 general, we will discuss what Allah 1:18 Subhanahu wa ta'ala has taught us 1:20 regarding the pillars of Islam. We will 1:24 discuss them one by one in various 1:26 episodes. God willing, today we will 1:29 start by discussing and thoroughly 1:31 examining the Shahada (testimony of 1:34 faith). Now, brothers and sisters, God 1:37 willing, we will delve into it and 1:38 reflect upon it. But before that, it 1:40 would be best if we open by reading the 1:43 Mother of the Qur'an, Surah Al-Fatihah. 1:45 Please, Ustaz. 1:50 I seek refuge in Allah from the 1:51 accursed Satan. In the name of Allah, 1:59 the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. 2:05 All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the 2:08 Worlds. The Most Gracious, the Most 2:12 Merciful. Master of the Day of Judgment 2:18 . It is You we worship and You we ask 2:23 for help. Guide us to the straight path 2:29 . The path of those upon whom You have 2:36 bestowed favor. Not of those who have 2:39 evoked [Your] anger or of those who are 2:41 astray. 2:47 Amin. Amin, O Lord of the Worlds. O 2:50 Allah, have mercy on us through the 2:51 Qur'an. May Allah open the doors of His 2:53 guidance to us all through the reading 2:55 of Surah Al-Fatihah earlier. Brothers 2:57 and sisters. Brothers and sisters. 2:59 There is one statement, two sentences 3:02 that Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala has 3:04 taught us. It is like if we want to 3:07 enter an account; there is a login 3:10 username and password to be able to 3:12 enter into the teachings of Allah 3:14 Subhanahu wa ta'ala. To enter into the 3:17 mercy of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. To 3:20 unite and join the ranks of the 3:22 believers, the ranks of Allah Subhanahu 3:25 wa ta'ala. Under the banner of the word 3:29 of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, we must 3:31 first utter the two sentences of the 3:34 Shahada: "I bear witness that there is 3:36 no god but Allah, and I bear witness 3:39 that our master Muhammad is His servant 3:41 and His messenger." And I bear witness 3:44 that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah 3:46 . Brothers and sisters who are blessed 3:48 by Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, how far 3:50 do you understand these two sentences, 3:52 and how far have you grasped their 3:54 meaning? Today we will discuss and 3:56 examine the two sentences of the 3:58 Shahada with Ustaz Husein bin Hamid 4:00 Al-Attas and Ustaz Hamzah Al-Attas. 4:02 Perhaps Ustaz Husein can start the 4:05 discussion regarding the two sentences 4:07 of the Shahada. Let us all, brothers 4:10 and sisters, listen and pay attention 4:12 to his explanation. Please, Ustaz. 4:14 I seek refuge in Allah from the 4:16 accursed Satan. In the name of Allah, 4:20 the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. 4:22 All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the 4:25 Worlds. A praise that is abundant, good 4:29 , and blessed, as our Lord loves and is 4:32 pleased with. O Allah, send blessings 4:36 upon Muhammad and the family of 4:37 Muhammad. Our Lord, increase us in 4:40 knowledge and grant us the ability to 4:42 act upon it. O Allah, truly we...... 4:47 seek refuge in You from going astray or 4:49 being led astray, from slipping or 4:50 being made to slip, from oppressing or 4:51 being oppressed, and from behaving 4:52 ignorantly or having ignorance 4:54 displayed against us. Amma ba'du. 5:01 Brothers and sisters, listeners and 5:03 viewers of Silaturahim Radio and TV, 5:05 may you be blessed by Allah. Ustaz 5:09 Hamzah bin Atas Alattas, Ustaz Isa bin 5:12 Ahmad Taufik Atep, all the crew in the 5:15 studio, brothers and sisters in faith, 5:19 as well as brothers and sisters who 5:22 share the same parents, who are now 5:25 together facing a test to determine our 5:31 fate in the hereafter later on. May 5:34 Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala show us the 5:39 paths of salvation. Make us His 5:42 servants who always surrender to Him, 5:45 obedient in following His guidance by 5:48 emulating our Prophet Muhammad 5:51 sallallahu alaihi wa alihi wasallam. By 5:56 this, Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala leads 5:59 humanity out of darkness toward a truly 6:03 bright life. And Allah guides us 6:06 through the path of as-Sirat 6:08 al-Mustaqim. A path that is wide, 6:12 spacious, and bright, leading to their 6:15 true purpose in life. Amin ya rabbal 6:19 alamin. Brothers and sisters, may you 6:21 be blessed by Allah, we have all, since 6:26 childhood, memorized the pillars of our 6:30 religion. Whether it is the pillars of 6:33 faith, the pillars of Islam, and we are 6:36 also taught about al-Ihsan. Now, what 6:42 we desire in our studies on the Arkanul 6:47 Islam is to understand each pillar as 6:50 well and as truly as possible. Not just 6:55 by rote memorization or repetition, but 6:59 the shahada, the testimony we utter, 7:03 must be truly based on understanding. 7:07 Likewise, the prayer we perform, the 7:12 zakat we pay, and the fasting we 7:15 observe by following Allah's commands. 7:19 Also, our Hajj to the holy land to 7:21 fulfill the invitation of Allah 7:23 Subhanahu wa ta'ala. Where these acts 7:26 of worship, acts of worship that Allah 7:31 Subhanahu wa ta'ala has designated for 7:33 us as a means to purify our souls, to 7:39 straighten our lives, and to shield us 7:42 from vile deeds that would plunge us 7:45 into a life full of disgrace and sin. 7:55 The first pillar of Islam, as we have 7:58 memorized and known, is the two 8:01 sentences of the shahada. Ashadu alla 8:04 ilaha illallah. Wa ashadu anna 8:08 Muhammadan rasulullah. I bear witness 8:12 that there is no God but Allah. And I 8:18 also bear witness that Muhammad is the 8:21 Messenger of Allah, sallallahu alaihi 8:24 wasallam, who was sent by Allah to us, 8:31 mankind, to convey Allah's messages and 8:34 guidance. Why must Allah Subhanahu wa 8:38 ta'ala send His messengers? Because 8:41 Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala does not 8:44 speak to all human beings except for 8:49 those chosen by Allah Subhanahu wa 8:52 ta'ala to hear Allah's words directly, 8:55 like the Prophet Musa, including our 8:59 own Prophet when he journeyed to 9:02 Sidratul Muntaha. Therefore, Allah says 9:08 at the end of Surah Ash-Shura, "It is 9:10 not for any human that Allah should 9:12 speak to him except by revelation or 9:14 from behind a veil or that He sends a 9:16 messenger." By no means will Allah 9:21 speak to someone except through 9:23 revelation. Yes, revelation, whether it 9:27 is brought by Jibril alaihissalam or 9:29 revelation in the form of inspiration 9:31 that Allah places into someone's heart. 9:36 Or Allah speaks directly, but min 9:38 wara'i hijab, from behind a veil. And 9:42 naturally, the veil referred to here is 9:45 not a material veil as we understand it 9:47 , but a veil of Allah's greatness and 9:50 majesty, as well as the limitations of 9:52 our senses to perceive that greatness 9:55 and majesty. Where our eyes—eyes that 9:59 Allah created only to perceive created 10:02 beings, and even then, not all of them 10:04 —cannot reach many things within our 10:07 sight. Isn't that right? For example, 10:09 our soul, our spirit, is also beyond 10:11 the reach of our physical sight. So, 10:16 because of the limitations of our eyes 10:18 and the limitations of our knowledge, 10:21 we are completely unable to see the 10:24 greatness and majesty of Allah as it 10:26 truly is. Allah spoke to His prophets 10:30 from behind a veil, and He spoke to 10:32 Prophet Musa in the same way. So, the 10:36 first is revelation, whether brought by 10:37 Gabriel or in the form of inspiration 10:39 that enters the heart of our Prophet. 10:43 Now, the third, "or He sends a 10:44 messenger," means Allah sends a 10:46 messenger by sending Gabriel, peace be 10:49 upon him. This means the first is 10:51 revelation in the form of inspiration. 10:53 In the form of inspiration. While the 10:57 third revelation is the one delivered 11:00 by Gabriel, peace be upon him. Thus, 11:07 Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala established a 11:09 way to communicate with His servants in 11:12 general by sending His messenger from 11:15 among the angels to deliver Allah's 11:18 message to the messenger from among 11:20 humans. He then also provides examples 11:25 and explanations to all of us that 11:27 clarify the meaning of the revelation 11:30 of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. So, the 11:35 Prophet's role in conveying Allah's 11:37 revelation is to neither add anything 11:38 nor subtract anything. This is in 11:41 accordance with the command of Allah 11:43 Subhanahu wa ta'ala to His messenger. " 11:45 And judge between them by what Allah 11:47 has revealed and do not follow their 11:49 inclinations." Now, bearing witness 11:58 that there is no God but Allah. 12:04 Likewise, that Muhammad is the 12:05 Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, 12:08 naturally requires proof. It requires 12:12 proof so that it is clear to us all. So 12:18 that we do not just blindly follow 12:20 along, but truly act based on 12:22 understanding that leads us to 12:27 conviction. Now, if we read Surah 12:33 Al-Imran, Surah Al-Imran, Allah says, " 12:38 Allah witnesses that there is no deity 12:41 except Him, and [so do] the angels and 12:44 those of knowledge—[that He is] 12:46 maintaining [creation] in justice."" 12:49 There is no deity except Him, the 12:51 Exalted in Might, the Wise." Try to 12:53 reflect on this verse. Witnesses. Allah 12:58 Subhanahu wa ta'ala testifies, meaning 13:00 He presents testimony. Based on the 13:06 evidence of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala's 13:08 testimony which is irrefutable, it 13:12 proves that there is no God but Allah. 13:18 It turns out Allah's testimony is also 13:20 what? Followed by the testimony of the 13:22 angels, and the testimony of those who 13:26 possess knowledge. Meaning they testify 13:29 based on knowledge. "Allah witnesses 13:32 that there is no deity except Him, and 13:33 [so do] the angels and those of 13:35 knowledge—[that He is] maintaining [ 13:36 creation] in justice." That Allah 13:39 Subhanahu wa ta'ala is not only the One 13:41 God, but He also governs the universe 13:44 and all its contents with full justice. 13:48 Allah never commits oppression. Why 13:52 would the Almighty need to commit 13:53 oppression and tyranny? Those who 13:55 commit oppression and tyranny are the 13:57 weak. Isn't that right? Those who feel 14:00 threatened. Whereas Allah is the Most 14:02 Gracious, the Most Merciful, the Most 14:04 Just, and the Most Wise. Lailahailla 14:07 huwal azizul hakim. There is no God but 14:10 Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. He is the 14:13 only one who is almighty and all-wise. 14:18 Now, let us ask Ustaz Isa. What is the 14:22 proof of Allah's testimony? Because 14:23 when a person testifies, they must 14:25 provide proof. Isn't that right? Now, 14:28 what is the proof of Allah's testimony? 14:34 Actually, for those with intellect and 14:36 knowledge, they will find that the 14:38 universe and all its contents, 14:40 including themselves, are proof of the 14:42 truth of Allah's testimony. Isn't that 14:46 right? If someone becomes a witness, if 14:50 they are able to bring several pieces 14:52 of evidence, it shows how their 14:53 testimony carries strong meaning. What 14:56 if the entire universe, including 14:59 oneself, testifies to the oneness of 15:01 Allah? Allah says, "Walau kaana fihima 15:04 alihatun 15:06 illallah la fasadata." If there were 15:09 other gods in the heavens and the earth 15:11 besides Allah, the heavens and the 15:13 earth would surely be in ruin. This is 15:17 axiomatic proof. Why? Because the 15:22 entire universe and its contents work 15:25 in complete harmony. They work together 15:29 , walking in rhythm and unison. This 15:33 shows that He who created them, who 15:36 established their laws, is the One and 15:39 Only God. La syarikalah. If there were 15:43 involvement other than Allah Subhanahu 15:45 wa ta'ala in setting the rules, laws, 15:47 and policies, what would happen? There 15:50 would be competition that leads to what 15:53 ? It would lead to conflict that 15:56 results in the destruction of the 15:58 universe and all its contents. The 16:04 skies, the earth, the stars in the 16:07 heavens. The sun, the moon, the animals 16:10 , the plants, including ourselves. Wafi 16:13 anfusikum ayatun afala tubsirun. Within 16:17 yourselves are proofs and signs, do you 16:20 not see? Therefore, Allah Subhanahu wa 16:24 ta'ala in Surah Al-An'am says in which 16:26 verse? In verse uh 19. Qul ayyu saaiin 16:34 akbaru syahadah. Say to them, O 16:39 Messenger of Allah, ask them whose 16:41 testimony is the greatest and most 16:43 profound? The Messenger is ordered to 16:49 answer, "Qulillahu syahidun baini 16:51 wainakum." So if people think, "Who is 16:54 the witness whose testimony is the most 16:56 profound, the most magnificent, and 16:58 most noble?" Allah says, say that 17:01 indeed Allah is the witness between me 17:03 and you regarding the truth of what I 17:05 convey. Why? Because the testimony of 17:10 Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala is supported 17:11 by all His creatures in the universe, 17:13 all of which point to Allah. Wa uhyya 17:18 ilai hadal Quran liirakum bihi wala. 17:22 And the Quran has been revealed to me 17:24 so that I may give warning to you and 17:26 to those to whom this book and word 17:28 reach. A innakum latashaduna anna 17:33 maallahi alihatan. ...do you testify 17:40 that Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala...that 17:43 there are other gods alongside Allah 17:46 Subhanahu wa ta'ala. If you testify, 17:50 where is the proof? Qullu burhanakum in 17:53 kuntum shodin. So say, "A-innakum 17:55 tashaduna anna maallahi alihatan ukhro. 17:58 " Do you dare to testify that there are 18:02 other gods alongside Allah Subhanahu wa 18:04 ta'ala? Qul la asyhad. Say to them, O 18:08 Messenger of Allah, I do not testify as 18:11 you do. Then qul innama hua ilahun 18:18 wahid. Say, indeed, He is only one God. 18:24 Say, "He is God, the One, and I am free 18:26 from what you associate with Him." And 18:30 I wash my hands, I dissociate myself 18:32 from what you associate with Him. 18:37 Therefore, in the following verse, 18:39 those to whom We gave the Scripture 18:41 recognize it as they recognize their 18:43 own children. Those to whom We gave the 18:47 Scripture truly recognize that 18:48 Scripture, recognize its contents, and 18:50 also recognize the Messenger who 18:52 delivers it, just as they recognize 18:54 their own children. Those who have lost 18:58 their souls, they do not believe. 19:01 People who experience loss in 19:03 themselves, their families, their lives 19:06 —all of them are truly people who do 19:09 not believe. Therefore, Allah threatens 19:13 , "Who is more unjust...""...than 19:17 someone who invents a lie against His 19:18 verses?" Who dares to fabricate a lie? 19:25 Saying that there is a god besides 19:27 Allah, or a god alongside Allah, or 19:29 denying His verses that prove and 19:31 demonstrate His truth and majesty. 19:36 Indeed, the wrongdoers will not succeed 19:38 . Indeed, those who commit wrongdoing 19:42 will never be safe nor achieve success. 19:47 Then on the day when Allah gathers them 19:49 all, Allah says, "And we gather them, 19:51 then we ask those who associated others 19:53 with Him, 'Where are your partners?'" 19:59 When We gather them all, then we ask 20:01 them, "Where are the partners that you 20:04 used to worship alongside Me?" Those 20:08 whom you claimed to be the partners of 20:10 Allah. Then their excuse will be 20:17 nothing except to say, "By Allah, our 20:19 Lord, we were not idolaters." Then 20:22 their answer to this question turns out 20:25 to be a lie. They say, "O our Lord, by 20:30 Allah, we never associated anyone with 20:33 You in the times past." We were not 20:36 idolaters. Then what does Allah say? 20:39 See how they lie against themselves. 20:42 See how they lie against their own 20:45 selves. And there will be lost...And 20:51 all the lies they used to fabricate 20:54 will vanish and disappear. It turns out 20:57 that what they worshipped was not Allah 20:58 . The Lord who created them. Instead, 21:02 they created the gods they worshipped. 21:06 They worshipped gods they created with 21:08 their own imaginations. This is what 21:12 happens. Creatures like themselves or 21:15 lower than them, they worship and say 21:18 that these are the partners we serve. 21:25 So it is very clear, when we testify " 21:27 ashadu alla ilaha illallah," it is not 21:30 just words, but an understanding and a 21:33 feeling in our hearts, proven in this 21:36 life by how we walk on His path and 21:39 move toward Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. 21:42 Therefore, after Allah says, "Allah 21:44 witnesses that there is no deity except 21:46 Him, and the angels, and those of 21:48 knowledge, maintaining justice; there 21:50 is no deity except Him, the Exalted in 21:52 Might, the Wise." The result of this 21:55 testimony and proof is, "Indeed, the 21:57 religion in the sight of Allah is Islam 21:59 ." That the religion recognized and 22:04 accepted by Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala 22:08 is the religion based on Islam. 22:10 Surrendering oneself to Allah. 22:13 Surrendering by testifying that there 22:17 is no god but Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala 22:20 . The translation we often hear, " 22:24 ashadu alla ilaha illallah." I testify 22:27 there is no god worthy or deserving of 22:30 worship except Allah. Because this 22:33 translation is not a translation...... 22:36 not a translation in accordance with 22:38 what? With those two sentences of the 22:40 Shahada. But this translation uses the 22:44 conventional meaning. If indeed there 22:48 is no God in the heavens and on earth 22:50 except for Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, 22:51 then naturally the one we are obligated 22:53 to worship is 22:55 Allah. But actually, these two 22:58 sentences of the Shahada contain a very 23:00 deep meaning. So if we talk about the 23:03 meaning, yes, uh, that corresponds to 23:06 those two sentences, not just looking 23:08 at the common implication. Ashadu alla 23:12 ilahaillallah. We see, I bear witness 23:14 there is no god but Allah. What if it 23:16 were replaced with ashadu alla 23:18 ilahailla rab? Ashadu alla ilahailla 23:23 rahman. Yes. Ashadu what? Ashadu alla 23:26 rahman, yes. Alla rahman, alla rabba 23:30 alla. Yes. 23:32 How would it be? Ashadu alla ilahailla 23:35 ar-rahman. Ashadu alla ilahailla hua 23:39 ar-rabb. Yes. Do you think the Shahada 23:42 is complete? It is lacking. Why is it 23:45 not complete? Because the other names 23:48 of Allah besides the name "Allah" only 23:51 show aspects of Allah's greatness, not 23:54 the whole. It is mentioned "ar-rahman," 23:57 the Most Merciful; what does it mean? 23:59 It shows the aspect of beauty and 24:01 majesty of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala's 24:03 attributes. Likewise with ar-rahim, 24:06 likewise with al-khaliq, likewise with 24:08 al-kha, likewise with al-hakim. So if 24:12 we say "ashadu alla ilaha illa 24:15 ar-rahman" or "ashadu alla ilaha illa 24:18 hua al-hakim," we only bear witness to 24:22 the aspects of Allah's greatness and 24:25 majesty. But if we say*ashadu alla 24:28 ilaha illallah*, "I bear witness that 24:30 there is no ilah (god) other than Allah 24:32 ," then the word "ilah" encompasses all 24:35 attributes of divinity (uluhiyah). 24:38 Starting from al-khaliqiyah (creation), 24:41 al-hakimiyah (sovereignty), then the 24:43 beautiful and perfect attributes: 24:45 ar-rahman, ar-rahim, al-Aziz, al-Hakim, 24:47 al-Alim, yes, all are covered in what? 24:50 In the name of Allah Subhanahu wa 24:52 ta'ala. So Allah chose ismuhul a'zam, 24:56 the greatest name of Allah, because 24:58 this name truly encompasses all 25:00 attributes of divinity. Now, after we 25:04 believe that Allah is the One endowed 25:07 with all attributes of divinity, who 25:09 possesses all divine attributes full of 25:12 beauty and majesty, and there is no one 25:14 other than Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala 25:16 who is with Allah in all of that, then 25:19 naturally the one we must worship is 25:21 Allah. That is the common implication. 25:25 So the translation should not be " 25:26 ashyhadu alla ilahaillallah.""I bear 25:29 witness that there is no god who must 25:30 be worshipped except Allah." That is 25:32 the common implication. The 25:34 consequential meaning of this is that 25:36 the one we worship is Allah. But for 25:39 the literal meaning, yes I bear witness 25:43 there is no ilah except for Allah. He 25:46 is the only one endowed with all 25:48 attributes of divinity la syarikalah ( 25:52 He has no partner). What is the proof? 25:55 The proof is everything in the heavens 25:57 and on earth becomes an irrefutable 26:00 witness. That Allah is the Creator, 26:03 Allah is the One who determines, who 26:05 regulates in all His wisdom in the 26:06 universe. La syarikalah. So Allah 26:11 Subhanahu wa ta'ala, as in Suratul 26:13 Ikhlas, qul huallahu ahad. If people 26:15 ask, "Who is Allah?" Then answer, say 26:19 indeed He whom you ask about, whom you 26:21 want to know, is Allah, the Ahad (the 26:24 One), unique in His essence. Our 26:28 existence is one that is a gift, a 26:30 bestowal from Allah. But as for the 26:32 existence of Allah, it is an absolute 26:34 existence that has no beginning and no 26:36 end. Then, in what else is He Ahad (the 26:38 One)? In His names and attributes with 26:42 all their beauty. Also His names are 26:45 Ahad in His actions (failiah). In His 26:49 actions, all the laws found in this 26:51 universe are established by Allah and 26:53 function only by the permission of 26:55 Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. So, Ahadiyah 27:00 or Oneness is essentially the 27:02 interpretation that explains the true 27:04 essence of existence, where everything 27:07 begins with Allah, depends on Allah, 27:10 and returns to Allah. Therefore, 27:12 al-Ahadiyah, the Oneness, is the 27:14 interpretation of existence. Once we 27:17 understand al-Ahadiyah, which 27:19 encompasses the entire universe and its 27:22 contents, there arises wa imanun 27:24 fil-qalb or fid-damir, faith and 27:27 conviction in the heart. Then, wa 27:30 manhajun lil-hayah (a way of life). And 27:32 from this understanding arises what is 27:35 called a manhaj lil-hayah. Our life 27:38 guidelines are not taken from outside 27:40 Allah or outside the universe. Just as 27:43 all of nature submits to Allah, its sun 27:45 , its moon, and all its stars. Likewise 27:48 , we as servants of Allah Subhanahu wa 27:51 ta'ala must submit to Allah in this 27:54 life. Referring to the laws of Allah in 27:57 all aspects of our lives. Is it perfect 28:00 or not? Ahadiyah, the Oneness, becomes 28:04 the interpretation that explains the 28:05 essence of existence. Faith is born in 28:08 the heart after that because there is 28:10 nothing that can refute or oppose it. 28:12 Thirdly, from there we also take our 28:14 life guidelines. So, innadina 28:16 indallahil Islam (Indeed, the religion 28:17 in the sight of Allah is Islam). The 28:20 religion that aligns with reason, that 28:22 aligns with the proofs of truth 28:23 acknowledged by Allah Ta'ala, is Islam. 28:28 The meaning of Islam, that we surrender 28:30 and submit to Allah, corresponds to 28:31 what? It corresponds to facts and truth 28:35 . Because we originate from Allah. All 28:37 our potential is also a gift from Allah 28:40 . Even its blessings come from Allah. 28:43 Thus, the right path is for us to 28:44 surrender ourselves to Allah Subhanahu 28:46 wa ta'ala. Innadina indallahil Islam 28:50 wama ikhtalafalladina utul kitaba illa 28:51 mim ba'di ma jaahumul ilm (Indeed, the 28:53 religion in the sight of Allah is Islam 28:54 , and those who were given the 28:55 Scripture did not differ except after 28:56 knowledge had come to them). And the 29:00 occurrence of disputes and conflicts 29:02 among the People of the Scripture is 29:03 not because the religion of Allah is 29:05 unclear, but why? What actually causes 29:09 the emergence of these disputes? It is 29:12 caused by denial, arrogance, and 29:15 following personal desires. Even though 29:18 knowledge had already come to them. So, 29:20 divisions and disputes do not occur 29:22 except after knowledge has come. Why 29:25 does knowledge come to explain the 29:27 truth to them, and then they dispute? 29:30 Because they are not prepared to follow 29:32 what comes in accordance with truth and 29:34 knowledge. Because this would harm 29:37 their interests. They reject the Qur'an 29:39 , and they also rejected the Gospel and 29:41 the Torah that descended upon Moses and 29:43 Jesus previously. It is not because the 29:46 truth is unclear; it is very clear to 29:48 them. But many people would be 29:50 disadvantaged by it. Therefore, in 29:52 Indonesia as an example, as well as in 29:54 Arab countries, when they are invited 29:56 to return to the Qur'an, they refuse. 29:59 Why? Allah says, "And when they are 30:01 called to Allah and His Messenger to 30:02 judge between them, then a party of 30:04 them turns aside"(wa idza du'u ilallahi 30:05 wa rasulihi liyahkuma bainahum idza 30:06 fariqun minhum mu'ridun). They are 30:09 invited to return to Allah their Lord 30:11 and to His messenger, to return to the 30:13 Book of Allah, yet suddenly they turn 30:15 away and act arrogantly. What does 30:18 Allah say before that? What? Waquuna 30:25 amanna billahi wabirasuli wa tumma 30:28 yatawalla fariqu minhum min ba'diika w 30:31 ulaika bil mukminin. They claim to 30:35 believe in Allah and His messenger. 30:37 They are also ready to be obedient and 30:38 submissive. But when they are invited 30:43 and called back to Allah, they refuse. 30:47 Allah asserts they are not, or are by 30:49 no means, those who believe. So, 30:54 brothers and sisters who are blessed by 30:56 Allah, if we talk about Islam as a way 30:58 of life, its core spirit is actually us 31:00 surrendering ourselves to Allah. Why do 31:03 we surrender and submit to Allah? 31:05 Because He is our creator, the creator 31:07 of the heavens, the earth, and 31:09 everything within them. And He is also 31:11 the one who bestows all the blessings 31:13 we possess. We owe our entire lives to 31:16 Allah Subhanahu wa taala. What is the 31:19 proof that the heavens and earth were 31:21 entirely created by Allah without any 31:23 partners? The proof is clear; if there 31:26 were indeed gods other than Allah in 31:28 this universe, there would surely be 31:30 destruction and collapse. Walau kana 31:34 fihima alihatun illallah lafasadat 31:39 samawatu wal ardu waman fihin or la 31:43 fasadata. If the Quran has already 31:50 explained it so clearly, but we still 31:53 argue and oppose it, then the loss 31:55 returns to us ourselves. May Allah 31:59 Subhanahu wa taala illuminate our 32:01 hearts, soften them to accept the truth 32:03 , and keep us from being arrogant or 32:06 twisting religion to suit our own 32:08 desires. Wali iyadubillah. Ustaz Hamzah 32:10 will, God willing, add to this. 32:12 Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. 32:13 Alhamdulillahiabbil alamin. Allahumma 32:16 sholli wasallim ala sayyidina 32:18 Muhammadin wa ala ali sayyidina 32:20 Muhammad. Rabbana anfusana waillam 32:24 tagfirlana watarhamna lanakunanna min 32:27 khasirin. Rabbana zidna ilma wa alhiqna 32:31 bisihin. Rabbana la tuz qulubana ba'da 32:35 haditana wahablana rahmah. Innaka antal 32:39 wahab. Rabbisrohli sodri waassirli amri 32:43 wahlul uqdatan min lisani yafqahu qauli 32:46 . Amma ba'd. Alhamdulillah wasyukrillah 32:50 . We have just heard the explanation 32:53 regarding the Shahada or our testimony 32:59 to the greatness of Allah Subhanahu wa 33:02 taala. That lailahaillallah, there is 33:06 no God except Allah Subhanahu wa taala. 33:10 This topic is a continuation of 33:12 previous topics that we have discussed 33:17 regarding faith. We know that faith is 33:21 something that resides in the heart 33:27 that we believe in. Uh, sometimes faith 33:33 , well, people cannot see it. But to 33:37 prove it, there needs to be a 33:40 realization in terms of actions, in 33:46 attitudes, and in statements. Therefore 33:50 , to see if someone is already a 33:53 believer or not in the time of the 33:57 Prophet, they were judged by whether 34:00 they had made the Shahada. This is the 34:05 Shahada. This is an outward order. An 34:11 outward order where, when we see 34:14 someone reciting the two sentences of 34:16 Shahada: ashadu alla ilahaillallah wa 34:19 asyhadu anna muhammadar rasulullah, 34:22 then outwardly they are a Muslim. 34:27 Meaning, we treat them as our Muslim 34:29 brother or sister. They are, uh, what? 34:35 Entitled to all the provisions that 34:40 apply to a Muslim. Yes, they have the 34:45 right to marry among Muslims and also 34:48 the right, for example, to inherit from 34:50 one another, and so on. Yes, this 34:54 sentence is not a trivial sentence, you 34:57 know. This is a sentence that, that we 35:03 could call a powerful sentence, a 35:06 sentence so profound that it once 35:09 happened, um, during a battle, Usamah 35:12 bin Zaid, when he was fighting, um, 35:15 against a polytheist enemy, and when 35:19 the enemy was cornered, their sword 35:22 fell, and then they uttered the two 35:25 testimonies of faith: "I bear witness 35:30 that there is no god but Allah and I 35:32 bear witness that Muhammad is the 35:35 Messenger of Allah." Well, but that 35:39 person, Usamah, he felt that the person 35:41 had tried to kill him earlier when they 35:43 were not cornered. 35:45 Now that they were desperate, they said 35:48 'la ilaha illallah,' but he ended up 35:51 killing the person anyway; this news 35:54 then reached the Prophet Muhammad, may 35:57 the peace and blessings of Allah be 36:00 upon him, and Usamah bin Zaid was 36:03 summoned. Ataqtulu rajulan qala 36:07 lailahaillallah. Is it true that you 36:11 killed someone who had already said 'la 36:13 ilaha illallah'? This was in war. This 36:16 was in war, because indeed in battle, 36:19 yes. Um, in the path of Allah, Allah 36:21 grants us permission to kill, and we 36:24 are even commanded to, because if we 36:26 don't, we will be the ones killed; 36:28 that's how it is in this war. But in 36:33 war, even at the peak of intensity, 36:36 when someone says 'la ilaha illallah 36:40 Muhammadur rasulullah,' it is like a 36:43 shield or a wall that immediately 36:47 protects them. So their blood and their 36:51 honor become sacred and forbidden to be 36:52 spilled. That is why when Usamah was 36:56 called, [he was asked] 'ataqtulu 36:58 rajulan qala lailahaillallah.' Is it 37:00 true that you killed a person who said 37:04 'la ilaha illallah'? Usamah bin Zaid 37:07 then gave an excuse, 'innama qala 37:11 dhalika khaufan min saifi ya Rasulullah 37:15 .' He said that because he was afraid. 37:18 Of my sword. Previously, we were in the 37:21 middle of a battle, after all. When he 37:23 was cornered, he said it because he was 37:26 afraid of my sword. The Prophet did not 37:29 accept this excuse. See how powerful 37:31 this sentence is. The Prophet kept 37:34 repeating, 'ataqtulu rajulan qala 37:36 lailahaillallah.' Did you, did you kill 37:39 a person who had already said 'la ilaha 37:42 illallah Muhammadur rasulullah'? Kaifa 37:47 anta bila? Yes, yes. How will you 37:52 answer for that 'la ilaha illallah' 37:54 sentence on the Day of Judgment? In 37:58 another narration, when Usamah gave the 38:00 excuse, "He truly said that because he 38:02 was afraid of my sword." Yes, maybe in 38:05 his heart, he didn't mean it. No, the 38:08 Prophet said, "Halla shaqqta qalbahu 38:12 hatta ta'lama annahu sadiqan am kadhib. 38:15 " Yes, did you split his chest open? 38:19 Meaning, did you look into his heart to 38:21 see if he was being truthful or not? So 38:25 from this, we see how the testimony of 38:28 faith is a sentence that changes 38:30 someone in the outward appearance. Yes, 38:34 we don't know, maybe in their heart 38:36 they might be lying or something, that 38:38 is possible. Like the hypocrites who 38:41 were condemned by Allah Subhanahu wa 38:43 ta'ala in Surah Al-Munafiqun. Ja'akal 38:47 munafiquna qalu nash-hadu innaka 38:50 rasulullah. When the hypocrites come to 38:54 you, they say they bear witness that 38:56 you are the Messenger of Allah. Wallahu 39:01 y'lam innaka rasul. Allah knows that 39:03 you are indeed His messenger. Wallahu 39:06 yashhadu innal munafiqina lakadibun. 39:10 But Allah bears witness that the 39:12 hypocrites are liars. They lie in their 39:16 testimony. Their testimony. Look. Now, 39:22 from this, and also from the verse just 39:26 recited by Ustaz Husein, how 39:28 magnificent these two sentences of the 39:32 shahada are in an outward, apparent 39:36 order. And Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala, 39:42 earlier in verse 18 of Surah Ali 'Imran 39:45 , mentions that after Allah bears 39:48 witness, "Shahidallahu annahu la ilaha 39:51 illa huwa," Allah bears witness that 39:54 there is no god but Him, who upholds 39:58 justice and is always fair. When Allah 40:02 bears witness to such things, who joins 40:06 Allah in that witness? Yes, "wal 40:10 malaikatu wa ulul' ilm," meaning the 40:13 angels and those who possess knowledge 40:15 also bear witness. Now, therefore, what 40:20 is the meaning of bearing witness? Yes, 40:23 we must understand it. We should not 40:28 interpret "bearing witness" merely as " 40:30 watching," like saying, "Oh, I watched 40:32 the football match last night." That 40:36 means we saw it; I witnessed a 40:38 collision, meaning I saw it, but 40:41 witnessing here does not only mean 40:44 witnessing with the eyes. The meaning 40:49 of "ashhadu" here, "ashhadu alla ilaha 40:52 illallah." I bear witness that there is 40:55 no god but Allah. This does not mean 40:58 only witnessing with the eyes. But this 41:03 is a testimony with knowledge as well. 41:07 This means it is a testimony based on 41:09 knowledge. Because we cannot say that 41:13 everything our eyes cannot see does not 41:15 exist; we cannot do that. For example, 41:19 take the wind; there is wind. Oh, we 41:22 feel the wind. Oh, there is wind, 41:23 indeed. Oh, the wind is very strong. 41:26 Even though we cannot see the wind, we 41:29 can bear witness and state that there 41:32 is wind. Why do we say there is wind? 41:36 Because there are signs of it. We feel 41:38 cool or we see the trees moving. Wow, 41:41 the wind is blowing very hard here. 41:43 Even though we don't see the wind. This 41:47 shows how the meaning of bearing 41:50 witness here is not just seeing with 41:53 the eyes, but what is greater and more 41:56 important than that is how we bear 41:59 witness with knowledge. Because Allah 42:03 Subhanahu wa ta'ala cannot be seen by 42:05 the eyes. La tudrikul absar wa huwa 42:07 yudrikul absar. We believe in the 42:10 existence of Allah based on knowledge. 42:14 Based on knowledge through the signs of 42:17 Allah's greatness, the signs of Allah 42:20 Subhanahu wa ta'ala's creation, which 42:23 indicate the existence of Allah 42:26 Subhanahu wa ta'ala. Now, this is 42:30 something I have also explained before 42:32 when we were discussing, uh, at the 42:37 beginning of the month of Ramadan, the 42:40 meaning of "faman syahida minkumus 42:43 syahro,""whoever among you witnesses 42:47 the month." The word*asyahra*here has a 42:50 *mahzub*(omitted word) there, which is* 42:52 faman syahida minkum hilalas syahri*, 42:55 yes. Now, this is the meaning of*syahid 42:57 *. No, this is the same as the meaning 42:59 of*syahadat*(testimony) earlier. It 43:01 does not always mean one must see with 43:02 their own eyes. Because the meaning of* 43:06 syahadat*can also be through knowledge. 43:08 Especially regarding the truth of Allah 43:10 Subhanahu wa ta'ala, it must be with 43:12 knowledge. Therefore, especially for us 43:16 here in Indonesia, where the majority 43:18 are Muslim, many of us were born to 43:21 Muslim fathers and mothers. Yes. We are 43:30 already accustomed to saying*asyhadu 43:33 alla ilaha illallah wa asyhadu anna 43:35 muhammadar rasulullah*, right? Now, we 43:38 are already born into a Muslim state. 43:43 How is our*syahadat*? Well, orally, we 43:46 often say it, especially children from 43:49 a very young age. But this should not 43:53 only be uttered with the tongue. 43:57 Otherwise, when they reach adulthood, 43:59 they might not understand the meaning 44:02 of*syahadat*and end up easily shaken. 44:05 Therefore, as mentioned before, the 44:07 testimony must be grounded in knowledge 44:10 . It means we must know Allah Subhanahu 44:15 wa ta'ala. Who is Allah? We know Him 44:20 through His attributes or His names 44:22 that Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala has 44:24 revealed. Therefore, it is important 44:28 for those of us born as Muslims to 44:31 Muslim parents to recognize this as a 44:34 blessing from Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala 44:37 . We must also educate our children on 44:43 how their testimony should be based on 44:47 knowledge. Because when a person is 44:51 born, they are indeed in a state of* 44:54 fitrah*(innate nature), whoever they 44:58 may be, but it is the education and 45:01 environment that color their life. 45:05 Therefore, for those born as Muslims to 45:09 Muslim parents, it should be colored 45:13 with knowledge about*makrifatullah*( 45:17 knowing Allah) through His names. So 45:22 that their testimony is truly based on 45:26 knowledge. Wallahu subhanahu wa ta'ala 45:28 a'lam. 45:29 May Allah reward you with goodness. 45:30 Ustaz Zin, is there anything you would 45:32 like to add? 45:35 As we have explained before, the 45:37 teachings of Islam are*fitri*(natural), 45:40 in line with human nature and aligned 45:43 with the nature of the entire universe. 45:49 Therefore, just as Allah set up a scale 45:51 to maintain the balance of the heavens 45:53 and the earth, *wa samaa-a rafa'ahaa wa 45:55 mizan*. Allah also reminds us of the 45:58 same scale through the holy book He 46:00 provided for you to follow. Do not 46:03 violate it, do not abandon the balance 46:06 of life that will maintain the 46:08 stability of your life. Besides being* 46:12 fitri*teachings, in harmony with our 46:14 nature and the nature of the universe, 46:17 it is also a teaching consistent with 46:19 truth and knowledge. That is why Allah 46:23 mentions, Allah bears witness, as do 46:25 the angels and those who have knowledge 46:27 . Every person who is rational and 46:31 knowledgeable will find the truth. 46:35 Therefore, instincts that were 46:37 previously before reaching the peak of 46:42 knowledge might still hold pride and 46:46 arrogance. But in the end, they realize 46:48 their knowledge is very small and 46:50 insignificant. The theory of relativity 46:54 was born to show how he truly was as a 46:57 servant. Yes, when he delved into 47:01 divine wisdom, he discovered that his 47:04 knowledge was relative. Relative in 47:08 nature. Unlike the truth that comes 47:10 from Allah. This truth is not only 47:12 consistent with reason, but it precedes 47:15 reason. Precedes 47:17 reason. Because who does it come from? 47:20 From Allah who gave us reason. From 47:22 Allah who created us. From Allah who 47:24 created the heavens and the earth. 47:27 Therefore, the teaching that truly 47:29 guarantees our life's salvation is 47:32 Islam. It is not rejected by our inner 47:37 nature, nor by the universe, guiding 47:39 humans toward knowledge that ultimately 47:41 leads them to Allah. Inna fi khalqis 47:45 samawati wal ardhi wakhtilafil laili 47:48 wannahar laayatin li-ulil albab. Who 47:51 are the Ulul Albab? Let us see the 48:01 difference between the Ulul Albab and 48:03 those who are merely knowledgeable. The 48:06 characteristic of the Ulul Albab is 48:08 that besides being knowledgeable, they 48:10 always remember their Lord. They 48:12 remember their Lord. Everything they 48:16 study, everything they know, is all 48:18 linked back to Allah. From where they 48:20 and the entire universe originated. 48:23 They are the ones who always remember 48:25 Allah, whether standing, sitting, or 48:27 lying down. And they contemplate the 48:30 creation of Allah, the Glorified and 48:33 Exalted, who created the heavens and 48:36 the earth. They study it. Why? Because 48:39 as they contemplate, it all leads them 48:42 to Allah, to the essence of the One. 48:50 Rabbana ma khalaqta hadza bathila. O 48:53 our Lord, You did not create all of 48:55 this in vain. Everything is created 48:57 with a purpose. Subhanaka, glory be to 49:01 You. La syarika, there is no partner 49:02 for You. Faqina 'adzaban-nar. Protect 49:05 us from the torment of the Hellfire. So 49:07 , to prove the truth of Allah, the 49:09 Oneness of Allah, [look at] the 49:11 universe and all its contents. 49:13 Therefore, there cannot be a dichotomy 49:15 between religion and science. Because 49:18 both originate from 49:20 So, what else, ladies and gentlemen, 49:22 makes us doubt the truth that comes 49:24 from Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala? 49:27 Subhanakallahumma wa bihamdika. May 49:33 Allah reward you, Ustaz Husein and 49:35 Ustaz Hamzah, for the explanation of 49:37 one of the two sentences of the Shahada 49:39 , namely' ashadu alla ilaha illallah '. 49:42 In the next meeting, God willing, we 49:44 will discuss' wa asyhadu anna 49:45 muhammadar rasulullah ', God willing, 49:47 we will discuss it, brothers and 49:48 sisters. Hopefully, it can be 49:49 beneficial for all you brothers and 49:50 sisters. Hopefully, it can deepen our 49:53 understanding and our interpretation of 49:56 the Shahada. Brothers and sisters who 49:58 are blessed by Allah Subhanahu wa 50:00 Ta'ala. I, the humble Isa Alkahf, along 50:03 with the crew on duty, Atep, Anis 50:04 Mualim, and others. Would like to take 50:07 our leave. Wassalamualaikum 50:08 warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
