Mentioning the story 6:16 of the creature most beloved by Allah, 6:19 which is the journey of our Prophet 6:21 Muhammad, peace be upon him. Gentlemen, 6:27 ladies, attendees honored by Allah the 6:30 Almighty. In our previous meeting, we 6:37 had conveyed that every day in our 6:43 footsteps, we must realize one verse in 6:49 Surah Al-Hujurat where Allah the 6:51 Almighty says, "And know that the 6:54 Messenger of Allah is among you." Know 7:01 and realize that in your midst is the 7:05 Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. We 7:13 must realize that Allah has bestowed 7:15 upon us a blessing, and there is no 7:17 greater blessing than the blessing of 7:24 being part of the followers of Prophet 7:26 Muhammad, peace be upon him. Honored 7:32 attendees, this morning I would like to 7:55 try to review one of the expressions by 8:01 Sayidina Ali, may Allah honor his face, 8:08 when Sayidina Ali was asked to describe 8:19 the nobility and beauty of the Prophet, 8:22 peace be upon him, he answered with a 8:27 brief sentence. Sayidina Ali said, our 8:34 Prophet, ladies and gentlemen, man 8:38 roahu badihatan habah waman khalathu 8:45 makrifatan ahabbah. Sayidina Ali said, 8:51 the Prophet is man roahu badihatan 8:53 habah. Whoever sees him for the first 8:59 time will be instantly awestruck, 9:06 instantly fascinated, and will 9:09 immediately perceive the charisma 9:12 radiating from our Prophet, making that 9:15 person feel deeply humbled. Waman 9:21 khalathu makrifatan ahabbah. And 9:28 whoever interacts with the Prophet, 9:30 peace be upon him, for a prolonged 9:32 period, he will surely be unable to 9:39 resist. He will definitely love the 9:44 Prophet, peace be upon him. So, 9:47 Sayidina Ali said, someone who first 9:48 sees the Prophet will surely be stunned 9:50 by his majesty. After interacting for a 9:54 long time, this person will surely fall 9:57 in love with the Prophet, peace be upon 10:00 him. Now, the question is, how did our 10:08 Prophet, peace be upon him, interact 10:11 with his fellow human beings so that he 10:18 became a magnet who was liked and loved 10:21 by those around him? Today, ladies and 10:26 gentlemen, people in the West are 10:31 writing books, you know. They are 10:35 conducting research, formulating 10:38 theories on the art of how we can be 10:41 well-liked people. Many of their books 10:45 are scattered in bookstores. There is a 10:49 book written by Dale Carnegie titled " 10:51 How to Win Friends." How do we gain 10:55 many friends, and how can people be 10:57 fond of us? Yes, many theories have 11:00 been turned into books. But I would 11:03 like, in this brief opportunity of 11:05 approximately 30 minutes, to share one 11:11 interesting work written by our scholar 11:15 named Sheikh Muhammad Al-Munajjid. He 11:22 wrote a book titled*Kaifa Amalahumun 11:24 Nabi*. How the Prophet interacted with 11:30 everyone. This book is thick, sir, 800 11:35 pages. But what makes this book rare, 11:40 in my opinion, is that the author 11:42 attempts to compile the hadith 11:44 narrations of the Prophet regarding his 11:47 interactions with others. Then it 11:53 gathers how the Prophet interacted with 11:56 his wives, how the Prophet interacted 11:59 with his neighbors, and how the Prophet 12:02 interacted with his servants and 12:04 helpers at home. How did the Prophet 12:10 interact even with those prone to sin? 12:15 How the Prophet interacted with people 12:17 with disabilities; the book is complete 12:19 . Now, it's just that before we get 12:24 into that, there are three three basic 12:31 theories, sir. Three basic tricks that 12:36 we can observe if we read the*Sirah 12:40 Nabawiyah*(Prophetic biography). We 12:44 will see that the Prophet, peace be 12:47 upon him, possessed an extraordinary 12:49 art of interaction. And in general, the 12:53 principles of interaction can be 12:55 formulated into three things. Attendees 13:00 , may you be honored by Allah. The 13:02 first thing said by the Prophet is 13:06 yuamilunas ala hasabi thabatihim. This 13:15 is the first principle, and it is 13:17 important for us today. The Prophet, 13:21 peace be upon him, ladies and gentlemen 13:23 , when interacting with humans, when 13:24 interacting with others, would always 13:30 consider the character of the person he 13:35 was speaking to. Now, this is what is 13:37 precious for us today. How do we 13:41 consider the character of others when 13:44 we speak and interact? In a hadith, the 13:49 Prophet, peace be upon him, said, " 13:51 An-nasu ma'adin." Humans are like mines 13:56 or minerals hidden deep within the 13:59 earth. Some have hearts like pearls, 14:03 naturally gentle from the start. But 14:08 others are like coal, which only become 14:11 useful when forged first. Yes, so 14:16 people's temperaments differ, and the 14:18 Prophet acknowledged that. That is why, 14:22 ladies and gentlemen who are honored by 14:25 Allah, if we read the prophetic 14:27 biography, our Prophet, peace be upon 14:30 him, had a way of interacting that 14:32 adapted to whoever he was dealing with. 14:37 Therefore, the hadiths about how the 14:41 Prophet interacted with women, with his 14:44 wives, or with women in general, are 14:48 very different from the hadiths where 14:51 our Prophet, peace be upon him, 14:54 interacted with men. Why? Because the 15:00 temperament of women, sir, is like 15:02 glass; it breaks easily. Yes, let us 15:08 take an example, for instance, in one 15:12 hadith, our Prophet had servants 15:15 throughout his life. Among the 15:21 Prophet's servants whose names we are 15:23 most familiar with is Sayyidina Anas 15:25 bin Malik. He is the most popular one, 15:29 sir. But there was a servant of the 15:32 Prophet whose service was not inside 15:37 the house, but specifically to 15:40 accompany the Prophet on his travels. 15:45 His name was Anjasyah. What was 15:49 Anjasyah's task, sir? Anjasyah was an 15:51 expert in poetry. When he was traveling 15:56 , he could recite poems that could 15:59 boost the camels' spirits so they would 16:01 move quickly. So that was Anjasyah's 16:06 ability. It is said that one time the 16:11 Prophet, peace be upon him, went on a 16:13 journey with his wives. Back then, the 16:18 main vehicle was the camel. Yes, the 16:23 camels ridden by the Prophet's wives 16:25 were covered with a howdah. A howdah is 16:29 like a room, sir. But it is on the 16:31 camel's hump. That is where the women 16:35 rode, including the wives of the 16:37 Prophet, peace be upon him. So, there 16:41 was a special group carrying the women 16:44 inside those camels, inside the room on 16:47 their humps. What happened? Anjasyah 16:52 recited his poetry until it made the 16:57 camels walk very fast. Yes, walking 17:02 very fast, including the camel of the 17:05 Prophet's wife. So we can imagine women 17:10 riding camels and then having the 17:12 camels made to go very fast. So we can 17:17 imagine, sir, riding a camel that is 17:19 moving fast is certainly bumpy. The 17:23 Prophet saw those who were inside, the 17:26 women. Do not equate the way you 17:29 associate with men with the way you 17:30 associate with women. So the Prophet, 17:33 peace be upon him, said to Anjasyah, " 17:37 Ya Anjasyah, rifqon bil-qawarir." This 17:42 hadith is extraordinary, sir. Yes. "Ya 17:45 Anjasyah, O Anjasyah, rifqon. Be gentle 17:51 , bil-qawarir." Towards the glass 17:55 vessels (qawarir). The Prophet referred 17:57 to these women using a rhetorical 17:59 device, sir. In Arabic literature, the 18:02 Prophet described women with the term " 18:04 qawarir." What does "qawarir" mean? " 18:08 Qawarir" is the plural of "qorurah."" 18:11 Qorurah" means a bottle made of glass 18:14 like this one, sir. This is called " 18:17 qorurah" in Arabic. And the plural form 18:21 is "qawarir." The Prophet (peace be 18:27 upon him) likened women to glass. When 18:31 we go to the airport, and carry luggage 18:37 , if our luggage contains fragile items 18:39 , usually the airport staff will put a 18:41 sticker on it. What does it say? It 18:45 says, "Fragile," sir. Yes, fragile. 18:48 What is the purpose of placing such a 18:50 sticker? So that the staff handles it 18:54 gently and doesn't just slam it down? 18:57 Exactly. If there is a "fragile" 18:59 sticker, the staff handles it with care 19:02 . In this hadith, the Prophet refers to 19:06 women as "qawarir," or glass bottles. " 19:11 Rifqon bilqawarir." Be gentle with 19:17 women, whose nature is like glass. What 19:22 does this mean? The Prophet teaches us 19:25 that with women, it is better to just 19:28 yield. There is no need to argue for 19:30 long, sir. In the campus lounge, 19:33 debating friends in a discussion, I can 19:36 bring out all my arguments, logic, and 19:39 proof, sir. When we are in a discussion 19:42 . But the moment I get home and argue 19:46 with my wife, I never win, Hajj. Yes, 19:50 that is why with a wife, the tendency 19:51 should be to always yield. "Rifqon 19:54 bilqawarir." If you are too harsh, she 19:56 will break. That is why it must be done 20:00 with gentleness. That was the Prophet's 20:02 message to Anjasyah. One more account, 20:06 ladies and gentlemen, may Allah honor 20:08 you, so we know how the Prophet treated 20:10 women. Today, we need to bring up 20:15 hadiths like this because data from the 20:20 National Commission on Women shows that 20:24 cases of domestic violence are 20:28 increasing. In fact, the latest data 20:33 shows up to 500,000 divorces per year, 20:36 and one of the causes is domestic 20:39 violence. Let us take one narrative, 20:42 sir. How the Prophet treated his wife 20:46 inside the home. In a hadith narrated 20:50 in Sahih Al-Bukhari, it is said that 20:52 one time, the Prophet (peace be upon 20:55 him) was at the home of Mother Aisha, 20:57 the Mother of the Believers. So, the 21:01 Prophet was in his wife's home. 21:03 Suddenly, our Prophet (peace be upon 21:06 him) had guests, his companions. We can 21:09 imagine the Prophet was at Lady Aisha's 21:11 house. Then, coincidentally, there were 21:14 many guests, the Prophet's companions, 21:16 in the living room. What happened? 21:19 Suddenly—let’s just imagine this 21:21 ourselves, sir. Suddenly, someone from 21:26 outside brought a tray containing food 21:29 to be served to the guests. Who was the 21:34 person bringing the food? It turned out 21:37 to be a servant from the house of 21:41 another wife of the Prophet, not Aisha. 21:46 In the narrative, it is said to be Ummu 21:48 Salamah. So, Ummu Salamah's servant 21:51 brought food to be served to the 21:54 Prophet's guests while the Prophet was 21:57 at Aisha's house. If we imagine this as 22:02 a soap opera, sir, how would Lady Aisha 22:05 feel? The Prophet was at his house, but 22:10 the one who provided the food was 22:13 actually his other wife, Ummu Salamah. 22:17 What happened? It is said that Aisha 22:20 saw the servant coming carrying food 22:22 from the house of another of the 22:24 Prophet's wives. What trait does Aisha 22:29 have, sir? She has a jealous nature, 22:31 yes. And that is naturally human. The 22:36 food was slapped with her hand, causing 22:39 the contents to fall and scatter in 22:42 Aisha's house. We can imagine such a 22:47 moment. If you were a husband with 22:50 guests over and your wife annoyed you. 22:54 Your wife annoyed you. What would our 22:58 reaction likely be? Well, at the very 23:01 least, snap at her once. We'll continue 23:04 later, after the guests have left. At 23:05 least that, right? Try to pay attention 23:09 to this hadith. This is the beauty of 23:11 our Prophet's character, peace be upon 23:13 him. The food was scattered, the food 23:17 container had fallen. It is said the 23:22 Prophet, peace be upon him, picked up 23:24 the scattered food. Yes, the scattered 23:28 food was picked up. Then our Prophet, 23:31 peace be upon him, took a new container 23:33 . The food was placed back one by one 23:37 into the new container. Yes, placed 23:40 back in. Then the Prophet took another 23:44 container to return to the servant. 23:46 Please take this back there. We must 23:49 not return a broken container, right? 23:53 While picking up the food one by one. 23:58 What did the Prophet, peace be upon him 23:59 , do? The Prophet spoke to his 24:01 companions. Garat ummukum. Garat 24:06 ummukum. Garat ummukum. In our language 24:10 , the Prophet said this. Please forgive 24:13 her. Aisha is feeling jealous. Please 24:18 forgive your mother, Ummul Mukminin 24:23 Aisha, she is feeling jealous. Imagine, 24:29 the one scolded was not Aisha, but 24:31 instead, the Prophet apologized to his 24:34 companions so they could understand 24:37 that women have a human trait, that of 24:40 being jealous. Yes, that is why some 24:44 husbands and wives, sir, ask for their 24:48 spouse's phone privacy to be opened 24:51 because women are jealous. There is a 24:54 story from Surabaya, a husband and wife 24:57 , the wife would constantly check her 24:59 husband's phone, to the point where the 25:02 husband came home from work at night, 25:04 went to sleep, and charged his phone. 25:08 Yes, the phone was charging. Then in 25:11 the middle of the night, the wife woke 25:13 up and looked at the phone, sir. When 25:15 she looked at the phone, she was 25:17 shocked and woke her husband up. Dear, 25:19 who have you been chatting with all 25:22 this time? The husband woke up. What's 25:25 wrong, honey? Who are you chatting with 25:27 here? Why, what's this? You told her, " 25:31 Beaful, beautiful." Said the wife. The 25:36 husband said, "Look at the phone again. 25:37 " Honey, that's why at your age you 25:39 should wear glasses, that doesn't say 25:40 beautiful. What then, dear? It says the 25:43 battery is full. It says battery full, 25:45 sir. It was read as beautiful, yes. So 25:49 women have the trait of garat, being 25:51 jealous. Now, that is the first thing. 25:54 So when we interact with someone, our 25:56 Prophet paid attention to what earlier? 25:59 The character of the person he was 26:01 talking to. Ladies and gentlemen who 26:03 are honored by Allah Subhanahu wa 26:04 ta'ala. Then the second point, yes. 26:08 When the Prophet sallallahu alaihi 26:10 wasallam spoke, he would "yuamilunas 26:15 biqodri uquulihim." The Prophet 26:20 interacted with people by considering 26:22 their level of reasoning or educational 26:25 background. So, if we observe the 26:30 hadiths where the Prophet spoke to the 26:33 Bedouins, the desert tribes, they are 26:37 different from the hadiths where he 26:40 spoke to the great companions. Why? 26:45 Because there is a principle in 26:47 interacting. Speak to someone while 26:49 considering their level of 26:52 understanding. Do not let us be a 26:55 kindergarten teacher, using language 27:01 like we are teaching university 27:02 students; it just won't connect. Or 27:06 conversely, as a professor, treating 27:09 people as if we were dealing with small 27:13 children. Now, let's take one or two 27:17 accounts so we can have a clear picture 27:21 , sir. How the Prophet sallallahu 27:24 alaihi wasallam in many accounts 27:30 interacted with all types of people. In 27:37 a hadith narrated in Sahih Muslim, 27:39 there was a female companion named Ummu 27:43 Khalid. What was her name? Ummu Khalid, 27:47 sir. Who was this Ummu Khalid? Ummu 27:50 Khalid was a female companion who met 27:53 the Prophet when she was only 4 years 27:56 old. 4 years old, what grade would that 28:01 be nowadays? Kindergarten, Pak, 28:04 yes. Kindergarten. Ummu Khalid was this 28:07 4-year-old female companion. But take 28:10 note, sir. She would later recount this 28:13 story when she was very old. Why? 28:17 Because this moment was a moment in her 28:20 life that she never forgot. What was it 28:23 ? Once, ladies and gentlemen whom Allah 28:28 honors, our Prophet, as I have 28:30 mentioned before, whenever he received 28:33 clothing as gifts from kings, the first 28:36 thing he would do was distribute those 28:39 clothes to his companions. So one time, 28:45 a package of clothes was opened. It 28:48 turned out to contain a small tunic, 28:51 sized for a child, sir. So when the 28:55 tunic was lifted, it turned out the 28:57 size was only fit for a small child. 29:01 What did the Prophet sallallahu alaihi 29:02 wasallam do? Our Prophet called out. 29:04 Yes. The Prophet said, "Who among you 29:10 has a daughter, since this is a girl's 29:12 dress, who might fit this size?" No 29:16 companions answered. Finally, the 29:19 Prophet mentioned a name. The Prophet 29:23 said, "Uuni biummi Khalid.""Bring Ummu 29:28 Khalid here.""I will give this garment 29:33 to her." So Ummu Khalid's father came, 29:38 leading his small child by the hand, 29:40 sir, who was still 4 years old. Yes, 29:44 what did the Prophet sallallahu alaihi 29:47 wasallam do? Ummu Khalid's father came, 29:49 "O Messenger of Allah, this is my 29:51 daughter." It is said that when Ummu 29:54 Khalid arrived, the Prophet sallallahu 29:57 alaihi wasallam placed his knees on the 30:00 ground. This was a small child, sir. 30:05 The Prophet placed his knees on the 30:06 ground so he was level with the small 30:08 child. Then, this dress was put on 30:12 directly by the Prophet sallallahu 30:16 alaihi wasallam himself onto the little 30:18 child, Ummu Khalid. He put it on her 30:20 like that. After it was neat and the 30:23 Prophet had smoothed out the clothing, 30:25 the Prophet said, a short statement, 30:30 and the Prophet repeated it three times 30:32 . So, after putting on the clothes, the 30:35 Prophet said to the young girl, this 4- 30:38 year-old child, the Prophet said, "Sana 30:42 , sana, sana." If we look it up in an 30:46 Arabic dictionary, sir, the word "sana. 30:48 " It does not exist in an Arabic 30:49 dictionary. Seen, noon, alif, sana, 30:53 sana. What is the meaning of this 30:56 hadith? Scholars have studied it. It 31:01 turns out, according to Imam Ibn Hajar 31:04 al-Asqalani rahimahullah, the phrase " 31:06 sana" used by the Prophet is Abyssinian 31:09 . Abyssinia is now the country of 31:13 Ethiopia, on the continent of Africa. 31:16 The Prophet used the Ethiopian language 31:18 . Sana, sana. Sana. It means good, good 31:22 , good. This dress is cool. The 31:26 question is, why did the Prophet use 31:28 the Abyssinian language to talk to this 31:29 little child? It turns out this little 31:33 child was born in the land of Abyssinia 31:36 . Both her parents were companions of 31:39 the Prophet who migrated from Mecca to 31:41 Abyssinia to save their faith. So, Ummu 31:44 Khalid was born in Abyssinia. After 4 31:47 years, she was brought back to Medina. 31:50 Just imagine that, sir. The Prophet 31:53 sallallahu alaihi wasallam greeted a 31:55 small child using her local language. 31:58 We, sir, would feel happy when talking 32:01 to someone. If the person talking to us 32:04 understands our local language. Are you 32:06 happy, Pak? If there are Sundanese 32:09 people, for example, we are Sundanese, 32:10 and someone understands Sundanese. " 32:12 Kumaha damang, Pak, kumaha?"(How 32:13 are you, Pak, how?) That makes us 32:15 so happy. We feel that they are a part 32:17 of us. If a Javanese person is greeted 32:19 with "Pripun kabare jenengan?"(How are 32:21 you?) Oh, it immediately brings us 32:22 together, sir. If a Madurese person 32:24 meets someone on the street they don't 32:27 know, but is greeted in Madurese. "Do 32:29 remah kabbiya?"(How are you all?) That 32:31 makes you happy instantly, sir. Yes. 32:33 Why? People feel connected when they 32:37 interact with someone who understands 32:39 their local culture. That is what the 32:43 Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam did 32:45 to little Ummu Khalid. So when she wore 32:48 the clothes, the Prophet said, "Sana, 32:51 sana." This dress is cool, this dress 32:54 is cool, this dress is cool. It is said 32:56 that because she was so happy, this 32:58 little girl immediately felt close to 33:00 the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam. 33:03 It is said that this little child ran 33:05 around and hung onto the Prophet 33:07 sallallahu alaihi wasallam's shoulders. 33:10 When the child climbed onto the 33:12 Prophet's shoulders, her father forbade 33:15 her, "O my child, don't do that.""He is 33:18 a noble being, the messenger of Allah." 33:20 She was forbidden by her father. The 33:23 Prophet reprimanded her father. The 33:26 Prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said 33:28 , "Dakha, let your child be happy on my 33:29 shoulders." Pay attention to that, 33:33 gentlemen and ladies whom Allah honors. 33:36 This hadith was later narrated by Ummu 33:41 Khalid when she had grown old, reaching 33:44 an advanced age. So, after the Prophet 33:48 said "sana, sana, sana," the Prophet 33:51 prayed, "Abli wa akhliqi, abli wa 33:53 akhliqi.""May this dress last a long 33:55 time, and may you have a long life." 33:58 Imam Al-Dhahabi stated that Allah 34:01 answered the Prophet's prayer. Umm 34:04 Khalid became the female companion who 34:07 lived the longest life. It is said her 34:10 age reached 93 years. The companion of 34:14 the Prophet who was 4 years old, Sir, 34:16 met the Prophet and was granted a long 34:18 life by Allah until 93. And in her old 34:22 age, she recounted this story. This 34:25 means this was a memorable experience 34:27 that could not be forgotten. Let's try, 34:29 Sir, be honest, Sir. Is there any 34:32 childhood experience at the age of 4 34:34 that we still remember until now? That 34:38 is very few, Sir. Yes, very few. Why? 34:41 Our memory is limited. Unless the event 34:44 was truly memorable. Umm Khalid told 34:49 this story when she was very old. Why? 34:54 Those were unforgettable moments where 34:57 a beloved creature of Allah, the 35:00 noblest human leading the ummah, 35:03 engaged with a child by adapting to 35:07 their language. Allahumma sholli ala 35:09 sayyidina Muhammad. Ladies and 35:12 gentlemen, honored by Allah Subhanahu 35:13 wa ta'ala. Finally, the third point is 35:17 that the Prophet interacted with fellow 35:20 humans by considering the position or 35:24 social status of the interlocutor. 35:31 Nazzilunasa manazilahum. Socialize with 35:35 others, position everyone according to 35:38 their station. What does that mean? Our 35:42 Prophet, peace be upon him, Sir, we 35:45 often treat everyone the same. Even 35:50 though they are a respected figure. The 35:54 Prophet said, "Position people 35:56 according to their status." Then we 36:00 will see many hadiths where the Prophet 36:06 interacted with leaders honored in a 36:08 certain place. The Prophet would honor 36:12 you. Why? The Prophet adjusted, since 36:16 he is a respected figure, then I also 36:19 give greater respect to him. One 36:23 example. After the event of the 36:27 Conquest of Mecca. What year was this 36:30 Conquest of Mecca, Sir? Year 8 of the 36:32 Hijri calendar. After the Conquest of 36:36 Mecca, the Prophet's da'wah focused on 36:38 sending letters to surrounding kings. 36:41 The Prophet sent a letter to the Roman 36:44 King. The Prophet sent letters to the 36:46 Persian King and King Muqawqis in Egypt 36:48 . The Prophet spread his da'wah to 36:50 neighboring countries. Even now, Sir, 36:54 the documents of the Prophet's letters 36:56 still exist in the Istanbul Museum in 36:58 Turkey. If we observe how the Prophet 37:02 spoke to these country leaders, it was 37:05 truly extraordinary. Every letter from 37:09 the Prophet was opened with this phrase 37:11 . Min Muhammadin abdillahi wa rasulih. 37:18 From Muhammad, the servant of Allah and 37:21 His messenger. So the Prophet mentioned 37:25 "min Muhammadin abdillah," his servant 37:27 first. then "rasulih" and His messenger 37:31 . This reminds us that there is no 37:35 title more noble than being a servant 37:37 of Allah. When the Prophet sent letters 37:41 to kings, when introducing himself, he 37:42 did not start with "I am the messenger 37:44 of Allah," but Muhammad, what is it? A 37:47 servant of Allah and His messenger. 37:49 Let's look, Sir, when sending a letter 37:51 to Heraclius, the Roman King. The Roman 37:54 King was named Heraclius. If written in 37:57 Arabic, ha, ra, qaf, lam. Arabs read it 38:01 as Hirokla, but in Latin spelling, it 38:04 is Heraclius. Some read it as Hercules. 38:08 Yes, the Prophet sent a letter to 38:11 Heraclius, the King of Rome. What did 38:13 the Prophet say? From Muhammad, the 38:15 servant of Allah and His messenger. To 38:18 Heraclius, the great leader. From 38:25 Muhammad, the servant of Allah and His 38:29 messenger, to Heraclius, the noble 38:31 leader of the Roman Empire, or in our 38:35 terms, to the honorable King Heraclius 38:38 of Rome. Imagine that, just because he 38:43 wasn't a believer, the Prophet didn't 38:47 write in the letter "to Heraclius, the 38:51 enemy of Allah." It wasn't like that. " 38:55 Nazzilu al-nasa manazilahum." Treat 38:59 people according to their status. 39:03 Because Heraclius was an emperor 39:06 honored by his people. Rome was a vast 39:09 civilization. So, the Prophet (peace be 39:13 upon him) honored Heraclius because he 39:15 was a man of honor. There you go, sir. 39:19 So the third etiquette of interaction 39:21 taught by the Prophet is to treat 39:23 people according to their standing. 39:26 This is the principle. If we are 39:30 hosting an event and invite the 39:33 sub-district head, the village head, 39:36 the regent, the mayor, or the governor, 39:42 we seat them at the front and mention 39:44 their names during the formal address. 39:46 This is the basis for that, sir. " 39:48 Nazzilu al-nasa manazilahum." We often 39:53 fail in interacting with others over 39:55 trivial things. We don't position 39:59 someone according to their status. The 40:01 last one, it’s already 12:30. One 40:04 more story, sir. When the Prophet 40:08 conquered Makkah, the Fathu Makkah, sir 40:11 , was truly a phenomenal event. Why? 40:16 Eight years earlier, the Prophet was 40:17 expelled by the people of Makkah until 40:19 he fled to Madinah. He was in hiding; 40:22 they wanted to kill him. Whoever could 40:25 kill the Prophet would receive a reward 40:27 of 100 camels. Imagine, eight years ago 40:30 the people of Makkah expelled the 40:32 Prophet. But in the 8th year of the 40:37 Hijrah, the Prophet entered the city of 40:39 Makkah, turning the tables with 10,000 40:42 troops in a strong military position. 40:46 What happened, ladies and gentlemen? 40:48 The Prophet entered the city of Makkah. 40:51 If we look at the hadith narrated by 40:53 Imam Bukhari, the Prophet bowed his 40:55 head. He was riding his camel, and he 40:59 bowed his head so low it was said his 41:01 forehead touched the saddle of his 41:04 camel. So, the Prophet on his camel was 41:07 bowing. Bowing like this. Why? The 41:11 Prophet was worried about entering 41:14 Makkah in a victorious position. He 41:17 worried that arrogance might arise in 41:19 his heart. So he didn't want to look up 41:22 like this, sir. The Prophet bowed until 41:26 it was said his forehead touched the 41:28 camel's saddle. The residents of Makkah 41:31 who were there at the time all ran away 41:33 in fear. Why? They said, "Hadza yaum 41:36 yaumul malhamah." This is the day when 41:41 Muhammad will take revenge on us. This 41:44 day is a day of reckoning. We once 41:47 drove him out, so surely now he will 41:50 take his revenge. The Arabs said, "yaum 41:53 yaumul malhamah"(a day of slaughter/ 41:55 vengeance). Pay attention, sir, to what 41:57 the Prophet (peace be upon him) said. 42:00 He changed the wording; the Prophet 42:03 replaced the word "malhamah"(with an 'L 42:05 '). "Hadza yaum yaumul marhamah." Using 42:10 an 'R'. Today is not a day of revenge. 42:15 Today is a day of compassion. "Hadza 42:19 yaum yaumul marhamah." Today is a day 42:23 of mercy. Take note, sir. What was the 42:26 first thing the Prophet said when he 42:28 entered Makkah? This is what's 42:30 interesting. The Prophet said, "Man 42:33 dakhalal masjida fahua amin.""Do not be 42:37 afraid of me.""Whoever runs to the 42:41 Masjidil Haram and hides there, they 42:43 are safe.""Waman dakala daro Abi Sufyan 42:48 fahua amin.""Whoever runs to take 42:53 refuge in Abu Sufyan's house, they are 42:55 safe.""Waman aghlaqo babahu fahua amin. 43:00 ""Whoever hides in their house and 43:03 locks the door tight, they are also 43:05 safe.""I did not come to take revenge." 43:10 "I came to reconnect the ties of 43:12 kinship that you once broke." The 43:15 question is, why did the Prophet 43:18 mention Abu Sufyan's name when entering 43:22 Makkah? "Man dakola daro Abi Sufyan 43:25 fahua amin.""Whoever runs to take 43:28 refuge in Abu Sufyan's house, they are 43:30 safe." The question is why was Abu 43:34 Sufyan mentioned? Scholars say it was 43:37 because of Abu Sufyan's position at 43:38 that time. If it were today, he would 43:42 be the governor of Makkah, the mayor of 43:44 Makkah, the most respected person in 43:47 Makkah. So, the Prophet honored Abu 43:50 Sufyan during the Conquest of Makkah. 43:53 Do not worry, whoever takes refuge in 43:56 Abu Sufyan's house is under my 43:58 protection. We can see that the people 44:02 of Makkah saw their leader being 44:04 respected, not humiliated. Actually, if 44:07 the Prophet wanted to, he could have 44:09 humiliated Abu Sufyan at that time. But 44:11 the Prophet did not choose that path. 44:13 The Prophet chose to honor Abu Sufyan. 44:17 Because Abu Sufyan was a respected 44:20 leader in Makkah. Hopefully, these 44:23 three principles of interacting with 44:26 others can be a reminder for us. 44:30 Hopefully, we can always improve our 44:32 character and our interactions with 44:34 fellow human beings. That is all, thank 44:37 you. 44:38 >> Alhamdulillah. The material regarding 44:42 knowing your Prophet is quite memorable 44:46 with the three basic centers of 44:50 interaction from the Prophet, which can 44:53 also be a lesson and implementation for 44:56 us in our daily lives. Perhaps from the 45:00 congregation, there is something you 45:03 would like to ask or discuss, please do 45:06 so to delve deeper into the 45:08 understanding and ways of interaction 45:11 of the Messenger and his companions. 45:15 Please, Ustadz, I have a question here; 45:18 one of the tricks mentioned earlier is 45:21 considering the character of the person 45:24 we are talking to, right? Like the 45:28 types of minerals, some have a soft 45:32 character, but there are also unique 45:36 ones, and we must learn how to handle 45:41 characters that are like coal. So they 45:45 must be pressured first before they 45:46 become useful. Because sometimes, 45:48 perhaps we might struggle here with how 45:51 to handle a character like this. Ustadz 45:55 , because it is possible that when we 45:57 are discussing, conflict can occur, 46:00 there can be rejection or something 46:03 similar. But how can they eventually 46:07 support our invitation or align with 46:12 what we want? Also, are there examples 46:16 from the time of the Messenger of 46:18 companions who had characters like this 46:20 so we can understand better, oh, this 46:22 companion is like this, Ustadz? 46:27 >> Thank you. Is there? There is a rule of 46:33 interaction that, if we read about it, 46:36 is often quoted in English, but it was 46:38 actually exemplified by our Prophet, 46:40 peace be upon him. Connection before 46:45 correction. We must build a connection 46:50 first before we then correct. So it is 46:56 important to build bonding. Building 46:59 bonding means building a connection 47:01 first, yes. Only then can we proceed to 47:04 correct. One cannot simply jump right 47:08 in without having built a connection. 47:12 Suddenly ordering people around, 47:14 that’s not possible. Suddenly 47:16 ordering people around. Showing up and 47:18 saying you’re incompetent, you’re 47:20 this and that. This happens often with 47:22 bosses and their subordinates. The boss 47:24 never asks how the employees are doing, 47:27 if they are healthy, or if they have 47:30 eaten. Every time they meet, all that 47:34 is asked about is work. Just work, how 47:37 is the work? Is it done yet? The 47:39 deadline is in 2 days and it's not 47:41 finished. Before we interact, we must 47:44 build a connection first. And this is 47:48 what was exemplified in many historical 47:50 accounts earlier. If asked whether 47:52 there were companions in the Prophet's 47:54 time who had a harsh temperament. Oh, 47:57 there are many such accounts, ladies 47:58 and gentlemen. Back in Medina, there 48:03 was someone known for having a sharp 48:06 tongue. His tongue was sharp. When he 48:13 visited the Prophet's house, peace be 48:16 upon him, Mother Aisha saw the incident 48:19 where the Prophet actually welcomed him 48:22 warmly. Welcomed him warmly. After he 48:26 left, Mother Aisha asked, "O Messenger, 48:28 why did you show him such courtesy?""In 48:31 our language, quite politely, even 48:32 though his tongue was harsh." Yes, his 48:35 tongue was a harsh one. What did the 48:37 Prophet, peace be upon him, say? "O 48:40 Aisha, the worst of people are those 48:42 whom others avoid because of their 48:45 speech." I shouldn't let his sharp 48:48 tongue cause me to respond with a sharp 48:50 tongue as well. "Yes, I must not 48:52 respond." It is like this, sir. If a 48:55 dog barks, and we bark back, the devil 48:58 gets confused about which one is the 49:00 dog. That's more or less how it is, sir 49:02 . So, the harsher a person's character, 49:06 our Prophet, peace be upon him, would 49:09 respond by softening that harshness. 49:12 Back in Mecca, the Prophet was once 49:14 lobbied, sir. Lobbied by one of the 49:17 Quraysh leaders named Utbah bin Rabiah. 49:21 Who was this Utbah bin Rabiah? One of 49:23 the figures delegated to lobby the 49:25 Prophet to stop preaching. He came to 49:29 the house, well, to the Prophet's house 49:31 at that time, his uncle Abu Thalib's 49:32 house. He just blurted out, "O Muhammad 49:35 , let's be direct.""If what you want 49:39 from your preaching is wealth, we will 49:42 gather our wealth and give it to you." 49:46 That would be the end of it. "If what 49:49 you want from your preaching is women, 49:51 we will hold a Miss Universe 49:52 competition for the most beautiful 49:54 women in the Arabian Peninsula.""And we 49:57 will marry them to you.""If what you 49:59 want is power, we agree to appoint you 50:02 as our leader." That is what Utbah bin 50:05 Rabiah said. Pay attention, sir. If 50:06 someone comes to us and judges us right 50:09 away, what happens? At the very least, 50:12 our ears turn red. Our ears will turn 50:15 red. But look at the Prophet, peace be 50:18 upon him, when he received an offer 50:20 from Utbah bin Rabiah, which was 50:22 actually filled with insults. The 50:25 Prophet said, when Utbah bin Rabiah 50:27 finished speaking, "Hal faragta min 50:30 kalamik?""O Abul Walid, is there 50:34 anything else you wish to say?""Finish 50:37 first.""Finish first." Abul Walid Utbah 50:40 bin Rabiah replied, "No, Muhammad, that 50:42 is all I wanted to talk about." Only 50:44 when the speaker was finished did the 50:46 Prophet, peace be upon him, begin to 50:48 speak. This is what made the companion 50:52 Amr bin Ash say that whoever spoke with 50:54 the Prophet would feel special. Why? 50:59 Because they felt they were the most 51:01 respected person. Amr bin Ash even felt 51:04 that he was the person most loved by 51:05 the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon 51:07 him. Why? Because when the Prophet 51:09 talked to him, he paid such close 51:10 attention as if he were the person the 51:12 Prophet liked the most. But after being 51:14 asked, "O Messenger, I want to be 51:16 honest." Answer honestly. "Who is the 51:17 person you love the most?""Abu Bakar." 51:19 Said the Prophet. "After Abu Bakar, who 51:21 ?""Umar." After Umar, who? Utsman. 51:24 After Utsman, who? Ali. Amr bin Ash's 51:26 name was not mentioned. Amr bin Ash 51:28 said, "I regret asking that question." 51:31 Because seeing how the Prophet treated 51:33 him, Amr bin Ash felt special. And this 51:36 shows an extraordinary portrait. How we 51:39 strive to slowly build a connection, 51:42 that a harsh character must be softened 51:44 slowly, slowly, slowly with the hope 51:46 that, hopefully, the door to their 51:48 heart will open. I think that is all, 51:51 Sir. Thank you. 51:53 >> Yes, there is one more thing, Ustaz. 51:59 Yes. From the congregation, there is 52:03 another question related to our love 52:06 for the Prophet and the Messenger; with 52:09 the Mawlid commemoration, reading the 52:12 Mawlid, and so on, a longing for the 52:15 Messenger arises. Now, there is, uh a 52:22 desire for us to meet the Messenger, 52:23 even if only in a dream. Now, is there 52:27 an effort or practice so that we can 52:29 meet the Messenger of Allah, peace be 52:31 upon him, even in a dream, so that we 52:33 can, uh express our love, perhaps 52:37 relieve the longing. Is there anything 52:40 like that that the congregation and the 52:41 viewers can do? "Man roani fin naum 52:46 fakaannama roani fil yaqazah." Peace be 52:50 upon him. "Whoever sees me in a dream, 52:54 then truly he has seen me in reality."" 52:59 Fainnash-shaythona la yatamathalu bi."" 53:02 Because the devil cannot impersonate me 53:04 ." Yes. And the vision of seeing the 53:09 Prophet, peace be upon him, in a dream 53:11 is not something impossible, Sir. 53:14 Stories from the scholars. There is one 53:17 book, I have a book titled "Ruyatun 53:18 Nabi Fil Manam." Specifically 53:21 discussing the stories of people who, 53:22 during their lives, have seen the 53:24 Prophet, peace be upon him, in a dream. 53:27 We certainly want to, Sir. There isn't 53:30 one of us who doesn't. A student once 53:32 asked his Sheikh. "Sheikh, I have long 53:35 aspired to dream of meeting the Prophet 53:38 .""Why haven't I ever had it?""I never 53:41 get it." The Sheikh said, "Come to my 53:44 house tonight for dinner." Okay. So the 53:49 student came to the Sheikh's house. 53:53 When the student arrived, a portion of 53:56 food was prepared, with salted fish as 53:58 the side dish. You know salted fish, 54:00 right? There was very little rice. The 54:04 salted fish filled the entire tray. The 54:08 Sheikh asked, "Do you want to dream of 54:10 meeting the Prophet?""I do, Sheikh."" 54:12 Finish this meal.""Don't drink anything 54:15 .""You are not allowed to drink until 54:17 you go to sleep." Okay. Because he was 54:20 so eager, Sir, he did it. We can 54:23 imagine him eating the rice, and the 54:26 salted fish. Do you know salted fish, 54:28 Sir? It makes your throat very dry, Sir 54:30 . He wasn't allowed to drink. He 54:31 followed the Sheikh's orders, and his 54:34 throat became parched. "It's finished, 54:36 Sheikh.""Alright, go home and sleep." 54:39 He went to sleep. Sir, in his dream, he 54:42 saw an ocean of water; he saw a vast 54:45 river, full of water. He was drinking 54:48 water in the dream. He went back to the 54:51 Sheikh: "Sheikh, did I dream of meeting 54:52 the Prophet yet?""What did you see?"" 54:54 Water," he said. "Now, that is the 54:56 method.""Why did you dream of seeing 54:59 water?""Well, how could I not see water 55:02 ?""I was told to eat salted fish before 55:05 sleeping, so my throat was parched.""So 55:08 before I fell asleep, all I could think 55:10 about was drinking, drinking.""I fell 55:15 asleep and dreamed of water." If you 55:18 want to dream of meeting the Messenger 55:20 of Allah, peace be upon him, make sure 55:22 the last thought before you fall fast 55:25 asleep is the Prophet, peace be upon 55:27 him. That’s why when I studied in 55:29 Hadhramaut, Yemen, the people of Tarim, 55:32 Sir, have a custom, especially in the 55:34 month of Rabi 'al-Awwal, of using the 55:36 Shamail book. So, there is the 55:39 Prophetic Biography, and there is the 55:40 Shamail. This Shamail book is also 55:42 important. What is the Shamail? The 55:44 Shamail is a book that describes the 55:46 physical characteristics of the Prophet 55:48 , peace be upon him. The shape of our 55:51 Prophet's eyes, the shape of his 55:53 eyebrows, the shape of his body. It is 55:56 all recounted completely in the Shamail 55:59 book. The people of Tarim read it with 56:03 their wives and children before sleep. 56:06 They read it, then they go to sleep. 56:09 What is the goal? They want the last 56:12 thing mentioned before they fall asleep 56:14 to be the Prophet, peace be upon him. 56:18 If we are not yet permitted to see him 56:20 in this world, we at least hope to be 56:22 permitted by Allah for our eyes to see 56:24 the Prophet, peace be upon him, in the 56:26 afterlife and in the hereafter. May we 56:29 all receive that blessing. Amen. Amen, 56:32 O Lord of the worlds. In conclusion, 56:36 the conclusion is let us, through this 56:39 dawn study this morning, always keep 56:43 our Prophet Muhammad, may Allah honor 56:46 him and grant him peace, as the main 56:49 inspiration in our words and our 56:52 actions as an implementation of the 56:55 word of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. 56:59 Wa'lamu annah fikum rasulullah. 57:03 Remember and realize that in your midst 57:05 is the Messenger of Allah, Muhammad, 57:06 may Allah honor him and grant him peace 57:08 . I think that is all I can convey. 57:10 Thank you. 57:11 >> Yes, that concludes our study this 57:13 morning. May we gain knowledge and role 57:16 models from the Messenger, may Allah 57:19 honor him and grant him peace, and his 57:22 companions that we can implement in our 57:24 daily lives. Please forgive me if there 57:26 are any mistakes. Wabillahi taufik 57:28 walhidayah. Wasalamualaikum 57:29 warahmatullahi wabarakatuh. Sallallahu 57:34 ala Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam 57:38 . Sallallah
